Wilderness Survival in Overgrown Minecraft? | Vintage Story | Day 1

Thank you Thank you Foreign Foreign [Applause] [Applause] Hello everybody I hope everyone is having a fantastic day and they’ve had a great weekend today we are playing vintage story now it’s been a good what solid year maybe since I’ve actually played this I’m not gonna remember anything but this is gonna be um a very chilled out stream hopefully

Hopefully there’ll be some building um there’s gonna be some building that was one of the things that I wanted to do to get back some to doing some building and vintage story does have a lot of aspects which I love about the building and the mechanical Power and stuff um

But I say it’s going to be stress free but I guarantee that I’m probably going to be frustrated with building the tools I am not a Minecraft player so I don’t know the intricacies of what the recipes are so um there is a lot to it I know that much

Um if I can survive like the first few days then it should be good but we’re we’re going to be playing on totally uh easy mode yeah I I know Blue Bell I I jinxed myself saying it’s gonna be chilled out but I’m gonna be like ah ah

So I might end up tabbing out and looking at recipes and stuff like that so we’ll see I can’t remember I think there is a recipe kind of guide in game um but yeah with that being said let’s jump on into the game uh let’s uh create

A character as I say I’m very very Rusty zero deaths I think not in soil edemas I think not all right still not liking my keyboard shortcuts uh all right well you’re gonna be like that I’m just gonna have to get annoyed all right there we go I know there isn’t any sound

Right now but uh we’re gonna pick uh probably exploration mode I think it’s gonna be the best I guess we’ll do uh create World Now red Vikings hermit story I thought that that was a really kind of poetic don’t you think uh we might end up leaving some music or

Uh what is this I feel like this is a bad thing It makes nice trumpet sounds though okay that’s a doctor who crack in the universe very bad should I run into it just me thinking wouldn’t this be really cool to build a base here just because of this orange tree but no I’d have to live next door to this

And it makes a noise you’d keep me up at night you’re no good as a neighbor all right uh let’s eat some berries yeah I’m eating berries look at my look at my health it’s flying up now okay I feel like um this is a good place to

And I picked that up that’s perfect okay now I can go to the crafting UI system which should be e for some reason my mouse isn’t working so that explains what is something something’s got wrong with my mouse all right hang on a second let’s work out what is going on

Man there is something been going wrong with my uh with synapse it’s not liking it I might have to uninstall it and reinstall it it’s very very strange there we go all right let’s see if this works no it’s still not what it’s weird it’s sleep work it’s some

Things are working but other things aren’t working really slowly has wait no I need to eat it eat it eat it eat it oh it’s getting dark it’s getting dark um we need to make stuff okay we haven’t got time for this I think we just need a stick and I think

But we just need to find the grass in the dark here we go do I don’t think we picked up the grass where was the grass by the way it is totally pitch black I can’t see a dang thing so I I really am doing stuff I did

This was my problem I was worried that my first night I wouldn’t be able to do anything okay so firewood what is firewood though like I haven’t even got any wood my first day has been ruined when is the fire starter two sticks oh look we can actually make

Some stuff here I really need to get yeah see we haven’t got any cat tails it took too long foreign I do love this game yeah I want to I want to I want to progress I want to get somewhere in this game and I know I can but unfortunately I can’t

You know what’s funny I think you can see more than I can how is that possible I’m looking on the stream and I’m seeing things on the stream that I can’t see on my own monitor that’s hilarious like I can see the pills there perhaps I should be playing through that

There’s a tree I can’t see that on my screen I can’t see the tree or the or the pills there there’s a pillar here and I can’t see it hahaha that’s hilarious you’re using your imagination yeah I apologize stream because like I will be sorted for the next day it’s just it

Took me a little bit too long working it out I I was exploring and I should have been like probably cutting down trees and and making my tools plus they could and having a fire pit um because I’ve got too much useless stuff here I feel like

I’ve got a lot of useless stuff in my inventory at least I’m not worried about the food situation right now I will have to start worrying about it but not yet we planted some um berries and stuff and I’m hearing pigs or animals or something

A funny thing is yeah I can totally see more on this stream so that’s grass very short what do these uh wait what you may survive well and prosper okay boy a point near zero added over four days left before monsters bring into appear well that’s great thanks for the uh

Thanks for the Heartfield warning there placing ground no well there’s two bits of grass I can actually see more from the stream that’s hilarious that’s three bits of grass wait that was gross medium I’m actually playing this on streamlabs because I can’t see it on my screen

Uh well the good news is they can make a fire fire starter now Twisted by a starter but I don’t think I’ve got I don’t think I’ve got any firewood um what is firewood yeah you need you need a pine log which we’ve got but I I mean we’re somewhere around there

