Hey folks whp here and today I want to talk about how to keep a long-term Minecraft world and not get bored in the process my original survival world lasted just about 5 years then I fell in love with Hardcore Minecraft and I’ve survived nearly 2 years in my current World so let’s talk about how to stay entertained after you do all of the basics like making a house killing the dragon and getting all of that sweet netherite armor to be fully geared out then what how do we keep going in the same Minecraft World leave a like on This video if you find it helpful and please consider subscribing if you’re new before we talk about how to not get bored in a Minecraft world let’s first talk about why you might want to have a long-term world and well see if that’s for you first up easy uh you can Flex on All your friends with the cool stuff that youve built I mean who doesn’t want to just Flex on the internet about some awesome thing they’ve made so what do you think of the tree I just built on a completely unrelated note of course okay But for real for me I get such a great sense of personal accomplishment seeing everything I’ve built in one world I can walk around this world endlessly and know that I’ve done all of this by myself and that’s honestly really cool to be able to see that doesn’t mean it Has to be a single player world though this could be something you and a few close friends or family members do together and you all get to enjoy the crazy progress you’ve made as a group and you’ll probably go a little bit quicker heck even if you’re a parent and Want to build a huge Minecraft world for your kids or future kids to explore and just see their faces light up along with the TNT at your house but hey at least they looked at it for a few seconds before blowing it up maybe just take Some screenshots and a backup or two so you can still enjoy all the cool stuff you’ve made recently Minecraft has turned into such a Sprint of the game beat the dragon asup build your mega base and get all your fancy farm setup and well then what you did it all a Long-term world is meant to be played at a little bit of a slower pace so you can enjoy the process and you might find a new type of enjoyment for this game by stopping to smell or dig up the digital flowers and seeds that was really good Timing thanks buddy now for the spicy take do you hate new Minecraft updates like maybe those new experimental villager changes if you’re one of the people ranting about those things well boy oh boy do I have a solution for you play in a long-term world going off past Updates if you already have something in your world it doesn’t change for example there’s a villager over here in my 5-year-old survival world he was found back in 1.2 before the village and pillage update and you’ll notice his trades don’t actually lock you can just keep infinitely trading for mending Books more importantly he doesn’t need a workstation or a bed to keep trading he’ll just reset every once in a while so if there’s something coming in a new update that you’re not so excited about but you might already have it set up in your world it probably won’t apply to You at all like netherite for example this hardcore world is nearly 2 years old so you can see in here we’ve got a bunch of books and over here we’ve got a bunch of different netherite tools mostly in here and a lot in here more in Here and over here so all all of my netherite armor and tools are from before 1.20 so I didn’t need to use the upgrade template and I probably will never need it now sure if you lose the stuff or the Villager dies you will need a replacement but that’s your fault so Get good and stop complaining something a little bit less spicy now you’ll eventually clear out so many blocks inside your world that you’ll just have too many materials to know what to do with meaning storage rooms will always be full and you can pretty much ignore Gathering materials in your world if you Want to to keep building forever and ever except Spruce we we always need more Spruce my personal favorite part of a long-term world is I know that everything I build remove change or whatever you want to say has an impact on this world everything I build in this World has a reason to exist and has an impact on the world whether I just walk by it on the way to a farm or just to build a really cool Village that I consistently walk around inside of I will constantly see these things again and I absolutely love it that’s how I Got hooked on the long-term play style in Minecraft if you have any other reasons that keep you playing let me know down in the comments below now let’s talk about pacing because this is very important to not burning out the way I make sure I don’t get burned out And stay entertained is how I’ve set up my world to be sustainable for enjoyment I constantly have something new that I’m working towards starting small with your builds and Farms you make is step one scale up your projects as you go along don’t start with the 200,000 block Mega Base start with a house this also applies to farm build a small starter iron farm instead of building the 1 million iron in get per hour farm right away that’ll take you more than a month without any of the extra steps to help you out just to make it a little bit Easier then as your world grows and you want a new project update the iron farm and make a bigger one when you’re running out of iron and you know need the materials taking the time to start small and just enjoying making something simple that gives a sense of accomplishment will help you keep Motivation to level up all your projects as you go I always like to make a build for each Farm or thing that I build as it’s really easy to make the world feel so much more established right away as I have my starter house right over here Inside we have a kitchen space and my storage room that I still use upstairs we have our bedroom as well as a little Lounge then you can walk through this connecting bridge to get over into a building that is separated but stores my enchanter at the top now instead of some Boring ladder in my basement I have a full mine building over here with a minecart ride that takes me all the way down to the bottom of the world stopping off at every layer for mining with systems where I can drop resources in that take them up to the storage at the Surface that way if I want to zone out and keep mining for longer I can do that and I don’t have to