Hello everyone my name is pixel riffs welcome to minecraft 1.17 and the hardcore survival guide this is going to be a brand new series kind of like the minecraft survival guide but a little bit faster and in hardcore so we’re going to name this world hardcore survival guide we’re not going to do Anything else with the settings of course we have cheats locked off because we’re in hardcore and we’re just going to create a new world and jump right into it i want to get a bit of a faster start with this series than we got with the minecraft survival guide i’m going To be showing you guys a little bit of the kind of tutorial aspect still but most of what i’m going to do assumes that you already know the basics of minecraft you’ve either watched a bit of survival guide already or you’ve been playing minecraft for a little while and you understand What our objectives are here the first objective of course being to gather wood we need to get ourselves a crafting table and a couple of basic tools and already i’m looking around for sheep because the first lesson i’m going to oh there’s one it’s walking right into my peripheral vision the first Lesson i’m gonna give you guys is that you should not try and survive the first night surviving a night kind of implies that you are just gonna let the night fall and honestly it is a lot easier to just get yourself a bed and sleep through the night anyway so I’m just going to dig down a little bit here grab myself some stone which should be a few blocks underneath the surface and it’s undecided of course it is all right looks like we’ve got stone underneath that though so i’m going to grab a few blocks of stone here So that we can pillar back up with the dirt and all we should need to do is get three blocks of cobblestone to craft our first stone pick and then we can throw the wooden one away and carry on with the rest of the series there we go we got a stone pickaxe Nice and easy should just be able to dig into the side of one of these nearby hills to get a little bit more stone there we go that was a little bit easier than digging down wasn’t it and we’re going to grab the rest of the Stone that we need for some tools and a furnace with this looks like we’ve got some coal oil already as well that’s really handy that it’s right here so we’ll need a little bit of that to cook some food because of course on hard starvation is Still a factor and being locked on hard hardcore means that if you starve to death then that’s it for good so we’re gonna make a furnace we’re probably going to grab a little bit more cobblestone to make myself an axe and we’re going to use the axe as The primary weapon to start off with here because axes in the early game are actually kind of op they deal 9 attack damage which is much harder hitting than a stone sword they’re going to take a little bit of extra durability because of you know not being the primary tool Intended for attacking stuff with but that is one sheep down now we just need to find two more sheep and maybe that wolf over there has killed a couple of them but in the process of finding these sheep we’re also going to gather a little bit more wood Gathering a bit of wood from these trees is only really important because we need to take a decent amount of wood caving with us just in case we need to make torches as we go or we end up getting lost somewhere and need to make a crafting table or anything like that All of that stuff is going to be kind of covered by oh hello all right okay uh quick diversion we’re going to get some surface iron real fast because the iron in this little section is nice and accessible and we’re going to grab as much iron as we can before we go legit Caving but it looks like this isn’t even a cave it’s just a little gully in the earth that’s kind of perfect for what we need i’m trying not to take unnecessary damage here but it’s not like this is half-hearted hardcore or anything it doesn’t matter if i take a bit of full Damage i can still heal my health up and move on hello foxes let’s see if we can grab some sweet berries from around here as well if we want a little bit of extra food and i’m already seeing a sheep over here for a start oh we got two more okay Great that’s perfect for what we need because now we have enough materials to make a bed and we can skip the night without the need to build a shelter we’re gonna run away from our spawn point here and go out and find some place that i actually want to build Because while i love spruce wood i don’t really like building in a tiger biome the grass is kind of pale and it’s a little bit of a dull biome to build in in my opinion so first things first we have ourselves a nice little chest here that’s a little Bit of extra iron some gold and a little bit of flint nothing too major we don’t have any gold armor that we could immediately go to the nether with but we do have a block of gold right here so if i smelt up some of the iron Or even convert these iron nuggets into iron ingots then we should be able to make ourselves an iron pickaxe with that and we’ll be able to mine this gold block you couldn’t mine it with stone or with wood of course but it looks like we’ll be able to mine ourselves a gold Block and have a nice tasty amount of gold to take with us to the nether unfortunately this portal doesn’t seem to have spawned a second gold block sometimes they have two gold blocks up there in the portal frame if you’re lucky but in this case