TRAIL RUINS: Minecraft 1.20’s Biggest Mystery – Everything To Know

How you doing everybody it’s me Waddles and welcome to the everything Series in honor of the big update today we’ll be diving deep into Minecraft’s newest most mysterious structure we’re going to talk how to find how to Loop every structure and a little bit of mystery too the

Notice anything weird hey what’s that oh four blocks a total of four blocks on the surface whatever could that mean well friends it not only memes our IQ is off the charts quite literally but we’ve also done it we’ve found Minecraft 1.20’s brand new structure the trail

Ruins at first look when you find this thing in your world aside from some strange blocks it might not look like there’s not much to it but move under the ground and you’ll find pretty quickly that there’s a whole lot more to it this is essentially some kind of

Ancient ruined Village that’s been lost a Time sunken under the ground somehow in a way the origin story of this Brand’s new trailer and structure takes us all the way back to the very end of 2020. Minecraft live 2020 was one of the most biggest the most hyped up Minecraft

Lives ever they announced like a million trillion features and then took like well they took like three years to put him in the game but at least they’re here when archeology was first revealed some sort of strange mysterious sunken treasure was also shown off looking back at this early version of the structure

Clearly here we have a couple ruined buildings here this shows that they had the idea for some kind of ruined buried structure in their head for at least well well for at least like three years now Jump Ahead to now the release of 1.20 and unfortunately that old

Structure that looked really cool it’s gone but fortunately it’s been replaced with something that might be even better now the main point to this whole ruined trailer instruction it really all comes down to archeology which is exactly where we’re headed next if you’d like to check out the trailer

Instructor in your survival world the first step is unfortunately terrible news for the chickens take out your local chickens until you have feathers go over to a tree and chop it down and then grab some copper as well inside of a crafting table we’re going to need to

Combine these three things in a line just like that for the brand new brush tool now this brush is basically like the album the key for this whole archeology system you get this thing and you’re ready to go so we got a brush if you saw that old reveal from years ago

You might think that this is basically an overpowered thing that brushes away every single brushable block in the game but yeah that’s not exactly the case as of 1.20 the only blocks that actually interact with the brush are going to be suspicious grab them and suspicious samp

With a brush in hand walk up to one of these suspicious looking blocks that’s doing its best to blend in with his counterpart and brush the block away after brushing this thing for a couple of seconds the suspicions bar goes away and item would be dropped on the ground

And the block is turned to the normal version of that block and for archeology absolute Basics well that’s like basically it grab a brush brush a block and get a block in the future I plan on making a dedicated archeology episode of the everything series subscribe and keep

Your eyes out for it you’re with that archeology system in mind next up let’s talk about where you can find this thing how you could maybe find it a little bit easier and how to actually take it on and get to the good stuff when it comes to the physical size of

The trailer instruction it’s actually pretty large but when it comes to actually seeing that size well it’s gonna be difficult the trailer instructor is easily going to be one of the more tricky structures to find in the entire game when they first added this thing to the game I was really

Hoping that there would be like a map a compass a way to actually locate this thing but no instead for a lead all we have are a handful of biomes here you’ll be able to find the trail runes inside the tiger the Jungle the old growth Birch forest biome and the snowy tiger

You’ll also be able to find this in those Mega tiger biomes as well so let’s be clear here you’re looking for like four blocks sitting up on the surface and coincidentally those four blocks sitting up on the surface only generating biomes where the surface is like relatively blocked all right check got it

Inside of a random spot in a properly normal survival world let’s check this out and we’ll go ahead and run the command to locate Trail rooms next up we’ll set ourselves over the trail runes and uh well I actually if you happen to be in this world sailing down the river

And then they look over to the side I mean right there it’s right in front of us that really wasn’t too bad I promise it’s not gonna always be this easy a little side note here for all the biomes that you can find this thing in right

