Hello everyone my name is Pixar IFS and welcome back to the Minecraft Survival Guide I hope you guys are having a good day today we are back for a mountain progress update yeah you’ve been seeing this project along we’re not gonna focus too much on the mountain area today We’re actually going to go to somewhere a little bit warmer but first of all I thought I might as well show you guys how all of this is going because I have built more or less most of the front face over this mountain here and I Thought I would go along and deal with this one on it’s right here because we actually are gonna create a mountain range here we kind of need a lot of this to be connected up and it’s in the valleys between each of these peaks that we are going to build our primary ski Routes what that means of course is that I have to build up all of the mountains surrounding this before I actually get to do the fun part and designer ski route and it is going to take a little while before we managed to get that done but the good news is the cobblestone Production has been doing super well the machine is off right now and I don’t think there’s a huge amount left in the chests because I did disable the machine after a little while the upshot of that being that this machine produced probably I would estimate four times the Amount of stone I ended up placing on the mountain side of that day I went through a single shelcha box of stone and by the time I came down here I had enough to fill about four of my empty once so realistically this machine is More than we would ever need as far as the speed of it compared to the speed I can build the mountain but it is certainly going to be really really useful to have all of those materials at our disposal anytime and people asking if this farm was going to be permanent Or temporary I think I’m gonna leave it under here just so if I ever need to get a ton of cobblestone or stone in the near future I can kind of just afk at this even after the mountain project is done and get myself a whole bunch of Stone we can also build a better one another base if we ended up needing a lot of stone for a different project but I think it’s just kind of cool to have this around in the first place so I promised that today we will end up doing something a little bit different and Something a little bit warmer so we are going to leave at the snow biome for the slightly warmer confines of the nether and not least because my Elektra durability is down kind of low it’s not super low right now but I do need to pay a quick visit to the zombie pigman Farm and that is incidentally kind of close to where I want to be spending my time today where I’m not falling through holes in the landscape into hidden frozen lakes anyway before we go to the Pigman farm though I do want to circle back around and take a quick look at This project which was my attempt at basically fudging together a biome that looked sort of like the new nether biomes that were coming out in the nether update this was a little while after the announcement of those biomes at Minecon and I gotta say I think I did A reasonable sort of job but it is so cool seeing some of those new biomes come together in the nether update snapshots hopefully we’re gonna see one of those this week or next week and I will probably end up continuing to make videos about those if you guys are Interested in seeing them I’ll probably just cover the major features just doing an overview because ultimately that’s gonna be tutorial content that will arrive later in the survival guide once the nether update actually gets here but for now I’m glad you guys are liking at the sneak peeks we’re getting at the Snapshots and hopefully we will continue to get those as the weeks roll on and conveniently for me so I can trigger all of these zombie pigman around here to get aggro on me one of them seems to have spawned inside the farm itself I think because I broke a torch on that Block recently so come at me guys so to discover the full reason for today’s episode we are going to take a left here and we’re gonna head into the nether fortress at least I’m pretty sure this way leads to the nether fortress I really need to finish this nether hub One of these days but the idea here is that we’re going to be taking a revised look as something we haven’t been to for a little while this blaze farm because the blaze farm was a bit of a disaster in its most recent outing I have the Idea of moving these blazes out to the swamp biome where they could potentially be herded and damaged by water and while that was kind of fun it ultimately overcomplicated something that could have been a lot simpler so today I’m actually gonna start out by doing a quick time-lapse of taking down this Blaze farm in its entirety we’re gonna light up around the spawn us to make sure nothing spawns while we are working on this but today we’re gonna rip out the slime block flying machines we’re gonna rip out the nether portals we’re gonna get rid of all of this Overcomplicated stuff and we’re going to take an approach to redesigning this blaze farm which is Rim simple so without further ado let’s bring in the camera account and let’s get all of this taken down in the form of a time lapse You Okay so I’ve now managed to strip everything down so it is just the spawn as the glowstone that is keeping those areas lit and the glass case around it and I’m actually gonna leave the glass there for now probably make a couple of tweaks to it a little bit later and we Will need to be getting some more glass in fact probably quite a bit more glass if we’re going to pull off the method that we are gonna try today by the way all of this glowstone in here a lot of that is