we’re going to leave this portal behind Anyway not going to worry too much about it and we’ve just got a block of gold now already the early stages of a minecraft world are all about reacting to your environment and being prepared for anything preparation is the key especially in hardcore because one wrong move could cost you the world So i’m going to be a little bit careful as i exit the tiger here i’m just going to run in basically any direction where i don’t see a large kind of line of trees and i’m thinking this direction might be a good way to go i’m keeping an ear out for lava pools And keeping an eye out for any more pits that i could potentially fall into as we run around here but now i’ve got a little bit of food there were some sweet berries back there and i’m sure we can find some more i don’t need to worry too much about Sources of food it looks like we’re coming out into a swamp as well so potentially we could be seeing a witch hut around here somewhere not too bothered about that there we go dark oak forest over there fantastic find i really like working with dark oak wood Lately so i’ll see what we can grab from that and it looks like there are a couple of surface caves around here as well so we’ll peek into those but basically from now on anytime it gets close to being dark and dangerous we can just sleep for the night in this bed And not worry too much about it and on the way i’m on the lookout for some more surface iron which thankfully the game still has in plentiful supply not going to worry too much about using my iron pickaxe for this because ultimately it’s just going to mean we can harvest stuff faster and Move on nice and quickly just so we have enough wool for a backup bed and a little bit of extra food too i’m going to take care of the sheep here and the pigs while we ignore them in late game are actually a pretty good source of food Right now if you don’t find cows immediately pork chops offer the same amount of food restoration as cooked beef so it’s actually kind of worth killing any pigs that you come across and of course with them being part of the passive mob cap around here you’ll get other mobs starting to spawn anyway I’m going to take a quick pause here to cook up some food because the mutton and the pork chops are currently looking kind of tasty and i need to restore my hunger so we’re going to make a smoker just to smelt some of this stuff up a little bit quicker we’re going to Gather the sugarcane from around here so that i’ve got summer to regrow wherever i decide to build my base and basically what we’re looking for right now is a few resources that we can gather along the way the kind of stuff that’s going to be essential to our journey and Really useful supplies to bring with us in case we can’t farm them at our eventual base location but i’m also potentially looking for a village because villages can be a really easy shortcut to getting some early game tools and armor on the go and if you’re looking to get diamonds in Perpetuity for the foreseeable future it’s always a good option to go and find a village there we go i just cooked the mutton it was a nice round number to get hold of eight cooked mutton and i think i’ll probably take out a couple more pigs On the way out of here and we’ll see if we can get some more coal or maybe make ourselves some charcoal so that we can have a nice easy supply of food we’ve also got some cows over here gonna take every opportunity i can to get some early leather for an enchanting setup Just in case we don’t end up finding a village now since we’re in hardcore i’m not certain what commands are enabled but i think i can still do slash seed to show you all the seed for this world and you can use that to look it up in any Kind of map viewer or if you want to play along with me in hardcore in this series then we can uh probably match up and i can show you some of the coordinates of places that i end up going to looking at this roof forest obviously You need to make sure that you don’t end up in dark spots where mobs could spawn but most of this is looking okay there’s a couple of dark spaces what i really want to do is run through here find a place i can get up into the forest canopy And that’s where i can take a look around i can also gather some dark oak saplings if i want to bring those with me to eventually grow some stuff looks like there might be a clearing over here maybe a plane’s biome or something like that we can put our bed down basically Anywhere right now which means potentially we can find a spot to nap up here in the canopy where it’s going to be safer no mobs are going to spawn on these leaves because they’re transparent blocks so nice and easy to get some rest up here as the sun goes down on the horizon All right looks like we’re using this tree as our first campsite there we go sweet dreams everyone and when we wake up in the morning we shouldn’t have to worry too much about mobs at all looks like that planes biome over there is a little bit small but i think we could Make it work for the time being i just want to find a couple of good places where we can throw down a chest or to have some temporary storage set up and think about going caving all right i got myself four dark oak saplings as well so i’ve got plenty of Dark oak available and i’m thinking we just need to find a nice little lake like this to jump down from the trees without taking any unnecessary damage there we go all right we’re