I can’t even with Minecraft’s new terrain generation… Spent a few days flying around just exploring my seed in 1.18 and recorded some of the coolest looking spots I found. In the end I had about 6.5 hours of footage I cut down to this 24 min video. Most shots I sped up 1.5x-5x because to play it all in real time would take way too long.
I also spent the last couple weeks updating my personal texture pack, Marcel’s Mashup RTX, that I used in this video. 1.18 didn’t really break anything, so it’s mostly just been tweaking and enhancing stuff.
The full change list is as follows: – Fixed the weird horizon line that started appearing under water in dark places in MC 1.17 – Fixed distant ice from changing colour – Fixed the deepslate top from showing up as the default texture – Fixed the alignment of most animated textures. It looks like there’s a glitch when RTX is enabled where animated textures become misaligned with their PBR textures by a couple pixels, so they looked a little off. – Redid all the fog files from scratch – Restored the grass biome colours and grass biome blending back to default so it would work better with my new seasons addons. – Added a texture for the new record – Added a little hole to the center of all the records – Added a texture for the base command block because I used it in a build. (Couldn’t add all the other variants because I ran out of texture space) – Added some light points to dripstone so you can see it a lot better in caves and it looks like it has a bunch of glow worms on it. – Made flowering azalea leaves glow – Added some light points to amethyst blocks to make them look a little more magical – Took the glowing coral from my Bioluminescence Addon and made them part of the main pack instead – Made copper ore a bit more vibrant – Removed the subtle pulsing animation from redstone ore so I could use the texture space elsewhere – Replaced all the carried leaves texture with the actual texture used for the leaves. I had just placeholder leaves there before that I forgot to swap out. – Redid the PBR textures for stone, all stone ores and stone bricks, deepslate, all deepslate ores and deepslate bricks, all leaves, lily pad, podzol, gravel, granite, grass, grass path, dirt, coarse dirt, farmland wet and dry, mob spawner, glow lichen, jukebox, sea pickle, beacon. – Squeezed in a few more 512x versions of textures – New background image for the menu
I also created a bunch more addons for the pack and updated a few. The new ones are: – A Deepslate Full Of Stars (Adds some light points to deepslate which makes it look like a starfield) – Brighter Caves (Adds some light points to common blocks found in caves and made the existing glow blocks brighter) – Deep Water Black (Makes water black and hazy and extra reflective, like a deep lake) – Deep Water Colour (Makes water hazy and dark and extra reflective, but retains default colour) – Fogged Up (Extra fog/haze for thicker god rays) – Full Grass (Replaces the grass block side texture with the top texture) – Only Vanilla Glows (Removes the glow from anything that doesn’t glow in default Minecraft) – Fall Foliage (Gives trees and grass fall colours) – Spring Foliage (Gives trees and grass bright vibrant colours) – Winter Foliage (Gives trees and grass dead and frosty colours) – Hell On Earth (Gives trees, grass, water, rain and snow, reddish colours) – Glazed Terracotta HD (Replaces glazed terracotta with similar style 256x textures (only works with 256x version of the pack or lower for now, until Mojang raises the texture pack size limit) – Glazed Terracotta Enhanced (Adds ray tracing effects to default glazed terracotta to make them look a little more 3D)
The updated ones are: – Bioluminescence (Gives a slight glow to all grass, plants, flowers, vines, seagrass, mushrooms, etc.) – Fog Off (Disables the fog/haze) – Glowing Ores (Makes all ores glow as well as diamond, emerald, redstone and Lapis lazuli blocks) – Touch-O-Fog (Cuts the fog/haze by 60%) – Lower Resolution Stuff (Lowers the resolution of a bunch of things so they render properly when held with Ray Tracing turned on and increase performance overall)
