Unbelievable! Travel at the Speed of Light | Minecraft Guide

Hi everybody the name is Markiplier and welcome back to the Minecraft guide in this episode we’re going to dive into the coldest block all around and actually use it to revolutionize the transport system all across our globe ni but now that I said it it sounds a

Little bit weird it’s probably less of a globe and more like a cube shaped object floating through time space continuum that’s like a nitpick in the backs here doesn’t matter welcome back so if you recall right at the end of the last episode we built this small AFK platform

Way high up in the air above this beautiful looking beauty that we built in the last episode I promise sincerely to you from the bottom of my heart that I would AFK at this place in between episodes I kind of messed up a little bit I didn’t really think to like keep

Track of specifically how long I was afking but oh boy I afked so I have yet to check out the profits that I have reaped from this Farm I don’t know exactly what to expect that’s a lot of noise I got to fix that but

Not only two stacks of glow a little bit more but a perfect lineup too so much Redstone gunpowder sugar this noisy ugly little beautiful contraption that we call the witch Farm oh my gosh I do not regret building that thing ever and we’ll be back to it we’ll be back to

Those baby soon and actually very very quickly too so let’s talk what have I told you that ice is one of the most interesting and potentially useful blocks in all of Minecraft for example for starters check this out a simple water current setup let’s say I want to

Move items inside of it I drop an item and it moves but it doesn’t really like reach the end or nothing like that if I go ahead and set up the same thing except line ice on the bottom of it drop an item inside of

It it Rockets it slides so ice has this really really interesting property where if we jump on this and walk around you can check it out we kind of Glide and drift around a little bit if I start running the gliding the sliding it basically is going to start to kind of

Like increase my speed a little bit if I wanted to really increase my movement speed though we could do a little hack here we could say make a hallway that is two blocks tall perfect for me put ice at the bottom Run and Jump inside of it

And I mean that’s a really short spot but you can see right there I’m moving like pretty quickly way quicker than I ever would normally it’s great for transportation ice is wonderful for Transportation uh that is until you get a little bit of light sources around ice

You see the plain old classic black of ice the see- through transparent one if you put light near it it gets way too warm it actually melts and that’s a big problem but there’s a really really easy way around it and actually this way around it gets even more slippery and

That’s actually going to happen every single time we make a new type of ice packed ice packed ice is basically like the older brother the upgraded sibling of a normal ice right there that’s the classic one we put light near it and it melts this is the newer one we go ahead

And put light near this thing and it doesn’t matter at all packed ice is so packed in that it’s always going to exist well that is it’s always going to exist until you break it by hand if you break any type of ice without silk touch

It breaks and it either turns back into water or it just dissipates into the dimensional void it’s gone in quick trial number one we had plain old ice on the floor right here and then the ceiling as the ceiling if I go ahead and Swap this with packed ice flip back into

Survival Minecraft and do the same thing actually go a little bit quicker packed ice is a little bit more slippery and blue blue ice is a little bit more slippery than that but look I want to be honest with you by the time we get from packed ice to Blue Ice the difference

Here it is negligible it’s a small difference it is an improvement for sure but is it worth it condensing nine pack ice into one single block right there ah debatable it’s going to have the same properties as pack ice where it like doesn’t melt or anything like that and

You can’t see through it it’s got this clean deep blue texture though too I love it as you might have guessed if we slide and slip around in ice and items slip and slide around an ice that also is going to translate to entities as

Well I go ahead and push mobs around an ice and check this out if this mob has nothing else to do it will just like slide around in the ice and it kind of moves funny too entities come in the form of many different things in

Minecraft you could have say an item on the ground that’s kind of an entity you could have say a mob walking around on the ground that’s also an entity I myself am an entity and also boats are an entity as well long story short ice

Is going to change the move M of all entities in the game if I put a boat on ice as you probably know in love all right sorry about that sorry about that if I put a boat on Ice I SAR especially compared to this normal Dreadful movement speed on land it’s

Pretty beautiful F3 and B on Minecraft Java Edition will show hitboxes including my own if I go ahead and break out some of the blue ice in here kind of creating this pattern then I jump on top of the blue ice and try and do the run

Jump thing check this out it actually kind of works it’s it’s not like perfect sometimes you do slip but you can definitely move across the ice if you time it right the boat’s hit box is very big and that makes this very very cool it will take zero skill at all to jump