Construction of a fire pit placing dry grass on the ground and then adding four firewood when the fire pit is completed ignite with the buzz thud or torch wow go stream labs there is the bear I the bear this is the bear I prevent for as far as PS Burn It Down uh

It is I literally cannot see a thing there’s grass medium there we go so really now we need now is a tree that I can see during the daylight and then we’ll be sorted and this won’t happen again we did start to get a little bit lighter now

I’m beginning to see things on my own screen think this is pine leaves I’m just going to stay in this little area I don’t wanna yeah there is a little bit of a learning curve to it and yeah yeah we had uthris um well that was the thing um actually Bradford

Um booster utris and Raptor all were playing it for a while and I jumped in at the on the last day oh and Jerry as well they all played it before and I jumped in on the last day and uh unfortunately I wanted to really get into this game uh yeah Raptors cave

Yeah uthbrush is really a monster of this and and that’s precisely why I want to get better at this game because really good Builder and me and him share a lot of qualities in that regard as in we both like to build and I would love

To to learn more about this game in order to build yeah I really got to play at the end but I didn’t get to find any of the like really the mechanics were making stuff mark so this is really a case of me learning and jumping in the deep end but

And I always was kind of like oh the grass medium there we go I always was a little bit concerned about the the beginning section which was you know making stuff and and surviving medium short grass well at least we’ve got some grass here that’s good

Yeah that’s right I need to I need to I want to play more of this and and get the building I would like to watch who would like me to build something what would you like me to build does anyone have kind of like a challenge that you would like to see me

Build like in this game like is is this something like I don’t know um A fire pit that is super challenging right now I fight a fire pit oh no way that’s like that’s above me I’m sorry that’s that’s way above me right now it’s getting daylight though I need to I need to be able to see in order to chop down a tree foreign

Uh um okay how do I make the firewood thing again so it was starter guide firewood ax and Pinewood okay so I can just go to so how do I do that so I guess it’s e pine log nope does that have to be in the right place oh yeah there you go

And now we need a fire starter Twisted Firestarter I almost need some storage now really do need those cattails um let’s drop the let’s drop the granite Stone we don’t need that yet um now what was the fire starter again okay uh grass and two sticks how do you pick one

Fire next time except do I need some wood on top of that pine leaves is there a pine tree underneath here somewhere I guess it’s not actually built up yet not like this one you know what it’s like you have to trim the bush otherwise it gets too big it becomes unmanageable

I mean look at this look I just couldn’t see anything uh but you know with a with an ax in my hand and uh just a little bit of pruning you know you don’t have to use an ax but just a sharp object will work but it’s it’s useful to to trim your

Bush there we go like that we’re starting to see whoops I see I trimmed that bush too far and uh That caused a few problems there but we can we can now we can now clearly get to wait what that is clearly a male ball And he is definitely ready to mate Oh no I’m not I’m not mansplaining because I’m I’m saying you know anyone can do this it’s not just uh it’s not just females Christy Trimming your Bush’s birth is for everyone Something to do that you can do for fun with your partner too That’s right rated E for everyone foreign doing this in some ways because all I’m going to do is chop this tree down because I don’t want it here did I just break my ax broke my app now and now I’m left with a pine tree thing well you know what

And we’ll make it yellow there we go We’re near the spawn that way but we need to find some cat tails and I don’t know where they are are they normally by water and I need to drop a bunch of this stuff This flax is absolutely useless too foreign ‘s purple oh look there’s some cattails Cooper’s Reed is that it is this the stuff Foreign I think that’s it Cattails yes I did the thing how many do I need I can’t remember how many was that I needed hand basket you need two of each I’ve got three all right we’re cat tails are honey we’re cattle balling now oh yeah Foreign Lots because you need four baskets that’s true we do need four baskets Foreign Everyone Good thing there’s no sharks Okay how many do I need if you cut with a knife they should grow back if you need food you can dig up their roots for food keep that in mind thanks Schwinn it’s it’s been as I say I was really rusty at this game I didn’t get to play it properly

So uh I appreciate all the input that you’re giving me to keep it nice and chilled out I’m starting to run along on food though um I don’t want to be swimming down there okay I think I’ve got enough now to make a bunch at least that’ll help why do I keep

We can make up some of this stuff Granite stones okay so we got so how do I place down a granite block that’s the part that I’m because we could actually make some stuff here we could actually make a house here if we combine this all together

There we go we can pick all this stuff up now um so we want to open how do I open that how do I open my hand basket wait what you have to break it with a pickaxe wait what oh I need to pickaxe how do I how can I make a pickaxe

Yeah I want to put a stone block not put one down yeah how do I how do I open my uh basket slot do I just press e and that’s the only way you can do it is that way okay we’re going to put the birch seeds in here because that’s useless

