Hey family what’s going on klaus here and welcome back to yet another mechanism version 10 modded minecraft guide where today we’re going to be discussing how to build one of these babies a fission reactor now if you guys saw my single generator video talking about which generators Were the best then you saw that the gas burning generator in mechanism is by far the very best way to get your power but that’s just a single block structure and mechanism there are multi-block structures and these can produce a lot more power so today we’re going to be discussing How to build one of these things they’re not very complicated but there are a few nuances that you want to keep in mind you also don’t want to try to run this thing because you know as you can see you’re able to go in here and activate you don’t want to do that Until you build the second structure that you need called the turbine okay so do not try to run your fission reactor until you burn your turbine or build your turbine and get it all set up all right just a just a very early warning on that one okay so We’re gonna build uh be building another one of these but we’re not gonna build it near that big this is ridiculous you don’t need this this is the maximum size that you can build in mechanism 18 by 18 by 18 in all three directions today we’re going to do something significantly smaller than That and it all begins with the fission reactor casing now to make this is very simple all you need is a steel casing with four lead ingots on either side you use those and you get four reactor casings to get steel casing you just need steel on all four corners Glass inside the faces and osmium in the center to get steel use a metallurgic infuser i’ve got a video covering that already so uh i’m going to be making let’s just say let’s do do a seven by seven that doesn’t hurt right yeah seven by seven So the bottom layer okay this is three four five six seven must be a solid uh surface right a solid surface of casings so i’m gonna go ahead and set this up i don’t feel like this is a square for some reason i might be off in my measurements but it doesn’t Really matter because this even if it’s just a seven let me see this is uh four yeah that’s a seven and is this a seven no this is a six i knew it i could feel it something was off so we’re gonna add one More layer there you go so now we have a seven by seven now all mechanism machines really start off with a solid base of the casing whatever type it is now the rest is very simple you have to have casings on the quarters so let’s just say this is a fourth uh That’s four five six and seven so i’m making this a seven by seven by seven cube the edges have to be the casings as well so that’s four five six and seven all right we’re gonna do this with all four corners three four five six seven i think i might have gone Uh a little too high on that one three four five six and seven okay so uh creative is nice because you can kind of fly and see yep everything is the right level now the faces can be either casings or reactor glass we’re going to be using reactive glass Because it’s kind of fun to be able to see inside but the way to use that is to get enriched iron which obviously you get your metallurgic infuser lead ingots and any kind of glass it doesn’t have to be stained it’s just any kind of glass and you get Four reactor glass each so i’m going to be filling in the faces with the reactor glass and again this is just a much more aesthetically pleasing way to do it as opposed to doing something like a like a solid surface which again just wouldn’t be as fun so let’s Fill in these faces and obviously leave ourselves a way to you know get out from the front but i’m going to fill in all of the faces here and then of course we have to deal with the top which will look identical to one of the sides where you have the casings On the edges but the facing the faces can be either glass or the casings okay so we got that done i’m going to leave my doorway to get in there obviously and now let’s do the top face now the top face again exactly the same as the side So i’m gonna fill in all the edges and again they have to be all of the edges have to be the casings so we’re gonna go ahead and fill all of these in just like so and then the top can either be glass like the facings that i have now or They can be casings now it’s not quite as important to be able to see uh inside of it from the top because how often are you gonna see it from from above but you know it doesn’t hurt so place this down and there you go the entire structure is now built Obviously except for our little way to get in and out now the next step and this is actually quite important is you’re going to need some fission reactor ports because you might in your math as you calculate what you’re going to need realize that you’re going to need at Least two of these fission reactor ports and these ports are not difficult to make all you need is four reactor casings which you’ve already talked about how to make those the lead in the steel casing and then an elite control circuit which all you have to do is throw in some Reinforced alloy and advanced control circuits you do all of these you make all these things in your metallurgic infuser so you need two of these fission reactor ports which i will set up right now why not all right so i’ll put one over there and put one right there Okay so now you have your ports you have your way to come in with your fuel and then to go out with your coolant and actually i should probably you’re gonna need three of them because you have to come back in with your coolant yeah there you go so let’s Actually make this a little bit more symmetrical okay so now i’ve got the corners so once again you have the uh the fuel that you’re gonna go in with so let’s just uh right click so now we have output waste output coolant input only this is going to be input because The fuel is going in now input only this is going to be the uh this here is going to be output of your coolant and then this up here will be the input of your uh coolant that’s uh that’s been cooled off by your turbine and then the last thing And we’re gonna have to put one more is output for your waste so you have input and output of your fuel input and output of your coolant okay very important we’ll go over that again here shortly the last thing that you need to consider is the fission fuel assemblies okay these are what Actually burns all of your fuel in fact i did forget um you also have to have the control rod assembly so go ahead and select this all right so the control rod assembly and the fission fuel assembly very very important how these are put together easy to make though lead on Either side steel on top and bottom in a basic chemical tank which is just osmium and redstone basic stuff the control rod assembly is steel lead into kind of like the shape of a y with an elite control circuit we’re actually going to start with this control rod assembly so let me grab One of those real quick and allow me to show you the pattern that you should follow i mean you would think okay this is going to be burning fuel i should probably place them down as thick as i can right but this