Into this boat stealing here or not it doesn’t matter at this point where I put that the hitbox is so big that I am never going to slip down into any of these cracks and that’s wonderful when planning on setting up any kind of ice Transport Systems that’s weird what messing with

Ice inside of your world step number one is get your hands on some kind of silk touch tool so you can actually pick up the ice that you want a pickaxe is great after you’ve got a tool to be able to harvest and collect all of your ice with

You’re going to need to get your hands on a little bit of ice there are two big beautiful biomes where you can find ice really easily either up high in the mountains or down low or down surface level I don’t know how to put it look

Here you’re either going to want to head all the way over to the highest mountains inside of your world and hopefully there’s some ice capped beaks on top of those or you’re going to want to move all the way over to the nearest frozen gold ocean hey by the way uh good

Old fror fror how are you doing over here yeah you’re doing good all right good I don’t want to hear any more from you today leave me alone baby Ice Ice Ice Baby we seem to be living right next to a whole smack

Ton of ice I I got to be a little bit more strategic about this one though because they we’re going to Def face and defile these mountains for all eternity if I’m going to go ahead and head over to these ice mountains and harvest the ice for my biggest dream project today I

Need to be strategic I’ve got to find ice that I’m not going to see so going forward inside of this world I don’t know what I’m going to end up doing with the base right now it kind of ends at the ridge over there but this is a

Really nice Bowl formation I like it with a tall mountain tall mountain at some point I do think I would like to move over here and build like small villager settlements small settlement in general small anything you know something there oh we got to be careful there’s powder snow all over the place

Over here but I’m willing to bet that I could dig into this ice right here dig a couple more blocks into the ice and ba it’s not just on the surface no don’t do that to me no I was going to say I could dig it out like make a room Hollow it

Out no all right and over here the land that I’ve never seen before have not once touched with any eyes or for or block there’s no more ice there’s not like an island or a mountain that I can go over there and chop it out from we’re going to have to make this

Work ice you harvest it with a silk touch pickaxe a little bit of efficiency and it’s instantaneous my friend it’s I can see the Caves one quick little burst of mining later and I’ve got an inventory fully logged up clogged up with so much ice also a little bit of classic ice which is going to do no good for us today because of where we’re going to set up our ice transport Road AKA inside of the

Nether and because I don’t want to have to worry about light and not even think about it ever using plain old non-packed ice is a terrible idea use at least packed ice maybe even blue ice Frozen no not I I knew it was here I

Knew it was here no I I knew it was here and I never slipped and fell into the frozen snow as if this was an episode of The Shining no it’s not that no didn’t happen I knew it was here the whole time didn’t jump straight into it now so I’m

Pretty sure I’m no clown and definitely you guys are not either you probably have heard of nether ice road before they’re beautiful and one of the best ways to travel all around Minecraft in an earlier episode where we were talking about portal linking I talked all about

How the nether is basically 1/8 of the Overworld in the Overworld I move eight full blocks right there in the nether that would have been one block that means we could say move I don’t know 800 blocks in the span of one 100 blocks over inside of the nether it’s very

Efficient to level it up even more we can go ahead and combine that Bo stuff we were talking about in the intro segment of the video and this is literally the best transport system that you could build in the entire game check this all right so over here inside of

The nether a quick question we’re pretty close to the ceiling aren’t we yeah yeah yeah we’re really close so this is where I got to make some decisions based off of aesthetic reasons later on I’m going to set up a nether Hub and I want to

Make it feel nice big and Grand but I also want to make my life a relatively easy to like not over dig or over execute engineer this project maybe what I think I do is I take two blocks down and I’ll place ice road down there going

All the way that way over to the desert and all the way over this way to the spawn and the brand new witch Farm 2 you’re no beginner I know you you probably made NE ice road before but just in case you haven’t step number one

Is move into into The Nether and be very very cautious we’re going to find a lot of fire today great news this ice is immune to fire so it won’t melt it or nothing like that for this process that we’re going to work on today it might

Help to first set up two separate portals and link them up with some kind of hallway so you can kind of like figure out how you want to set your ice Road up I also always like to build my ice roads all the way up at the top of

The nether but you totally don’t have to by building my ice road all the way up here at the highest spot inside of the nether I am never going to have to worry about anything like lava bridging over big giant open spots or nothing like that for even more on the beauties of

