Ladies and Gentlemen! It’s finally happened, the full update 1.20.2 is available and everyone can download and start playing. But unfortunately, not everything is as simple as we would like it to be. Some of the most important and cool features, for some reason, were not added to the full version. The review will be very interesting, so sit back, grab a cup of tea, leave a like, subscribe, and lets get started! Let’s start with the most pleasant things. Sounds. After almost 14 years, sponges have finally gotten their own unique sounds. But, not only the regular sponges got their own sounds, but also the wet sponges. First, let’s hear what the sounds were like before this snapshot. Yes, the most typical and usual sounds for any block. Now let’s hear the new sounds. I really like the sound of the sponge absorbing water, as well as the sound of just a wet sponge. Then they updated the distribution of diamond ore. Now it is found much more often in the deep shale layers of the earth. They added a uniform distribution, from height -64 on Y to -4, the size of such a blob can reach up to 8 blocks, and there is a 50% chance that it will be generated even in contact with air. So it will be a little bit easier to find diamonds. I don’t know how much positive news this will be for you, but now the Chorus flower will not provide support for hanging or standing blocks. For example, we used to be able to attach a torch or a sign to it. Now we don’t have that option. The next feature is just something incredibly convenient. The thing is that the developers have added “Command History”. The last 50 commands that you sent in chat, will be kept in the memory of the game, and overwrite all previous ones. This applies only to commands, regular messages will be deleted after leaving the server or the world. These messages are saved within one game session. The most important plus is the ability to use these commands in different worlds. If I use a command in one world and then go back to another world, I can still access it even after I’ve logged into the game. It’s as convenient as possible, and I’m glad they added it. Command history is stored in the game files, in a text document called “command history”. The barrier blocks, those red blocks that look like a forbidden sign, can now be placed underwater without any problems. It’s not that they couldn’t be placed there before, it’s just that now it’s a completely waterlogged block. If you put it underwater, you won’t see any empty space. Now, eating chorus will 100% save you from falling. It works as follows, you fall, quickly eat the chorus, and it will teleport you to the ground. The chorus will now save you from falling. It works at any height. I’m sure it will help you a lot. From more technical things, the developers have added new keyboard shortcuts for the debug menu. Now if we press “F3+1” we can see the diagram, with “F3+2” we can see the “F-P-S” and “T-P-S”, and if we press “F3+3” we can see the bandwidth and ping, but I’m not on the server, so I Can’t see anything. You may not have noticed it, but when a player or a mob gets on the minecart – it seems to be a little bit moved forward. Conditionally now Zombie will not be able to hit you directly through the doors. This happened to me a lot, and when you’re playing on Hardcore, this kind of thing can cost you the whole world. But be extra careful. Not only were the changes in our favor, but also in favor of the mobs themselves. The thing is that previously we were saved from the Enderman only with one and a half blocks. If you were attacked by an Enderman, it was enough to put a block and a slab under you – then he could not hurt you. Agree, this is a bit dumb, considering that the Enderman is 3 blocks tall, and he 100% can reach us. So the developers realized that this is as stupid as possible, and fixed it too. Now, to hide from him will need a column three blocks high. That is twice as big. Only then will you be safe. The same applies to another situation. Previously, the mobs could attack us with their say so upper hit box. Model the situation, the mob is right above us, but we are below him for a block and a Half – in this case, he cannot reach us, although his hit box is actually yes. Now, in a similar situation – the mob can easily deal damage to us. All because of the fact that our head is in range of his lower hit box. I agree, perhaps this is an unpleasant innovation, but now if we move on horseback, then small hostile mobs such as baby zombies cannot hurt us. So they decided to take the camel functionality and apply it to the horse. Thank you for that. Speaking of camels, they’ve changed now too, they’ve been improved. Yes, I agree, they used to protect us from high mobs, but now they can protect us even from Endermen. How about that? I’ll even say more, from Zoglins and Hoglins too, although I can’t imagine why you’ll need to travel around the Nether on a Camel. And to finish off the changes of getting damage from Mobs, finally, after 4 years, the Ravagers won’t be able to attack us through a wall of a few blocks. It took a whole 4 years to fix this bug. Of course, better late than never, but it lay right on the surface. Just