out onto the plains and we’re probably going to find someplace around here like i said that we can set up A nice easy outpost to go caving from there’s looks like maybe there’s another plane’s biome over there there’s a couple of other things that we can take a look out for not seeing any sign of a village yet but you never know if we can find one of Those on a nearby plains or if we can find another biome that’s likely to have a village the tiger might have had one but there might also be a savannah or a desert or snowplanes out here that might have a village handy oh this is cool looks like we’re coming up on a Flower forest well actually i kind of want to settle down somewhere near a flower forest so that we can potentially find easy access to beehives looks like it’s got a birch forest and a swamp over here as well so that’s once again more chances for beehive access i wonder If there’s a witch hut in this swamp anywhere i’m looking around but i can’t see one i do see another ruined nether portal over here on the horizon though so i’m gonna take my opportunity to scavenge what resources i can from that and it looks like there’s a few more cows Around here that i can take out on the way not seeing any easy gold blocks unless it’s on the opposite side nope looks like we didn’t get one this time around wonder what’s in the chest oh an unbreaking three gold chest plate even a little bit of obsidian as well which i’ll take With me just for the advancement and the fire charge can help us light some stuff if we need it to keeping an eye on that lava just to make sure i don’t end up falling in i’ve got the crouch button on speed dial as always but yeah i like This location around here i think the flower forest is a good find and we can use that to get all kinds of dyes and various things throughout the rest of the series one of my objectives for this series is something i’ve been thinking about mainly i want to do the survival guide Style format but without trying to over explain things too much because i think you guys get the idea at this point but i think one of the other things i want to do is maybe work on a bit more building stuff i want to do some base building in various different biomes explore A few different build styles and use a creative mode test world as a way to expand our building repertoire a little bit what do i espy in the distance though so close to this actually really quite beautiful arrangement of hills here there is a village over there in the Distance and that’s the jackpot that is what we want right now so i’m gonna head over to the village and it looks like this will be a perfect place to set up our base and oh my gosh all right i’ve been distracted from the village by an incredible find over here what is This ladies and gentlemen is it a zombie spawn i think it’s oh it’s a zombie spawner i would have been so happy if that was skeletons zombies ain’t bad though and what an incredible find underneath this overhang in the flower forest with these dark spots all around it we have Our first spawner exposed to the open air that is wild i love this seed already oh my goodness all right coordinates for this 129 619 knock yourselves out ladies and gentlemen what do we have in the chest we got a ton of iron our first redstone dust a decent amount of Gunpowder and a saddle if we want to go saddle a horse and oh we got a name tag in here as well very nice nothing too special about all of this loot but to be honest i think just finding the dungeon here is treasure unto itself and it looks Like the villagers are already milling around in the distance we’ve got a natural uh stone generator there as well we can maybe do something with that a little bit later but let’s hop out from here we’ll be back to that dungeon i think in future let’s go and See what this village has to offer well first thing it has to offer is an active blacksmith this guy is a weaponsmith which is perfect for our needs and inside of here we have three to three diamonds what okay i i promise you you saw me load this world Up i have not scouted this seed but already we have three diamonds this is absolutely wild okay all right let’s uh let’s let’s throw down here and let’s discuss our options because i’m moving in with this guy he is our he is our best friend right now And yeah i need to get a chest together so i can sort out my inventory into something a little bit more reasonable here so let’s throw everything we’ve got into this chest and have a good sort through we got some food there we got some leather we have Diamonds and precious materials that we can throw in over here i’m not going to wear the gold chest plate yet we might save that for a bit later but i think a helmet or boots is going to be preferable when we eventually go to the nether we can throw A bed down basically anywhere we like the villagers are going to nick it but we can throw them out of the bed if we need to and uh our friend has just wandered in to check on us how lovely of him well this is already an incredible start To this seed this is my dream start you could not ask for more right now there’s even a backup iron pickaxe in here for us naturally your instinct might be to turn these diamonds into a diamond pickaxe but we’re going to keep hold of them for now we don’t need to rush Into stuff like that one thing i am going to do because i hear lava bubbling below me is get hold of a bucket and grab a bucket of water because one