As Minecraft dungeons failed when Minecraft dungeons launched in 2020 it looked promising and received 11 and a half million players in the first year but how many players are actually active today when the game became available on Steam in September 2021 it peaked at 2200 players in 2022 dungeons averaged 403 players a week that is an 82 percent decrease since launch assuming the same Trend happened across the other platforms roughly 2 million players are actively playing dungeons compared to other games 2 million players seems like a success but when the base game gets a hundred million monthly players it’s not That great so what caused the sharp decline well a major problem with dungeons is that anyone can beat the entire game in one sitting you pay twenty dollars and three hours later it’s game over thanks for playing unless you want to buy some DLCs this is a major issue many of the Minecraft Dungeon updates are DLCs and it’s hard to get recurring players when they have to buy more content and perhaps dungeons might be a money grab for Mojang since everyone has Minecraft they can’t be sustained with limited sales so they have to make money elsewhere like everyone’s favorite mine coins but Something better than mine coins is the Subscribe button no pressure though anyways another issue that disengages players Minecraft dungeons lacks character development the player doesn’t face any consequences for their decisions you can just Salvage an item and get back what you lost and there is simply no reason to make a new character As there are no classes if there were it would allow players to become experts in a preferred class and can make a more unique Story by having your own impact yes you can have a combination of items in the six slots given the illusion of classes but there’s nothing special About your character as anyone can have the same weapons and items you have Minecraft dungeons is fun and a nice addition to the world of Minecraft but there may be a future that lies ahead where dungeons is no longer updated or shut down furthermore I worry about the Next game to the Minecraft Universe Minecraft Legends which might fall into the same trap as Minecraft dungeons what’s up this story and development of Legends will draw on players who will continue to play for weeks months or even years but hold on why is Mojang developing other games when they could Be preventing the death of Minecraft 1.20 might kill it Video Information

Was Minecraft Dungeons a flop? When Dungeons launched, there was a lot of potentials. But when forced to purchase the game and then buy Minecraft Dungeons DLCs for good updates, it seems like a cash grab for Mojang, especially now with the Minecraft Dungeons Season Pass (really a Fortnite Battle Pass). Since launch, the active player base has declined 82%, leaving roughly two million active players for Minecraft Dungeons. Minecraft Dungeons lacks character development as there are no classes nor consequences for decisions, like with salvaging enchanted items. But what about the upcoming game Minecraft Legends? Will it fall into the same trap as Minecraft Dungeons? Or is the Dungeons decline fueled by a declining Minecraft?
