Dozens of fresh player reports cite authentication servers failing, connectivity drops, and token errors on September 8 with issues hitting multiple continents in the last hours.

If you booted up Minecraft today and got slapped with authentication errors, failed token checks, or could not connect to servers, you are not alone. As of September 8 2026 status sites are flooded with reports of exactly that.
StatusGator alone shows dozens of submissions in the past 24 hours with the majority clustered today. Common complaints include “Auth Servers Down”, “Authentication token not working”, “cant connect”, and general connectivity failures. Affected regions stretch from North America through Asia to Europe.

Third party checkers give a mixed picture. Some endpoints return OK responses with low latency while others time out or return unexpected codes. The official Minecraft status page itself became unreachable during verification which is not a great sign.
What players are seeing
- Authentication failures preventing login or skin loading
- Inability to join online mode servers or Realms
- Intermittent connectivity even when the launcher says services are up
- Reports continuing through the afternoon and evening UTC on September 8
This is not the first time Minecraft services have hiccuped but the timing lands right after recent pre releases and while the community is heavily engaged with the current drop cycle. When auth breaks multiplayer dies and that is exactly what a chunk of the player base is dealing with today.
Auth Servers Down. New York. about 2 hours ago.
That is one of many near identical reports logged today. Others mention “authentication token not working” and “cant connect” from entirely different time zones. The geographic spread makes a single point of failure on the player side unlikely.
We will update this story if Mojang acknowledges the issues or if the reports die down. In the meantime plenty of players are stuck in single player or staring at error screens instead of exploring with friends.
