Hey guys i’m ben and today i’m doing a minecraft mod spotlight and i’m checking out animal packer now this is my first mod spotlight so you have to bear with me um i’m always looking for new mods to add to the let’s play series we do here at have a cookie

And i found this mod on the forums it’s a brand new mod uh version 1.1 uh i actually checked it out version 1.0 i found a little bug um turned all my sheep into chickens and uh but the the mod creator uh leon drill i believe is how it’s pronounced i’m

Very sorry if i’m pronouncing your name wrong uh they they fixed it pretty much immediately which is fantastic great support and i’m playing 1.1 now and the mod does what it says on the tin it’s the animal packer mod and oddly enough i’ll let you pack up animals

Um so there’s two machines i’m here in my single player world by the way and i’m not on the server uh oh there’s no uu matter coming through the pipe anyway uh i’ve got a few mods installed but the one we’re focusing on is animal packer so these are the

Machines there’s the animal packer and the animal unpacker so i’ll pop these down and show you guys the interfaces um so here’s the animal packer and here’s the animal unpacker they both require a redstone input um so yeah that’s fair enough um and they both oh well actually no the animal

Packer requires paper it works similar to a furnace it’s the way in the way it works but what it does the really cool thing that it does is it sucks animals in so um the the animals you know could be back here or something you know that machine gets turned on

It’ll move forward and it’ll get sucked inside into this slot here and then it will power along and it will pack it up into an animal that looks a little bit like this uh and it looks adorable i mean look at the picture if i hold it in my hand

That is that is adorable yeah so very cute you can’t do anything with them um but what you can do is you can pop them into one of these the animal unpacker once it receives a redstone input it’ll power along and an animal will pop out

At the top now they do pop out a different kind of degree they sometimes they pop out really close and has to pop out really far away um it’s it’s always different but yeah this is the animal packer and the animal unpacker so if i pop these back in my inventory um

And i’ll show you guys guys how they’re made now i’ve got most of the materials to make one but i already have them so i’ll just show you how to make them uh the animal unpack we’ll start with the animal packer first the animal packer requires wheat

Seeds and a carrot and it requires two of these packing machines uh the packing machines are made with paper to iron redstone and just any type of wood across the bottom wooden planks to be specific um and that will make a packing machine now you require three of these to make both

A packer and an unpacker together so uh yeah so the animal packer is made with two of those and three iron across the bottom whereas the unpacker is made with just two iron one packing machine and three wood on the bottom so very simple and once you make those up in the

Crafting bench you will have the items and now we’re i’m gonna pop on down to my farm down here near this village uh which i’ve already been testing all this stuff out and it works just the treat okay guys uh i am down here at my farm there’s

Some pigs and cows and stuff roaming around um that i transported over uh i’m gonna pop inside i’ve already got the packer and unpacker set up so we’ll first we’ll check out the packer let’s get this let’s get you inside sir come on stop being difficult have i got a carrot

I do have a carrot okay uh if i can get the carrot there we go come on uh inside with you come on you can’t really stay off though pop it over manually come on there we go and um where’s he going oh hang on so is it already got power okay

He popped inside here okay so oh i think the cow wants it i think these guys actually want to get in um i’ll tell you what i’ll let you guys let you guys hop in as well pop that block there you should be able to climb on over

Come on okay those guys didn’t want to get in but let’s show you guys how this works i’ll pop the paper in it’s already powered you can see it uses the paper uses about four paper per animal uh it’s starting to get dark and what it’ll do is it’ll

Shush uh it’ll go along and it will make a packed pig uh just like the 18 i already have in my inventory and what it really means is if you have farms that are like you know hundreds and hundreds of blocks apart rather than having to use

Carrots or wheat or anything because you can use this with chickens cows pigs and sheep rather than transporting them you know manually that way which would take forever if even possible with some of the terrain instead you can use this you can put them in your inventory and just walk um

