Minecraft 26.3 Snapshot 2 Drops Technical Fixes

Mojang releases the second test build for the third 2026 game drop focusing on rendering improvements, idle mob optimizations and bug fixes as players wait for the full Dappled Forest content.

Mojang has pushed out Minecraft 26.3 Snapshot 2 bringing mostly under-the-hood changes instead of new blocks or mobs. The headline feature is a rendering toggle aimed at fixing long-standing transparency issues that have annoyed builders and redstoners for years.

Mob AI has also been optimized so idle entities do not waste CPU cycles when no players are nearby. This should help larger servers and exploration worlds run smoother. A handful of gameplay adjustments and fixes round out the package.

What actually changed

  • New transparency rendering option in video settings
  • Mob behavior optimization for unobserved entities
  • Several technical and gameplay bug fixes
  • No new biome content in this snapshot
This snapshot is classic incremental Mojang work. Players get performance relief now while the flashy Dappled Forest biome and structures stay locked behind later snapshots. If you test it expect fewer visual glitches with glass, water and leaves.

The snapshot is available immediately through the Minecraft Launcher by enabling snapshots in installations. Always back up your worlds before loading them into test versions.

We’re back with the second snapshot for 26.3. This week brings a new rendering option designed to improve transparency handling in Minecraft Java.

Feedback from this snapshot will shape what lands in the full third drop expected in September. If past patterns hold the next one could arrive within a week.
