How to Host and Configure Your Own Minecraft Server
Are you ready to take your Minecraft experience to the next level by hosting and configuring your own server? No-IP makes it easy! Follow these simple steps to get started today.
Downloading the Minecraft Server Software
To begin, visit minecraft.net/en/download/server/ and click on minecraft_server.1.10.jar to start the download. Once the file is downloaded, create a new folder on your desktop and move the file into it. Double-click the file to run the server, which will create three new files: Logs, server.properties, and EULA. Open the EULA file using a text editor and change false to true to agree to Minecraft’s EULA agreement.
Port Forwarding
After starting your Minecraft server, you’ll need to port forward port 25565 to the internal IP address of your server in your router. Sign into your router and locate the port forward settings. Fill in the necessary information, such as the service name, port range, local IP, and local port. Once complete, check that port 25565 is open using a port check tool.
Configuring No-IP
To keep No-IP up to date with your changing IP address, download the free Dynamic Update Client (DUC) from www.noip.com/download. After downloading the DUC, open the file, read and agree to the License Agreement, and log in with your No-IP email address and password. Select the hostname you want associated with the client, save your settings, and ensure that your computer and DUC are running at all times for the host to be updated whenever your IP address changes.
Connecting to Your Server
Once everything is set up, you should be able to connect to your server using your No-IP hostname, for example, yourname.serveminecraft.net:25565. Share this information with your friends, and they should be able to connect as well.
By following these steps, you can easily host and configure your own Minecraft server, providing a unique and personalized gaming experience for you and your friends. Get ready to take your Minecraft adventures to the next level!
