This is minecraft dungeons this was provided by a Microsoft to check out this is Xbox 1x enhanced for a 4k resolution with no HDR support this is a up to four player cooperative experience where you play four players locally or four players online there is no matchmaking but they are looking at Introducing cross play post-launch so that everyone can play together so fairly simple starting points you got this little camp area get all these cool abilities you need to get them through your blacksmith or through your artifact guy the wandering trader or you can find Loot and stuff in the game so this is a dungeon crawling game in the style of Minecraft it’s the first big game spin-off for the series and yeah it’s quite an interesting one at that so you get a number of levels to work through and each feature a distinct area and Biome within the world of Minecraft but they take that a little bit further to when they do some really interesting things with the design in the world there are new mobs and that includes a bunch of brand new enemies with very large scary monster bosses to take out And they also bring in basically all of the existing mobs that you would expect to see in this kind of experience it’s a very lovely and well designed game it’s got the heart of the series presented in it and yeah it was a very enjoyable playthrough you can have fun whether You’re doing this alone or with others I did most of my campaign so what I’ve also done a fair bit of co-op – to see what that is like it’s in the game no class is anything like that you basically build your character however you want them to be you get a Number of neat abilities such as which are basically these artifacts so you can do things such as shooting fireworks explosive arrow or you might be able to summon uh pets such as like a llama spits a thing so where you might be able to get a wolf or a Gollum And that’s kind of really interesting you continue to better versions of that loot you also get different weapons and you can add artifacts well not artifacts but basically these enchantments to them and that increases their ability in unique and dynamic ways depending on the type of weapon you get Give a sword that might have an extra damage boost or maybe it has some sort of elemental effects I’ve had the ability to roll and cause fire on the ground I’ve had armor that shoots off snowballs occasionally to stun enemies you never know what you’re gonna get and The enchantments kind of allow you to choose what you want effects wise on your variants for armor and weapons and tools and I think that’s really interesting it’s kind of create whatever sort of weird funky class you want and like with all dungeon crawling games the idea is replayability and there are tons Of difficulty tiers and options present whether you want to tackle this alone or with others is up to you but I think there’s just a lot of potential game play time here now I was expecting the main story to be a bit longer in terms of the levels Present but honestly it was a more than great amount of content present just in the initial playthrough and then you kind of want to go back for more because you enjoyed the the systems of looting and collecting items it’s just a ton of fun it all plays very well I did notice An occasional like stutter here or there as playing and while I was playing but nothing that was like detrimental to my gameplay experience and maybe a little bit of extra polishing would have been nice as some enemies seem to spawn outside of certain things on ledges than That so that was a bit odd but those parts don’t really pop up too often so in the game it gets got light puzzle elements in regards it’s like opening some doors or gathering keys the keys are hilarious actually you get hit and the Keele start like running away I Thought that was a little bit funny and yeah it’s just got the full charm of the Minecraft series that you would expect but in a different format and it works really well here I was truly surprised by just how fun this was to play how Much depth there is to the world and the looting system and the fact that you just keep on mulching and the levels you know you get a little bit of variance between them so when you are replaying things it’s kind of a different experience each time which kind of keeps it fresh at Least I felt that it was original of each time I tried to tackle an area it just kept on you know presenting new challenges and of course as you leveled up and then you went back to replay levels in the higher tier difficulties you know things change a lot more in Terms of like the quantity of enemies the tiers of difficulty with those enemies and just what you could do within them and I thought that was very well done this is a ton of fun to play but it’s also a very challenging game too at times so this is something that I Think anyone can cut jump in and play just like regular Minecraft as you learn and level and kind of grind your loot right it it’s not actually really much of a crime it’s just kind of like a work towards getting loose it’s a fun process because they’re just battling and you Feel like you’re constantly getting things whether you’re laying attacking a loot page or opening chests gathering emeralds to do the random draws in the camp or any other means of you know gathering enough loot to keep on fighting along and getting new stuff so that you can keep you can constantly Feel like you’re evolving and being rewarded for playing the game which is nice compared to you know some titles out there but yeah like I was saying you know just things continue to get amped up and just hard more and more hardcore as you progress if you so choose to do That kind of method of play you know but you would get better loot better rewards for the bigger the challenge it’s very fair but there is that