Wireless Redstone has been improved a ton in Minecraft 1.20 with the new calibrated skulk sensor block vibration resonance effect and many other skulk changes learn everything about it in this guide so of course the first question would be how do you get this strange new calibrated skulk sensor Block having the appearance of the standard skulk sensor but then there is an amethyst Crystal sticking out of the top of it well the kind of obvious answer is the recipe is exactly what it looks like so to get these you first want to travel to an amethyst geode and You want to look out for the fully grown amethyst clusters and harvest them ideally with the fortune pickaxe as of course that’s going to give you the most of this amethyst Shard item you do not want to harvest these with silk touch because we don’t need the actual Amethyst cluster item we just need the fairly easy to get amethystard item however for the other half of getting these you are going to want silk touch as harvesting these skulk sensors with anything other than a silk touch tool ideally a silk touch hoe will make them Just drop experience so of course travel to a deep dark biome or an area where you have a skull Catalyst set up to grow skulk sensors and harvest as many of the skulk sensors as you can of course being careful for and looking out for the skulk shriekers this recipe as you’d Assume is a one-to-one conversion and so if you want let’s say a stack of the calibrated skulk sensor you’ll want to collect a stock of these skulk sensors alright we now have both ingredients needed and the actual recipe for this requires one skulk sensor and three of The amethyst shards so it’s pretty easy to get this and we’ll just craft these all into the calibrated skulk sensors I would also suggest though crafting some amethyst shards in a 2×2 recipe into blocks of amethyst or potentially just harvesting those from the amethyst geode itself because these blocks of amethyst Will come in handy later on let’s start talking about how this brand new skulk block actually works well a lot of this how to do with the Redstone comparator now the calibrated skulk sensor Works uniquely to other skulk sensors because you can tune it to only listen to specific frequencies without any Redstone going into the calibrated skulk sensor it’s going to function just like any other skulk sensor where basically if one of the 15 different types of signals reaches it it’ll power on which of course will then output a redstone signal to another skulk sensor or to a different Redstone device so let’s say For example we take a block of redstone and we put it right next to the skulk sensor powering it on and trying to tune it what’s going to happen well absolutely nothing because only one side of the skork sensor has the ability to receive that input and it’s right here Kind of the obvious side of it with the amethyst that sort of goes to the side there’s like this little circular shape on the edge and you can think of that as the input side so simply put your Redstone Source there that could of course be any source of redstone that There is but if we put down a redstone block that’s going to power that all the way you’ll notice just now if we walk over it if we jump we just try and do anything that would make a noise or a vibration that does not turn on what we Need to do is make a signal that this thing will listen to and because it’s fully powered that would be the skulk signal of 15 which listens to mobs and players dying or an explosion so using this handy bucket that we have let’s grab a specimen out of the river here And then see if we can get this to trigger we’ll place down a bucket of salmon and we’re gonna kill this salmon and if you notice what happens that does power on because that type of signal is achieved okay so that’s a basic way of how it works now obviously we don’t Always want this to be fully powered on how do we let’s say have this detect a different signal not just mobs dying well there’s kind of two ways the first one can use a comparator so for example we could have a composter with a comparator coming out of it then we Could use an item like pumpkin pie to power this on and with this we can basically select a certain amount of power that’ll come out of this having a barrel let’s say and having that comparator reading the barrel we could have a signal all coming out of here That is any of the 15 different power levels of redstone what do I mean by this well basically if we place down a block of redstone and we place 15 Redstone Dust to the side of it that Redstone is going to gradually have less and less power come out of it until Eventually at the very end it’ll power off but there are 15 blocks between this block and the last block that are powered and each one of those has a different power level as you’d assume and so depending on which power level the skulk sensor is being fed into the Side of it that’s going to determine what kinds of things it senses so for an example here we could have all kinds of these skulk sensors on the side here each one of them being powered with a different level each one of these is going to only trigger when a certain Action happens so for example these two ones at the end let’s have one of these power on by moving that’s because at the signal level one this is going to power on then let’s have a block be destroyed and if you notice when we do this this One right here is going to power on but of course because players not generally want to have a redstone block walk or maybe let’s say a lever with a long piece of redstone coming out of it the way of doing this a little bit more efficiently and a little bit less of a Space consuming way is to use the comparator of course so we could use the composter or we could use a barrel and fill that up with items this can work really well in creative mode but for obvious reasons in survival you don’t really want to have thousands and Thousands of items within your Redstone Creations either way though we can see what level of power this is which is eight and that means that this will actually be triggered by consuming items so if we eat right next to it that will then power on so fundamentally the idea Behind the calibrated squawk sensor is that it only is going to detect a certain power level now I’m going to go over all 15 power levels and which things each power level detects in a second but for now let’s take an interesting look at a couple other Effects of these skulk sensors one of them is the fact that just like the standard skulk sensor if we are going