Hello everyone my name is Pixar IFS and welcome back to the Minecraft Survival Guide hope you guys are having a good day the Sun is rising here over our turtle colony where I came back after the last episode to do a little bit more work on the island I think it’s looking Really nice now a few palm trees around here see pickles on the fences I love the fact that that lines up perfectly like the four pixel wide sea pickle just kind of fits perfectly on top of a fence post it’s a magical thing I also did a Little bit of lighting up of the surrounding area with the water because the sea pickles in water can give off a nice light level and we have ourselves a bunch of little baby hatchling turtles which I’ve been overseeing in order to get myself a few more scoots cuz I felt Kind of bad that we just went away like we brewed up our first turtle helmet into a potion I figured it would be kind of nice to get ourselves some more scoot and make a more permanent Turtle helmet for us to have just as a memento of the Time we’ve spent here with the turtles so there we go we will probably leave these guys to it now we’ve got a bunch of turtles baby tails around here slowly growing up and the turtle sanctuary is pretty well defended as of right now it isn’t really possible for anything other Than adult turtle to get out and even then there are only a couple of places where they can do that mostly where their hitbox will allow them to go from like more blocky sections like the leaves and the slabs around here over on top of the fences that surround the Place and get out for the most part that’s not really possible so it definitely means the babies will stay in and it means that the adult turtles can kind of hang out in here and be happy and be protected first and foremost from all of the undead Marauders who come Along trying to stomp on their eggs so I’m gonna take my boat home with me surprisingly I’m not actually going to use it in the water right now I’m just gonna head back to the Guardian farm take the boat path through the nether back to the farm house and then we’re Gonna do some work on a kind of a large project I guess we’re gonna switch gears a little bit here because I have decided after all this time not making progress on it that I don’t really like the direction I was going with the nether Hub at first is sort of made sense to make a series of castle corridors like this if some of the locations we were going to have nether portals to work closer together but as we now know from the boat path and from all of the other stuff that we’ve laid out around here There are a ton of locations which are much further afield there don’t really feel like we can incorporate them into the structure of the castle so I want to change up how I’m approaching the nether hub project and that’s probably going to be the focus of this episode we are definitely Not going to get the entire thing done today because what I have in mind is something rather large imagine the shape of like a honey dipper honey stirrer kind of things like whether a series of circles in varying sizes usually kind of widening out towards the middle all Connected by the central spindle right that’s kind of the idea I’m going with like a series of circular platforms vertically spaced out in the nether so we can start off with a circle up near the nether roof and in fact it’s probably going to end up with a circle On top of the nether roof when we make the the donut style gold farm the zombie pigmen gold an XP farm the kind of optimal design for that is a big circular area on top of the nether roof so we’re going to mess with that in a Future episode but for now I want to start plotting out a series of circles and the reason for that is because there are lots of different ways to get around in the nether in terms of transportation we’ve already started on some ice boat roads down there which take us out to The guardian farm mushroom island and the Mesa jungle megataiga combo that I found in a previous episode we’ve got this layer here which takes us to a lot of locations around the overworld considering this is at roughly sea level around y63 that’s where a lot of the surface portals are going to generate But then maybe we’ll have projects underground that we want nether portals to where it makes a little bit more sense to match up the location of the portal with a portal further down in the nether so what I want is a series of giant circles here in the nether and Each layer of the nether hub is going to have a different functions so there’s probably going to be one like this around this level which is just going to be a walking nether hub there’s going to be a a nice wide circle hopefully a spawn proofed as we can make it that’s Going to provide access to most of the portals that it’s going to be possible to walk to in a regular sort of way like the swamp portal over there maybe even the portal out there towards the village that could be incorporated into it although that’s a little bit further Away as well most of these projects around here that are within walking distance will be incorporated into the the social layer of the nether hub or at least that lair of the nether hub that corresponds best with the overworld below that there’s going to be one that’s intended More for fast travel so stuff like the boat paths that will take us out to far-flung locations so that we can get there nice and quickly and down there we will probably keep some sort of storage system or maybe even a dispenser system for the boats that we’re using to travel Around on the ice roads one of these levels is also going to have to be dedicated to the farms that we have built here in the nether quite aside from the gold farm that we’re going to build on the nether roof we already have one that’s up closer to the ceiling but Then we have this one over here which is our blaze farm we’re also going to eventually make a wither skeleton farm using the fortress that’s further off in that direction there are a few different things that we can farm here in the nether that it’s going to make sense to Have access to via one of these nether hubs these sort of central wheels of the nether hub and then I want the central spindle the kind of core of the honey stirrer to just be a giant portal back home then again I kind of want the location of home to change as well Because when I first approached this world I was thinking about what was convenient for me as a player and it made sense to build a nether portal