recently, the developers have fully implemented a new feature called “Quick Play”. It allows you to instantly access worlds and servers directly from the launcher. To get this feature, just go to the launcher settings, and then at the very bottom, in the “Experimental Features” section, enable “Quick Play”. After that, select the required version of the game, go to your world, and after closing, you will see an icon in the upper-right corner. That’s it. Now, every time you click on it, you will quickly get to the right world. This is very convenient. By clicking on the three dots on the right side, you will be able to choose. Attach the world so that it does not go anywhere, was always in place, as well as turn on or off the first letter of the name of your world. You can even choose an icon. As I said, very convenient, use it. The developers have improved the complaint system. Now all players have the opportunity to complain not only about behavior, but also about the skin, as well as the nickname of the player. For this, you can even get a ban, but not everything is so terrible. If your skin does not meet the “Minecraft Community Standards” – you will have to change it. In the description I left a link to these standards, read to accidentally do not get under the handout. Let’s elaborate a bit more. If someone complained about your skin, and it was banned, then this skin will immediately be removed from your account. When you start the game you will be notified of this, which is very helpful, thank you. Your skin will then automatically be reset to the default skin. This mistake will not cost much. You will be able to choose a new skin and upload it to your account at any time. About the nickname, everything is not as simple as we would like. After the player’s nickname is banned, you will also be informed at the first launch Of the game, but you will not be able to play on the official servers until you change your nickname. In any case, you will have to choose a new nickname, you will not be given some random one. But while you are banned, you will be able to play in the single world. I’m more than sure that you are already waiting for me to tell you about the change in trade with villagers, but unfortunately, or fortunately – we have not added these fundamental changes in 1.20.2. All this is available for the game, but in experimental mode. When customizing the world, you can go and turn on “Rebalance villagers”. Most likely, the developers want to add this in 1.21 and finalize these changes. But I will tell you about them now. Librarians from different biomes in which the village can be generated will sell different enchanted books. Each of the librarians in these biomes will have a unique enchanted book that he will sell after reaching the “Master” level in trade. Now, each player will have to explore all 7 existing biomes to get the enchanted books he needs. As for me, this idea looks very interesting. By the way, the developers added that it will, quote, “reveal some information about the history of each type of village through the enchanted book sold in them.” Now, after we have cured a zombie villager, and he has turned into a normal healthy mob – he will give us a big discount only the first time. After he is re-infected and cured, he will fortunately not add a new discount to the previous one. And now, let’s have a look at the new trades that the developers decided to add to us. In the desert we will be able to get “Fire Resistance”, “Thorns” and “Infinity” are the usual books, the special book on the last level of trade will be – “Efficiency” of the third level. In the jungle, yeah, don’t be surprised. You will need to build a village there and bring out a new librarian. If someone suddenly does not know or forgot, the Jungle has unique villagers, or rather an appearance. But villages are not generated there yet. So from the usual books there will be “Feather Falling”, “Projectile Protection” and “Power”, But a special book “Unbreaking” of the second level. In the plains we will be able to get “Punch” – this is an enchantment for the bow, then “Smite” and of course “Bane of Arthropods”. A special book in this biome will be “Protection” of the third level. Savannah will delight all Java players with four books, while Bedrock players will only have three. The thing is that the enchantments for “Sweeping Edge” exist only on the Java version. But “Binding Curse” and “Knockback” are available on every platform, you can be calm. The special book this time is “Sharpness” of the third level. Please keep in mind that we also have snowy biomes, in these biomes villages of different types are generated. From simple books in them, we can find: “Aqua Affinity”, “Looting” and “Frost Walker”. A special book is “Silk Touch”. Swamp. Yes, just like with the Jungle biome, a village cannot appear in this one. But there are special villagers for it, so again we will have to build a village. Here we can find “Depth Strider”, “Respiration” and “Vanishing Curse”, and the special book is “Mending”. The last biome is Taiga. In it from simple books will be “Blast Protection”, “Fire Aspect” and “Flame”, but the special book is “Fortune”, but