to water log this although it’ll still have full functionality in terms of sensing things it will not make any sound sound so you can see there it is still Lighting up and it is still powering on but we’re not getting is any sound coming from that and it does require silk touch to pick up just like its standard skulk sensor counterpart now a very important thing has been added alongside the calibrated spoke sensor And node is not a new block but it is a new use for an old block and that is the amethyst block now the amethyst block has just been given its first use that is not just decorative and that is known as the vibration resonance effect this basically is something you can use Instead of just trapdoors to make a chain of skulk sensors sending a signal to each other with the added benefit that the signal strength is preserved this is actually a really big deal because it makes a ton of very Advanced Redstone way more easy to do so for an Example here what we used to be able to do is have a skulk sensor going up to a trapdoor that would eventually connect up to another skulk sensor with a trapdoor so on and so forth basically you could have a signal go between these but there were definitely some issues to It however there is now a built-in way of doing this and that is of course with the amethyst block so for example we could go skulk sensor you have to have an amethyst block touching a skulk sensor or a calibrated skulk sensor and you’ll notice what’s happening right Here is when this power is on we can hear a small sound from the block of amethyst it’s sort of a dinging sound we had four around here we could hear all four at once you can sort of hear that bell sound there it also works on top just like This you can hear that now it’s obviously the use of this well basically we can have these link up to each other to make ourselves functional systems that’ll transport signals across skulk sensors so for example we can make a large chain of these going from skulk Sensor to sculk sensor and you do want to generally space these out a bit better than this but as an example you can see if we have a signal come to this skulk sensor right here it is going to travel across all of them lighting them All up in a chain making much much easier Wireless Redstone with this integrated effect however let’s talk a bit about the fact of this preserving the signal strength this is of course where this functionality with the calibrated skulk sensor comes in a lot more so as an example of the exact Signal being preserved across the resonance I’ll show you what that means exactly this is powered on at 8 meaning it’s only going to activate if we are eating something and this amethyst block is going to tell the next cork sensor that it’s being powered on at level 8 And so on and so forth and so if we activate any of these other blocks around here by just walking around that would only be power level one or two as you can see the comparator reading the last skulk sensor here is showing us that it is only being powered on to Blocks because it’s just from us moving around and jumping however if we hit something next to this block which is specifically meant to be sensing us eating something what’s gonna happen is it’s gonna send that signal across there and that lamp up there is going to turn On as you can see now let’s say we consume an item right here next to these skulk sensors it is going to power on that as well you might be wondering then what’s the difference between the calibrated skulk sensor and the standard skulk sensor if we eat something next to Here and that powers on also well the calibrated skulk sensor is going to blind out every single frequency except for the exact one that you’re powering this on at whereas these ones will pick up on any frequency and so basically that allows us to use this effect to Have certain signals be captured and then transported across distances wirelessly while also having preserved the exact signal as again we can see right here we next to it the power goes across there and that lamp will turn on but if we just jump and move around here That lamp is not going to turn on because that power level is not being sensed another very important thing to know about the calibrated skulk sensor that you can notice right here is that one side of this is strictly for a redstone input and the other three sides Are strictly for a redstone output so for example let’s say we surround this in Spruce trap doors you’ll notice this one on the side where the input is will never power on or as a standard skulk sensor a fully surrounded and Spruce trapdoors all three of those trap doors With power on and then power off because it does not have that specific side that’s being used for an input now something really important to know about the skulk resonance effect is how much distance from the amethyst block that signal can travel what do I mean well For an example if we have this squawk sensor turn on how many walks away can this amethyst block send a signal to another skulk sensor the answer is right in front of us and that is seven so counting from this we can go one two three four five six seven and on the Eighth block away we have that so that’s seven blocks of Gap in between there of course and so if you want to set up a big chain of these what you’ll want to do is go skulk sensor amethyst block seven spaces and a skulk sensor amethyst Block 7 spaces so on and so forth also something important to know is that you do have to have each one of the calibrated skulk sensors be individually powered at the right power level if you want to have their not be interference when you have a big chain of those but Anyway on to a really important part of this which is the fact that skulk signals have been fundamentally changed so basically what powers things on at the power levels between 1 to 15 is much different now than it used to be and I’m going to go over what all those things Are and so then you’ll also know what will trigger each different powered type of the calibrated skull sensors alright so for power level one it’ll basically make a skulk sensor output a power of one if it’s out of a comparator or it’ll make the calibrated skulk sensor trigger At all if we want to get this trigger at level 1 we have to have movement and land water error so that could mean running around that could also for an example mean swimming now for power level 2 we have to have landing on any surface this can literally be as simple As jumping and Landing back down on the ground you’ll notice this power