Hello YouTube assumer here with another minecraft tutorial in this video I’m going to be showing you how to synchronize nether portals which may be common knowledge to a lot of you but have been getting requests on how to do this so I decided to make this tutorial video so the nether was originally Introduced as a way for the player to transport across long distances so for every block that you travel in the nether is equivalent to eight in the overworld so if we were to stand at 0 in the nether we’d be at 0 in the overworld 1 would be a 2 and B 16 etc etc now this only counts for the x and z coordinates and the y coordinate is the same in both the nether and the overworld so to synchronize your portals you are going to need the debugging screen if you Press f3 you can bring that up and you’re going to need to use the x and z coordinates on that and you also might need a calculator to do some multiplying and dividing as well now before we actually synchronize some polls we have to make one so when we build and ignite This one in the overworld that isn’t actually one in the nether yet it’s when we walk through it that it decides to try and make one in the nether so it’s not always going to be able to put it in the exact same position because this one here is 0 0 in the Overworld and in the nether that position may be taken so it’s going to try and generate one as close as possible so when we go through this one and the nether is just going to take a moment here to load we press f3 you see We’re not at 0 0 and it’s located a nearby position to place this nether board to win so because our nether portal in the nether isn’t at 0 0 like this one is in the overworld it means it’s going to search for the closest one which is the one that it generated so Let’s say we want to go four blocks away from where this is in the nether which is 32 in the overworld because we multiplied that by 8 if we were to build a pool here this one is going to take us to the nearest pool they can find which Is the one that we’ve already generated in the nether so because this one isn’t it zero zero when we go back through it it’s going to take us to that ball that we’ve most recently built so these are completely out of sync and the way that We synchronize them is to build them the nether portals in the correct position in the nether so if we to go through this one again and we want to build one at zero zero in the nether I’ve already marked out that location here so if we go over Here and press F free you can see we are at zero zero so let’s create another portal here and we’re also going to create another portal at X 4 which is the equivalent of the one that we built at 32 so if we come over here till we Are a coordinate four like that and build another nether portal then what we’re going to do is ignite both of these and we’re going to remove our original nether portal because we don’t want to use that anymore so when we go through this one it’s going to take us To zero zero in the overworld as you can see that’s where we are let’s go back through here it’s taking us to the same one in the nether and when we go through to this one which is the equivalent of four in the nether it takes us to 32 in The overworld so the trick we’re synchronizing nether portals is to already have one built in the opposite dimension when you build and use one in the dimension that you’re in so right now we’re in the overworld and I’ve already built one in the nether and I Build it at X 15 and that when you multiply it by eight is 120 so here we are X 120 and I haven’t used these nether portals yet them because we’re using them for the first time when we go through it’s going to find the correct One in the Never you can see we’re at X 15 and then it’s going to take us back to X 120 in the overworld so this is a very simplified version of doing this because of course I’m using a test world and we’ve only really used one Coordinate when doing this but the trick is so the trick is to divide the coordinates by eight when you’re in the overworld so 120 divided by eight is 15 and in the nether you do the opposite thing you multiply the coordinates that you’re on so we’ve only used the x axis In this example but you would use the z axis as well and then you would find the location that’s equivalent to where you’re building your portal in the overworld or the nether and then once you’ve built both of them you go through the portals and they will synchronize so That is really all there is to it and the only other piece of valuable information I think I can offer up is that if you have some restrictions like I have had here they don’t technically need to be in the exact same position as they are in the Overworld so some of these portals around here are in a relatively similar position and often they’ll synchronized sometimes you might have trouble I had trouble getting these two to synchronize because they were close to each other but they weren’t in the exact same place in the nether as They were in the overworld so if you can try and get them in the exact same position and then they should always synchronize up but other than that that is it for this tutorial I hope you found it useful so thank you for watching and I will catch you next time Video Information