actually superfluous we can probably take out every other block here And have it still lit up about the same but remember that there is a nine point nine and three high area around this spawner in which blazes will potentially spawn so glowstone being a level like level fifteen source is perfect for making sure this area stays well lit and You will need more of it than you think blazes will actually spawn in light levels of eleven and below so you got to make sure it’s like level 12 and above and that’s actually kind of difficult to do especially if you’re using torches or something like that but with a decent Amount of glowstone because I’ve got tons of it now in my lighting box should be absolutely fine done exactly the same thing over here this sort of rib cage pattern just so that I didn’t have to worry about alternating blocks I could just bridge out with it basically and Thankfully the blazes didn’t give me a hard time after that so what we are going to be doing is a method that was originally showcased I believe by nem bond at least his is the video that I have seen some going to you a link that video in nem bonds channel in the Description this is a blaze farm that takes advantage of blazes pathfinding is the idea so basically what we’re going to be doing is carving out all of the nether AK within a very large area of these two spawner x’ basically so that the only solid blocks blazes could Potentially path fine to are going to be in a very specific location and then with a little hole in the corner of the glass platform that they’re all going to be landing on the blazes will actually go down that hole without you having to do a thing we don’t have any more of These slime block flying machines or other methods to corral them into a specific area to kill them they will literally walk into the trap of their own accord or you know float into the trap I guess because they’re blazes but still the idea is to take advantage of Mobs pathfinding an emblem goes into this in much more detail in his video sir if you’re at all interested in the technical side of how this works I strongly recommend checking that video out but the upshot of that is we’re gonna have to remove the netherrack around this and Any other blocks like the blocks of the nether fortress here in a ten-block area from the edges of this glass platform basically anywhere inside of here that ablaze could end up landing and presumably picking a new spot two paths find two from there we will need to remove any solid blocks within a Ten-block range horizontally and a seven block range vertically both upwards and downwards so that’s going to mean one two three four five six seven eight nine ten this block here is the last place that we would want to dig out from the edge of this platform if a blaze was Gonna be able to stand there but that’s underneath the glass wall we already had so I’m just gonna move this to better reflect the boundary of this box here so I’ll be able to place blocks from anywhere here outwards but anything closer to that is going to have to be Something that the blaze would not path fine twos some blocks like glass or leaves anything that is transparent slabs might potentially work as well it’s just got to be a non solid block something that the blazes wouldn’t pass fine to I believe named bonds said in his video that you can use stairs Instead of glass if you want something that appears solid but I think having glass in this is just gonna show all of the blazes running around inside of here floating around and making their way to the edge of the trap so that’s gonna be a lot more entertaining for us to watch I need to go and get some more glass but we’re gonna make that happen I think I have a lot of cobblestone and a little bit of spare stone from the mountain operation so I think what I’m going to do is outline the area in cobblestone and then try and dig out everything Inside of that area we are going to be leaving a large patch of it as solid blocks but that doesn’t necessarily have to be the nether ACK here and I think it might be better if it isn’t just so I can understand which blocks I’ve placed there manually and make sure that I’m Only clearing away stuff that has been generated by Minecraft itself and with that that is going to be the kind of target area where the blazes are going to try and pass fine to through the gap in the floor now I have checked already and my nether hub while it is very close By is outside of the ten block range that blazes from this spawner could expect to be pathfinding from so thankfully we don’t have to do too much to that in the event that it is really close to some thing that you have already built all You would really need to do is just move the spawner buleria around slightly so that blazes couldn’t spawn too close to the thing that you’ve already built if we’d already built something here five blocks away I would probably want to move whatever was here but of course my Nether hub is something I really don’t want to move because it’s so big I don’t feel like shifting this entire thing over by a couple of blocks so instead I would just shrink the spawner buleria inside of this to make sure that blazes never got within pathfinding distance of My nether hub ultimately you’re gonna have an easier time if you find to blaze spawner Zin a nether fortress that is out in the open above a lava lake and you’ll probably want to start from there when it comes to designing any sort of blaze farm anyway but with this farm Here with it being encased in netherrack I still think it’s kind of nice to not have to worry about ghasts because I can hear them out there trying to get at me but no if we if we build something like that