there because it was a nice easy location to get to and from our spawn house here the first farmhouse that we Built and to be honest in terms of the fiction of the world that I’m now looking at the idea that there are multiple kingdoms in this world and that the founders Forge area is all centered around this ravine it doesn’t really make sense that the average farmer is Going to have access to the nether what I actually want is for the castle in founders Forge to kind of be a base of operations and now I have built the castle yet that’s coming up in a future episode I’m sure but I want a nether portal to be over there because the People in the castle are gonna be the ones who have access to the nether they’re gonna be the ones who are smelting stuff with lava and blaze rods and it kind of gives them a sense of power over the surrounding environment if they are the only ones who can really Use the nether they could also use it for fast transport for diplomatic missions to other kingdoms that kind of thing there is a a law I am working on here that the kind of story of this area that will kind of make sense that the castle is the place that has the nether Portal and also it’s going to be nice to pop out of the nether straight into a big old castle once we get that built but I am thinking what I want to do is take the coordinates of a nether portal over there and maybe start the hub focused around That just because this is the first nether portal that we put in the nether in the first place does not necessarily mean it has to be our central nether portal we can change that idea up what I have done is collected a whole lot of obsidian and you might think picks that Doesn’t look like a whole lot of obsidian you are correct this is a whole lot of obsidian the contents of this chest were mined out on a live stream from one of the obsidian towers in the end the ones that the ender dragon actually flies around when you fight it And this this took a long time but I was using a haste to beacon I was mining it out slowly but surely and I had some people to talk to in my twitch chats so I really didn’t need to worry too much about the time it was taking right so we Have ourselves stacked upon stacks of obsidian that we can use to create nether portals maybe even do some decoration I kind of want to work on a an overworld gold farm that largely uses nether portals to spawn Pigman at some point as well so we’ll probably save Some of it for that but for now we are pretty set up for nether portal materials so I’m actually going to take the first let’s take 32 let’s actually build a larger than average nether portal for this castle because believe it or not nether portals can get pretty Big I’ve built large ones in other series if you want to go back and check those out but the maximum size of a nether portal it still has to be a rectangular shape but it can be 23 by 23 which is pretty darned large if you ask Me it is larger than you would expect to build pretty much anything like even this windmill here isn’t 20 blocks tall so yeah you can expect that to be a pretty large portal but for now I think we will probably build a fairly impressive portal somewhere over here And I think yeah it’s gonna be quite far back in the castle cuz it’s not gonna be like the first thing people see when they come in that we don’t really want to advertise the fact that these guys have the nether portal so I’m probably going to take down this tree and build The nether portal somewhere around here now 32 blocks will get us a 10 by 6 portal or an 11 by 5 or maybe go one two three four five six seven eight nine and then we have 23 blocks left to work with there we go nine by seven and this tree Is still D spawning in the middle of it that’s that’s fairly large fairly largest nether portals go and we could probably do a little bit to actually dress this up maybe with some more obsidian we can make it into like a dreads portal kind of thing build a little bit more stuff Around it make it a bit more imposing if we want to but the idea still is that the castle is going to have this as a secret from the rest of the town so yeah maybe we will maybe we will hide it away in a back room somewhere or maybe even Move it down to a basement level that you have to go down some some dungeon stairs to reach it either way the coordinates of this one are roughly seven or eight and of 460 ish so that’s going to be fairly easy to calculate where it is in the nether I Mean the v8 is just going to translate to a 1 and the 460 I will probably have to not do in my head right now 50 7.5 okay it’s gonna be at 150 7.5 I still need to light the portal in the overworld for it to activate those so Let’s go grab a flint and steel and even better what we actually get from those coordinates is a hub that starts kind of in the middle of this nether fortress which is kind of nice to have an analogous location to the castle that we’re going to be building in the Overworld because basically this is like another castle essentially so I’m gonna spend a significant amount of time in livestreams probably in the next few weeks or so tearing down sections of the nether and basically turning them into something a little bit more approximating what I want from a nether Hub and it’s going to mean basically spawn proofing all of this area because I don’t want wither skeletons to turn up in my nether hub of Berk that’s effectively what we’re gonna get if it intersects the bounding box of this nether fortress occasionally where the skeletons will spawn here so I’ll have To make a lot of the floor out of slabs and stuff like that which is gonna mean a lot of stonework probably a few colorful touches here and there but a lot of spawn proofing with carpets I’m gonna get started on this now this just Sort of where my brain is at at the moment so I really want to make some changes to the nether it’s been a while since we’ve done any work here and I’m gonna spend a bit of time off-camera giving this a go hey folks welcome back and welcome to The foundations of what is going to be the brand-new nether hub or at least the first circle of it there are going to be so many circles to this thing and I am frankly kind of terrified of circles now because this thing was an ordeal to make For a start we have in the center here a nine by nine area of nether portals and this nine by nine area is basically going to start the pillar up the center of this thing and down from the center of this thing actually because there are