ZennsWorld – Secret Base Entrance (Piston Elevator) For Java Edition | Minecraft Redstone Engineering Tutorial

What’s up guys welcome back to redstone engineering this video is going to go over how to make your own secret base entrance one that is completely concealed by the ground like this and that pulls directly out of the ground with the only trace being the button or the way to activate it

Through the surface so it’ll pull out of the ground directly like this and then you can take this as far down as you would like as well as build around it however you’d like this has to be glazed terra gotta specifically but that’s really the only limitation with this

With that let’s jump right in all right so first i’m gonna build it above ground just for building and demonstration purposes but you’re gonna need to carve down nine blocks below where your underground base is gonna be so if we go one two three four five six seven eight

Nine this is the entrance to your underground base so like this is your pathway to your base and then the surface is somewhere way up there you need to go nine blocks down in order to build the flying machines and i’m gonna build them on the bottom and then we’ll send them

To the top because i think that’s faster but you need to have enough space under it in order to build it all right so next at the bottom you’re going to need to have probably like a 6×6 amount of space because the flying machine itself is 4×4

And you need to have some redstone there but it really is up to you how you do that but basically there’s four different flying machines we’re just going to build them all at the same time because i think it’s easier so at the bottom here you’re going to use

Four obsidian in this pattern right here i’m going to get rid of this just for clarity so you put forward something like this you put lamps like this and the lamps here are the way you send the flying machines which worry about later and then what we do is we put observers

Facing into the lamps we put pistons facing up on top of the observers and then we put slime blocks and then honey blocks so that they’re staggered on the sides here above the obsidian and it doesn’t really matter where you put them i like to make a little

Cornered but it doesn’t really matter as long as they’re staggered and like these aren’t the same thing because otherwise it’ll break and then you do the same thing on these ones where you do honey or slime depending on which one you do on the other side and

These ones actually have to be diagonal because otherwise these are adjacent to each other it doesn’t work like that so these need to be diagonal and then here we do an observer facing upwards and then we do a piston facing down so that it basically they

Face into each other like that and this is exactly what we need for the flying machine this fly machine works perfectly fine but we need to make a few modifications in order to pull down the actual part that you stand on on the elevator and do that we add an observer that

Faces down right here so on this like uh second part of the top uh slime or honey we do the same thing on the other side we make a sticky piston facing upwards and then we add one of the sticky block in order to grab the sticky piston here and then

We put obsidian in these like corners so you go up one and then you go over to the corner and you do that on all four sides and then the actual part of the elevator will go up here and you use honey or slime it doesn’t really matter as long as they are

Staggered like this and you do them in these like two by two patterns here and then you put the actual block that you’re gonna use for the elevator which i’ll use grass on top of this this is the entire flying machine so next we’ll do the part at the top in

Order to receive and send the flying machine down as well as the redstone that can send it back up all right so the redstone on the bottom needs to hook up to these lamps and they need to hook up on the same delay so you can use

Repeaters to make sure that the delay is the same and what i mean by that is when you activate the button that eventually wires down here all of the lamps need to go at the same time or else the flying machines will try to go at separate times

And then what will happen is like if this one tries to go up first this honey block ends up here and then all of a sudden this honey block is stuck to this piston and then the whole thing will break so make sure that these are all dually

The same like if you’re coming from this direction and you need to signal extend this side make sure you delay these by two so that overall there’s the same amount of delay this down here will wire up to a button that is on the bottom of your base so

You could do this however you want and it can go literally anywhere you want i’ll just bring it up to simulate that it’s somewhere down here but it can literally go anywhere you want so we’ll wire this down and we’ll probably need to signal extend it

Once so we could do that and then make sure that these again are the same delay so this will be the entrance to your base and this will be the button that is down into the entrance of your base in order to send the flying machine back up

So next i actually forgot to add lamps to the flying machine so we need to add lamps in front of these top observers up here in order to be able to power the flying machine when it’s up there and we’ll see why it’s lamp and not something like this

