Welcome back my friends to another episode of the Bedrock guide we are about to kick it into high gear is that a pun because I now have Diamond gear yes it is but I just got back from an extensive mining session where I got a bunch of materials and oh no not today But I have just returned from oh my goodness there’s another one they’re everywhere can I please finish my intro thank you as I was saying I are you kidding me three of them you can’t make this stuff up I’m not even gonna try to finish the intro we’re Building storage today I have junk stored right here right here and here and here and here and here and here okay some of that might have been a classic blue jay exaggeration like the crop Farm storage that’s all gonna stay with the crop Farm it makes sense to do that with The crops but it doesn’t make sense just to leave chests scattered about the world with Reese sources that we could easily access inside of our house so that’s where I’m going to build my storage room when I was building this house I had some plans for this room That I think I’m going to shift up a little bit there was some simple home renovations the kitchen is now just the kitchen maybe we should put a painting here have to think about that for later but over here behind the TV I’ve got a little bit of unused space that I now Think I’m going to use thankfully because we built this up above the ground just a little bit some of it’s already dug out and I have some parameters to where I know I can build without going outside of that wall so that’ll make it easy for us to get a Good decent sized storage room without having to do a whole lot of extra work I normally do this later in the episode but let’s go ahead and read the comment of the day blue haven’t you learned to not taunt the creepers they hold grudges well Stacy face thanks for that comment And thanks for jinxing this episode it’s all your fault the three creeper at the beginning that’s on you I mean let’s be real here for a second can you blame the creepers for wanting to come hang out with old blue jay I’ve got such an explosive personality I’m telling you if Creepers had thumbs they would tap the like button on this video they love blue jay so much but since creepers don’t have thumbs I’m gonna leave that to you guys so what are you waiting for tap the like button in all seriousness I’ve just been so thankful oh my Well chicken that was your fault anyway I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everybody for the incredible support at the start of this season of the Bedrock guide I’ve been blown away at how much you guys are enjoying it and you know what I’m enjoying it too y’all Are the best thanks for all the love lately I don’t know about you but I think this is gonna give me plenty of room for a nice storage system and we’re actually not even going to use the entire room I’m gonna cut it off probably about right here I think but to Get started with the build portion of this video I’m gonna go ahead and lay out a floor made entirely out of spruce slabs and then I’m gonna replace the dirt stairs with actual stairs made out of birch I love the look of dark oak logs especially the stripped dark oak Logs and so I’m going to use those for the pillars in my basement I’m also going to use these dark oak logs as structural support even though it’s an illusion it looks like it might actually hold up the ceiling and then I’m gonna close off the back third of the Bay Basement because it’s a space that I’m not planning on using today but I do have some plans for it in the future and we’re just gonna have to wait on for now and then because dirt is not the aesthetic we’re going for I’m gonna cover it up and create a ceiling with Dark oak slabs the room is nearly done and so now I want to take care of some detailing to do that I’m going to remove some of the spruce slabs and replace them with dark oak slabs this will make it look like the floor is slightly discolored in some spaces which gives it A little bit more character for some additional detailing I’m gonna take some dark oak fences to use as trim pieces around the room and it wouldn’t be a classic blue jay house unless it included a blue jay carpet I originally wanted to put this upstairs but I didn’t Have the space for it so the next best option was to put it down here and if you ask me I think it’s just perfect with all of the decorations complete we still have one thing left to do this place needs some light so I’m gonna hang Some lanterns from the ceiling place a couple on the floor and maybe one on a shelf I added a few more little details like these little work benches made out of fences and pressure plates and the blue jay carpet has some extra gray tattered edges as if it had a border Around it at one time but this is a work basement after all so it’s not gonna be perfect even though it is but the only thing missing from the storage basement is the storage itself but I’ve got a couple of tips tricks and storage hacks for you that hopefully will help you out In your first storage room first up this is probably basic information everybody knows but this is a Minecraft chest inside of the chest you have 27 slots that store up to 64 items in each slot you don’t have to fill each slot completely up you could put 14 iron or Three carpet but once a slot in the chest is filled in with an item you cannot Place anything over it it will actually just replace the item that’s there if you take another chest and place it directly next to the first chest it will create what is called a Large chest or is pretty much everybody else in the Minecraft Community calls it a double chest and it quite literally does exactly what it says it doubles the amount of storage you can have in a chest going from 27 slots with 64 items all the way up to 54 slots with 64 items That’s a lot of storage if you place them side by side like this you can easily access combinations of double and single chests depending on your space so we could do something like that where there’s a double chest on each side and a single chest in the middle but this Isn’t actually giving us the most bang for our buck what I like to do is destroy my builds that I’ve already finished just so we can rebuild them don’t you love doing that too it’s just the best inside of our freshly recessed wall I’m gonna take my chests and I’m Gonna turn them sideways and place them exactly the way we did before and then this way instead of two double chests and one single chest we now have five double chests doubling the amount of storage we can put in the same space and even better we can stack these chests so That we have Columns of chests the one thing to keep in mind and be careful of though is if you place another one right here because this chest is directly below a solid block you actually cannot open it I’m trying to open it right now and it does nothing if I open literally Any of these other chests it will open just fine but adjust directly below a solid block will not open one way you can get around that is actually to put a slab or a stair or any other kind of half block or transparent block even though this is technically occupying the Same block space that this is up here we can still open that chest but if I were to place this slab directly on top same thing I can’t open it this is one of those instances where having a slab or a stair is going to help our situation if I take this block back out you can see that’s the open air that’s the sky and that hole