Going to be circles that extend to the bedrock floor as well oh my gosh that’s a lot of Enderman as you can see this place has become a bit of a spawning ground for mobs including ghasts and that’s my fault for raising the ceiling a little bit really but eventually this Whole thing is going to be spawn proofed I had a little bit of back and forth about what exactly I want to use for the floor in here and I’ve decided that rather than use slabs which would be spawn proof I want to use some transparent blocks mainly glass so that Mobs still cannot spawn on it but I can choose what floor I want to put underneath and each of these arms of prismarine extends out 64 blocks from the edge of the portal taking us to a circle which has a diameter of 137 blocks that’s 64 blocks here nine blocks In the middle of the portal and then 64 on the opposite side as well and boy was this an ordeal to make I used plots for this the same generator the shape generator that I have used in the past to make the sphere of the hot air Balloon that covers the mob farm and this was a bit of an ordeal because I couldn’t quite work out the dimensions I built it wrong a whole bunch of times before we got it right and yes we got attacked by ghasts basically the entire time the prismarine actually was kind of A spur-of-the-moment decision for what to build this whole circle out of but the logic behind it is relatively solid first of all it’s not a permanent thing it’s just showing you guys the like radius and the perimeter I guess of this this whole area secondly it’s not a Material I’ve already used in the nether so it’s obvious that I don’t need to take down the prison Marine whereas I do need to take down any of the existing nether hub that is already here within this circle and also it stands out against the background of the nether There are no blocks in the nether that look like they whereas of course if I’d built this out of netherrack or even like stone brick at this point I would be utterly confused about what was part of the circle and what was part of what I’d already built all the furniture of the Nether itself but thank goodness we’ve got a guardian farm because otherwise this amount of for his marine would have been a little bit difficult to come by the next phase of this nether hub project is probably to map out a few of the other circles and then to start Clearing this out even more thoroughly as you can see right now the main reason I want to spawn proof this is that a lot of it bisects the boundary of the nether fortress here and as you can see we have a couple of people spawning around here And by people I mean with the skeletons I still haven’t got myself another wither skeleton skull which is kind of a shame because I do really want to get my skull and crossbones shield back as well as maybe fight the wither a couple more times so having said that we are going To spawn proof this entire area with glass which is going to take a lot of sand gathering so this is going to be an ongoing project you are by no means about to see the completion of this by the end of the episode no jump cut is going to make this thing complete Unfortunately it’s gonna be a project that will take a little while but during that time there are a few things I want to explore with this sort of nether area in general and some stuff that you’ll see popping up in future episodes for a start transport solutions how are we Going to get easily up and down in the nether without any kind of water elevators because bubble column elevators are ones that we have used elsewhere in the overworld but it isn’t possible to have water in the nether so I’m thinking minecart elevators might be An option I have a couple of ideas for stuff like that there are also going to be places that we can use Elektra to gain some height there is also going to probably be a flying level where I can just use my Electra to fly long distances instead of having to worry About having a boat on me to use the boat paths or minecarts or anything like that we’re probably going to look a little bit into automated minecart stations for some of the lower levels of this there are a whole bunch of projects that are suggesting themselves to me Right now but the first thing I really need to do is take down the remains of the nether portal in here it was a great start to this project but I really feel like my ideas have outgrown this design and the whole castle idea of it wasn’t going to be a Particularly strong one considering that we’re just going to be building a castle in the overworld and all of this while nice and decorative was getting very stone bricky so having had a such an ordeal making this whole circle in the first place I feel like I want to unwind A little bit and we are going to be taking out the rest of the castle from inside the circle with a nice easy time-lapse [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] You welcome back folks hope you enjoyed the time-lapse I am on my way to do the last thing I wanted to do in this episode sad though it may be we’ve taken down the nether side entrance so the portal at the farmhouse has to go there is no Longer gonna be a nether portal here but I feel like maybe just maybe as a bit of a memento we should keep a couple of portions of the frame here just to kind of say yeah this is where we had a nether portal once upon a time maybe Even this might have been where the nether in the story of this world was first discovered but maybe the authorities that found his Forge eventually took care of that the nether portal here is gone and maybe we can maybe have this overgrown or something like that but the frame and The memories remain and we will have a lot of fun building a castle around that nether portal that we’ve established today I will do a whole bunch of work on the nether hub in the weeks to come and yeah we definitely need to build something around this now because look At this thing it’s like a giant TV screen in the middle of the plains over there we need to surround that with stuff and make it look good but for now that is gonna be it for this episode of the Minecraft Survival Guide I hope you guys have enjoyed this look at the Changes that are coming to the world some brand new near the hub developments and I hope you guys will be along for the ride my name is Ben Pixar if don’t forget to leave a like on this episode if you enjoyed it subscribe if you want To see more and I will see you guys soon take care bye for now Video Information
