What’s poppin gamers it is me leon and welcome to the first episode in a brand new series called seven quick tips in this series i’m gonna give you some quick tips for building in various styles as well as some general building advice for small and large projects and we’re gonna Kick things off today with a big boy that’s right we’re talking about seven quick tips to create amazing minecraft mega bills i know that’s quite a title enough talk strap yourselves in and let’s get right into the tips Tip number one have a clear idea in mind before you even start building it’s a really good idea to just think about what you want to do and i know that sounds really really stupid but it’s true whether you’re taking inspiration from another game a movie some other form of media Or maybe something from real life whatever you want to do it’s important to get inspiration and then transition that into a completed build that you have visualized in your mind now my favorite way to do this is to sit down go on google and find reference images especially if what You’re trying to build is something that doesn’t exist in the real world uh finding things that do exist that actually look a little similar can do you wonders for understanding what is going to go into your build honestly go outside and take pictures if you have to i know i know Telling minecraft players to go outside but seriously like it’s not a bad idea and it can really really inspire you now on top of that it’s really important to have an idea that you can stick with a lot of people myself included will get really inspired To work on a build and then it just completely burns out in like a few weeks or not even a few weeks maybe a few days uh and that really sucks because you don’t want to get a good portion of the way through a large project and then realize you Don’t care about it anymore you know what i mean even worse than that is realizing that and continuing to force yourself through the completion of the project because first of all you’re not enjoying yourself now and second of all you’re not gonna enjoy yourself later at the end when the project’s actually Finished so what are you doing just just don’t just chill take a break find something else anyways you know find something in your life that you know is a continual source of inspiration or enjoyment for you something you won’t be bored of in a few days that’s very very important Two plan and sketch things out beforehand one of my favorite things to do before i start a build is to just lay out some basic aspects of the build like the general structure block palette whatever other materials you’ll need if you’re building in survival you might want to set up some infrastructure beforehand Like farms gathering things to make the building process more fluid and simpler a lot of really great builders do this and you know no one is just going to come up with an idea on spot and just start building and have it turn out amazing and perfect that’s not possible And no one does that so if you think you can do that you’re lying to yourself and i don’t say that in a mean way it’s okay to not do that i can’t do that if i just pick an idea and start building it’s gonna turn out lopsided and crappy And i’m not gonna be proud of it another thing that’s really really helpful is to just sketch things out this can be a creative world where you lay out the rough design of the project before then transitioning it into your real world or it could be a sketch on paper it Could even just be sitting there and planning things out in your mind anything helps really not only is this going to make you feel more professional but it’s going to make your builds better and easier to construct when you’re making the final product three modularize your build now what Does that mean when i say modularized i mean designed in such a way that if you get burnt out part way through you won’t have a blatantly unfinished project the best way of doing this in my opinion is to design builds that can be built in small increments So as an example let’s say you want to build a minecraft city right now cities are composed of many many many different small buildings let’s say you get halfway through building all these buildings and you’ve got you know some of them fully completed some of them are not started yet if you Were to get burned out right at that point it really wouldn’t be as bad as building one large massive structure that you just physically can’t get yourself to complete and rather than having a finished build that might just be a little smaller or lacking a couple features you have something that is Blatantly unfinished even if what you’ve completed isn’t quite what you would imagine you’re going to be happier with a completed project that you can show off to people versus something that just doesn’t look like it’s anywhere near completed now of course not all builds can Be built in this way if you have the opportunity to make a build in this style i highly highly recommend to modularize your build as a sort of burnout fail Safe four try new things everyone is gonna get bored building in the same style over and over again i mean i do and i’m sure you guys do too using the same block palette the same shape over and over again it’s going to get old so even if it’s Not the most comfortable thing in the world it’s a really really good idea to take that step out of your comfort zone and take the time to learn something new or try something new maybe you want to experiment with adding redstone maybe a brand new block palette using some blocks that you don’t Normally use or experiment with shapes instead of building rectangles over and over again try some more wacky and experimental shapes and see what you can come up with this serves as a great refresher gives you a sense of new accomplishment it’s very very easy In this game to sort of fall into a rut of knowing hey i’ve built this in this way before it looked pretty good i’m gonna do it again and while that’s fine there’s so much out there to try out it really makes the most sense to just try new things 5. get feedback other people have a unique perspective when you’ve been working on the same project for a long time you place yourself into a narrow perception of it and this isn’t a bad thing this is completely normal and it happens to everyone but at the same time asking other people for Their thoughts can really open your mind to things that you have never ever considered before the simplest solution to this is just sending your game file off to a friend or someone else who is willing to look it over for you they’ll understand that you’ve been working on this for a Long time and i’m sure that they’d be able to provide some valuable insight into things that you might have missed along the way and of course if you’re playing on a multiplayer server this just gets even easier tell your friend to just head on over to your base have a look around and See what they like and what they don’t like now of course you have to be ready to accept some criticism and some feedback but at the end of the day as long as the other person is trying to help you i’m sure you’ll come out of it better and wiser and really Everything is just more fun with friends six take breaks you’re probably not playing minecraft as a full-time job as wonderful as that would be there are a precious few of us that get that luxury in life if you just sit down and force yourself to work on something that you aren’t Getting money or recognition for burning out is a very real danger and that’s okay once in a while just don’t forget to take a break for a bit and come back with a fresh mind new motivation and maybe even some new ideas as much as it is encouraged to you know Grind things out and get things done as quickly as possible that’s not always the healthiest thing to do it can really take a toll on you so really just understand your limits and know when to take a step back Seven be proud of what you’ve done minecraft minecraft is a hard game and more importantly it is a slow game something that i feel is super important is just occasionally taking a step back and being like wow i’ve come this far this is genuinely really cool but at the Same time remind yourself that you can keep improving and doing better you want to strike a nice balance between being proud enough of your work to feel joy about your accomplishments without getting overly self-rewarding and complacent with something that you know you’re not putting 100 Into now of course it’s just a game but for many people it’s an art form and no good art is created without at least a little bit of struggle Thank you very much for watching
