This is Mumbo Jumbo. He’s the biggest redstone YouTuber and is widely considered by most players to be the best redstoner. But this is actually not true. Now don’t get me wrong, Mumbo is brilliant at making redstone both entertaining and accessible. But there are people who make far more complex and advanced redstone Now, before people rush off to the comments with pitch forks and torches, this isn’t slander, Mumbo has even said this himself. “I am not actually the best at redstone”. So, if Mumbo isn’t the best redstoner, then who is? Crafty: *gasp* Purple, is it… meee? No Crafty, It’s not you. *Crafty hysterically crying* Mattbattwings: What about me? Where are you guys even coming from?. Anyway, as someone who’s been redstoning for over 10 years now I feel that I can at least attempt to give a somewhat decent answer. And the award for best Redstoner goes to… nobody. Now, I know, that’s not a very satisfying answer, so let me explain. The problem lies with the question itself, “who is THE best redstoner?”. It can’t just be 1 person, since there are different AREAS of redstone that people specialise in. The 4 main ones Being technical minecraft, computational redstone, flying machines and doors. For example, you can’t really say a computational person is “better” at redstone than a slimestoner, because while it IS all redstone, the things they do ultimately can’t be compared. It’s 2 completely different Skillsets, so we’re literally comparing apples to oranges. And not to mention, each area has lots of subcategories, and nobody does all of them. There’s also some overlap in places, and some redstone doesn’t fit anywhere here at all. It’s a complicated mess. So, the ONLY way we could simply Point at someone and say, “Look, it’s them! That’s THE best redstoner!”, is if 1 godlike gigachad went on some kind of Avatar journey to perfectly master all 4 elements! …except the “elements” are actually the different areas of redstone. No such person exists, so this question is unanswerable. Or is it? We’ve already split redstone into 4 different areas, so logically, we should split our question up as well. It’s a lot more realistic to answer that way. Now, the answers won’t be perfect, so they should be taken with a gigantic grain of salt. We’ll start things off easy with piston doors. Meet the Synergy server; a small, but active community of Minecraft’s most talented door makers. Redstone is pretty competitive here, so to keep track of things, the community built these. The world record plots. 4 gigantic museums Showcasing all kinds of redstone records. There’s even a discord where everything can be searched through text. This gives us some objective criteria to go off, since owning lots of world records is a pretty clear demonstration of skill. But on its own, it’s not perfect. While It DOES take skill to break a record, if we just look at someone’s record collection, then we’re mostly measuring quantity. We’re not measuring how difficult each record was to break. Like, owning the record for the smallest 2×2 doesn’t carry as much weight as smallest 10×10. So, I also Got the Synergy members to vote on a google form. But Purple why did you put YOUR name as an option? That’s biased! Welp, yeah I agree. It’s biased. BUT THE “I” IS SILENT. To make the votes easier To read, I compiled them into pie charts because I am a nerd. So, for the observer category, which is just any door that uses observers, it’s actually pretty close. Up there are people like SacredRedstone, who made the smallest possible 3×3 door at just 56 blocks and is well known in the Door community for having made many world-firsts. Tied with Sacred is lum3nd0 who makes a lot of doors that strike a good balance between speed and size, like these 3 5x5s that are ridiculously small for how fast they are. But, pulling slightly ahead is Myuen, who not only received the most Votes, but also holds over 80 world records, which is by far the most on record that are currently tracked. Naturally, after the observer category comes the observerless category… because that’s… what happens… when you don’t have… observers. Whoever put this here, I hate you. Here, The results are much clearer. The community voted overwhelmingly in favour of Armadillo28. And while he doesn’t hold the MOST observerless records, he won simply through the sheer quality of his redstone. You see, Arma is a literal God at utilising minecarts to overcome the lack of Observers. He holds the records for the smallest observerless 3×3, 4×4 and 5×5, and together with Jonny, who was also very highly voted in this category, they hold the records for the smallest observerless, 6×6 through 10×10. And just to flex their dominance, these 2 gigachads released them All at the same time, completely sweeping the records for the bigger NxN doors. Though for a lot of people, size doesn’t matter. It’s the speed that counts ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) That’s where the 0-tick category comes in. And the votes here are pretty unanimous. The community voted Alugia7 As the best 0 tick door maker, and with good reason. He simply holds far more speed records than anybody else, and the community knows him to have an extremely deep knowledge of 0 ticks. Now it’s time for technical Minecraft. And this is where things get difficult. For doors, Everything was organised for us into nice, simple, unambiguous categories. But in Technical Minecraft, things don’t always fit neatly into 1 simple category, and there are way more things to compare for, that aren’t always measurable. Sure, we can measure things like lag-friendliness and The drop rates of farms, but for mob farms, well the fastest solution is almost always portal spam. That’s not very complex. And you can’t properly measure other important things, like how easy something is to build in survival. It’s way too subjective. The most you could do is ask for the TechMC community’s opinions. Yeah… everyone had a different answer, because this area of redstone is so much more diverse than the other ones. It doesn’t just span different kinds of redstone, it spans different Minecraft versions. Sure, we could keep dividing it down into smaller and smaller Parts, but even then, most of the comparisons we’d draw would be meaningless. And this video would likely drag on forever trying to answer every single edge case. So as much as I don’t want to, I think we’ll have to leave technical Minecraft unanswered. It’s a tough call for flying machines Too, however, I do have a sneaking suspicion of what everyone’s gonna say. Mythical Pingu. This is actually not that surprising considering some of the insane things he’s made, like this working pirate ship, this TNT bomber plane, or this giant moving tank with a missile on top! And now we’re back to something that’s a bit easier to decide. Redstone logic. And to help us out, we have several people from the Open Redstone Engineering discord. Sammyuri. A redstoner whose skills speak for themselves. He made the Chungus CPU. A powerful generalised computer in Minecraft, that can run all kinds of programs including Minecraft …in Minecraft …with 3D graphics! Do I need to say any more? This video took a really long time to put together so please do consider subscribing. I really wanna hit 100k Before December 15th, which will be my 10 year YouTube anniversary. *shocked anime gasp* 紫は私ですか Video Information

I try answering the age old question: who is the best redstoner? Most people will probably tell you that it’s @ThatMumboJumbo, but the answer isn’t as simple as you might think :p