Here we basically have them all other than the snowy tiger in the jungle we got those Big Pine and Spruce Tigers we got the normal tiger and then actually over here we have what I believe is an old growth Birch Forest the old growth Birch Forest is the one with the trees

That are a little bit taller sending ourselves over to another random trailer and structure and unfortunately this time we’re not gonna be so lucky when you’re looking for the trailer instructor you’re essentially looking for a small tip of the tower that will generate on the surface every single

Time and unfortunately again because of the biomes that this thing generates in it could be really hard to fight look if you’re planning on looking for the trailer and structure on foot hey when it comes to tips I really don’t have very many of course for starters Begin

By looking inside the bottoms where you could actually find this thing for follow-up versus maybe inside of the biome like weave around in a consistent pattern inside of the forest instead of wandering aimlessly like pick a direction stay this way wander up until the biome ends then maybe turn run over

20 30 blocks or so then slowly turn back in to do it all again while you’re running look side to side maybe you have a spy glass and like scan the surface every once in a while we’re looking for a handful of terracotta blocks that really aren’t going to stand out here

It’s not gonna exactly be easy to find unless you get lucky and randomly they stumble across this thing on foot or you’re vital with wasting potentially hours scanning the surface of an entire biome your best bet is probably the sky it’s kind of sad because using an elytra

To find this thing means the structure is going to be maybe a little bit more late game but hands down using the sky to find this thing is going to be way easier if possible get an elytra and fly around in the sky in third person perspective try and scan the entire

Ground slowly maybe use rockets that aren’t too fast hopefully before too long you’re able to spot a couple blocks of terracotta smoothly land and check that thing out some structures have coordinate tricks that you can use to help locate them but unfortunately the trail runes is now one of them but there

Is one more method you could use I kind of hate to say it really but this is going to be unfortunately the easiest way to find the trail runes my friends I present you with a handy little website that I like to call chunk bass as of the

Recording in this episode of the everything series taking a look at the individual apps on chunk base one of the most best Minecraft websites ever it might not look like we can find the trail ruins but great news using the seed map app tool right here we could

Actually find it in this blank right here we’re gonna go ahead and drop our world seed then we’re going to switch the version over to experimental Java 1.20 in the future you may not even have to switch that toggle but make sure your version is at least 1.20 now right here

We can see a list of every single structure this thing can locate NRC the brush icon all the way at the end is the one we’re looking for that means we can basically uncheck all of these other ones clean the map up a little after we

Go ahead and clear all of those other icons other than this first one we scroll down and look at the map and just like that we can see potential locations of different Trail room instructions inside of our world unfortunately Alias right now is not going to work 100 of

The time but you do have trunk Bass on the bright side locating the structure is the hard part once you’ve actually found this thing if you know what you’re doing Excavating this thing is really easy just a little time consuming but it’s very simple to excavate this structure I recommend a

Couple of things definitely at least have a brush and a shovel now when it comes to the shovel enchantments are actually totally optional you’re also going to want to have a pickaxe on hand and some torches as well poetically put just like the structure itself the point

To this thing is getting lost in time if you’re gonna activate a trailer for instruction it’s better to take your time if you’re gonna take your time it might not be a bad idea to set your spawn near the structure too now once you bought a trailer instructor even if

It’s exposed on the side or something like that 100 you’re going to want to start at the very top of this thing start by taking out any blocks that are sitting around near or inside of the Terracotta blocks on the surface typically the top part of the trail

Ruins is contained within like a 5×5 block area as we start to expose the top couple of blocks of the structure we start to see what’s going on here we got some terracotta on the sides right there and then gravel in the middle the trail

Ruins is kind of like a it’s like a present if you will we got the outside of the present of cerakata or breaks or something else and then the inside that’s where you’re typically gonna fight all of the loot in this thing slowly dig away gravel with a shovel

Until you start to find suspicious gravel I highly recommend doing this thing layer by layer here peel it back slowly like an onion when you find suspicious gravel grab your brush and start brushing it away suspicious gravel is way too easy to accidentally break I

