This computer here was built probably a couple weeks ago now for my youngest daughter this is her first computer but what we actually want to know is can it play the games that it was built For before we get going with the games that we’re going to be playing on this we’re trying to play anyway this is the i56500 this is a socket 1151 motherboard and obviously CPU and it’s got a GTX 1060 6 gig from gigabyte in there with some generic crucial 2133 MHz Ram I think it is and we’ve got the antech cooler on there now if you missed that build then go and watch the previous video or the very last video for from 2023 and you can see this whole system be built with me and my daughter It’s quite a fun video to do actually so go check that one out at the end of this video some of the games we are going to be playing today are Age of Empires 6 anniversary edition yeah we’re going to be trying that Forza Motorsport because it’s Forza and she likes racing Disneyland Adventures not really my type of game but it’s a game that she will probably be playing on this computer and it’s basically Disneyland in not VR but the entire park has been generated in this game when you can go and do quests in the game we’ll be checking in Minecraft Legends as well and another Disney game we’ll be doing Disney’s Dreamlight Valley again I have no idea what that game is about it’s not one for me personally but it’s something that she will be playing on this system so we’ll see if this computer can play that And of course we’re going to Chuck in f-1222 as well we couldn’t finish the video without showing you some fortnite but but not just fortnite it’s Lego fortnite I have no idea what to expect with that one I’ve never played it so that will be interesting to see how that copes Okie Doie so first up we’re going to try Age of Empires I think the last time I played this was probably 15 years ago maybe I don’t know it’s been a while since I’ve even loaded up Age of Empires game so I don’t know what it looks like I I can’t remember the controls but we’re going to see how the computer copes with it cuz it’s not about me remember it’s about how the computer to copes with it and hopefully we can show those stats up on the screen as well before we start as always we go through The settings that we’re using for this game just so you can compare them if you earn this game as well it is on Xbox game pass so if you want to install this game and you’re paying for Xbox game pass then obviously you can just go and Download it and play it so we’ve got the image quality set to high under the graphics menu there so that is basically everything is defaulted to whatever the high preset is if we change that we can see it changes everything underneath that as well so we’re going to go high To start with and you can see animation basically everything is either medium or high you can go through the video and check these settings again physics is low and pretty much everything else is as default so we’re going to start the Battle of Hastings Mission I have no clue about this Whatsoever all right so on the battlefield we can see that there are quite a lot of uh entities and that looks like the enemy team I don’t think I can select those or can I no I can’t do anything with those so let’s move some of these guys forward see what Happens yeah so I’m blue oh they’re attacking oh okay first Char direct ass okay so these guys can hang back and do their thing as you can see on the screen there the GTX 1066 K is using 88% 88% usage there and the GPU and the CPU Is 67 so we still got a bit of head room there and don’t forget we’re set on high at the moment retreat no no we’re not retreating oh we are we have to retreat anyway as you can see there also the frame rate is capped it seems to be Capped at 60 not sure if that’s a game limitation we don’t have vsync on or anything like that so there’s no reason why that should be capped so we’ll see what it’s like in another game in a moment but there’s a lot going on right now we’re kind of they’re kind of just Doing their own thing right now oh they’re coming oh no no no no no to push back the Invaders [Applause] archers yes of course let’s get let’s get all the archers to fight these guys here oh No let’s go and take the ones at the Back sneak attack well not really sneak attack but go straight for the ones to the back that’s what I want to doy in disr neutral I think I’m in disarray Willam and victory [Applause] Wasing yeah we lost well I sucked at that mission but as you can see on the screen the stats Of the graphics card it was coping just fine absolutely fine with all those entities on the screen and the FPS didn’t really drop that far below 60 FPS actually so which for the kind of monitor that you would be playing this computer on which is a 60 HZ monitor but Obviously we can turn off feeding and make it go higher than that uh it was fine silk silky smooth with all the entities on the screen set as high all right so moving on to fortnite now while we’re waiting for some other games to just finalize their installs fortnite Lego mode not played it before so let’s see what the settings are we’ve left them at default I’m not entirely sure what default actually is but it has optimized the settings for this particular