When looking back at Old Minecraft youtubers there is not one that stands out quite like generic b some of you may not even know who this Minecrafter is considering he has been absent from YouTube for years now but his story is an interesting one A Tale of rejection And betrayal of a man that simply likes to tell funny jokes the man that created the most famous SMP of all time so how did it all begin and what went wrong join me as we unravel the mystery of this iconic YouTuber and explore the story of generic being generic b also Known as Judson Chapman was born on March 29 1975 in Oklahoma city a city known for its Cowboy culture and being among the most affordable in the US Judson would study electronic and computer engineering in college and would also play in a band at the time earning the nickname the generic Bluesman and thus the generic bee nickname was born most likely before most people watching this video he would end up getting married in November 1999 a time in which even the best computers had only 128 megabytes of RAM and Age of Empires 2 was dominating the gaming Scene now that we’ve got that out of the way let’s jump a decade into the future to the creation of Minecraft and the birth of the generic b Channel but first let’s take a look at this clip of generic b on the game show Let’s Make a Deal in 2010. okay now moving on the date was August 8 2011 and generic b would upload his first video to YouTube a Minecraft video showcasing his mob spawner design hey guys this is generic b with my very first Minecraft video The spawner could toggle between only Spiders or tour mobs and used half slabs to prevent spiders from spawning he was inspired by Ethos Lab to make this design and similar to many old school Minecraft youtubers his first videos were sharing his Redstone Creations these included hidden piston doors and a dual level mushroom farm among other Designs he would even share his aesthetic design ideas with a tutorial on how to make your storage rooms look awesome which he created in his very early Minecraft world this is where we began to see generic B’s hilarious Persona pastor and goofing around and I was kind of bored and I started thinking About chest not those kind of chests as time went by he uploaded more and more of his Minecraft designs and began to interact more with the YouTube Community including doing a video response to Doc M who was asking ideas for a minecart tunnel in his base Dokken would end up Giving him a shout out and they would go on to become good friends during this period Judson would always use his favorite texture pack jollycraft and reached 500 subscribers in September one month after beginning his YouTube Journey he had an explosive celebration if you’re enjoying this video remember To just go down hit that subscribe button no pressure no pressure let’s get straight back to it soon enough generic b would begin his first ever Survival Let’s Play a historical moment for any Minecraft YouTuber with the first episode titled you kids get off my spawn Minecrafters generic b here with episode 1 of my brand new 1.8 let’s play series entitled get off my spawn he also came to kick butt and eat watermelon with a melon farm of Epic Proportions in episode 2. the series began on beta version 1.8 and this is where he really started to gain popularity on YouTube Viewers loved his funny Persona and he got more views than he ever had on these episodes reaching 1 000 subscribers one month later in October 2011 to celebrate he would do a 24-hour live stream for charity some of you may remember a series titled Redstone Wars which was Started by generic b way back in the early days of his channel he would collaborate with other YouTubers such as roboticos Seth bling and Exuma void and there was a different topic for each episode when versing Seth bling they would design Rube Goldberg machines a machine that performs a simple task in a Very overcomplicated Way season two of his Survival Let’s Play was also underway played in a winter wonderland and his channel was growing faster than ever before Judson enjoyed making videos and YouTube was his hobby but for the first time it seemed that maybe it could be something more and very soon he would Upload one of the most historical Minecraft videos of all time yo yo yo everybody generic V here with another Minecraft video video thank you the date was April 14 2012 and generic b uploads a video titled hermicraft app one I got my Redstone wires crossed the video began with him in his regular Survival world until he clicked a button and his Redstone malfunctioned it seemed to transport him to ethoslab’s Minecraft world very strange indeed he made it back to his world but it seemed his Redstone wires were still indeed crossed and it would fall from the sky into a brand new Minecraft world there was Simply a sign that read welcome to the hermitcraft server what the heck welcome to the hermitcraft circle whoa the heck is the hermitcraft circle the first ever glimpse of hermitcraft this is where it all began the hermitcraft server was actually named after generic b who referred to himself As the gaming hermit some of the first members on the server were beat up low hypnotized Joe Hills and Exuma void with hermitcraft generic b would have a newfound popularity on YouTube achieving a big milestone of 50 000 subscribers in August of 2012. this was massive Considering he had a mere 4 000 Subs at the beginning of the year at the time there was another well-known SMP going on known as Minecraft and Judson mentioned that he loved everything that the Minecraft guys do and hermitcraft was not meant to be a rival for it for The most part the hermitcraft server ran smoothly despite a couple terrain generation issues early on that caused the map to be reset and the server was gaining lots of popularity on YouTube so what happened why did generic b leave so early in hermitcraft’s history well maybe it wasn’t as early as you might Think almost exactly one year after his first hermitcraft video Judson would upload his last ever hermitcraft video on April 20th 2013. his chair panel had seen immense popularity and he had around 260 000 subscribers at the time he would explain that the hermitcraft players had gotten together and there Was a lot of agreement that they had been getting bored of the vanilla survival let’s play after all they had played on the same world for a year many players were recording videos less frequently and some had stopped playing entirely not being seen on the server for months he explained that they were Just going to stop recording videos on the server although he was very understanding that viewers would be upset to see the server disappear Judson did not expect the server to last much longer but regardless he ended up transferring ownership to Exuma void who had been extremely committed to his Hermitcraft let’s play series at the time it didn’t seem like he was leaving the server early but simply leaving after a good run and a let’s play that lasted a year completely unaware that the server would still exist to this day 10 years later he would actually wish to Come back to hermitcraft later on but we’ll talk more about that later in this video during his time on hermitcraft he would also begin a let’s play on the Minecraft server