worry about my inventory being filled up after that I started to grow the surrounding area with a few villagers some Auto farms and just getting all of the basics set up Really focused on building a world though before I started uh expanding into much larger projects one fun step I’ve also started to do here is including world maps of what I create and updating them every few months to preserve the history of the world so you Can see all the way here from episode 3 Way Back In December 20121 through to the latest edition which does need an update of July 2023 it’s grown a little bit but taking a look at this one and comparing it back to the original I can just see how much Progress I made in a second well I can see the difference in a second I didn’t do all that in a I wish I was able to do that in a second that’d be pretty cool now I know I said to start small but that doesn’t mean you can’t set big Massive goals you want to work towards if anything I actually encourage that give yourself something big you want to build up to for example my goal of the hardcore world is to create a fantasy world full of interconnected civilizations which one means I need a lot of different cities towns and Villages and two I need to link those up with roads to connect it all this opens the doors to an unlimited number of projects before you get scared to get started you need to break down your goal down into steps that you can actually reasonably complete I’ve recently fallen In love with using a project list like this one right here as it keeps track of everything in game that I want to do and I put little turtle emojis next to the completed ones for fun my favorite part about this is the crazy project in my brain eventually becomes a reality in The world so whatever you always wanted to do in Minecraft you can do it if you just slowly work towards completing the goal survival Minecraft is about the journey not the destination meaning you should focus on trying to enjoy the process of completing whatever project you’re working on don’t just focus on Getting it done to move on to the next thing this is the same reason why people who cheat in their Minecraft world get burned out more often and quit to restart because they know they cut corners and now the journey is ruined and not worth any more effort now this Does go back to personal accomplishment and just being satisfied with what you’ve been able to do but heck this is also Minecraft so set the rules for yourself if you can’t be bothered to do all the grind work maybe looking at some data packs or mods that will help helps Speed things up like a tree fing data pack to instantly chop trees down for me I added a data pack that gives micro blocks from the wandering Trader so that guy’s actually useful again and I got some extra detail blocks I can mess around with little data packs are Definitely a way to keep things interesting but that won’t solve all your problems with Massa projects things can get very boring doing the same grind for a very long time sometimes we just need to break and place different blocks to get excited about the game again it’s A little weird to be saying that but it’s true for me I know I need multiple projects going on at once that I can jump between in different parts of the world or I get burned out pretty quickly if I get bored of the one I’m working on I can travel to a different project or hop into a different dimension and pick up where I left off on that one about 3 months ago I was feeling the burnout on my medieval city project to get excited about Minecraft again I started something completely new but still on Theme refocusing on my main goal to build an interconnected fantasy world which means I need a lot of different civilizations so I found a desert about 1,500 blocks away and started building new Papyrus a massive project out here to transform the desert into a lush River Basin eventually leading into a Huge desert City theme right over there I wrapped up this Village project and that inspiration tingle for the old city was back I started getting excited to continue working on the medieval city itself and I’m currently in the process of following that inspiration to just See where it takes me all of this allows me to touch on my main goal while still feeling like I can jump around to different projects we can only Force our creativity to focus in one direction for so long sometimes we just need to let it Go wild and kind of just follow along which will eventually lead to your world having so many things going on that you can just create a story for yourself or how everything links together which honestly helps me find new ideas to further that story or you can use the Idea that a picture speaks a thousand words like I do and you can just let the story be up to the person looking at it without you ever having to write down a word about what is actually happening here but allowing your buildings to communicate an idea across like weird Little magic glass thingy sure I might have my own reason for where certain buildings exist in this world and why they exist but some fans have created some really really cool fan art stories telling their own stories about my world that are completely different than what I’ve said are they wrong no could they be true yeah maybe who knows at that point it’s up to whoever’s looking at it now the one thing I do know as a survival Builder is that I need a lot of blocks so sometimes I have no option but To grind out a massive project until a farm is completed I do try to line these up with times where I just don’t have any desire to create any new buildings block breaking has turned into almost a form of meditation therapy for me as I can just zone out and just break Everything in front of me as I’m going now I acknowledge that that can only stay interesting for so long so I do allow myself to use things like TNT duping to speed up the process of removing entire land masses and get back into that building stage yet again what Do you think of this tree I spent a month removing obsidian here I wasn’t about to spend another month breaking endstone Okay so we’ve talked about removing blocks but one important step to a forever world is adding in blocks to make build locations even better yes I’m talking about terraforming you don’t Need to travel 10,000 blocks away for the perfect build location there’s always spaces to build around your current base and expand off