actually produces less efficiency you’re gonna end up spending More uh i guess uh resources making it than than it’s worth so the best way to do this is to do it in a checker board now the control rod assemblies you only need one of them per column and they go on the top of the column So we’ll place these down just like so and now we go with the fission fuel assemblies which again you make with the uh lead steel and the basic chemical tank and now you put the ascent uh you put the control uh vision fuel assemblies right yeah control yeah fission fuel so you Put the fission fuel assemblies underneath the control rod assemblies but you do more than one you actually fill in the entire column to the ground so i’ll show you guys this on the outside as well but let me just fill this in so i can show you That this is in fact the proper way to build it and the number of these fission fuel assemblies that you use will determine your burn rate how many millibuckets of your fissile fuel you can burn per tick it’s all dependent on how many of these things that you have so you Might want to go bigger or smaller all depending on that so now you saw that red which means it is now set up and ready to go so once again you don’t want your fish and fuel assemblies to be all together you want them to be straddling never touching on The faces just on the edges and you can go as high as you want with these fissile fuel assemblies but you have to put a control rod assembly on top of that that is how it has to look even if it’s just one there you go that’s what you have to have So in my seven by seven i have a five by five by five cube of fissile fuel assemblies with control rod assemblies on the top so now to actually set this thing up and get it going the first thing that you want to do is start pumping in some water so i’m Going to go ahead and grab a creative fluid tank for water i’m gonna set this down just like so i do actually need some pipes to start uh pumping the water actually you know what i think i actually have to have a pump because there’s no pressure in a tank You actually have to pump it up with pressure so i’m going to set to this down just like so place down this pipe and then turn on the pipe to where it will actually pull the water out so i’m not going to have it to push i’m going to have it to Pull and then i have to have an energy cube and i’ll just you know make an uh creative energy cube just so that we have to worry about it running out of power and place that down just like so so now uh as long as it’s set to output and it is This should be receiving power and now all i need to do is add a water source no problem right so there you go so now it is in this um cooler to input port it is now bringing water into the fission reactor now obviously you want to upgrade this And make it faster and more energy efficient but for now it’s just for demonstration the coolant is going into the fission reactor you want to build your turbine next and you want to wait until this thing is fully maxed out and full before you run it it needs to be full of Water or if you want to do the advanced version you can cool it with sodium but that requires a third building called a boiler we’ll talk about that later in a future video obviously now the fuel that you need is called fissile fuel and of course i have a creative chemical Tank with fissile fuel in it i have not done a video on how to make fissile fuel so if that sounds like something that you would be interested in let me know in the comments so i’m going to grab a pressurized tube and slap that baby down just like so and I think it should be set yeah to output on the top so now our fissile fuel is now filling up as well so now i’ve got the coolant and the fissile fuel filling up and that’s what you need you’re going to be burning the fissile fuel and it gets hot so you Have to have your coolant now we’re going to be sending out the water as steam because this other side has heated coolant so the water gets turned into steam the steam is going to be sent into the turbine which again we’re going to build later And then it will bring the water back in so what’s so cool about this system is that once you fill it up with water it’s a closed system you don’t have to worry about adding in water once it’s absolutely 100 full the turbine will receive the steam it’ll spin the turbine that’s Actually what makes the power by the way this doesn’t make any power uh all it does is make uh you know the radioactive waste which is something that you definitely want and uh you’re gonna wanna uh get this and you’re gonna wanna put it in a waste Barrel so let me just show you that real quick we have a radioactive waste barrel which is just steel in the corners lead ingots on the uh on the sides there and you get your radioactive waste barrel put it down and there you go that is a Place where the radioactive waste can go if it accumulates in here it’s okay but if it fills up and maxes out then it could cause this fission reactor to explode you don’t want that to happen so definitely be careful also once you activate this thing it it’ll get hotter obviously but if you Have enough water you’re good if you don’t have enough water it will start to heat up and if it gets to the point to where it starts to take damage and this can happen extremely extremely fast it might explode as well so you want to be very Very careful now one thing you can do is set up a fission reactor logic adapter which is simple redstone with a fission reactor casing plug that baby in there anywhere and then turn it uh tell it to power down this machine once it gets to a temperature that’s too high And then you’re good it’ll turn itself off and you don’t have to worry about it exploding so uh guys i think that pretty much covers the fission reactor today next time we’re going to be talking about the turbine and um you know how how to set that baby up And also get into more details on you know how to figure out how big actually with the turbine you don’t want you basically want to go as big as you possibly can because this fission reactor although it’s only seven by seven by seven can probably keep a actually let’s look Yeah so we can handle uh 52 burn rate so uh it’s not maxed out for a turbine i think a regular turbine can handle up to like a 200 burn rate so if you were to make this about four times bigger then a maxed out turbine which is 18 by Uh well 17 by 17 by 18 is um is it’s going to be plenty so a little basically a little fission reactor can keep a maximum sized uh uh turbine completely uh occupied if you will so you know just something to think about next time guys we’ll be covering how to Uh build the turbine and then how to run these things together so in the meantime i’m gonna allow this coolant tank to fill up in fact it would be easiest let me see speed upgrades yeah i’m showing you guys this because this is absolutely essential if you want water to happen Shift right click and there you go i believe now it is 100 maxed out eight out of eight so now you’ll see this is filling up way way faster and you can even put more than one of these ports and plug in more than one of these pumps and fill this up even