Mean check this out if I’m using my fast shovel here and just digging this away just like that I shattered the blocks and the Fallen break too yeah that’s right if you have any kind of suspicious blocks supported by something and you break that bottom thing well it’ll fall and then shatter

And you lose the loot it’s gone and the block too for that reason it actually might be a little bit smarter use a plain old iron shovel rather than your super fast one continuing our big dig as we get a little bit deeper we’re gonna not only find gravel but of course dirt

Now too as you slowly start to dig deeper and deeper you’re gonna realize that you’re digging yourself into a hole here if you want to be extra prepared maybe bring a couple of ladders with you over to the structure and here we’ve done it we hit another block so far

We’ve found a hanging Sun that I lost a blue diamond oh my gosh light blue dye yeah yeah the the first loot that you’re gonna find here in the structure is not going to be very good if you want to actually find the good sub you need to

Get to the bottom of it and speaking of the bottom of it have I found it every single trailer and structure generates a little bit differently and mine generated with a whole floor right here it might seem like the structure is done but trust me it’s not typically the

Bottom of the trailer and structure is going to be like dirt or Cobblestone or something if you have a full terracotta floor it’s not a bad idea to break it out just to see what you have below continue to digest right down here now we have the actual bottom it’s cracked

Stone bricks but yours might look different now that we’re actually seeing the bottom destruction something different might start to happen it actually yes oh my gosh it has check that out a music disc just like that with the trail ruins when it comes to the best loot the deeper you go the

Better the loot is going to get also when the trail ruins the deeper you go the bigger the structure is going to get with the trailer and structure what I recommend doing is to excavate the tower get down to the bottom of this thing and then you’re going to want to start

Branching out in different directions again with your plane shovel that isn’t too fast once you’re at the very bottom of the structure start slowly digging out in every single direction we’re looking at the ground here the ground is going to tell us which way the structure is actually continuing out so now

Digging this way it looks like we’re hitting more buildings which means there’s definitely more to check out over there but also this way we’re seeing a lot of cobblestone and stone in this direction the Cobblestone and Zone actually continues for quite a ways too but eventually begins to hit Stone the

General rule here with this structure is if you’re hitting Stone the structure probably doesn’t really continue out that way instead we’re looking for directions that seem to just keep going and going with coarse dirt gravel and suspicious gravel if we go ahead and cheat here a little bit and go into

Spectator mode take a look at the structure and how it’s generated here we have the tower and then in every direction from the tower we do have a little bit but in one direction from the tower we have a whole lot more look at this thing we’ve got a long part of the

Structure right here that’s the road past the zone right here we have a couple blocks and then we start to dip down that’s a pretty common thing with the Rope if you find an area with Cobblestone stepping down to Stone like that and then you remove stone and you

Find even more Cobblestone you probably found the road the road is kind of like the big main part of the structure with one trouble just about down it’s time we move on to the next one and uh right here this is where I start to point out

To you that this is uh it’s a big job it’s gonna take a lot of time if you’re planning on digging out this entire structure including the stone like open it up to the surface uh just gonna take days and days and time and game next to

This torso I finally found another piece of suspicious gravel let’s test it out we go ahead and brush him we’re really deep here in well well would you take a look at that we get a I thought it was a shirt yeah so unfortunately the deeper you get the

Better the loot gets but not always the trailers is two Separate Tables rare loot and common loot common loot is everywhere rare is only deep and finally hear about the whole Zone thing if you feel like you’re hitting stone and you think you hit the end of the structure

It’s a great idea to just dig out a couple blocks of stone anyways sadly it’s not impossible for stone to generate into the structure a little bit like we can see right here with the stone mixing in with these buildings if you dig out a couple blocks of stone and

Find nothing but like normal cave stuff then you probably have actually found the end of the structure all in all because it’s a brand new system there’s kind of a lot to Excavating a trailer and structure but hopefully some of those tips will help

