After years of player requests the latest Java snapshot and Bedrock preview let you craft colored cushions for sitting and straw beds that let you sleep without resetting your spawn point while also adding new tools for map makers.

The biggest headline is that Minecraft now has a dedicated way to sit. The cushion is crafted using wool slabs and exists in all 16 dye colors. Place it near a campfire and right click to take a load off. It is a small quality of life change that feels surprisingly significant after 15 years of the game existing without it.
Paired with the cushion is the straw bed. Crafted from hay bales it lets players sleep in the wild without resetting their spawn point. The bed has limited durability and can break after a few uses adding a bit of risk to nomadic playstyles. It is perfect for long exploration trips or temporary bases.
Technical upgrades for creators
Beyond the new blocks the snapshot includes custom brewing recipes and expanded post processing options. Map makers and datapack creators now have more flexibility to build unique mechanics and visual effects without relying on heavy mods. These changes signal Mojang continuing to invest in the games modding and customization tools.
The updates are available now through the Minecraft launcher for Java snapshots and the Bedrock preview channel. Players on both editions can test the features immediately though full release will come later in the 26.3 cycle.