system so it’ll be interesting to see what it’s done okay so obviously 1920 x 1080 because that is The resolution of the screen that you can see vsync is off so that we get the maximum frames that we can get it’s locked the frame rate at 60 now I can understand why it would do that but we’re going to unlock that just to see what the maximum frame frame rates that We can actually get on this system let’s see if I can go down that way yes I can it’s using direct X11 mode we’re going to keep it on that one for now just to see how it performs we might switch that over later on motion blur I’m I’m really Glad to see a game that doesn’t automatically turn motion blur on auto set quality so it set it to high uh TSR is low TS Temple super resolution is recommended set to recommended don’t know entirely what that means I think there’s some sort of upscaling there by Look of it it looks like it’s kind of upscaling yeah so we’re going to leave that as it is and we can see a little bit tearing we’ve got on screen but that’s because we’ve got vsync off I don’t know if that translates very well to the recording And as you can see there the FPS is off because we already have our own FPS display on the screen we’re going to turn on invid low latency to on we’re that’s the only thing we’re going to change I think going to leave everything to default so Um how do I start the game okay so in Lego fortnite uh we’ve been chased by a spider so I’ve kind of run two spiders but a look of bit so I’ve run on top of this rock but uh I have noticed one thing on the settings that it’s provided I’m getting terrible Stutters every now and then when I go into a different area but look at it although it seems fine here we’re getting over 60 FPS but FPS isn’t everything don’t actually oh what the hell was that is there a spider in there oh God yeah oh run run like you’ve never run Before oh God it’s still chasing still chasing I can’t run anymore I need to catch to these rocks oh God he’s still coming there’s a chicken run chicken he’s going to get you anyway we can on these rocks and hopefully he can’t get us is he giving up Now okay so once again we’re on top of some rocks but I was getting stuttering around by those trees we’ll try and go back over there in a minute but as as I was running around to start with I was getting really really bad stuttering apparently I’m hungry as well so we need To eat how do I eat I guess we don’t eat we just die all right so back in the woods again where I first started and let’s see if we can see these stutterings yeah there we go look as I’m just walking around oh there’s some cows over there we can eat them Maybe as you can see from the MSI after bur a stats there we are pegged out 100% on the GPU in this game and 80 something 82 % around 80 between 80 and 90 there on our CPU but I’m not getting the stuttering I was getting so um although it looks Really really nice as nice as it can look at 1080p oh let’s eat some food can I eat the pumpkin I don’t know where I’m supposed to go here let’s just go this direction okay so we are definitely getting a few few stutters not that often to be honest with you it’s coping Quite well probably doesn’t look as good as it can do so I oh that spider all I seem to be doing right now is just running away from spiders and wolves with absolutely no purpose and collecting things we are still getting stuttering so I think what I’m going to do is lower The settings a little bit maybe turn TSR off see if that makes any difference oh that’s the wrong one I’m just let it run without any upscaling at all all right so now it’s daylight we can actually see something and not really noticing much difference in the the Quality of the actual I mean we’ve got trees kind of glitching in the back there oh I don’t know what happened there so what we’re going to do we’re going to go in and change it to the highest setting we can possibly change because the glitching seems to have gone Now so we’re going to do epic and we’re going to turn also going to turn on uh we’re also going to turn on TSR epic as well and we’re going to turn on quality Temple super resolution see if that makes any difference oh okay so the glitching on the trees in The background is definitely gone now and we’ve only dropped what 4 FPS I think in overall overall I think yeah about four let’s put our average FPS up so that’s the second FPS counter there that’s our average so as we move around and collect various things let’s collect that as well and Maybe we can actually build something CU after all this is Lego I’ve been told it’s very very similar to Minecraft uh so it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out hopefully can we build a campfire yet yay we can build a campfire okay so let’s build a Campfire there we go campfire okay so before we move on to the next game I just want to have a quick go at rocket racing apparently it’s a different game mode in fortnite he would have thought it’s now a racing game as well but we’re Going to give this a go and see see what it’s like here we go oh okay this is supposed to be a drifting one so let’s drift or not holy smokes well that was insane uh let’s move on to the next game okay as promised we’re moving on to Disneyland Adventures not My type of game