Hey guys it’s your favorite treattuber forest here and today i’m going to be showing you how to create a texture pack that uses item names to make a custom texture for an item so first what you’re going to want to do is you’re going to want to go to this Website right here um i’ll put the link in the description and you’re going to want to download preferably this version because it has the most items but whatever version you’re working with i guess would be the best and once you have that downloaded you open the texture pack and then you take Out the um they take out the items folder which will give you oh i just closed it it’ll give you a folder kind of like this save all the items here you can also do this with blocks or whatever you want to retexture but i recommend doing items Because that’s the easiest to rename and that’s what this is going to be the tutorial about so here we’re going to be able to take the texture of an item and add it to another item so let’s go into my percent after percent folder dot minecraft uh resource packs Okay so once you open your resource pack what you’re going to need to do is i’ll leave a base pack in the description like a template pack but you’re going to need obviously packed imc button on a pack.png and then an assets folder and in assets you’re going to need to Create a folder called minecraft you can slow this down if you need so uh in your pack you have pac.mcmeta which i’ll leave in the description i’ll leave all this as a template in the description as a file but back to mcmahon pack.png then assets then minecraft and then inside you need Some a folder called optifine so you need to have optifine to for this to work instead of defining you need to create a folder called cit and inside that you can create all of your items so i’m just gonna create a new folder and call it um How about diamond shovel i need to format it like this so whatever you want the item name to be that is changed you need to name it like that so actually i already have one so i’m just gonna delete this old folder i just made so we’re gonna go into the diamond Shovel folder you just created and you’re gonna wanna pull whatever so whatever you named this year you’re going to want to pull that from there so let’s say diamond shovel is what you want to rename a wooden shovel to for it to become diamond so you’re going to need to create a new Text file i already have one here but i’ll just show what it’s like to create a new text document you name it whatever your item is without spaces so diamond shovel and then you change the dot txt you say dot properties i can’t do that right now Because you know i already have one in here name the same thing but obviously yeah that will work for you and then you need to put this in and name it diamond underscore shovel but that’s already what it should be named a texture pack if you got it from the same one reason You need the texture pack is because it generally has to be 16 x 16 or it can corrupt then you’re going to want to open your dot properties folder and i’m going to put all this in the description as a template but what you have to do is You have to type equals item match items equals whatever item you want to match so if i wanted to be able to rename a wooden shovel diamond shovel and then have it look like the diamond shovel i put in there then match items would be wooden shovel texture equals Diamond shovel dot png the same name as this item mbt.display.name equals i pattern equals diamond shovel you have to put spaces here it can’t be an underscore this is exactly what you’ll have to name the item keep in mind the caps and everything has to be exactly this way Then when you’re done you’re going to exit out and you’re going to open up your game okay so here i’m on my server and um as you can see here’s the other items if you look at the bottom it says minecraft warp fungus on a stick but it looks like Another sword and i know i hold it a bit weird but that’s because it’s a carrot on a stick so it’s a little weird um but we’re gonna pull out our wooden shovel and as you can see it looks normal at a first glance okay And if we pull out an anvil and we rename it to exactly how it was same caps and everything although caps doesn’t matter in the thing it has to be lowercase so if we name it diamond shovel it’ll turn to diamond as you can see the caps doesn’t matter but it does In the file it has to be all lowercase so let’s name it diamond shovel and as you can see our wooden shovel at the bottom it says minecraft wooden shovel now looks like a diamond shovel so yeah i hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial if you want me to do any other Items or talk about what it’s like to have an item within chance then um yeah just comment and i’ll certainly check it out thank you bye Video Information

Things you need to know: Apparently, this only works in optifine 1.19.1, and the other versions of optifine have some kind of bug or something similar. This works with Hypixel Skyblock. This only works on Java edition. Coloured items and items with different caps still need to be written in all lowercase in the .properties file.
What to put in .properties (if this is too much or you don’t understand, just get the template below.) Things listed in all caps are changeable. (all caps as in like “CAPS LOCK”, not “Caps Lock”.
type=item matchItems=ITEM YOU’RE TRYING TO CHANGE (example: wooden_shovel) texture=THE EXACT FILE NAME (COUNTING THE .PNG AFTER) (example: diamondshovel.png) nbt.display.Name=ipattern:WHAT YOU WANT TO NAME THE ITEM (CAN CONTAIN SPACES) (example: diamond shovel)