You out if you got one more drop it down below but let’s move on potential loot of the trailer instruction on Java and Bedrock the actual items that you could find are exactly the same for this one we’re pulling from a loot pool of about

30 things a little bit of bad news here for bedrock and Java these specific odds they differ a little bit but they’re like basically the same so for our loot table here we’re looking at a table that is split into two categories we’ve got common loot we’ve got a rare loot the

Rare loot is always deeper down the common loot can be everywhere no matter what the loot is always inside of the suspicious ground there’s no chests here taking a look at our comment loot table you got a 4.4 chance to find any of these items inside of Any Given sus

Gravel block taking a look at these items right here they’re a little bit more rare 2.2 percent chance now to be honest inside of the common Blue Table you do have some decent things you got an emerald and maybe a break useful for building or you’ve got coal and the

Hanging Suns but uh of course of course the main thing you’re looking for here are all of these Brands new items the rarely the rare loot table is made up of four armor trims one music disc and seven brand new shirts you’ll have an 8.3 chance to find any of these items

Right here now when it comes to the shirts we’ve got burp we’ve got danger we’ve got bread we got a heart we got a heartbreak we got Howell and then we got sheep a lot of these are pretty self-explanatory this one is an iron golem face I have no clue what this

Thing is if somebody knows please enlighten me interestingly all of the trims that you can find inside of this structure are very line based trims like you got lines going on them here we have host here we have Razer here we have shaper and then we got wave binder right

There a little bit of personal opinion with this one but good news if you’re a fan of armor trim the travel ruins armor train is maybe not exactly the one you’re looking for instead just explore all over the world for like say a shipwreck maybe the ancient city or

Something I personally think some of the other ones are a little bit more cool but I mean these are nice too in all honesty probably the best thing inside of this entire loot table I mean of course the pot shards are really really nice but it’s probably gonna be the trip

The music disc is of course beautiful too maybe one of the best ones of the entire game next up let’s dive a little bit more into generation with the help of commands right here I’ve fully excavated this trial ruin structure so we can take a look at how this thing

Actually generates originally when this structure had generated here the hill swooped down kind of in like that shape right there and a little bit of the top was exposed here great news here when we remove all the other blocks we can see that you’re gonna have quite a bit of

Sauce gravel generating all over this entire structure here with all the blocks removed around the structure you can really see that here we’ve got a central tower with a couple rooms coming off of it in basically every direction and then a main road coming off of the

Road we’ve got Decor pieces over there and we’ve got a couple more buildings here if you look closely one common thing that you can see here with this entire structure is the sus gravel that’s in the structure well it’s like consistently inside of the structure by the structure we’ve got a couple

Outlier patches of gravel next to it and blow it and pretty consistently here there is no such gravel in the patches around it like I was saying a second ago about the road stepping down here we got the base of the tower then the road starts to step down gradually until we

End up with a road that is even with this layer right here in total we got a structure that ends up being approximately 30 or so blocks wide and like 50 or so blocks look fully submerged on the ground but so this structure itself wasn’t like too deep

Here on Jabba they generate pretty close to the surface actually on Minecraft Bedrock has the 1.20 update the structure is basically the same other than how deep it generates on Bedrock when Excavating the tower you’re gonna start at the top just like we talked about then you’re gonna start moving

Down then for some reason there’s gonna be a gap of like sometimes 10 to 20 blocks of nothingness Stone just dig through it and then eventually continuing straight down you’ll find the rest of the runes Excavating an entire trailer and structure inside of your world and who knows maybe even fully

Restoring it that is a really really cool sounding project but clearly as you can see here it’s gonna be a time consuming one two next up my friends for our second to last segment of the day let’s take a look at the individual pieces of this structure because oh boy