in the ground is ruining my front lawn so rather than leaving a dirt row all the way across we can go ahead and hide that with some stairs and still Get our full three rows of double chests chests are actually not the only storage item in the game another option we have is the barrel I absolutely love barrels because they provide a different aesthetic from just kind of the cardboard texture of a regular chest these don’t even look like wood I don’t Know about you but I think 1.21 should be the chest update let’s get some new Minecraft chests but anyway that’s beside the point we got barrels and the cool thing about barrels is they can also be directional you can stack them straight up and down or you can tip them On their side providing for some really interesting looks but here’s the real nice trick about barrels you could actually place them next to a solid block and still access the contents inside they do not require any kind of air space above them so if I wanted to I Could line this entire row with barrels I don’t want to because I’m saving that for something else but I am going to use Barrels in this tight space over here so that we can have just a little bit more room for storage I don’t know about you but underneath the stairs in the Basement is where a lot of people put their junk so that’s probably what we’re gonna put in those barrels just the junk a great storage room is only as good as its organizational system this is unacceptable don’t do this it’s bad can I say it again don’t do it instead what You should do is take similar items and either group them together in the same chest or we could group the items into columns for example oak logs Oak planks and other craftable items and Oak saplings this will help keep us organized so that when we’re ready for a Project we can just grab and go hey blue jay that sounds really nice but how am I gonna remember where everything is that’s a great question do remember where everything is we have a couple of different options the first being an item frame this is one of those methods That I used to use all of the time but lately I’m just not really into it don’t get me wrong I absolutely love item frames and how they look and it’s also easy to see what’s in each chest a quick glance but accessing these items in this Configuration is a nightmare you have to aim below or to the side of the item frame in order to open the chest and hope you don’t like start twisting the item on the frame and they just they just get in the way it’s terrible if we had our chest laid out sideways like This we could always put an item frame on one side and easily open the other but unfortunately that’s just not how we’ve chosen to go with this storage system the next option we have is an oldie but a goodie it is the regular sign and you can type anything you want On this sign not sure how that’s gonna help you but with the trails and Tails update if you don’t like what you have on the sign you no longer have to break the sign you can just right click on it and backspace and change anything you Want on this sign so that maybe it actually says what’s in this chest but we have kind of the same issue here I’ve got a narrow space at the bottom that I can open this with but if I accidentally click on the sign it’s just going to Open up the sign again and that’s not what we want either there are ways to lock this but if I ever want to reorganize my storage system I’m gonna have to break every sign and it’s just it’s a hassle but with the trails and Tails update comes one of my absolute Favorite new features the hanging sign not only do they hang out of the way of all of your storage they actually look really nice if you hang it from a flat surface you get these two little chains that hang down if you hang it from something like a fence the two chains Actually meet in the middle or you can even hang them off of the side of an objects so that they’ve got this little post here oh it’s so cool hanging signs are easily one of the best new features in the game now all I need to do is Decide where everything is gonna go every sign in here now has a label and now all I I gotta do is get organized but before we do that one more design tip that I want to show you another choice that you could make is to put the Type of block in front of the column like this so then you have a visual as well to see what’s in each of these but this doesn’t really fit the theme of our area so we’re not gonna go this route but that is an option if you like that So let’s run all over the world and grab all of my random junk just laying around and we’ll start putting it away every chest is now fully organized and when I say every there’s something things like this Mangrove wood we just don’t have yet but I do plan to get each of these items at some point so it’s like they say if you have failed to plan you plan to fail and we’ve got plenty of room for expansion and you might notice as well we’ve left one corner of this room empty not a lot Of people think of this next item as a storage unit but it is indeed somewhat of a storage unit if you take a smooth stone slab and six sticks in this configuration you will get an armor stand I’m gonna craft three of them similar to barrels how they are Directional armor stands can also be placed in several directions even on a diagonal that makes these things very cool because not a lot of blocks in the game can do that they can also be posed if you crouch and right click on them can even do a little dance if if you Take a slab like this and you drop an armor stand down on top of it it will actually sit down on top of the slab rather than kind of hanging out with a little bit of a gap between it so it allows you to do some really interesting Things with displaying armor this is really my only active set of armor right now so I’m not gonna leave it on there but I do need to fill this up with some more armor pieces at some point I did say that this is kind of a storage unit Which is true it can store things it can store four pieces of armor and one item in the hand so if I want to take this water bucket and click it right there maybe it makes more sense for him to hold a sword much better one last tip That I have for you today is that eventually you’re going to get some items that accumulate very quickly certain things like oars can actually be combined to save on some space so always keep a crafting table nearby you can take things like Redstone and combine them into a block so nine pieces of Redstone go into one single block and that really cuts down on how much space you’re taking up in your chest but don’t worry this can be undone if you take it in the crafting table or your own personal inventory you can return those crafted items back to the original state Not all items can do this but it’s a pretty cool storage Life Hack and honestly that’s about all the tips and tricks I have for you except for this last one do what makes sense to you maybe you don’t spread out all of your wood items into an entire wall like this Maybe you consolidate them into like three columns there is no perfect method other than the method that makes sense and you know what else makes sense clicking the like button on this video that makes total sense along with leaving me a comment if you learned something new or if you have a storage Hack to share with me and don’t forget to subscribe if you’re new and don’t go anywhere because there’s more Bedrock guide content on the way Video Information