In a second next we need to bring obsidian up to the surface so this will say is our surface this gold ring is temporary this is just so that we can place the pistons here in a second and this wall needs to either be obsidian or glazed terracotta and that’s because

It can’t stick to either the slime blocks or the honey blocks you could just have air here and just have a hole but the problem with having a hole is that you could accidentally fall down and get stuck and that just wouldn’t be good but you could do whatever you want so up

Here we need to have pistons on all four sides and we need to have them in a way where when they’re extended the block that they’re pushing is level with the wall here so if these are extended then the gold block would be here and this is now level with the wall down

Here and we need to do this on all four sides this is so that we can stop the flying machine when it gets to the top without needing to have obsidian above the surface and this is how it can stop without literally having anything above the surface

So we do this on all four sides and make sure that the gold blocks are level okay right and this is our surface remember so we can’t have anything that is going to require us to remove the surface so this ring is temporary it will power the pistons in a different way

But we need to have the pistons like this right and we need to have a way in order to power these all so we hook them up to repeaters and we’ll bring this all the way around because you have to use repeaters in order to make sure that they’re all

Powered without being able to power a block up here because if we did like this you can’t have grass at what would be the surface and i guess you could if you really wanted to do this have the blocks up here but the surface would be a little bit uneven

So it really just depends on how you want to build it and that’s completely up to you so we’ll do this all right so now that we have this ring we need to be able to power the pistons and i usually just use repeaters and the pistons do not have to be delayed

The same way like the lamps do but i like to do it just to make sure that i know when they’re turning off because there is a delay that has to happen between the button on the surface and the lamps that will be down here as well as the pistons here

And i like to be able to have clarity but it’s really up to you and i usually hook up the way we power the pistons up in a corner and it’ll be on the same corner that this buttons on because the this button and the button on the

Surface will hook up to the same circuit and i like to just have it be conveniently placed so we wire this up i’m going to delay these by two because we’re gonna need to signal extend this out and i guess we actually don’t need this corner here

And then we bring this out like that the same way and then we delete these by two so that they all power at the same time and then they’ll pull back at the exact same time now with the pistons wired up if we power them manually we can

Actually bring up the flying machine manually and i’m going to do that right now so that we have the reference positions these pistons have to be extended when the flying machine comes up and we’ll make this automatic but for now i just want to have the following student up there

While we do the stuff at the top so i’ll bring this up and what we need to do is we need to wire up these lamps on the sides in order to be able to send the flying machine back down and we need to do that in a way that the

Redstone is hidden and the way i do that is i put obsidian here because this it will be obsidian and then we put repeaters here and they go into the obsidian that will power these lamps so they go in the middle too and then we put redstone here and then we

Bring it down a block and then we do repeaters again and then we do redstone here right and then we do that on the other side and like i said all this will be automatic we just need to wire it up at some point so again on this side we do repeaters in

The middle two we do redstone and then we do repeaters on the bottom and then we do redstone okay and just like the lamps at the bottom they need to be delayed the exact same way so if you say power from here and you don’t have a

Repeater here but you have a repeater here then these need to be delayed by one more than they already are in order to keep the delay the same i don’t really know where we’re gonna put the t flip flop i think we put it on this corner

Uh so we’ll actually do the exact opposite of what i just said so we put the repeater like in the middle here and then let’s see what do we have one two three four five six seven eight nine uh let’s do two let’s do two i think it’ll be really

Close and then we delay these by two and then we use this to power these right and then this should be able to send this back down except for the top because i broke it we can send it back up if this happens you can actually send it back up

Uh by unpowering that and then you send it back up just like you would i forgot to unextend those pistons but it’s fine because it will unbreak itself if it goes back up just like this and then you when it reaches the top you’ll unextend these and then now you can send the

Whole thing back down next we need to make a button that is on the surface that will send the flying machine down or pull the flying machine up actually i should mention this both of the buttons will be able to either send the flying machine down