difficulty edge that I was talking about as you get along and then it’s got some harder moments to it and either your need gonna Need to coordinate better as a team which they give you good in-game options for doing so if you’d like or you’re just gonna have to be smarter in the solo and kind of like you know take an area by area cuz you know you can you Can run by things to some degree if you’re having air issues but you know sometimes you really got to sit there and kind of mulch down the enemies and then take it bit by bit and easier various artifacts and skills and tools that you’ve collected in order to be More effective out there because you know it’s good to have a wolf pal I’ve had a bat flying around to the help there’s all kinds of different little things you can have and it’s just got that like fun little minecraft charm to it it is very much a linear sort of Experience there are little side paths that you can venture off into where you might be rewarded with some loot depending on the area there there’s some little secrets and stuff to find a little special bonus chests come across and just like a wide range I guess you Could say of weapons and tools to acquire as you play it’s not just swords you might find googled daggers or like a mace or something like that there there’s all kinds of different things bows crossbows maybe a staff different abilities and I think they’ve got a good Balance in terms of like the content the difficulty in the gameplay I just was never expecting the experience to be this well put together it’s very happy with the overall package in the gorgeous worlds that we get to discover the visual style of this game is seriously Just remarkable they live done such a good job on the aesthetic and it perfectly captures the nature of Minecraft and presents it an entirely new angle as you’ve been seeing the whole time the little animation work from the mobs to the grass trees how it Kind of goes along it just feels like a very lively in realistic world with a detail style that really does transcend the base version of Minecraft it was more than pleasantly surprised every area is like filled with little particle effects and damage content within the combat as you’re moving along you know Seeing enemies get like mulch down seeing explosions seeing like intense mythical moments as like these huge mobs come out of nowhere of course we’ve even got our little passive mops too that were present in the game well let’s kind of drop little things and then you’re just constantly getting New drops finding new secrets and in emeralds and gems to collect in order to you know use those to get better armor and it all feeds into the armor system it’s something that has layers of complexity to it in terms of like understanding the mechanics and taking Out enemies and building your you know your class getting it set up but then at the same time it’s simple enough that anyone can jump in here and you know have a good time with it and have fun together and I think that’s important for what minecraft is as a title because My crafts are something I’ve been playing for you know a very long time at this point and it’s great to see that it does actually go past what the original game is you can’t use it with other game genres and types and I didn’t love to see that explored in the future because I think there’s a lot more potential with what minecraft as an idea can do because they they clearly delivered with this one it is just so much fun to play it it’s got a difficulty edge to it you know like it can be a challenge at times But it’s a fun one to keep on just like working through getting new kind of gear changing up how the character looks levelling up and it’s something that presents I think a set amount of gameplay but something that you could keep going back to if you enjoy that Thrill of wanting and an additional challenge wanting to gather new loot wanting to get new materials and wanting to improve your character of that option is very much alive in this one and very much well done this was just a great time to have I was very surprised so Much fun so many hit me is the battle and you know grind up an attack and you know swing through in it like you know I get a new tool and then playing around with that tool seeing how it plays you know different types of boat was like Some of your boys shoot really fast and they’re really slow and you never quite know what you’re gonna see too right you got other players if they jump in cooperatively they can have an entirely different build in comparison to what you’ve got going on here and I love that They moved away from like the traditional concept of having Space Systems here you can feel whatever kind of niche you want to you play more squad base you can be more solo and you can hold on to all your loot too so that you can change on the fly it’s like is This area not working because I have this combination of artifacts or weapons let’s try something different you know those options are present you’re not locked down and you’re constantly getting nice relevant loot the whole way through as you explore a series of beautiful it’s just generally gorgeous looking environments spooky caves Mystical side paths big grueling creatures that you have to battle in the arena you know because there are little arena things surviving waves and just the gameplay was constantly different the whole way through and I was pleasantly surprised by what they were able to deliver here I think they’ve got A big gem on the way in terms of something people are gonna be playing for a long time down the road especially if it’s properly supported content wise I think this was really well done and I can’t wait to see what they do next after this because I think there’s a lot More potential for what minecraft can become down the road Video Information