thing i do not want to do right now oh of course it’s it’s from the it’s From the blacksmith of course i was worried about there being a lava lake directly under this but of course the blacksmith is going to have the lava sources of his own well i think we should be okay at leaving those there for now we can always use them as Some furnace fuel if we want to smelt some stuff up there are already bees there is already a gathering of villages and there’s already an iron golem here a lot of people like to kill iron golems it’s a very simple trick all you need to do Is bash an iron golem make sure you get into an area that’s fairly flat like this where there isn’t an area that the iron golem could get the height advantage on you pillar up three blocks and then just hit it on the head doing crits jumping with an x until the iron golem Dies unfortunately that will ruin your reputation with the village because if they see you kill an iron golem that’s a massive dent in your reputation and if you want to trade with these guys i recommend not killing the golem if you’re on a speed run or something And you need iron quickly fair enough but we just got a ton of iron from that blacksmith chest not to mention three diamonds i think we’re going to be pretty good regardless so let’s take a look at the population of the village right now we’ve already got a toolsmith which Means there’s a smithing table around here somewhere our friend the weaponsmith is right there and a lot of the other villagers look unemployed there is definitely a composter out here so a farmer villager is likely around yes there he is and he’s trading potatoes and bread that’s wonderful news I think the first thing we want to do around here is get set up with a fletcher because fletcher’s have probably the easiest trade that you’ll find in all of minecraft all a fletcher wants to do is trade you sticks for emeralds so they will buy sticks off you in exchange for emeralds And if we can end up maybe zombifying and curing one of them you can end up trading one stick per emerald later on it really does get kind of ridiculous so in the meantime i think we’re gonna make this village our base and settle down with a few fletchers Trade up for emeralds and then start buying weapons and armor from some of the villagers here the mechanics are here we may as well take advantage of them i feel a little bit bad about taking over the blacksmith’s house so i’m going to sleep under the stars For tonight once again you don’t really need a shelter in order to skip through the night in minecraft all you need to do is get yourself a bed and right click it when the stars start to come out so here we are in this village next to a flower forest with beehives literally In the village why are the beehives important you might ask well those are going to be essential for some of the 117 mechanics i would like to explore like copper copper is a new block that’s been added to the game it’s really quite cool to build with and it Ages over time meaning the block itself actually starts to erode and weather it changes color and it gets this wonderful kind of pattern to it which hopefully will be able to demonstrate there is even some copper over there in the side of the mountain that i can see although it’s Right next to the lava source so yeah we’re going to have to get that a little bit carefully or find a nearby cave but in order to stop copper from aging or to kind of halt it in its aging process you need honeycomb from beehives the Idea is that you wax copper and the bees help you gather the wax that you need to make sure the copper does not decay anymore so we’re going to be doing a little bit more of that later in this series and i’m really going to use this series to explore mechanics from 1.17 and do a bunch of cool stuff in minecraft in general but from the perspective of a hardcore world so now we’ve found this village what are our objectives well first of all i want to go back out to this tiger and grab some spruce saplings from the trees because spruce trees When you grow them in a two by two formation are probably the best source of wood in bulk in minecraft personally i i think at least the dark oak saplings can also provide pretty decent sized trees but spruce saplings or jungle saplings will allow you to grow Two by two trees and they provide a really nice amount of return on your investment that you get a ton of wood from them and you also get a ton of saplings out of the bargain as well whereas jungle trees i believe have a lower sapling drop rate Than the other trees do now that we’ve got four spruce saplings i’m going to come up here to this relatively unoccupied area above the village we’re going to plant those in a two by two with as few blocks as as possible around as few grass Blocks as possible as well just so we uh don’t end up obstructing the growth of the spruce saplings there and then we’re going to run back down here because i’m fairly certain i left the bones that were in this spawner chest in there and i’m probably going to need a few of Those to grow these trees artificially for the moment yeah we left three bones in here so that’s nine bone meal for us hopefully that should be enough to grow these trees sometimes it can take a little bit more than that and sometimes they just get stubborn and Don’t want to grow at all but then you can leave the trees to grow naturally let’s see how many bone meal it takes we’ll do one two three