Nether Hub at the top of the nether I I guess now that I think about it we haven’t talked about nether hubs at the top of the nether check out the linking episode The Boat F3 and B it’ll show the hit box it’s a big hit box if I wanted to go

Ahead and say make an ice Road for myself inside of the nether I can make it one block wide something like that that would be fine if I want to get the boat involved though as you can see right here that’s not going to work it doesn’t fit right there here’s another

Catch though if I open it up just like that and I put the the boat on it it catches this block and slows down a little bit to get around that Hill it’s easy we didn’t this raw blocks out jump back in the boat spin around 360 and

Check this out it works and so that right there my friends this is the basic setup that you need to know we’ll talk about spicing it up a little bit later on but for now all that I need to do is take this hallway out from where I am

Right now all the way back over to spawn portal I’m going to make it nice and Tall because the ceiling’s already up there and then I’m just face ice out every other block let’s go What in the actual world was that sound that terrified me I swear I’ve never heard that sound before that my heart it laughs to beat um that is terrifying can we not make that sound again please thank you so much and dearly I appreciate you And so here we are just a tiny bit of time later in beautiful ice Road number one connecting current main Bays of the cherry blossom biome all the way back back up to spawn it’s in and look at this thing these things are so beautifully efficient to use you combine

The nether fast travel with the boat Ice Road thing and I mean this thing is like Flawless you just Glide so quickly from Base to Base just like that I think I traveled like I don’t know maybe like a th000 blocks or something like that it

Was a lot now over the course of this hallway I did hit a couple things that were like open to like the rest of the Nether and I wanted to leave those things open I like the idea of being able to come back over and like check

Stuff stuff out so I kind of left to like that little problem right here though this one smashes straight into the portal and I don’t like that so what I think I’m going to go ahead and do here is we tear the portal down slowly surely painfully and flip it out of the

Way you see my first big Pro tip other than the basics of building these ice roads is if you’re setting up an ice road that has multiple stops along it try and make it one continuous long ice rope you see in the future I can see it

Clearly now I’m over at the cherry blossom base and I need to go farm a little bit of glowstone in order to get from the cherry blossom base over to the glowstone Titan itself I would use the boat road if I had to use the boat Road

And jump out and break the boat move the boat over because I hit spawn portal I mean it’s just annoying right like nobody wants that and so that brings us to the plan for now it’s pretty simple what I’m going to go ahead and do is move this

Portal off to the side it used to sit right there I flip it over there of course I go ahead and fill in all of the portal sides the corners and everything with re true genuine obsidian we go ahead and light the portal slide into

The portal to make sure it’s linked up 3 2 1 Bingo we’re oh we’re not Linked UP where in the world am I even where did it send me to oh I’m so far off what the all righty then I guess my portal measurements were not as exact

As I once formerly believed uh if I deactivate that portal deactivate that portal cut through spawn oh it’s beautiful it’s nostalgic it’s wonderful and go over to the sword well then you see and over at the sword hopefully I’m sent all the way back down to where it started

From all right so that’s a problem hm well the only thing that I could think of is if that portal is the correct a Linked UP portal and this one up here is not the correct Linked UP portal it’s is just in the wrong spot or whatever well

All that I could do once I’m up here is try and line it up a little bit better so the portal it’s like down there and it’s off to the side a little bit I think what I could do is maybe push this Hub room out a little bit further this

Way or something and try again that’s all that I really can Do I was thinking maybe I’ve never had this problem before actually but I I counted 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8ish blocks off was where the portal was if I move the portal down here and I don’t know I’ll fix the room later but

Move it down here should be a little bit closer the y coordinate doesn’t matter H so let’s see this time around using real authentic raw certified obsidian all the way maybe that was the problem I don’t know slide through the portal and it works I was just a little bit off

All right so when I go back through the portal I’m sent down to the bottom that’s no big deal I should be able to go ahead and disable this portal break break a couple blocks climb all the way back up to the brand new portal that’s located a little bit more accurately

Slide into it again ahuh still worse checked out okay that’s beautiful I’m never going to have a problem with that I should be able to slide back into this now though with the other portal broken and yes yes I’m up top no it’s perfect amazing so next up it’s time to go ahead

And finish off this ice Road over to the witch farm and from this spot right here it’s really not that far at all my second biggest tip while working on these ice roads here today is work in section when I work on these ice roads what I