a series that would continue after he left hermitcraft this series was actually very popular and his channel was growing rapidly Collaborating with many other YouTubers such as Etho and boo who would also play on Minecraft at the time generic b was very good friends with B Double O and they call themselves the B team playing on various Minecraft servers and maps and even other games such as Black Ops 2. one memorable moment from the B team was when they launched an attack on ethos base on the Minecraft server the attack was likened to kicking the Hornet’s Nest as no one had previously had the courage to do such a thing likely due to what a nice guy ether was As well as his Minecraft ability perhaps deservingly they ended up being slain by Ether at the end of the episode I’m coming I’m in the nether now oh he’s got flaming yeah he’s playing like oh I died he’s Invincible generic Bay would begin uploading many more videos of other Games despite beginning his Channel with only Minecraft he’s said to be a gamer you must play a wide variety of games not just Minecraft wise words indeed as 2013 came to a close GB would continue his Minecraft series and also play many adventure maps such as Desperado a Cowboy-themed map he would end 2013 just shy of 500 000 subscribers and despite hermitcraft ending his audience continued to enjoy his content for his entertaining personality in 2014 the B-Team friendship with generic b and b double O continued and they played more maps including diversity diversity was a Unique take on the complete the monument genre in which you would have to complete a Minecraft Monument with a piece of colored wall however in diversity each War would be obtained by completing a completely different Minecraft map should you tell how much you’re backing into before you back into something oh ritual He was still going strong with the mycracked episodes as well which played a very big throw in his Channel’s success it was his longest running series and loved by his fans it was also the only vanilla series he continued on his channel as his other content had either shifted towards adventure maps Modded or other games yeah a gentleman oh my God I finally got it and it was in this period that we also saw a return of redstone Wars one of his earliest series he would verse Captain Sparkles in a robot themed Redstone battle generic b Makes a lot of videos over 4 500 today to be exact meaning he often has hundreds of videos in the span of just a few months how many of you have heard of the Modpack called Attack of the B Team well this mod pack was actually made by Generic b and b double O the B Team themselves Judson would upload his first attack of the B Team episode in February 2014 and it was an iconic series on his channel currently sitting at over 600 000 views I believe I can fly I believe I can Sting the guy it also became one of the most popular mod packs of all time and was a classic back in the day that is of course if your computer could handle the insane number of mods but moving into 2015 judson’s Focus had shifted a lot Towards other games such as Far Cry 4 and Red Dead Redemption and away from Minecraft he was no longer recording on the Minecraft server as well as barely uploading any Minecraft videos but moving on to 2016 his channel was still doing incredibly well and he was approaching 1 million subscribers Despite starting YouTube as a hobby it was certainly a career by now at the same time hermitcraft was getting a lot of attention on YouTube and YouTubers such as mumbo jumbo were getting almost a million views per episode so what happened to the founder of hermitcraft Did he ever rejoin well I’m glad you asked in early 2017 as season 5 of hermitcraft was about to commence generic b actually requested to rejoin the hermitcraft server however his request was denied but why was the original founder of hermitcraft not allowed back on XB crafted a member of The hermitcraft server replied to a Reddit thread stating that all decisions like this are made by the entire hermitcraft group and even if one player has concerns it could cause the request to be vetoed so what were the concerns would generic be actually responded to the same thread stating that he thought It was likely due to the fact that he no longer really made Minecraft content and just played other games and that therefore he wouldn’t be a good fit for the server whilst he didn’t agree with the decision he stated he didn’t Harbor any negative feelings and made it clear That there was no drama between him and the hermitcraft players however there could be another reason he wasn’t allowed back on the server since generic b left hermitcraft it grew a lot in popularity and are now attracted a younger audience than before you see when it first began hermitcraft had a Feel that was more suited to a more mature audience but that changed as more YouTubers joined the server and the server grew so I think due to the jokes and Persona that generic b has the current members thought that he wouldn’t be a good fit with a new culture for Example jokes that could put the child-friendly nature of the server in Strife this is of course just my opinion and we don’t know fully why he wasn’t allowed to rejoin the server but I’m curious to hear what you guys think in the comments below upon the denial of His request generic bit will continue uploading videos on other games but his channel growth slowed he had surpassed 1 million subscribers but his growth was nothing like he’d seen before likely Drew him no longer uploading Minecraft videos the game upon which he had built his audience and then in May 2018 he Would stop uploading gaming content entirely and almost all content with only a vlog here and there so is generic b gone for good no actually he has moved almost entirely to Twitch despite having a YouTube channel with over 1 million subscribers he streams frequently on Twitch mainly playing modded Minecraft In June 2021 there was actually another situation involving generic b and the hermitcraft server when he made a series of tweets insinuating that he would be joining hermitcraft season 8. this was just a joke however some people made donations to his stream in anticipation of him playing hermitcraft and there was Backlash when it turned out to be false he would apologize for the joke and don’t enter the money to the charity SOS Africa and while he is gone from YouTube and repudiated from the hermitcraft server he will always remain the original hermit generic b has a truly entertaining Persona and from his funny Jokes to his channel Shenanigans with B Double O he has provided thousands of us with hours of entertainment over the years he was an extremely committed and dedicated YouTuber uploading thousands of videos and is a Kind and Generous person evidenced by his many charity streams despite no longer uploading to YouTube generic b is one of the most iconic Minecraft youtubers creating perhaps the most popular Minecraft SMP in history and although his requests was denied you never know maybe someday the original hermit will make a return thank you for watching this video I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below Remember to subscribe and take care brush your hair I’ll see you when I see you peace Video Information