level 2 sensor just powered on and out of this if we jump and land back on the way down two of these are also going to be powered on for the third power level we have item interactions so that for Example could be using a spy glass you can soon we use it this third skulk sensor is powered on that could also mean not fully consuming but just right clicking a little bit or using for a slight second a food item now for power level 4 we have a couple more specific Things one of them is gliding with an elytra you can notice here this fourth skulk sensor turned on when we flew over over it we can also trigger that again by simply gliding next to this however as well as that we have unique mob actions you might be wondering what in The world those are well I’ll show you now for an example we’ve a wolf that just got out of the water and it’s eventually gonna shake itself off and that action of shaking itself off if it was near enough to one of these sensors would power that on at level four Equipping gear so for example putting on the selectra is going to power things at level five however interestingly enough d-quipping armor does not have a signal to it but for example if we got off this pig right here that is of course dismounting a mob that is going to power This on at level five now the action of getting on a mob so that could be for example interacting with a horse and riding it or any other interaction with the mob is going to count as power level six so for an example if we right click On our cat right here and give it food you can see this is powered on at level six you’ll notice right clicking on this cat and having it sit up and down does not actually have that go on but basically any interaction you have with The mob that is not getting off of it will make it power on at level six at power level 7 we have mobs and players getting damaged so for example if we hit this cow right here you can see that this skulk sensor that is powered on at Level 7 will turn on at level 8 we have consuming items so this could be something like drinking a potion or it could also be eating food if we for example eat bread right next to this you’ll notice that at power level 8 it does turn on at power level 9 we have Blocks deactivating so for an example this could be a chest closing once you press the button it then unpressing or maybe you closing a door after it’s opened so as an example right here we’re gonna now exit this chest and this skulk sensor right here is going to turn on at That power level of nine of course the one right after it which is power level 10 is the opposite that is blocks activating a door opening a chest opening a button being pressed so if we just look into this chest right here you’ll notice that this one at level 10 Turns on and of course the one at level 9 turns on two because this just closed at power level 11 we have blocks changing this basically means anything where the exact state of a block is not destroyed or placed but it is changed in some way so for an example this wouldn’t Actually mean something like let’s say eating cake although you would assume it does that’s counted as eating however if we let’s say right click on a cauldron which would change its state you can see at this power level right here does turn on another example of this could be Let’s say adding food to a campfire power level 13 and 14 are both quite easy at power level 12 we have blocks being destroyed so let’s place down some slime and then break it you’ll notice here at power level 12 that does turn on and we break these blocks and of course That could be any block or item being destroyed not power level 13 we have blocks being placed you’ll notice this one right here turns on when we place any blocks nearby it now power level 14 we have mobs and players teleporting or spawning so for an example if we use a Spawn egg right next to this you can see it’s about to turn on this could be super useful if you have a mob farm and you want to know if mobs are actually spawning in it or not and at power level 15 we have mobs and players dying or an Explosion happening so we’re gonna light off a piece of TNT and see if we can get this power level 15 to turn on there is an explosion and yes indeed it does turn on and of course if a player or mob died next to this as well that would also Activate so that is the new skulk signal chart now I have a whole other video on skulk blocks that I would suggest referencing for more information on their General use let’s talk a little bit about the builds that are now possible with these calibrated squawk sensors because they do seem a bit Niche One of the biggest things is a telegraph so the idea is we could basically have a signal be picked up like let’s say eating next to her that’s only triggered on by that and that’ll make that light turn on but imagine this being something else maybe this could be TNT or this Could be like a warning firework or even a message we could have something where if a certain action is taken that signal is sent but also there’s a lot of compression there where we can have 15 different types of messages be sent through a very small space so if you are Trying to have a wire in Minecraft connect one area of redstone to another you could definitely use the wireless Redstone for that and so of course that would mean less bulky Redstone signal movers you could even have a signal password or let’s say we have to have a Certain action next to this for this to power on so just standard things are not going to have this power on but eating next to it that will have it power on and then of course that light could be a secret door that opens up next to it and Of course at the end of the day this allows us to pick up on and transport specific signals instead of just general signals and of course something really important to know is just like with the standard skulk sensor wool does block signals from traveling to it and so you Can use this to basically insulate your wires or insulate your Pathways or signals are being reached of course also if you’re walking on top of these that’s going to stop the signal from going so just be aware of that using wool to basically stop signals from interfering Too much because then of course we can have a tube of wool that’s going to go around there that is going to have the signals go through it without having just any old signal cause interference anyway I hope you enjoyed that calibrated skulk sensor and skulk Resonance guide if you did make sure to send a signal to the like button subscribe to see more
