Hundreds of players flooded Downdetector with login failures, launch crashes, and connection errors on June 29, peaking above 870 reports before tapering off with no immediate Mojang comment.

Early Monday morning Minecraft went dark for a sizable chunk of its player base. Starting around 6:11 a.m. ET complaints poured in about login failures, game launch problems, and inability to connect to servers. By 8:16 a.m. the volume had climbed past 870 reports according to Downdetector before easing to around 630 an hour later.
The disruption affected both Java Edition and Bedrock players trying to access Realms, multiplayer servers, or even single player worlds that require online verification. Status monitoring sites noted failing access token fetches which matches the dominant login category.
No Official Word From Mojang
As of the latest updates Mojang had issued no statement or acknowledged the outage on its usual channels. That silence left the community speculating on forums and social media about whether it was a backend maintenance slip or something more widespread. Reports continued to surface into the following day though the peak had clearly passed.
- Peak complaint volume exceeded 870 reports shortly after 8 a.m. ET on June 29
- Login failures formed the clear majority of tracked issues
- Reports began declining after 9 a.m. suggesting partial recovery
- No patch notes or maintenance window announced beforehand
Minecraft services appear to be experiencing intermittent authentication problems right now.
Similar authentication spikes have happened before and usually resolve within hours once Mojang flips the right switch. Until an official postmortem surfaces players are left with the familiar advice of waiting it out or checking their internet and launcher cache. The timing right before a busy week for many players only amplified the frustration.