Like to try and do is dig out a little bit of it turn around run back in and catch the ice up a little bit now every once in a while you know how it goes the inventory fills up and because I’m a Relentless hoarder needing every single block that I’ve mined in

This world for a a reason we’ll say a very important reason I rock it all the way back over to the starter base check out this chest I moved all the nether away over to here long story short today for reasons I’m going to going to go

Ahead and try and save every single piece of Netherrack that I harvest after all I can throw it in a furnace and I don’t know smelt it up to Nether Bricks or something later on maybe super smelter with a crafter in 1.21 I have no clue I don’t know I’m not a fortune Teller one more time Jump later and here we are Lads lades we made it all the way over to the great beautiful witch Farm now because this is the end of the stop today I don’t really have to do anything to the portal but 100% we’ll come back

In later on and make it better the next major buff that you need to make to your nether ice roads is light level so right now I don’t know if I’m in the Soul Sand Valley no not anymore but over there 100% I was through the Soul Sand Valley

Biome if I were to leave this tunnel nice and dark like it is right now unfortunately mobs would be able to spawn inside of this thing you got two options light which is the easy one or slab the entire hallway over and maybe put like buttons or something on top of

The ice if you want to go through all the extra work maybe the beautification put slabs everywhere lower block slabs and it’ll be fine a lower block slab is way lower than this boat’s hit box right there so it won’t affect the speed or anything like that the cheap way to

Spawn proof your hallway is place a torch right there go a couple more blocks and place another torch if we can get this hallways light level all the way up to more than 11 everywhere no nether mobs will ever be able to spawn inside of the hallway however this is

The thing if you’re inside of the Soul Sand Valley biome the light level might actually only need to be a little bit less if I was inside of the Soul Sand Valley biome which I will be in a minute then actually skeletons will spawn at a

Light level of seven or less so you don’t need to make it as bright the bright mob spawning that will happen inside of the Nether and unfortunately maybe the most annoying mob spawning as well is going to be the zombified piglin zombified biglins can spawn up to a

Light level 11 inside of the correct bios that’s going to mean you’re going to need a whole lot of torches to light this thing up or maybe like Jackal Landers or something on the floor if you got that now for me today my nether hallway I don’t really care about it

Being 100% perfect if I space these torches out by three or so blocks consistently it’ll be like mostly good for the most part if I want to go even crazier I could probably bump them down and make it actually 100% spawn proof but I like the aesthetic of the Torches

Up there by the way when building these hallways in the corners this is what I like to do connected ice right here so there’s no problem then you can easily like Spin and turn in the corner not an issue now once you start to build these nether ice roads sprawling throughout

Your nether because they are very very Samy looking at least how I’m building mine today it can get a little bit confusing because these things really do all start to look the same after a little bit of time I highly recommend putting guide signs inside of your

System too because I like to try and keep all of my nether systems on one road if I put a sign like this witch Farm Dead Ahead that’s going to remind me every single time when I pop through this portal if I’m trying to go to the

Witch Farm I need to keep going that way on the other hand if I want to go back to the beautiful Grove it’s going to be right straight down this hallway and Cherry Grove this way now I can almost guarantee that later on once we start beautifying each nether Hub inside of

This world something that we will definitely be doing once we end up coming back and make this whole thing look real pretty I’ll definitely switch those fence gates out with probably a more fitting gate but for now fence gates the next big thing you need inside

Of your nether ice road so check this out let’s role play let’s say I just finished up shop over at the witch hod Farm it was beautiful very very wild success so much glowstone I swing back over to the Nether and I want to stop over at the spawn base for something I

Don’t know like Vibes or something I’m sailing here and I don’t have any fence gates because I don’t have fence gates you sail right past it and completely miss it then you have to deal with this whole like wonky boat spinning mechanic try and turn around sail back over and

Stop however if I have fence gates in here and I try and leave one fence gate closed at all times you’ll never accidentally sail past it because it’s only a fence gate all you need to do is slow down a little bit so you can hit

The fence gate and then you can keep moving straight past it if you need to it’s really easy to use long story short fence gates and more specifically I like to place one fence gate and another fence gate to wide hallway excuse me sir leave me alone this is my Hub get out

