How To Set Up a Minecraft Forge Server
Having the ability to host your own Minecraft server provides you with endless entertainment, as friends can join to embark on grand adventures. After defeating the Ender Dragon and completing many other tasks, you might want more content to enjoy. One way to achieve this is by making a Minecraft Forge server, opening the door for mods. This setup gives you the opportunity to add custom items, blocks, mobs, dimensions, and lots of other features to the game. As for setting this up, it’ll only take a few minutes since our panel simplifies the entire process for your convenience, so let’s go over how to do it today.
Latest Version Install
There are two possible ways to create a Forge server in Minecraft; by using the latest version or by preparing custom builds. Before getting started, you’re going to want to purchase a server if you don’t already have one. This is going to give you the panel to manage everything in the following steps. Once you do that, head towards your Apex Server panel and then find the game files section down below. Once that’s found, you can click on the currently selected option and type forge in the search bar, and when you find that, press it and confirm this in the prompts. On the final confirmation, make sure to click restart now to start loading forge.
Custom Versions Install
If you’re wanting a custom forge build, then you can find one on their official website. Make note of the version numbers since you’ll use them in the panel for an automatic installation. After you find this and copy it, you can click customizations near the left hand side of the panel and here you can enter your desired version into the Forge Installer TextBox. After doing this, just click the option and press Queue installation in the following prompt, and then you can press restart now to load the new server.
Adding Mods
Once that server setup is completed, then you can start adding mods in the FTP panel. This process involves you downloading modifications and then uploading them into the mods directory, and we have a full tutorial down below that I will link for you. In most cases you’re also going to need forge installed on your minecraft launcher along with any of the mods that you or your other players want.
Common Issues
If your server is crashing, you might have existing mods that aren’t for your selected game version or a world that doesn’t match. Make sure everything is running on the same version and if there’s still issues, you can try starting with a new server profile or restarting the server files to start with a completely clean slate. If your custom forge version isn’t being used, occasionally, the panel won’t use it due to the latest one already being active. To fix this, you can click the refresh icon or the redo action, or you can manually delete the jar folder in the FTP area and restart the server. Of course, also make sure you’re entering the correct numbers of the Forge version that you want to use. Using mods means using forge, so it’s super important that you’re familiar with the process. Our panel makes it super easy to do, making it a quick setup and you’ll be playing right away.