but we’re going to see how this computer performs as this is the kind of game that will be played on this system so we kind of need to see how that’s going to work don’t we this was built in 2017 by the same people that have built Microsoft flight Simulator 2020 can you believe that or not a Soo a Soo Built This Game Crazy we’re going to be Mickey Mouse of course and new game I have no idea about about the settings but we we’ll have a look at those in a moment let’s just get into The game for some reason the resolution is really low so you can see the stats are very very large on the screen we’ll see if we can fix that in a moment okay so going into options that’s changed the resolution because yeah as I thought it’s really really low 8X 600 so let’s Whack that up to what’s the maximum hopefully the same as the monitor which in this case is 1920 by 1080 let’s see what details we’re on high okay so there’s very very basic detail settings in this game we’re on the maximum okay so as you can see we’ve Restarted the stats on the screen are showing as they should be now and we’re at 1920 by 1080 locked at 60 FPS it seems you can definitely tell it’s using more of the GPU now 79 between 79 and 80 something per there and CPU is also Quite high at this moment in time as well at this resolution there is a lot of people this park this is crazy so apparently this is a faithful Recreation or at least part Recreation of Disneyland and you can walk around it as your chosen character so just looking Around we seem to be locked at 60 at the moment why can’t I move oh I can’t I can’t why does it keep Stopping okay the controls are a little bit funky you move forward and it just moves a little bit and then stops you have to hold down shift and run if you wanted to stay running in that direction so I think I’m going the wrong way pretty Cool now I can’t tell there there’s no settings for changing graphic settings as we just said because there is no FPS there’s no kind of FPS unlocker uh there’s no option for vsync that I could see so we seem to be locked a 60 FPS here and obviously that there’s no Point Doing the average if it’s locked at 60 FPS so because it will still show 60 FPS but at the moment it’s not dipped once and can I zoom in and out like do first person view can I do first person view is that an option no no you can’t do first person View can we go on the merry go around can I go on that how do I get to that can I go on any rides at all do I have to get a ticket or something oh do I have to queue up no apparently you just stand at the Entrance um so I can’t actually move physically I can’t move my head on the ride or I can do is uh get very dizzy how do I get off how do I get off the ride I want to get off the ride do you want to ride again no I love The fact that you can just move everyone out the way it doesn’t matter what they’re doing they just move out the way for you aha here we here we go no that is not the way to the roller coaster solid FPS still super to see so If someone wants to play this game you can pretty much oh it’s roller coaster yes there is a roller coaster I can see the track there how do we get to that that’s the roller coaster there’s the queue oh I physically have to like what on Earth is This wait what what am I doing holy Jesus oh okay right I have to collect coins right okay wooo really I don’t get this game that was close that was very very close uh so you can’t move the camera around at all and it’s going extremely slow up This I can’t seem to increase my speed or do anything oh now it tells me to okay now we’re moving I like to see oh jeez I’ve kind of given up collecting coins at this moment in time you best pull your arm oh awesome Go what can I say it was fun so there we go that is Disneyland Adventures a solid 60 FPS in some missions and around the entire part with all these different characters going on I think it runs it pretty well okay so moving on to F1 2022 now and we are Going to be racing around Silverstone racetrack of course and we’ll see how this performs at the moment again it’s locked at 60 FPS so we’re going to double check to make sure that vsync isn’t on okay before we race double check in the settings we can see that Frame rate limit is off and refresh rate is set to Auto vsync is also off and the vsync interval is set to Auto it doesn’t matter cuz vsync is off anyway 1920 x 1080 cuz that is the maximum we can do and we’re using TAA and Fidelity effects Sharpening set to 50 okay let’s confirm those changes we have also set the graphic settings to ultra ultra high and we’ll see how that performs on Ultra now of course you want the best frame rate you can in these type of games so you might need to lower those settings a Little bit but we’re going to see how it performs anyway at these settings now normally I play with a steering wheel not over keyboard and mouse So uh apparently I’m being I can’t how do I steer I need to change the controls okay take two we’ve actually changed the controls now so I can actually race but it’s looking quite good on at 1080p Ultra uh we’re getting a bit of glitching going on there so we might Need to tweak some of the settings frame rate is not so good we’re down to what 39 we saw there but it’s looking really really sharp