of that I how did I end up here if anything I really encourage you to start in one region and grow out from there make your Expansions quick enough that you’re okay to walk back home if you forget some materials say from over there to the house up there but also not so close that you can see one location from the other okay maybe you can see the tree it’s just really really big see no tree We’re at the build tree’s gone no dang it it’s still there but I do love the idea of the tree towering over the entire region so I kind of want to be able to see it from other places and that’s great too now a big part of Minecraft is exploring and that doesn’t Always have to be exploring new chunks you can explore through what you’ve built up already and kind of reliving the process that you went through in designing those spaces earlier except I know that yep yep no interior yep I knew that I didn’t even have to open that Door but I’ll be honest seeing things I built a year or 2 years ago or even longer really gives me a lot of Happiness one to see what I made before and two to kind of compare it to what I’m making now seea I’ve grown as a Builder I’ll be honest a big reason why I keep things so close together is if I have to spend 5 minutes traveling on the nether roof to get back home to my storage room I get so annoyed so I try and keep everything close together within their own regions but somewhere Close that I can get to on the Hub my main base is here right over there we have the end portal that portal I don’t know what it goes to right there we have the desert region and down there we have our ocean Monument all of these things Are pretty close to my central Hub but they definitely still all have their their own regions to exist inside let’s take it back a step here if you’re just getting started how do we go about picking our projects well first I recommend getting a house an enchanting Building some sort of a mine an animal Barn is a good way to go a food source and some sort of a storage room those are kind of the core basics for me then from there you can do anything go get your elytra go get netherite armor or Maybe you can work on a villager trading setup to get super out out super strong before the dragon fight now comes the point where most people quit you have all of the basics done and the player power growth system is complete then now what well then it comes down to what are You excited about in Minecraft Do you want to build Crazy Redstone Farms or maybe you like building castles this can always be a little bit of Bolt I built the mountain in the background over here because I made a gas farm and it was really ugly so I wanted to hide the Output maybe you’re excited for some new update coming to Minecraft that you can start to prepare for now for me I was super excited about the Wild update to make my world feel more full not going to lie I was a little sad when the Birch Forest was not going to be updated so instead of posting about how that sucked I decided to take it as an opportunity to build my own custom Birch forest for how I wish they spawned into the game maybe you love another video game or movie series and want to build something From that or just inspired by it how can you take those ideas from other sources and bring that into what you’re working on and doing now maybe you have your starter base set up and you’re ready to Branch out a bit What biomes are directly surrounding your base could you Expand into one of those and create another base with a different build style I have this snowy area to the north of my spawn eventually I’d love to build a Nordic Village up here along the frozen lake I’m not quite ready to build in a snowy area in Minecraft yet but It’s something I have my back pocket ready to go when I am looking for something this comes back to the project book this list really helps me stay engaged by always having something written down I can work on instead of fumbling around trying to think of what I want to do next even with the perfect project list and all of the options of things to do this game can still be boring or maybe you’re just trying to figure out how to work up that motivation to get something started I know for me once I can get beyond the Hurdle of actually starting something the rest of the pieces do tend to fall in place more easily if that’s not working out and you’re still bored maybe you go work on something else or that means it might be time for a new project or heck I know I know uh what if you Turned off Minecraft you don’t need to live inside this game doing other things and having other experiences is one of the best ways to actually fuel your creativity breaks are also kind of a must if you want to keep a healthy balance and Pace going moving forwards Yes touching grass outside is good for you most of the time now before we get too spooky here about the real World back to minecrafty stuff redoing parts of things that you just don’t really love too much and messing around with that could help you get started again I Really find that once the Creative Energy is moving around it’s a lot easier to keep it moving I threw a lot of words at you today but for real if you’re bored of Minecraft and are looking for the motivation to keep playing especially keep playing in the Same world I hope you found this video helpful remember to focus on keeping a healthy Pace instead of sprinting to the end and don’t be afraid to set big goals that you can work s over time and more importantly be okay with those goals evolving as you go you might fall in Love with a new way of playing Minecraft in a new part of the game dive into that and try and bring that into what you’re doing now the question of I’m bored now what is always going to come up and that’s okay but take a moment to try and Think on why that might be popping up if you’re playing on a server with friends that suddenly turned into a single player world hosted on a server that kind of kills my motivation personally but single player world meant to be a single player world is my favorite way To play this game it’s a little weird but it’s all about the mindset behind how we see the world that we’re playing in let me know in the comments any other thing that you do to stay engaged in this world or if you’re struggling post about where you’re stuck myself in the Community might be able to give you some pointers thank you for listening leave a like on this video