We got a lot here in fact we’ve got so many individual pieces of the structure that I was almost going to make this part its own video like I did with the ancient city one in total for this structure we’ve got 45 different pieces of a tower we’ve got 35 different

Buildings seven Decor pieces and seven rows every single trailer instructor will use a different combination of all these pieces to actually make the entire Trail ruins that’s going to bring our grand total for the structure to 94 individual pieces of the structure taking a look at the cool overview of

All the pieces I mean oof let’s go we’ll start off with the road pieces because they’re pretty uninteresting typically when you have the traveler instructor you’ll have a random combination of these different Road pieces right here all the way down to the end we have the

End Road pieces when the road ends you can see it kind of just like I think it basically Fades out pretty consistently here you can see the road is made up of cobblestone and stone typically if we pull out the stone we’ll see a little bit more Cobblestone or sometimes stone

Brick next up we take a look at the towers for the towers we have seven different components of every single Tower so this is kind of like one Tower basically right there seven different types that’s another one seven seven seven and seven when you find every piece of this rusher inside of your

World of course remember it’s going to be fully submerged in things not fully cleared out like I’ve done for you right here for example this piece of the tower right there it’s covered in gravel and some of that’ll be sus our Tower structures begin pretty humbly with a

Piece of the structure that is known as the tower top typically this is going to be the only part of the structure that is exposed on the surface now directly connected our top you’re gonna have the rest of the tower as you can see here the rest of the tower there’s a pretty

Like a what well it’s a tower it’s tall every time here this structure has a lot of terracotta going on here which I absolutely love there’s so much color in this structure also every single time here at the bottom of the structure you’re going to find layers of stone and

Cobblestone that’s gonna mean for certain every time we’re seeing stone brick or Cobblestone that’s the bottom of the tower when it comes to actual details inside of these towers I mean it’s nice you’re going to typically find like winding staircases terracotta floors and stuff but no workstations inside of the structure quite yet

Knowing the structure generates you will not see these jigsaw blocks these jigsaw blocks are basically used in structure generation connected to these jigsaw blocks you’ll have different parts of the Tower or maybe a road these parts of the tower are known as Stables The Stables are where things start to get a

Little bit more interesting they’re basically like individual buildings with sometimes dirt inside of it this one is actually pretty remarkable because you can see clearly that it used to be like a horse stable or something stable number two same thing clearly we got dirt and a sable wall stable number

Three same thing but this is how we get a cauldron inside of the structure very very interesting lore wise this one a cauldron and then finally this one is completely ruined lost a ton the platforms ah the platforms keep the interesting going we got campfires we got interesting looking weird drones

Right there we got weird chair structures sitting on and then just crazy patterns across the board this structure is all about the lore really it’s so interesting next up my friends were looking at something called the one room and again with the one room we got interesting lore stuff going on here

Looms pretty consistently inside of the one room structure it’s very very small here too finally to wrap up our Tower components we got other branches of the tower this will be like right next to the central tower these are large Halls those are small Halls that are

To be honest just about the same size the large Halls again is so cool it will be a really fun job to actually like fully rebuild this thing inside of some of these large holes here you literally got crafting tables here that means whatever Society was using the Civil War

Was well I mean it was a pretty Advanced Society they had crafting tables and we’re making things the small Halls air quads around samal they’re not very small here have the same thing you got ladders and crafting tables inside of the structure this would be a really fun

Structure to try and rebuild this wasn’t specific it always reminded me of a sage or something maybe they got Ed Sheeran concert in ancient time and then a couple more stage looking things moving on we’ve got 35 individual buildings Within These 35 individual buildings we’ve got five uh basically like

Buildings that are kind of like the same version using different blocks here so we’re building one through five right there they’re all Tower looking buildings that are they’re pretty tall inside of the individual building files here these are all called Full structures here to be honest these

Things are nice and Tall but they’re really not that interesting there’s not too many cool blocks or anything you got like winding staircases and blown up Towers sometimes ladders these group hole buildings are very very interesting inside of this group are building here my friends we have an anvil very very