inside of here it just means we Have to clear out a decent amount of space and we will hopefully do that largely undisturbed so for now I’m gonna spend a bit of time outlining this whole thing clearing out all the terrain and from there the building of this blaze farm should be a relatively simple process Okay so we are now at the state where I have cleared out seven blocks below seven blocks above and ten blocks all the way around squared off for this spawner over here so technically speaking we could get started with this spawner now however I still want to get The rest of this one done so it’s gonna take a little bit longer as you can see I’ve nearly warm through all three of my unbreaking three pick hexes and I’ve got myself a little bit of glass just so I can tidy up the rest of this the nether Rack is all sitting in these chests out here plus a few other blocks from the remainder of the nether fortress blocks that were here and taking down our little afk spot where we have the rest of the the previous farm set up and yeah I think this is all going according to Plan so far I might have to end up taking out more blocks of the ceiling though because while the blazes will come to rest on this level right here where I’ve got these platforms set up to just kind of show me where the floor level of the farmers and they should Eventually end up drifting down this hole in the corner here once we have everything else set up for this it is going to mean unfortunately for us but they could potentially target one of the blocks up there while they are still drifting down they might make pathfinding attempts when they have just Spawned in and hopefully once we’ve got the large area of blocks set up between these two spoilers they should hopefully choose one of those blocks to pass fine too but we might still have to take out a little bit more of the ceiling to make sure that they aren’t affected by those Blocks up there when they start drifting down but we are at the point now where I’m having to light up the floor down here and eventually I’ll probably slab this whole thing over or something like that because we were getting gusts spawning in here just because of how Large an area it was and how far away I can be from some of the larger flatter areas of this if I get 23 blocks away from it as you can see stuff starts to spawn down here so ideally we don’t want there to happen but for the most part it Should be too disruptive to everything more disruptive is the fact that with the skeletons and blazes keep spawning elsewhere in the fortress and occasionally coming to check on the progress of the farm but I just thought I would give you a quick update on the state of things before I go and repair My pickaxes at one more time because it’s going to like I didn’t do much of the digging myself when in fact I really did there’s a lot of durability once I’ve been to the zombie Pigman farm and or repaired these I think we’ll be able to dig out The rest of this and you can kind of see the outlines of where I plan to dig the rest of this out it shouldn’t really take all that much longer and then we can remove these blocks and replace them with something else and we can finally Get this farm built okay wow that was a lot of work but now we have an outline around this area of the perimeter where we can expect to place any kind of solid blocks and on the inside of here we need to make sure that we are not working With solid blocks except in the places where they matter which i think is going to be a solid area in here basically in between these two and the idea is not necessarily that they have two paths find on a diagonal to these solid blocks but instead that the one area they can Get out of here is going to presumably be what the AI thinks of as its path to those solid blocks and instead what it’s going to lead to is a chamber down below where we can capture them all in a single space and kill them hopefully countering the output of both of these Two spawns in a single location but if that turns out to be too complicated we can always just have one going to one area one going to the other area and call it good there I just need to do a little bit more dressing up over this Section over here make sure the glass gets filled in but I just wanted you guys to see this whole area once I’ve taken out the coal stone bridges and stuff because this was a lot of digging but I think it’s gonna be worth it and if you wanted why we’re converting these To blaze spawner x’ again instead of going out and finding another nether fortress that has to blaze spawn is in close proximity but slightly less digging involved keep in mind that this one is right next to my nether hub so if I want blaze powder there is no more Convenient location to come and get hold of this now this area here is now completely set up as well so we have a completely encased glass with the exception of this hole in the corner here and on this corner is actually where we’re going to be building up that Large cube of solid material that I told you about for that I think we are just going to use standard stone or cobblestone or something like that we basically need to create a solid block of it not a single gap in there and that is going to provide a lot of blocks that The blazes are going to be tricked to pathfinding towards now you can’t just place a single block out there and have that be the only solid block that they will try and pass fine to because they will only have a small chance of pathfinding to that block basically Creating a large area of material out here gives them more opportunities to try and path fine to a block within that giant cluster member on goes into the mathematics behind this