four five there we go okay we’ve got a massive spruce tree out of the bargain and of course it decorates the ground Around here with pods i’m gonna make myself an iron x because i have a feeling i will need that to chop this tree down unless this guy’s selling me one okay let me quickly raid the other village houses to see if we have any emeralds in here Naturally the more you play around with villagers the more likely you are to recognize which of these village houses have chests in and unfortunately it looks like very few of these ones do which means we’re gonna have to resort to somewhat desperate measures if i had a hoe i’d be Using the hoe to break down these hay bales but in the meantime we should just be able to break down four or five break those down for wheat we could also use that for a little bit of easy food oh no there’s a zombie here hello what’s the zombie doing here that Indicates there’s a dark spot or a cave nearby and that’s looking like this one over here yep there’s a cave that we need to probably block off somewhat temporarily we’ll just break down and use some of our spruce wood for that because yep teaming with zombies it is all right Well hopefully this should prevent them from getting any further up here i’ll just leave another layer along this just to make sure actually we’re going to need a touch more wheat than this we want to trade with a farmer three times so that we can get three emeralds that should hopefully be enough And we need to break and replace this guy’s composter a couple of times so his trades will cycle and he’s no longer going to be trading potatoes instead he should hopefully have a wheat trade let’s throw this down in the middle of the village one of the locals should hopefully Pair to the workstation in a second but they don’t tend to adopt jobs when they’re having this afternoon meeting it’s only when they’ve finished chatting with each other that they really start to focus on the job sites again yep there we go we got a farmer nice and Easy let’s see if he has the wheat trade he does and we get three emeralds from him what a deal and now one of these guys the tool smith is trading me a hoe which might be useful for breaking down some leaves a little bit later but the weaponsmith Is now trading me there we go iron axes don’t need to use my iron for it after all and we’ve started to rank up the weaponsmith we’ve locked in his profession so hopefully eventually he’ll be trading me things like diamonds swords and axes we might as well use up The rest of the stone axes durability before we start digging into the iron one it’s really not going to be that much faster to chop trees right away and the main thing is that we gather all of this spruce wood up so that we can use it as a utility wood Either for ourselves or more likely right now for a stick trade with a fletcher and that’s the tree taken down i am going to hover around here for a second or two so i can collect saplings and replant those in a two by two we won’t Bother wasting any more bone meal on it we’ll just leave this out here to grow but as long as we get four saplings back from this tree then we’ll be able to regrow the spruce renewably and that should be the end of that our next port of call is to get hold of Two flint because two flint is what’s required for a fletching table two flint and four wood so i’m looking around for handy patches of gravel there’s most likely going to be plenty available in this river you know what i don’t even need it we got four flint from the nether portal earlier Which means we can make two fletchers i recommend making at least two to begin with because honestly just one fletcher is going to run out of his stick trade pretty fast so i think it’s going to be kind of useful to have more than one available to us let’s dash in here real Quick use the crafting table and to make these fletchers nice and easily accessible we’re going to dump them in the center of the village right here so that they’re always around the meeting spot in the village and we’ll always be able to get hold of them If we need them so that’s one fletcher he’s trading arrows right now so we’re gonna break his workstation and reset it another villager who’s unemployed might come along to fill the gap if you notice a villager wandering towards these workstations from a distance then he’s probably paired with the Workstation and is going to become a fletcher there he is here’s our candidate look at you all right there we go and yes he’s got the stick trade okay so what we want to do is break these down of course we’ll make as many sticks as we want to With the recipe book and if you press the space bar it will refill that trading spot with more of the resources you just traded so that’s a really neat shortcut to trade through these a little bit faster so all we need to do is make a few more stacks of sticks Trade a few more times like so and hopefully within a few trades he should start to reduce his prices by one or two so he can save a little bit on materials trade him 31 sticks instead of 32 and so forth he’s opened up a couple More trades we can buy ourselves a bow which is good because i don’t have one of those yet and we’re keeping the rest of the emeralds for trades with the blacksmith professions like the weaponsmith up here the toolsmith that we saw and i believe there was a house over there That had a blast furnace where an armorer is probably working now right now i would