Damaged let’s see better days but an anvil again with the interesting workstations a composter that’s the new one and then over here a strange staircase what is this a sacrifice these structures are seemingly generated floating which means they should be a little bit higher up connected to the

Road also seems somebody maybe somebody who could have done this forgot to gravel inside of here next up moving on we got the group rooms which is kind of funny considering the fact that these are called group rooms but they are some of the smallest components of the entire

Structure the group rooms are basically individuals single the rooms here that don’t really have much inside of them but they are interesting then we’ve got group upper which is pretty interesting we got like basically another Tower going on here sometimes with more interesting workstation related blocks inside of them crafting tables that’s

Fascinating and then basically finally Year we’re ending with a bang we got our large rooms look at this large room this would be so cool as an individual build you had to have the entrance right here you walk in you got a smithing table they must have been trimming or

Upgrading armor and then actual furnaces here with what looks like would maybe be Lava behind it and iron bars if you have a little bit of an imagination the structure gets so much better try to imagine like what would have been with this thing here we got a campfire in the

Middle with chairs around it it’s like a meeting room or something that’s so cool then we’ve got another crazy structure with a lot of color here you got a loom up top in the middle of this crazy explosion on the floor and then downstairs a basement with a cauldron oh

This is crazy and and look no hate to the villagers but some of these things get way bigger and more advanced than the actual villager structures like what this thing is so big here this was one of my favorite individual pieces of the structure here because you have like all

These lines going on in the floor it’s really really weird I don’t know what story is trying to be told here but then down here we got furnaces facing each other and like an open window going on too finally here’s some more interesting structures they’re called the one room

Ones inside of the one room ones pretty consistently we have even more workstation blocks this one right here is basically completely gone but this one is one of the best preserved pieces of this puzzle right here we got a door down here you walk into the door you got

A spiral staircase up at the top of the spiral staircase is a map table oh boy this was an advanced Society the very final category that we need to take a look at today are the decor pieces the decor pieces are different smaller pieces of the structure that

Will generate along the road typically Decor is number one it almost looks like a like a planter box or something to me Decor piece number two this is definitely a piece of the Titanic it sunk over here decord number three it’s like a I think I got a rock Decor number four

Is a rock with a little bit of terracotta on it oh get an artsy over here number five it’s like a little bit of rocks with some dirt on it oh even more fancy then we’ve got an interesting looking throne here maybe the village a bathroom I don’t know

It’s interesting and finally here as a salute to all of you who made it all the way to the end of the video we got some fun facts decor p7 look at that thing it’s remarkable it’s a reference I love me a good Easter egg in a good Easter egg well that’s exactly

What this thing is when archeology was originally shown off the pot making was completely different you had staircases a block of coke somebody would take a flint to Steel light to block a coal and heat up the pot then give it a little bit of time and the pot actually works

That individual mechanic has not made it into the game but a reference to it has we love to see it and a cold block that’s really interesting fun fact uh this one you probably put it together while we were looking at the old structure but you got some pretty

Interesting blocks that can generate here including an anvil as well look at these workstations the crafting table you also got a campfire and that block of coal what was this ancient Society up to and wow it was Advanced also when it comes to the structure as of right now this is

Going to be the only structure in the entire game that you’re actually going to be able to find mud generating as part of it you’re gonna find mud bricks all over the thing and sometimes in some pieces you’re gonna find a packed mod as well and if you’re a fan of ruining the

Past and hopes of building a brighter featuring there’s tons of bright terracotta blocks that you can take out of the structure too another fun fact for you here if you were around for the beginning of the trails and tales development you will remember that the trailer ruins used to be a little bit

Smaller and look different inside of the trailer instruction we have some smaller Towers here then we got some bigger ones at one point the trail run structure was basically updated and made a little bit bigger the trailer instructor was also designed at least in part by some of the
