Dungeons II Twisted Cape Exploit Sparks Backlash

Anyone could log into a pre-order account to claim the exclusive cosmetic after launch, destroying its value. An official feedback post demands a fix, cape reclamation, compensation for real buyers, and a statement from Mojang.

The pre-order window for Minecraft Dungeons II closed on September 28. One of the main incentives was the Twisted Cape, a limited cosmetic that would also appear in Java and Bedrock. It took less than a day after launch for that exclusivity to evaporate.

According to the post on Mojang’s feedback site, non-pre-order players simply logged into a pre-orderer’s Xbox account and claimed the cape. The post argues this betrays early supporters who bought based on the promised limited reward.

What legitimate buyers want

  • Fix the account loophole immediately
  • Reclaim or visually differentiate capes obtained through the exploit
  • Give real pre-order buyers additional exclusive cosmetics as compensation
  • Issue an official statement addressing the failure
Pre-order bonuses only matter if they stay exclusive. Letting random people log in and steal the reward makes the whole system look incompetent. Silent patching without fixing the damage to trust is not good enough.

Creator videos posted September 30 directly addressed the Twisted Cape exploit alongside other launch friction like Aurora Cape claim delays. X activity shows players still trading or selling access to the cape into early October, proving the incentive remains valuable and the controversy unresolved.

The feedback post has not received a public reply from Mojang as of October 6. Physical edition buyers have also reported missing rewards, adding to the sense that the entire cape rollout was poorly executed. This is the kind of sloppy post-launch execution that erodes goodwill fast.