I must say maybe a bit too much for this system this game is not designed for keyboard and mouse that is for Sure Oh I seem to be changing the brake bias as well as I’m going along I should just set the controls to the arrow keys I can see it’s changing the differential and the front brake bias as I’m racing that is really not good well that was coping pretty well oh I’m not coping very well but it’s coping very well with all these cars on Track full grid just under 60 FPS there not doing too bad honestly okay so let’s just stop there a moment and change the settings down a little bit I think we can uh make that a little bit Better although 60 is nothing to be sneered at it’s actually quite good so we’re going to drop that down to high and continue okay we gained roughly about 10 FPS I reckon or thereabouts although my driving hasn’t gained anything but it’s definitely feeling a lot smoother yeah we’re on the high high 60s now and uh low 7s there on the instant FPS let’s bring bring up the average FPS display that’s the FPS display on the right hand side so that’s our Average okay so that’s that’s pretty much a full complete lap done with the average FPS showing that and we’ve got an average FPS of 68 so far we just gone up to 69 there pretty impressive for a 1060 although it is at 1080p that’s still very very impressive Now if you’re looking for those super smooth FPS settings then you’re going to have to drop the settings to whatever you want to cope with the FPS that you want so we dropped it down to medium now and you can already see we’ve gained we’re gaining about 10 15 FPS for every Setting default setting that we go down in this particular Game for 85 nearly 90 now so our average will go up as you can see there it’s now 71 still not very good with a keyboard and mouse nearly reaching 100 there as we went around that corner so there we go our average FPS up to about 88 it’s Probably still climbing now actually I think we reached 100 FPS on our instant FPS on the left hand side there pretty impressive for a 1066 gig and an i56500 full core CPU okay so we can’t actually try for a motorport because it says unsorted CPU detected so we’re going to Have to skip this game and move on to Minecraft Legends okay so the graphic settings in this game aren’t that extensive as you can see on the screen now we’ve got resolution level of detail which is set too high actually and vsync full screen brightness contrast field of view that’s Basically it so we’re going to turn off the vsync and you can see this the FPS rocket up in the menus I’m sure it’s not going to be like that in the actual game all right in the game it did take quite a while to load probably verging On 5 minutes to load into this level this campaign that we’re already in uh but as you can see there 95 reset the average FPS there uh our instant FPS is over 100 or just near 100 I’ve got these little fellows following me I don’t know what they’re doing know what’s going On hello we’ve got will Will’s in the game hello will there we go that that is that is Will you’ve seen him in videos before he’s uh just joining to just to help me out and we’re going to go and uh fight some things as you can see really Really high frame rates and really really smooth completely playable on the system as it currently is without upgrading anything so F but there are more piglins out there there’s no time to waste yeah if you if you want to play this game then you know it’s going to Run really really well with a similar kind of setup to this very very impressive actually oh they’re building some sort of gun or Tower or something let’s uh get that before something bad happens one more push and the portal will fall that portal is almost down keep fighting done it we’ve done It I don’t quite know what I’ve done but we’ve done it oh that sucks it looks like the game’s actually crashed right as we completed whatever it was we were doing I’m not entirely sure what we were doing but it’s running really really well as you can see well over 100 FPS there Completely playable on a system of this specification really really good okay so here we are in Disney Dreamlight Valley again this is not my type of game but this is the type of game that will be played on a system like this or this specific system in fact so I have no Idea I know this is some kind of MMO RPG or something like that it is an online game as well so there is that element to it but the main story is is offline um as far as I’m aware you have to do quests and missions and it’s all To do with Disney apparently okay so we mouse and keyboard move around and look and things um it’s all very dark and dismal I think what we have to do in this particular game is restore Dreamlight Valley to its former self and as you can see it’s all purple and Very dull and dismal and we have to make it a lot better so we’re not going to spend the entire video doing that of course we’re just going to have a look around but first let’s see if there are any settings for graphics at all yes there are there’s quite a few actually So at the moment we are at 1920 x 1080 of course and we are 60 HZ preset it’s set to PC High I did not set that so we’re going to increase that just to see what kind of FPS we get at the moment It’s a solid 60 