and the actual calculations the mob AI is making a lot more in a lot more detail on his videos So once again thoroughly recommend to checking that out link is in the description but I have already set up a drop hole on this side here now we just need to build a large cube of material in here make a couple more quick preparations and we should very easily Be able to trick the blazes into coming through to this area so gonna come up into a roughly the range where we can expect the blazes to try and pass find into this area I think we might go a couple of blocks further down because remember they’ll also be searching Downwards in a radius of about seven blocks as well so I think it’s probably worth making sure we have some blocks a little bit lower let’s start our giant cube here and it’s gonna connect up to the walls over here although we are going to do a little bit more like I Said preparation of this area making sure that the blazes are going to find their way in here so while we are making this out of a giant area of solid material there is definitely going to be a little bit of other stuff involved here so aside from a couple of Unfortunate incursions by wither skeletons which has happened because I’ve opened the fortress up a little bit more on this side this is going pretty well as far as I can tell we have the result here a giant cube of solid stone all the way through and now we are Getting to the phase where we can actually trick the blazes into coming down here in the first place I will bring some scaffolding with me and let’s try and get up into that little cavity that I’ve created in the corner here yet there we go into the glass Section of the structure now and all we want to do is place a few trapdoors over here and then build out some stuff in the stone that’s going to trick the blazes into thinking they can continue to track out this way so we’re going to take out these glass blocks here on the Corner like so and we’re going to be placing trapdoors here here here and here basically four blocks high to prevent the blazes from getting stuck on any of the trapdoors we’re also gonna hop in here very quickly place a trapdoor there and a trapdoor on top of that if we can Which I don’t know if we can yet there we go we can get that in there as well just to make sure that they don’t get stuck on these trapdoors on this site then what we do is we take out the block underneath here and to spawn pre-fit We’re gonna place a magma block there and then we’re also going to spawn proof this one over here by placing a button inside this space named bond does both of those in his video and as far as I can tell that seems to be pretty effective mob spawn proofing we need to Make sure that this however this block here is also a stone block those two blocks there are basically there to make the blazes think that they can continue to travel forward and that will stop them from getting stuck on the edge of these blocks and instead will encourage Them to travel downwards because mobs are not very good at telling whether a trap door is open or closed they will probably try and paths find their way towards those solid blocks and that should lead to them coming down into this tube now we’re going to do exactly The same thing on the opposite side here and in order to make sure that the blazes don’t see us at when they come down here I’m going to set them on a slab have a trapdoor there so that hopefully they won’t be able to see me In here and I think I will separate these two out for now I think it’s gonna work out okay this way the next thing to do is really just to take away the glowstone and give this thing a test now this is something I’m gonna have to do Very very carefully because the blazes are just gonna start spawning around me I should probably yep I should probably have grabbed a fire resistance potion before I started to do this help of course while they are aggressive towards a player blazes will start to drift up Into the air to try and get that advantage over the player but hopefully if we leave the area and the blazes are no longer aggressive towards me then we don’t need to worry about that behavior taking effect while they’re inside the tube and they have long ago fixed the Problem whereby blazes would get angry at you even if they didn’t have any line-of-sight but you hit them so hopefully in this update we should have a nice effective blaze farm this way luckily only a couple have spawned while I’ve taken the glowstone away so I can Hopefully get rid of those and make my way down this scaffolding ladder take out this at the bottom and make sure that we get that slab back in place ready for the blazes to hopefully end up finding their way down here now all we have to do is stand kind Of close enough to the farm to see it in action sooner or later yep they should start pathfinding towards that stone block make their way down the trapdoor and as you can see they are just slowly making their way down into the machine having decided that these solid blocks Here are the ones they want to pass fine – they have made their way down into the trap it usually takes mobs a few seconds to choose a path finding location which is why those guys are having a little bit of a hard time that one there is Making a decision slowly but then in the meantime at that’s getting the blazes out of the way of the spawning area and it’s choosing a place for them to run – we can also like I said take away some of those blocks from the ceiling to make Sure this happens a little bit faster so they don’t get a path finding location chosen while they are drifting down from the spawner I think that will make this whole thing a lot more effective but look at this