Notice something different because something huge was revealed today boom here we are over on the official minecraft site a blog post just went live and talking about a pretty big update to the game but instead of an update in the game this time this is an update that happens outside of the game

This blog post is all about java edition moving house or in other words java edition migrating accounts in the future beginning in the fall if you’re buying java edition for the first time you’ll need a microsoft account to buy java if you currently have java edition you’ll have to migrate your account

Early 2021 that’s going to be before caves and cliffs drops so right off the bat you may be a little bit nervous about this one but yes your java edition account the account that you currently play on will be migrated over to a microsoft account early next year

And you won’t have an option now this migration actually won’t be automatic eventually once this migration stuff begins happening according to the blog post you’ll receive an email telling you that it’s time for you to migrate your own account because there are so many java edition

Accounts i mean think about it the game has been around for 11 years and millions and millions of people have bought this thing yeah there’s gonna be a lot of accounts simply because there are so many java edition accounts accounts will end up being migrated in batches

Or basically in chunks you might be first you might be later on now like i mentioned this migration is not automatic you’re going to have to do it manually but oh trust me 100 elites you’re gonna want to migrate your account of course why would you want to migrate

Your account well increase security oh yes that’s right your account will be okay no not really i mean your account will be more secure than ever which is always a good thing but the big thing is the reward for migrating your account you will actually receive a free cape chopping edition

Players are finally getting that cape love i’m excited about this this is something that i have been wanting for years java edition is finally getting more caves which is amazing now if you didn’t know capes are actually not new to minecraft not new at all in fact back in the day there

Were actually a handful of capes released but check this out uh these capes for minecon attendees so these were very very limited edition now these capes will also change the look of your elytra i mean check out that iron golem one or even better even better of the enderman one yeah

That’s sweet now unfortunately these capes are all capes that are in the past unfortunately mojang won’t be handing out these capes as long as you migrate your account though you’ll actually get a cape on that account all of this exciting cave stuff was announced in a blog post accompanied by

Capes are cool alright okay and they’re another way to customize your player which is pretty cool bedrock edition officially received cape support a while back at this point and last year then minecon live this cape was basically handed out i mean you had to redeem it

But it was free after that this pancake cape was added into the game for all players for free as well i don’t know why it’s a pancake but it’s a pancake like i mentioned capes are another cool way to customize your skin show off your

Style a little bit and the big one here the one that’s my favorite check that out with the elytra the pancake cape turns into a literal pancake okay honestly not the coolest thing in the world but imagine it like a red elijah or something cool like that

Yeah definitely a whole lot more custom and definitely a whole lot more cool looking even more cool looking than an enchanted elytra okay now let’s get a little bit more speculative because that’s always fun with all accounts migrated over to microsoft accounts i would imagine that it would be easier

In the future for mojang and microsoft to give out more minecraft capes for events maybe minecraft live 2021 maybe update releases maybe just randomly more capes these more capes that would end up being released would presumably be for java edition and for better recognition so players across the

Community could all collect the same capes now usually at least in the past with the java edition capes the capes were sort of a limited edition thing they were available for a while and then they were gone or they were only given out to select people like with the minecon capes

You had to attend a minecon so honestly i would love to see capes get released with the updates like for example the bee update maybe there’s a bee cape and then once the nether update releases the bee cape is gone forever unless you claimed it if you claimed

That cape then you’d have it in your account forever capes are a great way for players to be able to show how long they’ve been in the community and if capes got easier to release across both editions then i would think that mojang would release more of them but of course unfortunately speculation

Here what we do know is that every single java edition player as long as they migrate their account over will get access to a cape once they migrate their account over which is pretty cool the slightly less cool part that might upset some of you

Uh you have no choice you will have to migrate your java edition account over uh and if you don’t then in the future you won’t be able to log into your account at all definitely a huge problem for sure so you’re going to need to migrate your account over but don’t worry

According to the blog post and the video migrating your account over will change basically nothing other than how you log in that’s it the game will be exactly the same java edition is not becoming better architection java edition is not getting cancelled java edition isn’t changing in any way the change

Here is all about how you log into your account and the change here is also all about security a couple other things that you might be wondering about all of this migration stuff will java edition players still be able to create and use custom skins yes will java edition still be able to

Be modded yes will java edition still get updates yes uh yeah elites nothing big in terms of the game is really changing here here are a couple more reasons from the blog post for this account migration stuff increased security all of your minecraft games will be connected to the same account

Minecraft and minecraft dungeons but who knows what we’ll do next i’m sure mojang will eventually make another minecraft game improve parental controls noise and a chat and invitation blocking going back to the speculation again because it’s fun so with all accounts migrated over to microsoft accounts which are definitely better

Definitely better than mojang accounts i mean come on it’s literally microsoft would that mean the java edition players will finally get a friending system too because that would be awesome that’s something that i’ve wanted for like literally ever too so beginning later this year if you’re purchasing java edition for the first time

You’ll need a microsoft account and beginning early 2021 if you play java edition already you’ll have to migrate your account you’ll have to migrate that account but once you do your account will have increased security all of your minecraft games will be under one account and you’ll receive

A free cape i know it’s a relatively small bit of news but i felt it was pretty important to talk about i could see a lot of people getting really really confused wondering if java edition is ending or something like that which again it is definitely not ending your account is just getting
