Most of you watching this probably know petrified Oaks Labs as these weird items in creative mode that you can’t get in survival they look just like Oak slabs so why do they exist back in October 2009 Notch hinted at adding slabs to the game in a blog post where he showed off A dirt slab but when he finally added the first slab into the game it was a stone slab this was the only slab in the game until beta 1.3 when sandstone and wooden slabs were added but these slabs were just coded as retextured stone slabs which meant they were broken with A pickaxe fireproof and they had stronger blast resistance than normal blocks this worked out fine until 1.3 when slabs were added for the four different types of wood planks at the time at this point it was decided that wooden slabs should all burn and be collected with an ax instead of a Pickaxe but instead of replacing the existing wooden slabs Mojang renamed them to petrified Oak slabs and since I started my world right before this update I had crafted a whole bunch of them and so 10 years later I still have Stacks and stacks of them you have to Admit mining wooden slabs of the pickaxe is pretty cursed Video Information