this is so magical just watching them all walk into that corner Trap door like nothing is wrong brilliant stuff and now all I have to do is sneak up to here just give them a couple of taps with a sword and they’re done I’m planning on setting up a mechanism here as well that witch will crush the blazes with some sort of Piston mechanism and there are a couple of very easy ways to do that but right now like I said they’re not getting angry at me from the fact that I’m hitting them meaning that they can just float down into that space and even entity cramming might start to take Effect at some point although I think occasionally they get a little bit stuck on each other’s hitboxes and the trap door up there even stops them floating back up into this area if they spot a different block and I think on occasion some of these corner blocks here might Just be inside their pathfinding range but once you’ve eliminated more of the blocks of the ceiling and made sure that this boundary is all cleaned up and stuff this is going to be a really really effective farm I think for the end of the episode let’s just clear out The glowstone in there as well and hopefully we’ll get to see this thing running out full capacity and this time around I’m breaking the glowstone a little bit more systematically so we leave areas like this light for as long as possible and I’ve got a fire resistance potion on me Just in case I should need that so hopefully we’ll be able to avoid too many blazing counters in this one but wow look how quickly that spawned in here let me just take care of him before he causes me any trouble and I think the Ones over in the other side of the farm seem to have stopped pathfinding quite as easily but I do wonder if maybe because they’re drifting upwards and downwards slightly when they spawn in for the first time they are still targeting some blocks in the roof of this structure which we will definitely Need to get rid of but yeah let’s hop down here before these blazes cause any more trouble for me hopefully we should just be able to tidy that up nicely and once we’ve taken care of this chap who’s come down here nice and easily we can Pop a slab in there and that these guys should all have calmed down right about now the last step for us here is really to find a decent spot to afk because of course we need to make sure both of these spawner x’ are spinning up at once I think around here is probably good that should hopefully mean that stuff is spawning on both of these if I can see both of the little models inside there spinning regardless of how fast they’re spinning it should mean that we’re able to activate both spawner x’ so that is Ideal really and yet you can see these guys are lining up slowly but surely to make their way down into this part of the mechanism occasionally they will bump into each other at the entrance there these ones however while they’re all facing the right direction they seem To want to part find I think something has messed them up a little bit there and I’m not sure what it is these things to occasionally resolve themselves if I log out and log back in though so let me quickly try that and see if that corrects their path finding sooner or Later they will just pick a random block to pass fine – yes there you go as you can see they just end up queuing up to go down the tube there and hopefully that should be that problem result occasionally you’ll spot stuff like that happening and it may just be that for Whatever reason we left the range that they send end up path finding too and they got confused in the middle of that particular path finding operation but now we are standing up here and they are queuing up to get inside of there possibly the fire there is a bit of a Problem but I don’t really know what to do about that except you know splash it with some water from above to put it out especially since new blazer are continually spawning from that spawner now and it seems like they are all making their way down into the System just fine of course the main thing here is making sure that they are outside of the area around the spawner so that they don’t take up that kind of spawner mobcap and that should allow that spoiler to freely create more blazes likewise this one over here maybe We need to bring the tubes down a little bit further but no it looks like we are getting a few more blazes spawning we might want to put a glass block above that spawner over there just to make sure that the blazes don’t come to rest On the top there and end up scanning for blocks above them that’s another consideration but once they do target a block they should fall off of that and drift downwards and they should then follow the same path finding as the rest of the blazes but judging by the amount We have in here it looks to me like this has been a pretty big success and then the next thing to do of course it is going to be to get item collection set up and maybe to find a way to bring the two of these together but I think for Today that is all I’ve got time for it’s taken so long to get all of this nether AK mined out and I’m really happy that we were able to showcase this farm in action once again a big thanks to member on it for the excellent tutorial on this Farm I hope you guys enjoyed my version of it and don’t forget to click like and subscribe if you want to see more thanks so much for watching The Minecraft Survival Guide continues! Today – with some help from a video by the incredible Gnembon – we construct a simple but highly effective blaze farm that relies on mob pathfinding mechanics to trick the blazes into the trap. No slime block flying machines required – just some basic materials and a whole lot of digging!
