Welcome back to the dragon game works Channel I’m your host dragon and today we’re diving into that topic that many of you have been curious about the differences between being on a small content creator Minecraft SMP and the legendary hermitcraft so grab your pickaxes and let’s get Started with episode one in this series of small content creator s p advice [Applause] hey there fellow Minecrafters before we dive into the details let’s address the elephant in the room so Zuma from hermitcraft always says if you want to be on hermitcraft then you should go away and make your own And it’s great advice and it’s one that we live by quite often in unortho blocks however small smps can never be hermitcraft and they should actually be doing their own thing so while that was well-meaning advice the reality is when you’re doing a small content creator server you should be striving to do Something that is unique and special to the people that are on that server and your audience that’s there and precisely that is what we are going to explore today is the differences between being on a small content creator server and a larger one like say hermitcraft so what are the key differences between A small content creator server and a larger content creator server and for this series I’m going to use unauthor blocks as an example of a small content creator server because it’s the server that I’ve been playing on for the last couple of years and been doing content Creation on so it’s the one that I know very very well and also you’ll see me regularly use hermitcraft as well I have no association with hermitcraft uh other than just being a pure fan but it is one of the biggest and most well known so It’s a great one to do a comparison when looking at larger servers versus the smaller ones but let’s break down what the differences are the first and most obvious difference is the size and scale hermitcraft boasts a massive community and they have built up a vast amount of Experience over many many years building their content while smaller s PS like on overbox tend to have a much more tight-knit Community where you have a lot less experienced content creators all coming at it from slightly different levels of experience audience as they come into doing their content creation Some will have made some videos before some this will be the first videos they’ve ever made and they are learning the craft as they are going along so you can’t expect people to run before they walk and you can’t expect to build your first videos and even the videos in your First several seasons on an s p and be anywhere near the sort of level that something on a larger s p can produce this difference alone actually sets the stage for a quite distinct experiences between playing on a larger SMP and playing on a smaller s p but here’s the Thing don’t compare yourself if you’re on a small content creator SMP to that of being in the big leagues yes we all dream of being as big as hermitcraft or dream or Empires and reaching those Gideon Heights where we are making a lot of money from our YouTube videos and we Get to play Minecraft 24 7 throughout the rest of our lives and that’s it that would be absolutely glorious for many of us but that in reality is not where most of us are right now and what you need to focus on is where you are right now Maybe one day you get that maybe you don’t but you need to focus on having the best experience you can right now and for that reason every s p needs to make sure that it has its own unique charm and appeal yes be inspired by these bigger service it’s great to have That inspiration they are the inspiration why a lot of us do what we do but you need to make sure that you whilst you are being inspired that you are also actually making something that is Uniquely Yours and yours and your communities focus on making your small SMP the best it can be now let’s talk about commitment this is one of those things that people often get wrong and it can lead to burnout very very quickly content creators on large smps often have the luxury of dead locating themselves full time to doing Minecraft And their videos and often will also have a team of talented individuals supporting them whether they’ll be doing their subtitling from or doing their video editing or maybe they have a community building builds in the background which they will then use on their videos itself giving them ideas and inspiring them forwards On the other hand content creators and smaller smps are often part-time hobbyists we have to juggle Minecraft with jobs or school or University or responsibilities with the family this isn’t normally our main income at least not to begin with I mean many years down the line some as it may become that way But for a lot of us it isn’t and so we don’t have that time nor do we have the level of teams supporting us so don’t expect to produce the scale of content that you know in terms of quality and in quantity that you see being kicked out On much larger s PS when you are already a sort of only doing this as a sort of part-time hobby when you can grab a few hours in the evening through the week you are never going to be able to produce that many and to be honest for These larger s PS This is where a lot of them also started they started in the same place where you are they started off small and if you’re looking at their current content and saying I should be as good as that you’re not going to be straight away It’s going to take time and it’s going to take a long time it’s not a quick process not just building up the community but also getting big enough to be able to have a team getting big enough so that you can actually spend the time on it so don’t break it back Trying to produce as much content or reach the same level of quality as the larger smps you will only burn out and what’s more important is that you will lose the joy that brought you to Minecraft in the first place and this is what should be really driving you the Fact that you’re doing this because you enjoy Minecraft if you were doing this just purely to make money on YouTube I can tell you Minecraft is not the place to be the people who have actually made it have already done it if you are going to make it work in Minecraft You actually really have to love Minecraft and if you go and burn yourself on it out on it then you’re not going to want to build the content in the long run so remember it’s okay to take it at your own pace and enjoy the journey besides being on a small content creator S p is about learning to hone your craft and I don’t just mean the craft in Minecraft I actually mean the craft in actually making videos working with your community being a part of a content creator at SMP and it is equally important to savor the experience of Doing that in fact if you enjoy like I do the experience of learning new techniques new ideas learning to grow and develop then you’ll find that you’ll have a far greater time with it enjoyment should always come first in this and growth will naturally then follow afterwards right let’s debunk a common Misconception success doesn’t solely mean having millions of subscribers or becoming an internet sensation yes we would all like that but it is actually defined by you you define what success looks like for you and if that is what success is for you then good luck I hope You get there it is not easy it is a very long path and that may be part of what maybe success is but also have a look at what else success could be and success in a small s p could be as simple as having a good time sharing the Fun that you have with the incredible people that are on the same server you are it is like I say it’s almost a cliche it’s not uh the goal it’s the friends you make along the way it’s the experiences it’s what you gain along the Way when you look back are you gonna be looking back with fond memories of all the hours that you spent slaving away or you’re going to look back with happiness on all the fun you had with the people on the server that you’re with remember Being a part of an s p where the content creator driven or not is about having a blast about while expressing your creativity it’s about striking that perfect balance between collaboration and individual Pursuits now you may be wandering dragon is this the end of the line this is all the advice you’ve got To give us absolutely not this is just the beginning this series will have several planned videos offering advice on navigating the world of small smps mainly drawn upon my own experience from doing the last three seasons of the Norfolk blocks but also I’ll look at other servers look at what other smaller S PS are doing as well as looking at what some of the bigger S PS are doing and looking at those differences and looking at how things are different don’t forget that the larger s PS you see today grow up in a very different culture when there wasn’t a lot of Content creator smps around compared to now if you are starting a content creator s p now you’re in a very crowded Pond doesn’t mean you can’t make it work and it doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with it but don’t just think because this was the path that the larger ones Took that this is the same path that we should be following as smaller content creator servers yes there is a lot we can learn from them there is a lot what we can learn from the larger s PS but we’ve got to remember that being in a Small s p is a very unique experience and we have to make it our own and not just trying to do what someone else has done already as we go through the series we’ll cover topics like building a supportive Community promoting collaboration and even exploring creative ways to stand Out and this is going to be something we’re going to explore together because I’m still learning this path I’m not coming to you guys saying I know it all I don’t I’m here to learn as well and look into ways in which we can improve Things and so I want to do this as a community together that we can learn more about what it means to be on small content creator smps so that we can make our content stand out and that we can find our place in this world so stay tuned hit that notification Bell and Join me on this adventure of learning and growing together before we wrap up let’s not forget the golden rule of YouTube if you’ve enjoyed this video and family advice helpful don’t forget to give it a thumbs up and subscribe to the dragon Gameworks Channel your