Or you know ride a main car anything you know they’re in your inventory so there we go there’s a packed pig so now let’s unpack this pig let them be free i’ve already got the switches turned on so that it’s powered because it does require the redstone

Input as i mentioned before it’s getting very dark um okay and this piggy should pop out i don’t know where you’ll pop out oh how far away we will see in a moment come on you’re gonna oh he really he went pretty high they don’t always do that but you know he’s not

Dead i could eat him but i’m not gonna keep i’m gonna turn this off before any more pigs pop inside and take the paper up and uh yeah so that that is it pretty much that is the packer um yeah okay guys uh over here i’ve got just a

Quick experiment i wanted to try because i saw someone on the forums did request uh information about you know how far away uh the machine will pull them inside uh so i’ve got this loaded up with a bit of paper and i’ve kind of built this thing i

Built it with their fence posts uh with gates but they kind of got stuck on the gates and then i tried it with the wooden walls but then i thought no maybe i’m kind of funneling them now maybe like this one here was just walking down the walls and then as soon

As he got within distance then he was going to it so what i’ve done is i’ve made it so that what i’m gonna do is i’m gonna break these middle pieces it allows them to go any direction they want but if they want to and if the machine

Is pulling them in they will go this way so uh is the machine on is that on i’m not sure uh let me pop the liver down just for good measure now it’s on definitely okay so now we will break this open and see if the piggy wants to go

Inside now usually takes a few seconds for them unless you give them a nudge which i don’t want to do i want to see if he’ll do it on his own accord uh so you’re gonna go in he’s kind of looking at me right now

You’re gonna go in there sir oh there we go any goes okay so that’s number one okay so it’s worked so far so uh that is a lot of pigs being packed up there i’m just gonna pull those out i still got enough paper for a few more

And as you can see uh already we are what’s that uh you know two four six eight ten twelve fourteen uh fourteen blocks i believe more or less uh and they’ve been going in absolutely fine so let’s do the last few uh see if these

Guys are just a little bit too far away to uh have any interest with going in oh where’s he going nope he’s lost interest oh sometimes you don’t know these pigs uh well that guy lost interest he’s actually still hanging around there somewhere he might wander in

If he gets a bit closer uh we’ll do the final one just to be sure uh oh he’s off over there yeah so we’re talking about you know a 14 15 block radius around this machine will uh draw pigs in and that is pretty impressive that’s pretty cool

So that’s all the way out what was that uh you know around here this far away that’s really cool last but not least i wanted to try out this uh which is using the buildcraft pipes along with the animal packer mod and i noticed that the developer has said that

His future plans are to maybe add some build craft integration so that the build craft will work nicely with animal packer but i found that it already does that it’s already getting dark again i found it already seems to do that because this is kind of set up very

Similar to a furnace simply adding a pipe onto it it draws out the animal so when it was packed uh this engine pulled it out here put it in a chest and it worked uh and then i’ll tell you what i’ll test it let’s uh

Grab some pig that’s not not all of them um and then this will pump the uh the pigs out um pump them along we’ll just do a couple um it will pump them along into the unpacker but what i found is with the unpacker the pipe has to go into the top

Of the machine otherwise it won’t work but that’s fair enough and as these animals are very slowly coming along uh tell you what just cheated oh there’s all your cow in there okay let’s start the machine off uh or turn it on even there we go

Um if i got any torches on me no i don’t just light up the area um and what sometimes happens is the the animal will get trapped inside the machine when it spawns we’ll see if this happens in this case it doesn’t always uh if you guys can even see this

Oh he went pretty high so if they shoot up pretty high there you this this pipe here usually doesn’t affect them but sometimes it does um but yeah this will go in here it will work so it already kind of works with buildcraft um which i’m very happy about because

You’re a little pump uh oh gold about to pump the animals around uh via pipes which is very cool i’m sure i could find some reason some uh purposes for that oh god there’s all sorts okay i’m gonna have to beat you guys a farewell i hope you enjoyed