Punch air to get an ax pickaxe but where select the granite and look at the ground and then click nap select the granite and click nap actually what happened to all that that granite there’s a bunch of granite that was on the floor I dumped it down somewhere They’re just having a small room somewhere would be uh pretty good you can’t get pickaxe until you find Copper or Flint or any other material you can Flint foreign so how can I place down a block that’s that’s the Maybe maybe you have to pick up hang on I’ve got an idea

Do you have to place Granite Stone like multiple of it down um okay I don’t need to I don’t need food right now um really cat sounds now you give me cat sounds I feel like I’m running out of daylight again come on no there we go

I need to pick up multiple granite actually this one feels more complete well I might have enough now to make a I do okay okay we’ve got more basket basket power activates now we just need more more granite this is going to be the the more granite how can I place it down

Oh no I just threw it uh Schwinn do different stone tools Last Summer obsidian is the best yeah obsidian is the best I did read up on that um how much daylight have I got left see if you can break a granite block with your hands I don’t even know where

The granite is and it what I’m trying to do is know how to place down a block how do I place down a block a block of granite like this how do I place a Granite cobblestone you need a block okay so basically what I need to do then

Is I need to gather up all the blocks in one place is is that what you’re saying break the block you sure I can’t just make it the ground the Cobblestone from I make a block from cobblestone if I run around that’s the iron that’s copper there you go there’s Granite stones granite

Granite granite granite cross two tier two to Copper the break a chair better Mark that down here on the map copper and we’ll mark that orange because that’s what color copper is um if you’re ever curious how to craft hover over the thing and press h okay I didn’t not didn’t necessarily work

Clay forming yeah we’ve done that now we have to smelt it’s a quiet press metal tools you need to smelt copper and later on bronze you will need charcoal clay and copper nuggets craft a crucible through clay forming and fire it in a plate Kiln you can acquire charcoal through the process

Of charcoal burning before you begin also prepare and fire one or more tool molds you might want to start out with the pickaxe and a hammer mold once prepared Place The Crucible in the fire pit and then Place nuggets into the four Crucible slots and heat with charcoal

You can place any amount of or nuggets in the cruise ball 128 times 4 but the more oil you add the longer the smelling process will take it’s more efficient if you feel the slots evenly so this only you need charcoal so we need charcoal is the best source of fuel

Achieved high enough to smell ores charcoal requires a lot of firewood to produce and requires you to chop down a forest or two once you think you have enough fire with dig a pit your charcoal pit could be any dimension 11 by 11 blocks though two by two should

Be fine to start with fill your paper with a complete stacks of firewood and make sure you leave no empty blocks or your firewood will burn to Ash cover the field pit completely but leave it a single block in the center expose the air using dried grass and formal firewood

Build a fire pit on the center of the exposed block and light it quickly you have 30 in-game minutes cover it up with solid blocks to seal the pet if the pit begins smoking peacefully you will be rewarded with charcoal and less than an in-game day if

You hear burning sounds you should open up the pit and extinguish the bar you must have missed the spot and the pit was not airtight so you want okay so basically you want a three by three I feel like is the right size take whole big hole with firewood cover with that

Or coal what about Pete I mean we got this Pete is that high enough what does charcoal burn at oh 1300 okay so that’s a lot higher so that sounds like we need to be chopping down some wood okay well we have plenty of wood around us and um I’ve certainly been um

I just want to see what you guys are up to foreign you almost rate games on their learning curve I mean I tell you what you want a learning curve station is that that’s a pretty good one and what makes it worse about station is and this is part the reason

Why I haven’t played it in so long right I love stationers and I absolutely adore the game but I can’t keep up with the updates they update the game so much that by the time that I get used to doing something a particular way they’ll change it and I’ll be back to square one again

And I can’t keep up with the updates because most of the time I have to play it so much off screen so that then I haven’t a clue of what is happening or for me to stream the game it is really difficult I have to spend as much time

Like learning about the new updates as I do actually streaming the game which is just too much and not only that but then you have to experiment as well and it’s not there’s nothing wrong with the game at all I love stationers it’s just it’s just this too much too many up too

Many updates and I can’t keep up with them as as a streamer I can’t keep up with it but there is nothing wrong with the game at all I in fact I would encourage anyone that really likes um like science and um someone that wants to do a little

Bit of basic programming even to even do that but like there is so much in that game that you could learn oh look there they are I wish I could hit them you’re too far away come on get closer yeah Space Engineers is another one that I actually own

But I haven’t been able to um I’ve never played on my own I bought it so that I could play with a bunch of people and then they played it once or twice and I was messing about with it and I was like okay this is this is intense

And it’s another one like uh stationers as well but I know a lot of people find that fun as well Imperium I didn’t really like I don’t know it needs a lot of work that game needs a lot of work it just feels very clunky and period but

I get the premise behind it and I like it but I think herbal stationers and space engineers they’re definitely in that kind of like that realm of this is a Sandbox here is your here are your tools now go play and it’s like well what do I do first