FPS so we know that we can probably turn bsync off and that will go up as you’ve just seen there it went up to about 118 well exactly 118 and that is quite good so we’re going to put everything up as high it will go Because I think there’s a bit of leeway there we can we can we can crank everything up basically in this type of game so let’s go out of that okay there we go now let Dro back down still good FPS I don’t know what I’m supposed to be doing is there a map Yes there is a map so uh let’s first of all go and find the duck I just click on it like that yeah there we go okay cool pretty self-explanatory oh I can’t go and see the duck there’s this stuff in the way and I can’t I can’t jump over It I can’t get to it so what do I do I can’t go up there so I have to unlock these different areas so basically I’m stuck any way I can go is this way it seems so I’m very limited to where I can actually walk which isn’t anyway so it Looks like I do need to talk to Merlin cuz one he’s following me around like a creepy dude so let’s talk to him okay so it looks like he’s telling me where to go so let’s do that oh I can’t go that way I think that’s where I set it uh Let’s talk to oh I can’t go anywhere can I what am I I’m guessing that’s some sort of teleport okay um yeah I definitely can’t get through there so we need to figure out what to do I think the game’s Frozen Okay so without delving into this game too deep Because it’s as I said it’s is not really my type of game at least just walking around this starting area here we’re getting a solid 60 FPS and that is with vsync off you can see the tearing on the screen not sure whether that shows on the recording as I said earlier But they definitely tearing on the screen with this particular monitor but it’s super smooth at 60 FPS which is exactly what you want for a game like this plays Perfectly well I think you can agree that even a mediocre system such as this with the i56500 and the GTX 1060 6 gig it can still play games at 1080p pretty pretty well actually very well in fact in some of the games that we’ve shown you today and these are most Of the games that are going to be played on this specific system that my daughter will actually play and yes racing games as well CU you know females can race as well so that is quite awesome to see it cope with that the only thing we do need To invest in is a much better monitor it also goes to show you that you don’t need top ends as we’ve said many times in many previous videos to this one that you don’t need topend stuff to have fun gaming and after all that is what it is All about it’s having fun playing something that you enjoy playing and you don’t need to spend a lot of money on it although I admittedly we did get given these parts but they’re not Mega expensive I’ll put prices in the video description down below you can see where you can pick up some Graphics cards and motherboards and CPUs similar to this for not too much money but it doesn’t take a lot to just look around for a similar spec or maybe even a better CPU or something like that if you’re building a similar system doesn’t have to cost you a lot of money I expect This one probably cost a few hundred quid overall with the components that are in it including the brand new fan that we put in there as well if you watch the previous video you’ll know what I’m talking about and the case is a real cheap case you can still buy this Case actually but uh in black and you’ve got a computer that can run pretty much most things that a young child will want to run on it admittedly we didn’t run Roblox on it this time but we already know it runs Roblox pretty much runs on Most things but as it stands this system will run everything that we’ve chucked at it with regards to what she is going to be using it for if you want to see more great videos like this one showing will the system Run games specific games your chosen games even then uh get Subscribed and like this video and share and all that good stuff because it does help more than you ever realize and if you want to see specifically the 1060 pitted up against the most recent games then get subscribed because that’s coming real soon Video Information

______________________________________________________________ My thoughts on this video
Unfortunately after extensive searching, i could not find any great deals on older hardware in this video, so instead of giving you rubbish deals linking to strange sellers, I would suggest looking on 3rd party websites yourself if you feel like building a budget system like this.
It is unfortunately not a buyers market for older PC components right now, people either want way to much, or don’t know the real value of the component, I speculate that it’s probably in part due to the cost of living crisis, either way it’s very bad for the 2nd hand market.
Should you build one? – the platform is essentially dead, but if you can get a good deal on a bundle or know someone selling a skylake or socket 1151 system for cheap, and you already have or have managed to source a low cost GPU similar to the 1060 in this video, you have yourself potentially a very cheap system capable of playing loads of games for very little cost.
remember the main thing here is to have fun while gaming.
