Foreign this video intended for educational purposes hey guys it’s Adam AKA swimmingbird and welcome back for another Minecraft 1.8 snapshot this is 14w28b and this week we’ve got some big news about the feature of the 1.8 update as well as some new features in this week’s Snapshot to discuss so let’s get into it now we’re going to start with a tweet from dinnerbone he says don’t expect much or any new features in new 1.8 snapshots we’re going to focus on finalizing existing ones optimizations and Bug fixes meaning that 1.8 is very close to release they’re going to do Their bug fixes try to get everything sorted out so that they can get this update out to the public now on the other hand it’s a little bittersweet because Minecraft players always want new features new things to discover when they get a game and this means this is The end of the 1.8 features for the most part until we get 1.9 we probably won’t see anything groundbreaking but at the same time dinnerbone does say he’s finalizing existing features meaning things like the bunny rabbit could get its new sounds stuff like that I’m really hoping that the endermite gets Its interaction with the Ender Dragon that Denver own tees but yeah we can get some improvements to the existing ones they just probably won’t be adding like a new mob or something for 1.8 at this point since it’s so late in the update development now developer Serge also Added my guess is that the 1.8 update changes almost all source files in Minecraft since 1.7 it’s a huge step forward meaning we probably won’t see any mods updating to 1.8 anytime soon but it’s just going to show how many new things we got in the game how many game Changing features we’ve got slime blocks connecting and bouncing people around prismarine underwater Ocean Monuments the Ender might the Guardians all this good stuff bunny rabbits I’m excited to play 1.8 in the official release now one thing I wanted to add about the rabbits when I originally played the first Snapshot with them I couldn’t find them in the wild anywhere but as you can see they’re all over here in this Taiga and mega Taiga area they spawn in most biomes it seems a lot of people were letting me know that they saw them in the snapshot so yeah the rabbits are Already spawning if they get their sound effects as the MOG Miner was inquiring about with the composer C418 then that would be really cool I’d like to hear these guys actually make sounds so the updates this week in the snapshot servers and the single player client Actually had a big update in terms of optimizations they now run a lot more smoothly so it should be good especially for people with lower end computers and servers can now choose to customize the network compression in their server properties meaning they can send out less data which will mean less Network Lag but it also means that people are going to need a bit of a better computer to run it so this is up to the server whether they want to do it most servers will probably try to take the brunt of the work on themselves because most Players might not be playing with a super fast computer but it’s nice to know that you have options to make the lag alleviated on a few servers now down here we’ve got a new feature this little bunny rabbit sitting right on it so in the past enchantments and potion effects You would have to actually use numbers to pick which one you wanted to do so I would always have to like open up the Minecraft Wiki to figure out what the number for jump boost and stuff is but as you can see here you can just put in The name now you put in how long you want it for for and then what level it is and you can put true if you don’t want particles to fly around now I have jump boost you can do the same with enchantments like if I had a sword in my Hand and I use sharpness I just put level five then you can very easily get a sharpness five enchantment so yeah this is a very quick way to get enchantments and potion effects without needing to know all the different ID numbers kind of like the blocks got Switched over now in video settings this was a new feature recently in the last couple snapshots we got these alternative blocks which means you can have variations on the blocks like maybe a chunk of dirt that has like a flower growing off of it or something like that Like embedded in it things like that or differences in how a lot of the different blocks and things look now this has been added where you can turn it on and off if you don’t want to use this this is very useful for resource packs because they can add things like That now a user on Reddit named Meiji JS made this really cool alternative default pack as you can see here so here are like variations in books you can see the old style of gravel is actually back in this pack and it sometimes pops up There’s like a bone in some uh in some Stone there variations on diamonds grass length different mushroom length there’s a giant potato that pops out occasionally you get the Roses instead of the poppies sometimes stuff like that it’s all visual changes a bunch of lily Pads there but it makes the game look uh much more interesting and cool so yeah I think it’s a good addition you can have a resource pack this way and if you don’t want it though you can just turn it off in the options very easily with that new alternative block States switch There now block States in general have all been changed so that all the blocks use block States now making the game a bit quicker and how it decides whether a block has grass on it or things like that speeding up the game we got a new command called command stats this is Useful for if you have a command block or a sign for like a game and you want to use a scoreboard to interact with it you can keep track of how to how much stats have been like poured out from a command blocker how many times a player Has done a certain thing and add and subtract them this is my mostly useful for map makers and server operators and stuff like that now developer surge he tweeted this quick pull for my followers in survival what do you enjoy more Base building or exploring the world and he Also followed up saying that he never uses F3 when he explores because he doesn’t like to have all the coordinates and stuff all over his screen so he added a new feature called reduced debug info and you can toggle this in the options in future snapshots but it Basically makes it so that there’s less info here you get the coordinates and your frame rate and stuff but you don’t get all of this info so it’s a lot easier to explore and just have your coordinates popped up there but the fact that he’s asking if you like exploration Or building more makes me think that he’s thinking about some other new features to add in the game so a few bug fixes before we finish up here TNT had some really bad Z fighting that’s when textures seem to overlap when they’re flat it’s like the TNT texture on the Side here would go over that and it would have a lot of weird Collision where it would look all like a staticky and stuff but now it’s just one solid thing when you when you detonate TNT there a few other things rain was going through upside down stairs if you had Them in your base you would get like rain pouring through if you slept in a bed near a transparent block like a leaf block or like glass you would accidentally go inside of it and some things you could suffocate in if you uh if you woke up and you would just pop Into that block double slabs have that really cool seamless look but that was a bug so we can’t stack two double slabs to make like a a you know seamless block there that we’ve gotten in other updates and then finally item frames were using the oak texture on the side but they’re Now using the Birch texture again so they look more normal but that is pretty much it like I said lots of optimizations now we’re gonna get a lot of you know tweaking to the features that are already existing in the coming weeks and hopefully we will have 1.8 by The end of the summer thank you guys for watching please leave a like if you enjoyed this if you’re curious about all the 1.8 features like rabbits and the new Guardian mob and stuff like that check out some of my previous snapshot videos once again thanks for watching And I’ll see you next time for more snapshot updates