Like how do I build this thing well you have to read this massive like you have to now learn everything that you can about the like science and physics and um gas Dynamics and right and it’s just like and Barrel trauma actually I would even say Bearer

Trauma is in that realm as well when you start getting into um when you start getting into um the rewiring of the sub as well um that is a that’s a big part of it too and that’s part of the reason why I’m not getting into it because

As they’ve explained to say Matt and gorilla funny in life which is why whilst he’s here it’s it’s too much for me after station is it kind of broke me a little bit so uh but Kerbal I think um could be fun could be fun to play at some point uh night Christy

Gaming degree needed no it’s not just a gaming degree you need a Physics degree you need um like spatial Sciences degrees you need like um what is it rocketry degrees I wish they got closer come on get close to me it’s really clever setup even has this

In-game Lobby a space station that is kind of its own survive it’s like a hub and when you choose an area to go to it seriously what game is that gorilla oh you know oh Space Engineers yeah come on get daylight I’m gonna run out of food soon

Um food is gonna be an issue soon just use a bit it makes it a day sure but then I’m using food okay it’s close enough come at me so one of the things I am actually running a mod on this um it stays running away he’s not running away

Can I can you access the thing from here no you can’t charcoal burning two by two by two blocks fill your pit with the complete stack of firewood and make sure you leave no empty blocks so your plywood will burn through Ash cover the build pit completely believe

It a single block in the center eggs in Center exposed to air down using dried grass and formal firewood build a fire pit in the center of the exposed block and light it it’s something weird yeah there is something weird going on why did that just take firewood away ah

Why why are you gonna be like this uh I just want to add that okay now crate fire pit dry grass yeah I know I was just working out how to put that back um it’s not letting me add any grass there’s gotta be a weird way of doing this

I am loving this saying add firewood 23 . it’s good enough it’s got 32 at the top there I don’t understand the charcoal bit this is uh there seems to be a fundamental issue unlike in the game yes I’m loving the game maybe it’s not liking let’s make it a complete Square block

So they realizes that there’s no gaps not that that should be a problem maybe remove the dirt block for now to see if the graphics UI better oh you thinking that that might be the issue no see it’s not um she says grass but it’s it’s only adding on the

Using the tripod build a fire pit in the center created by placing dry grass and then adding four firewood foreign maybe that’s just what it is adding full firewood maybe that’s all I’m we’re expecting it to make a kiln but it’s not making a kiln is it

We’re not supposed to be making a kiln and now I just freaking picked up some firewood There we go all right so we just I think I’m doing the right thing I think this is it I just have to put that down and then I have to put four Which of course I don’t have yet wrong way foreign Did I try Crouch yeah we’re not making a kiln so it’s just a fire pit so we just need the the four see look now we just need to add the four pieces of firewood there we go we got it Oh darn it some of the controls on this okay so basically I then have to like this and then cover it up here we go get ready is that Lit oh yeah like 26 minutes so that’s it I’m done it said wait for flame so yeah I know you’re good it’s it’s done

Now how how long do I have to wait for this foreign got the smoke coming out of there now 29 minutes nice I’ve got blocks all over the place and now I’ve got tons of wood more what is needed there we go look we got the Granite there now

Okay so now we’ve got the charcoal going now do we need to build a do we build it need to build anything oh you can actually open two at the same time oh that’s good I’m not gonna sleep it off if I got to build another um you remember you said about the

Nugget does that just go into the um Crucible but does that then have to be then poured into a iron ingot so do I need to make one of them you know like an Ingot thing you have a mold oh okay so it’s it’s only if you didn’t have this mold that

You would use it that and then you could smelt this down and something else okay I’m still not understanding the point in this Forge right now so the forge is absolutely pointless it’s just we’ve got it here for the fun funsies I mean this is definitely working

We’re skipping that the Ingot would do with a bunch of napping right I’ll need a forge eventually yeah I know I mean I get that um but right now we’ve got the crew Spore I got it and we’ve got tons of charcoal um well I think I’m going to call it here I

Think you know it’s 1 30 in the morning for me and uh yeah that just feels like a really good place to call it so uh how do I survive uh savingly world okay all right I’m enjoying it uh would I need to change some of the

Controls and stuff maybe I don’t know maybe I might need to do that but um yeah I’m actually enjoying it I knew I would it’s just a case of getting used to um now next time I log in it will be the same time because no one else is playing

So should be all right but yeah I’m I knew I’d enjoy this game look at look at the artwork that you can do on this I mean this this is actually in-game stuff this isn’t I I love that all the and I’ve seen the uthris like him chiseling out like individual lines

And and stuff like that craziness all the detail that he’s put on stuff like I’ve seen him do that so I mean I’m loving it I don’t know whether I could be that intricate with this stuff though I don’t know we’ll see we’ll see what I
