Worldpainter Timelapse – The continent of Ushea

Hey guys wiggleman here and welcome back to another world painter video today we are creating the amazing map you see right now called ushaya the first thing i always do when i do world painter maps is getting an idea of what i want to do and then creating a map like this one

And from there i put the map into world painter as an overlay and start shaping up the world the idea i had for ushaya was that i wanted to build a continent which is small enough for me to be able to populate it over time with buildings

But big enough to have a diversity of biomes landscapes and awesome places to build so in the north we’re going to have this glaciated mountainous fjords and nice nordic areas and we’re going to move towards like more of a flat um german kind of landscape i’m going to

Also have some more of a swampy uh landscape which is going to be pretty cool as well and then we’re moving towards mediterranean and all the way down to a desert so we’re going to have all the different biomes so we can build awesome kingdoms and stuff surrounding it Once i have shaped the terrain with all its mountains and fjords and lakes and all that stuff i start painting in the terrain And with all that in place i’ve gone ahead and added all of the different layers there are so many custom layers here and it’s all gonna make this place look absolutely stunning it’s a lot of colors here right now as well due to them and it’s looking pretty fancy in

The north as you can see we’re having this glaciated mountains and it’s looking very awesome you can see how kind of almost see how the glaciers have moved from like here and then diagonally over uh somewhat shaping the landscapes over time and here we’re gonna have some pine

Forest uh just some grass a little bit of snow but it’s in the summer so it’s not gonna have snow on the ground but some in the mountains and such and some header fields which is going to be quite awesome and then we’re moving down here uh this area here

My cursor is a little bit hard to see but inside this uh with this water here and stuff it’s going to be more of a temperate area uh there’s some mountains here there’s gonna be a little bit of snow in the tallest parts of the mountains but we’re gonna have this

Awesome rivers coming down from small rivers and just a lot of a lot of areas to build farms and luscious fields and stuff like that and over here we have this area which is looking uh like a swamp we have this beautiful uh banks of sand that’s accumulated over time kind of

What we have in denmark in poland and also in america’s and florida and stuff and it’s creating this really cool swampy area here so it’s going to be fun to build with that as well and then down here we have more of the mediterranean area you can see the color

Is more yellow the grass is going to be more yellow here we have forest using cypresses and we also have a lot of just drier grass regions then we have this mountains here where we kind of transition into the more temperate area and then we have this mountain range

Going across here separating the mediterranean area from the desert and the idea here is that uh the winds come from the east and then like this mountains here kind of stop the final bit a lot of the water is accumulated in or the rain is accumulated in the mountains here further east

But then the last drops of rain is stopped here meaning we have a little bit of a desert here but there’s of course a few droughts that will fall in the mountains and go down into the river so there’s going to be some lush rivers here as well

But mainly uh all the rainfall on the east side of this mountain range here uh but here we all just have sand plain old sand but there’s some drier forests in the mountain regions and around the river up north from there it’s still pretty far south we have islands which are

Volcanic there’s going to be like a mediterranean kind of temperature as well and we have a volcano here and you can kind of see how the tectonic plates have moved over time and then created these islands here so that’s pretty awesome as well and the last bit of detail is using the biomes

To alter the color of grass and bushes and stuff like that what we’re mainly doing is just setting one biome for one of the kingdoms or one of the areas of the map but we’re also kind of changing it a little bit so here in the north we

Have the tiger but i’ve gone in and added like planes i’ve also added swamp and different things just to alter the color of the grass just a little bit it’s going to look absolutely stunning in the end the same goes here for the temperate area where we have a little bit of

Forest mixed in with the planes and all that is going to do is just give some gradients and we have swamp here in this area and then over here we have savannah but i’ve added in a little bit of planes as well just to get some areas

Where the grass is a little bit lusher in the desert we have just desert uh apart from around the rivers where we actually have jungle because we’re gonna get a nice tropical kind of climate around the rivers and in the mountains we have the badlands uh savannah is also

Up on the island here and overall it’s gonna look pretty fantastic i think and with that i’m very happy to present to you ushaya i will not provide a download right now but maybe in the future when i have started my own projects on this place anyway guys i really do hope that
