And this, is a blank wall. Let me explain. If you combine 2,304 of these pieces, you can make something really cool, such as Darth Vader, Elvis, and even Batman. And if you combine 10,000, you can make the single biggest Lego set ever released, the world map. Well I want to build a piece of art that dwarfs the world map. You see, I’ve always loved these really charming tiny Lego map pieces. They’re pretty basic with few real details, and treasure maps are inherently mysterious and captivating, Always leaving you desperate to know more. So I was sort of toying with the idea, when my favourite artist Jamie Lenman released a new album with this incredible artwork. It’s in the shape of his face, and all the songs are Represented as places on the map. I wanna do my own take on this with places from my videos, and make it significantly bigger than LEGO’s biggest ever. I’m also gonna build 10 of your suggestions, to bring the grand total of LEGO pieces used to 100,000. To begin with, I simply built the torn paper outline of the map. So hopefully this gives you a feel for the size, um, sorry Ralph has completely interrupted me, what are you doing buddy? Err, but yeah, It’s currently very beige and boring, I think I’m just gonna have to Trust the process on this one. So next I moved onto the oceans. I built an orca from the video where I saw real orcas, a whale from the video where I saw real whales, a shark from the video I swam with real sharks, and a sea monster, which unfortunately isn’t from a video, But I would give anything to see a real-life sea monster, assuming it didn’t eat me that is. Then I added the customary compass, an anchor, and a periscope, as well as a pirate ship based upon that from the original tiny treasure map as a sort of easter egg. Next I outlined the land, Shaping a main island plus two smaller ones, and then began the tedious task of filling in the oceans. Until I ran out of pieces. so I’m way happier with how it’s now looking, um, the colour really has changed everything but I did run out of pieces over here, I’ve order more online, But I think they’re gonna take a few days to arrive. I was however, now incredibly bored. Who knew placing tens thousands of identical dots would be so painfully repetitive? And so I think it’s time for the first of 3 side quests. For this test, one must be West, but to the East, a different beast. I’m gonna build something called a lenticular mosaic. This is a piece known as a cheese slope, you can see why, and if I build two different colours in alternating columns like this, I can achieve a sort of optical illusion. So this is how the edge looks, but when you view it from the right, it’s entirely black but from the right, all white. Yeah I’m al-wight thanks, yourself? Now I’m gonna do this on a bigger scale and with actual images. What I really love about this is when viewing it head-on, it looks like complete nonsense, but viewed from the left, it’s my cat Ralph, and viewed from the right, But seriously, how insane is this, even though I know exactly how it works, my head can’t fathom it, it’s like it’s magic! Anyway, By now the missing blue pieces had arrived, and I’m painfully aware that I’m talking far too much, so here’s a cool montage. So the icons on the main island are now more or less done, we’ve got the breakfast train, the LEGO castle, the crystal cave, there’s even Reggie’s bridge up there, Just loads of things from my videos. All that was left was to fill in the sand, and this time I made sure I wasn’t gonna run out of pieces. And then I ran out of pieces …again. I’m not making this up, I literally just need 25 more tan pieces, how infuriating is that? I went rummaging through this colourful soup of escaped tiles and managed to find a grand total of 4. For the remaining 21, I sadly had to deface the world map, adding injury to the insult of far surpassing it’s piece count. It’s done! Lastly I turned my attention to the final island. I want this to be a snowy forest, like the one I made for the winter train video. I started by building a fox and a reindeer, before moving on to the trees. The trees are done, There was a lot of trial and error making them look good in pixel form but I think I’m happy. And after building a frame, the treasure map was complete. But you might be wondering, if this is a treasure map, where’s the treasure?! Isn’t there supposed to be a giant X somewhere, Or a line leading to it? Well there is, it’s just invisible. No really, there is, it’s invisible! I guess I should explain with side quest number two. You must make, in your mosaic, one thing by light, another by night That’s right, I’ve hidden glow In the dark LEGO pieces amongst the rest, leading to where the treasure is buried. Make your guesses, because in 5 seconds I’m gonna turn out the lights and reveal the secret. How cool is that?! The breakfast train leads you to the fossils, leading you to skull rock, Tapir island, The volcano campsite and the snowy forest, before you discover the treasure itself. Now if you’ve been keeping score, and I know I most certainly have, you’ll notice that we’re only up to 65,280 pieces, only two thirds of what this video’s title boldly promised you. So here’s the third and final side quest. Your final task, you must ask, decide your fate, what to create, I asked you what else I should build to get the total to 100,000. A few of the suggestions I’ve already made, but here are the 10 best. And whilst I’m making these, There are well over a hundred people I need to say thank you to. Our fundraising campaign for charity:water last month raised a staggering £36,545, which will provide clean water and safe sanitation to 4 schools in Cambodia, which really is mindblowingly incredible. So I wanna say a massive thank you to… Nancy Livingston & Ronin Welty, Alex Dillion from San Francisco, Katie P, Kate Male, Inês, James & Thomas from Finchley, Justin & Buzzthecat, Fox Bro Gaming, Nova & Teddy Bishop-Simmons, Charlie & Mads, Shaina, Natalie K. from Minnesota, Lucas & Eleanor Pei-Chan, James Barton, his mum SARAH & dad PAUL, A FELLOW CHRIS, SHU & SUSSE, JEREMY & PARKER COMO, ROBBIE ABELLA, EVERETT LOWERY, TELESCOPES CANADA, VEDDIT, MAX RAY, MARIE FROM SWITZERLAND, DURI SALEH, CHRIS THE CYCLIST, THE LITTLE JOHANN BUCHET, BRANTLEY N, WENDY, GENEVIEVE & Giselle, CLAIRE, ABBY & EMMA NOBLE, MILO & cats LOKI & POE, THEO & JOSIE, ALICE COLEMAN, IDRIS & BRYN GRIFFITHS, NORAH MCALLISTER HALL, ALEX & JASON, THEO’S COUSIN HUNTER, RONAN & NOVA & cat TWYLA, LILY, ANYA & daughter ESTHER, CHARLIE SILVA, A, KATE HUGHES, MATTHEW CROFT, EMÚ, TOMMY, SHERLOCK the CAT, STEPHANIE, ERIK, & SERVO, JASON, KATY & cats ELSA & MATHILDA, BENJI ANDERSON, MATTY SHEPPARD & family, RAINSTORMCHEETAH, ALEX from MASSACHUSETTS, MARCUS FINZEN, THE KERNBAUM family, SENAN & DAIRE DUNPHY & mum RAYCHEL in DUBLIN, LEVI MUELLER, NMATTIA, RUFUS RUDY, DAVID W, REMINGTON, EMBER JOHNSON, APRIL, DIEGO & EVA, EMORY, NATE D, NICHOLAS TARINO, ELLIOT A in SEATTLE, JACK & JAYLA, ELANOR in TORONTO, COOPER & LILA DAME, BOBBI & RAY RAY, PHILLIP BUFF, JACOB LYONS, MARINA & TESSA, HUXLEY, COURTNEY, & JARED, THE RINK family, CHARLOTTE FALCONE, LEE ANNE & RYAN, PAUL MILLER, THE WORSHAM boys, RILEY FOWLER, TOM, SAM, ZUZI & DAVE CHAPPELL & CINDY the MINI SCHAUZNER!