be fine spending all of my emeralds on iron axes from this guy we could also trade him a little bit of coal if we find it but i am more interested in seeing what the Tool smith has to offer because eventually he’s going to be able to trade us diamond pickaxes and we don’t even need to go mining for them the trick now is figuring out where the tool smith lives because we saw him earlier during a village meeting but i Yeah i have a feeling this is going to be the house yeah it’s such a spartan house he doesn’t really have a whole lot else in here but he is gonna trade us a couple of stone hoes and probably a stone shovel as well because I don’t have one of those right now i’m gonna take the rest of the hose though to be honest so that’s a lot of emeralds we just traded away to this guy and he’s not ready to upgrade yet but the hoes are going to allow us to Take down leaves from trees a little bit faster and since our spruce tree up here has now grown and has a ton more leaves on it we can now use this to our advantage in collecting a few more saplings more quickly from the top of the tree unfortunately a stone hoe isn’t quite Enough to break the leaves instantly but an iron hoe or better should be able to break leaves pretty much instantly and once you get enchantments on a hoe if you decide to enchant one a little bit later you’ll find this is so fast to clear out all of these leaves And get some easy saplings if you want to guarantee you get the saplings and then run away and leave the rest of the leaves to despawn then breaking a few of the hoe seems like a logical thing to do and in the meantime we’re getting rid of all of those fairly useless trades From the weaponsmith and the toolsmith so that they can trade us something a little bit better now that we’ve got a handful more spruce saplings we can just keep planting them here and grow three times the amount of trees or more judging by the amount of leaves That we’ve got falling down on us right here and that is really what we’re going to be doing we’re going to be looping this trade a few more times crafting all of this into sticks and trading it with the fletcher to get ourselves a ton of emeralds And then my friends we get started on librarians we’ve got two fletchers here now this one is our apprentice fletcher who’s already traded with us a couple of times we’ve just got to trade with him once he should be able to wander over and reset his trades at some point but I think he should start offering us discounts now yes there we go and i believe we saw another fletcher lurking around here somewhere he’s over here by the tree all right looks like we need to reset his trades because he is currently not trading us any sticks with another emerald we can get This tool smith out of the novice phase and into apprentice level where he’s going to start asking for iron and this is always the roadblock with the blacksmith professions it feels like you don’t want to trade them iron right away and the only alternative is buying a very expensive bell that’s otherwise Going to be relatively useless to you so i think sooner or later we will have to do a caving run and acquire a decent amount of iron but what i would really like to do first is get hold of fortune from a librarian so that we can potentially Increase our stores of iron and you know what even though this guy isn’t giving me the stick trade i’m actually going to lock him in and buy some arrows from him because until we get infinity on a bow arrows are going to be in short supply the sun is setting once again we’re Gonna sleep up here next to the tree farm but look at all we’ve accomplished so far i think this has been a really solid start to the series and we are gonna wrap up the episode in just a second a couple more things i will suggest though first of all Make yourself a nice easy accessible dump chest over here by the tree farm and that’s going to have all of the rubbishy stone tools and stuff that you don’t really want right now but might come in handy if you need them in a pinch over here at the tree Farm we’re also keeping that stone shovel on us as well next thing i’m going to suggest and this is something that i suggest doing earlier than this but we got a little bit lucky with our start here is to craft yourself a shield you can press f to swap that directly into the Offhand from the crafting table now which is a really nice quality of life change and once you have a shield you can basically defend yourself from damage in a pinch skeleton arrows can ricochet harmlessly off the shield you can deflect a couple of melee hits and then Run if you need to shields are pretty much essential for the early game in hardcore if you don’t have a shield then you’re putting yourself at unnecessary risk but i think this has been a fantastic start to the series i’m really looking forward to getting to grips with A few more villager trades here but i think that is going to be it for the first episode of the hardcore survival guide i do hope you’ve enjoyed a look at hardcore and a really really nice start to this world play along with the seed if you want i’ll leave the seed In the description as well so it’s nice and easy for you to copy and paste but in the meantime my name has been pixarious please leave a like on this video if you enjoyed it it’d be great to see some support for this brand new series on the channel And i will see you guys soon take care bye for now You Video Information
