When someone reminisces about classic adventure time episodes they’ll probably talk about a few but there’s a specific one that goes onto the radar for too many fans of the series it was diamonds and lemons the story that took place entirely in minecraft Technically it’s the penultimate episode of adventure time because they’re before come along with me but this is considered non-canon despite all that let’s take a look back at one of the most undertalked episodes that should deserve some more attention in modern day the biggest question anyone would have After hearing about an adventure time minecraft crossover is why why did anyone think this made sense or the two had a strong connection with each other the truth is i have no answer to the question but i know adventure time has experimented with more than a few different styles over its run So it’s not that big of a surprise to see something like this diamonds and lemons is a simple bonus episode that doesn’t contribute to the overall story but it immediately stood out as something unique from the very beginning the theme song was redone from the Ground up in a new style and it reflects the aesthetic of the game oh boy i love me some pixels you knew an episode was special when it had a completely different theme song and you had to get your popcorn ready right away cause this was hype the title card for Diamonds and lemons gives us a pretty good idea of what the episode is about more than a few characters get the spotlight doing various activities in minecraft whether it be mining for diamonds trying to grow something or whatever ice king is doing here with the pumpkin everyone does that right from the first Few minutes it’s clear that this is very different from all the other adventure time episodes there’s not too much of an overarching story other than everything surrounding finn we get to see a variety of mini stories going on all around at the same time which kept the 11 minutes going by as Smoothly as possible one of the best parts about diamonds and lemons is that it gives the spotlight to pretty much all the major characters you can think of it feels like an all-star episode one that shows you a bit of everything and what makes adventure time special Every aspect of the story relates to minecraft in some way which makes sense cause look where we are it also means that anyone who isn’t familiar with the game won’t have as much fun watching which is probably a decent sized group of people while it’s true a bunch of references Will go over their heads this should still have a few jokes everyone can find funny but i honestly love how faithful this is to the original source material small blink and you missing moments appear on screen that make you realize okay the crew knows what they’re doing For example this crazy elevator set up in the mine or princess bubblegum putting down redstone for an invention these are small things that aren’t outright brought to attention in the episode because they don’t need to be but the fact that they’re here at all just goes to show this isn’t a pointless crossover The small details reveal that there was actually heart and effort in making this which is something you don’t see every day diamonds and lemons was also just really funny whether it be jake throwing his rare collection of diamonds into lava for literally no reason or the gravel gang planning their next Grief this episode had anything you could want from these characters Like i said before you probably wouldn’t laugh nearly as much if you don’t actually play minecraft yourself but that’s just how it’d be when you watch something about a game you’ve never played the crossover featured its own soundtrack of songs that have never appeared throughout adventure time up until this point They weren’t taken directly from minecraft but you could tell that they were heavily inspired to just give you a nice calm feeling when i listen to these tunes i just want to sit back and dream about peace on earth and i have a sudden urge to build a structure made of blocks Even when the episode sadly comes to an end like all good things must we get a very brief minecraftified version of the come along with me credit song it ties up some of the small loose ends throughout the 11 minutes while bringing all the characters stories to a close in The best way possible the most exciting part about these credits is how catchy the remix is the worst part is that we never got an extended version cartoon network i’m waiting diamonds and lemons may not be one of the best episodes of the entire series but it’s severely underappreciated and Overshadowed by a ton of the show’s other well-known stories for fans of minecraft this delivers in more ways than one and it’s a shame to see how many people forgot it even existed at all to be fair it aired in 2018 which was a time when adventure time’s popularity dramatically decreased If for some reason you haven’t heard about this minecraft crossover or you just never got the chance to watch i highly recommend checking it out toss away the thinking of why this exists in the first place because sometimes we gotta just go with the flow and accept our reality Finn had an adventure in minecraft that happened there’s no going back now fellow viewer it’s your turn to give it a watch but anyway that’s all for this video subscribe for more awesome cartoon videos give a thumbs up and comment below what you think thanks for watching And i’ll see you guys next time Video Information
