60 Minecraft Updates that CHANGED before 1.15

Behind now we move to beta 1.2 first of all reeds were renamed sugarcane yes that’s right these were originally called reeds because they were originally used for paper they still looked and acted the same essentially but they just were updated to be called sugarcane furnace textures were changed they originally

Spawn point in the nether so they just made beds explode instead ladders were changed so that you would need to place a ladder right above the next one in order for you to climb them originally you could climb ladders that had spaces in between them in beta 1.5 they changed

This however they did double the amount of ladders you got from the recipe the sides of grass blocks would now better match the tops of grass blocks as you can see here we’ve got slightly different shades of green going on on the sides of these blocks versus the top

Now the regular grass was finally changed so that irrespective of what game mode rendering mode you were in they all matched on the sides beta 1.6 arrows can now be picked up from others other players at least look we can collect it that’s lovely fire was nerfed it used to be ultimately destructive

Spreading like fire burn burn up you could literally lose entire forests at the rate that fire used to spread essentially instantly it was changed so that it could not spread infinitely anymore and would eventually have essentially a flame decay rate that would ensure that you would not lose

Every single aspect of your home or of trees nearby walls were changed to push you out of them if you happen to get stuck in one for one reason or another as you can see here we don’t get stuck inside this wall for too long this was

To be done so that players wouldn’t get stuck through a glitch of some sort and then end up suffocating in the wall sneaking was changed as well so that you could actually climb up stairs while you were sneaking before this you couldn’t climb stairs if you were in sneak mode

It just didn’t work the version of minecraft you were playing was changed to only be shown when pressing your f3 button so if you were wondering why that beta text is gone now that’s exactly why although it used to be shown in the top corner of the screen at all times not

And steel can now ignite tnt that’s right i don’t know if you remember but previously you would punch tnt to ignite it that used to set it off now it was changed that you would need a flint and steel in order to light it or fire charges things of that nature etc etc

Etc cobblestone and brick textures were changed in this version as well look this is a little bit more familiar and so are the bricks remember darker look how they used to look ooh a lot brighter and this had a lot more contrast involved now it’s been changed redstone

Dust was changed to connect with redstone repeaters which were a fairly recent phenomenon at the time look at this lovely and finally beta 1.8 the final beta version before the game was technically released yes that’s right all of this stuff happened technically before minecraft was officially released first

Of all a 3d lock was added to chests this was the old texture flat as can be sorry about that but now you’ve got a 3d lock and the chests were essentially an entity now instead of a standard block skeletons were changed to finally hold their bows properly so they lain so they

Looked a little bit better and more seamless with the graphics system stop trying come on cheers were updated to be able to collect vines and grass before that you didn’t really have any way of getting these other than i believe silk touch but now with shears all your

Problems are gone if if your problems involve vines and grass exclusively similar to the locks pigs were updated to be a little bit more 3d in nature as well check this one out old pigs sucked no special texture i mean look it’s just so flat new pigs show me your nose a little

Burning oh so sad hey thanks for your feathers though i don’t experience one of the feathers but they were changed instead when you kill a zombie you now get some zombie flesh infinitely more edible way less fun to tickle people with yeah i’m not weird bows were changed to be

Way less machine gun in nature sorry mgk it’s a shame really originally when you had a bow here you could just right click and it would go nuts you could literally spam it just by holding your right click down and fire arrows like they were going out of style baby hot

Cake status changes were made to combat so that you could deal critical damage dependent on if you jumped at the right moment so check out the difference here we punch this pig nothing special but if we were to jump at the perfect moment and then punch this pig you’d see that

Critical particle effects come off to imply that we’ve done extra damage to this pig as a result of our excellent jumping i’m so good at jumping see certain foods were changed to give you food poisoning for example you never used to be able to eat raw chicken and