only the second level. So, now the Wandering Trader will not only sell different things, but also buy some blocks and items from you. He can buy a bottle of water, a bucket of water, a bucket of milk, a Fermented spider’s eye, a baked potato and a Hay Bale. To be honest, I’m still not quite sure why they chose those particular items. On top of that, he’s also got some new deals. He can now sell as many as 8 blocks of any wood, for just 1 emerald. An iron pickaxe, enchanted, by the way. The price ranges from 6 to 20 emeralds and finally invisibility potions for 5 emeralds. I shake the developers’ hand for these new deals. They are really useful items. That’s not all, because all the other deals at the wandering trader were also changed, the prices went down and the amount of goods for that price was increased. Kind of like deflation has occurred. The developers have changed two more villagers: Cartographer and Armorer. Let’s start with the Cartographer. The Cartographer started selling seven new maps at once. This system is very similar to the one they added to Librarians. In total, these are 7 new maps of different villages and structures: Plains Village, Savannah Village, Jungle Temple, Desert Village, Witch’s Hut, Taiga Village and Snow Village. As the developers themselves state, quote: “This will help players who want to find a certain place quickly, without waiting until they stumble upon it accidentally.” – That sounds like a pretty great argument to me, and I agree with it completely. Just like the Librarian sells different books depending on his location, the Cartographers Follow the same mechanics. In the Desert Village, you’ll be able to get a map for the Savannah Village, the Plains Village, and the Jungle Temple. In the Jungle Village, we can get a map for the Savannah Village, the Desert Village, and a map for the Swamp Explorer – that is, the witch’s hut. At the Plains Village, we will find only two maps: a savannah village and a taiga village. The Savannah Village sells three maps at once: the Desert Village, the Plains Village and the Jungle Explorer map. In the Snow Village, the maps are up to a taiga village, a plains village, and a swamp Explorer map. In the Swamp Village we will be able to buy maps to: the Snow Village, the Plains Village, and the Jungle Explorer map. At the last one, the Taiga Village, we can buy a map to the Plains Village, the Snow Village and the Swamp Explorer map. Now we can move on to the new villager, Armorer. This is the villager who will gladly sell us armor. He has also changed dramatically. The most significant change is that to buy diamond armor now need to pay a small amount of Diamonds, as well as Emeralds. This is done, the developers quote, “To make Diamond Armor less useful at the beginning of the game when players don’t have Diamonds, while at the same time giving a powerful advantage to experienced players who have spent some time collecting Diamonds.” Instead of the developers taking away the ability to buy diamond armor, we are left with the ability to buy iron armor, shield, and earn some emeralds ourselves. As you know, each villager who can trade has 5 levels of progression: Novice, Apprentice, journeyman, Expert, Master. So, all Armorers, no matter what biome they are in from Beginner to journeyman inclusive, will have almost the same offers. At Novice level, it’s buying coal and iron for emeralds. At the apprentice level, an Armorer from the Desert, Plains, Savannah, Taiga, and Snow Village will sell iron armor for emeralds. On the same level, only in the Jungle and Swamp, he will sell chainmail armor. Yes, that’s where you can buy it now. Desert Armorer at expert level will sell iron armor with thorns enchantments. At Master level, he will already sell a diamond chestplate and leggings with the same enchantments, And he will also buy an iron block from you for 4 emeralds. The Jungle Armorer, at expert level, will sell you a chainmail armor with first level unbreaking enchantments. At master level, he will sell you a chainmail helmet with projectile protection enchantments, chainmail boots with feather falling, and buy a block of iron. Plain Armorer on expert, will sell iron armor with protection enchantments, and on master – diamond leggings and boots with the same enchantments. Likewise, he will buy an iron block. Savannah Armorer, will sell you the cheapest iron armor, but with a binding curse enchantment. On the master, he will sell you the cheapest, but already diamond armor, in the form of a helmet and chestplate, with the same enchantments. And buy an iron block. On expert, he will sell you a chainmail armor with mending enchantments. On Master, he will sell you a chainmail helmet with the Respiration enchantment of the first level, as well as chainmail boots with Depth Strider of the first level. He will buy an iron block. The last one, Taiga Armorer, at expert level will help you replace one piece of diamond armor with another, which is very handy. This 100% will be used by players. On the master, we will be able to buy a diamond chestplate and leggings with blast protection Of the first level, as well as sell him a diamond block for 42 emeralds.