Or send the flying machine up so if the flying machine is all the way back at the base but you’re on the surface for some reason like maybe you died and you forgot you didn’t have a bed or you have multiple people that are going to go into your base

Um the button up here will be able to pull the flying machines back up and likewise if you’re down there and you want to send the flying machines up to kind of cover up your base because if you’re going to be in your base for a while you don’t

Want just like a hole in the ground you’ll be able to push the button and actually have the fly machine come back up and then go back down when you want it to from the same button in order to do that we need to have this button on the surface

Go all the way down and hook up to the signal that is also from the other button down there right so we actually hooked them up the same way i did this off camera because it really is dependent on what you do wherever you put the button or pressure

Plate or whatever will depend on how you build it so basically yeah just hook these up i just made a spiral down signal extended it and then hooked up to the back of this and then this of course hooks up to down here and it will hook up to both right you

Want the lamps the idea here is you want both of the lamps to turn on when either of the buttons are pressed and we can do it the other way now by doing it first of all t flip flop and this will be a lot of ups and downs

But the only way to make both buttons do what we want so right here we do t flip flop and i’m going to do the java edition exclusive t flip flop because the fly machines are java edition anyways because in better recognition these flying machines won’t work so the t flip

Flop will be built like this and then we do the piston here let’s see if i can do this in mid-air i cannot do it mid-air i’m bad at the game okay put it there and then you put this here this here torch here and then you

Put a repeater here and now we have a t flip flop that is hooked up to both buttons and then this signal we have to bring back up to the top so it’s a little bit roundabout way of doing this we bring this back up to the top

And you’ll need to signal extend it at some point because the redstone can only go 15 blocks at a time so let’s do it right here and how you build this really just does depend on where you have your buttons and how you have the rest of it built

So we bring these more up and then you wire this so we don’t wire directly up to this quite yet what we do is this is the signal for the t flip flop that needs to be wired up to these pistons so we actually take

This and we wire it directly up to the pistons like this and then what we do is we delay this by a bit and then we put an observer that faces into it because the observer will make it where it only it gives us a signal when the signal in

The t flip flop changes not when it’s just on because when we press either button we want both lamps both sides of the lamps to go on no matter what the signal and the default fob actually is and the way we can do that is with an

Observer so it’ll do it when it changes so we do that and then i put a four tick delay on the observer just to make sure that the signal isn’t too fast because if the signal is too fast then the lamps will turn off too fast and then the flying machines will break

And then this is the signal that we bring up to this and that’s not going to work and then we just hook this up and this should work right so if we have the flying machines up here and actually i need to go turn the t flip flop on real fast

So break this turn the t flip flop on by putting the block here what will happen is the pistons will do that and actually we need to wire this differently because i had it done in the other corner so we need to add a repeater somewhere here which we can do just like

This all right so now all these are extended and then what will happen is we press this button and these will unextend faster than the lamps are sent and that’s exactly what we would want so we press the button and it’ll go down the t flip flop will flip

These will retract and then the whole thing gets sent down right and then the same thing will happen when we press this button except it will happen the other way well those will get sent the delay won’t matter up here because it’s down here and it doesn’t need to be contracted first

And then this will get sent back up and then you have it where both buttons can do either direction which is what you’d want because like if you’re down here and you want to be in your base and you don’t want anybody to know where the entrance is you can hit the button

And have it sent back up while you’re down here and actually you could probably add a delay or two to this just so it doesn’t send up immediately i would recommend doing that where you just add a whole bunch of delays to this and that’s completely up to you if you want

To be instant then that’s your call but having time to get on the flying machine would be nice and then if you’re down here still you press the button again and it will come back down for you so that you don’t have to go back up there

Or have like a friend do it it’s completely independent and all right guys that is it this is how to make a secret base entrance right here is your surface and you can stay off the radar even if you’re on a server with region claim or we just want to make a nice

Base in a cave or something in the new 1.18 updates and you want to have a nice entrance to it i hope you found something of value of this video and i hope that you can build the tutorial and hope it was clear enough so that it’s easy to build