Out of here you’re trash garbage so bad anyways I place fence gates at every single like important major intersection and I put two of them I leave one fence gate open the other one closed when I need to get through I flick it open Easy aside from the speed though another

Beauty about these nether Ice Road things is their ease of use one of my favorite things about these things is if you set them up right and 100% spawn proof them like you don’t even need to play the game to actually use these things oh hey rewind real quick this

Spot right here I went ahead and left this open I didn’t make it a full staircase so mobs can’t get in here but yeah this goes over to the Crimson Forest B I thought it might be nice or useful to like cut right down into the

Biome you know one other thing you might be wondering about this nether Hub tunnel is the blocks that I use I decided to go ahead and put full Netherrack everywhere because to be honest ever since that Netherrack texture update years and years ago I don’t like hate the look of this block

The texture itself is pretty clean and it almost makes me feel like I’m moving soaring through the inner innards of my Minecraft to whir like the the guts of it I don’t know maybe it’s a metaphor for something who knows another great option for lighting inside of this thing if you don’t want

To use a million torches is of course beautiful beautiful lanterns or maybe even more affordably go ahead and break out one of these Netherrack things and because it’s Netherrack right here we can go ahead and place fire and just light it and it’ll burn forever I really

Like the aesthetic of fire so I’m not going to do that but it’s an option keep it in mind all right so now now rounding this whole hallway off I’ve just about made it all the way back over to spawn here using a little bit of quick math to

Finish up the final hallway that we need to do today I don’t even need to do the maap I can look at the inventory and say this ice right here ah unfortunately I don’t know if it’s going to cut it this is a real long hallway over to the

Desert of course in a little bit I will come back in and get all of the other things that I need to get in in this room like fence gate signs everything like that and oh no way that lined up perfect I didn’t even consider this I’m

Going to have to go ahead and move this thing a little bit later on on one hand good news my dear friend Markiplier is pulling through with this thing and I think it’ll last the whole project but I just need more ice and here we are one one quarter

Episode of watching Etho annihilate decked out later and I finally I finally had long last made it this has been such a nice process but at the same time so painful I ended up cutting through the basalt Delta’s biome as you can see here and as you probably know bter mind’s a

Whole lot slower than nether right there so it ended up adding a whole lot of time to the project but honestly I mean I can’t complain there’s so much Bol to my inventory and way way more back over at the base at long last we have made it

I think for now I’ll leave the stop right here the resource desert anytime we need sand or even terra cotta as well maybe even more villagers is not a problem fully Linked UP check this out the entire way I got torches I got ice and I’ve got blocks all the way around

This thing other than right there yeah so as I’ve been going through this thing today I’ve been trying to fill in all the blocks and make it look really really good I figured once we moved into the basalt Delta leave the basalt it kind of looks cool like a space tunnel

Or something so I left it at one point in here like this spot right here specifically it’s a little bit Hollow this is where I’ve been harvesting Blackstone for future builds and basal as well I think I’m just going to go ahead and leave it like this cuz I’ll

Probably end up coming back very very soon maybe even even between episodes who knows no spoilers I’ll probably end up coming back real soon and getting a little bit more Blackstone for a future build that I have in mind this part of the tunnel was long it was so long but

Also I kind of overestimated it look at how much ice I have I think I probably would have had enough ice from the beginning here it’s marvelous nether Transport Systems like this with ice spaced out by one block and a two block wide hallway that’s at least two blocks

Tall as well a little bit of light inside of it some fence gates and signs as well I mean gosh it’s the best way to travel in all the Minecraft also setting one of these things up it’ll give you blocks and blocks and blocks look at all

That and then B salt I’ve got nine Stacks a little bit over actually of Basalt is beautiful and quite a bit of quartz too at one point I decided this start mining out the courts with good old multiplier over here to fix up The Mending situation a little bit the

Nether Hub the connects small the witch farm and even the resource desert as well is now fully set up and in my opinion a little bit beautiful looking over 100% chance we’ll be back inside of the nether maybe even soon who knows to start building out the nether Hub system

Even more but there is one final thing on the menu here today Project Hollow still continues that was part of it but now that we’re finally at long last back over at the base we can take a look at the villager challenge as you may remember we have a wonderful mending

Villager we needed a name and the number one common it was pretty close with the number one oh dear MOS Vermilion beautiful name Mya you are the winner of the contest I will get a name tag and name tag you my good friend mendal I think that’s the perfect
