Story progression in The Sims can be kinda wild, like ever since Sims got the ability to decide to have kids on their own, it’s been interesting, to say the least. And then when you combine the in-game story progression with MC Command Center story progression, things get really wild. So long story short, one of my Sim’s literally has 11 kids and she kind of needs a bigger house. So today we are attempting to build a house that fits 13 Sims. Now obviously this is a little bit unusual, like generally you would never need something Like this, you know, considering the fact the max household size is eight Sims by default, but through a series of unfortunate events and also some unfortunate mod settings, I’ve ended up with 13, so here we are. If it makes you feel any better, I’m not actually playing with these Sims, These are just like, distant relatives of my legacy challenge. But basically my Sim’s aunt just keeps having babies. We keep getting the pop-up where she like, calls and it’s like, hey, should I have another kid? And I keep saying yes because like, why not, but this has been happening for so long in my game. To give you some context, this Sim’s sister is dead. Like, she died of old age, but Penelope, the one who keeps having babies, is still only an adult. Penelope’s wife has died of old age, and a bunch of Penelope’s kids are adults themselves now. When Sims are pregnant they don’t age because pregnant Sims can’t die so like, every time Penelope gets pregnant, it adds basically three days to her life, and she’s been pregnant 11 times. So she’s basically immortal at this point. This like, might as well be a 100 Bbby challenge at this point. Unfortunately I think it might be done now that her wife Emily has died because she can’t get pregnant anymore, but that doesn’t mean she won’t like, adopt them or something. I don’t know, MC Command Center is wild. This might have happened to you before, if you’ve got that enabled in the mod where like, Don Lothario all of a sudden has like, 10 kids with like, eight different people, but this one was half my fault because they did Keep calling asking if they should have more babies and I just kept saying yes. So essentially we have to try and fit a lot of Sims into this house. Now my idea for this was kind of simple, I wanted to basically build like, A really big, cozy family house, but one that had a lot of bedrooms, and all of those bedrooms would have two beds in them so that we could fit enough Sims. I actually only used the base game for this house as well. I don’t really know why I did that because it’s not like anybody’s gonna want to play in this, at least in its current state, but it is base game as like, an additional bonus feature, I suppose. Oh, I forgot to mention, the reason that I can have so many Sims in my Household is also because of MC Command Center. I set the household size up to 24 as the max limit instead of eight. I did this because a few months ago I was doing a charity stream on my Twitch channel and I decided to do this thing where every time we raised a thousand dollars, I would add an extra toddler into my household. So I put the household size way up in hopes of you know, having room to grow, And it’s a good thing that I did because we ended up raising $23,000 for Saint Jude that day in one day, so I had 23 toddlers and one adult Sim there. And I was also playing in just a starter home, By the way, and I just kept like, expanding it to add beds in the back. It was a disaster. Well anyway, I haven’t changed my household size back since then and that was in May, and now we have this happening. Like, now my Sim has decided to have 11 babies. Also um, okay, how do I say this. There’s only 10 kids in this household right now. So there’s the 10 kids, mom, and that’s it, there’s 11 Sims. Obviously her wife Emily used to be here, and there used to be one more kid. The kid’s not dead, it just disappeared because if you go into CAS when you have more than eight Sims in your household, it deletes one of them. And I did that when I had nine Sims. Didn’t realize, and then one of the babies was um, gone. They’re not dead, they just never existed, as far as the game is concerned. So I did you know, put a bassinet in the house sort of as a replacement for the Sim that has left us, but uh yeah, there’s not currently actually 11 kids living here. And then other slight disclaimer, they’re also not all kids, like, a lot of these Sims are literally adults now, not even young adults, but adults. I still decorated the house as if it had kids living here, so it has like, a bunch of kids bedrooms and one toddler bedroom. And I just felt like that was more fun than like, decorating a house for like, a you know, 40 something year old Sim. And with all of that disclaimer finished, let’s actually talk about the house for a second. So with this one, I was trying to use some swatches of like, Wallpaper that I never really use. For example, one of the base game bricks has like, a brown painted swatch. I never use that. I don’t think I’ve ever used the brown painted brick before, and I thought it Might be kind of fun to try and build a house that could fit in that brown painted brick. I paired it with like, a brown paneled wallpaper and also like, a stucco color. I think it looks kind of good, and then the main like, kind of cool Feature on the outside is this house has a garage. It’s a fake garage, it’s not a real garage obviously because it’s The Sims 4, but I wanted to have something to make it look a little bit more interesting so it’s got like, the diagonal piece of garage coming out on the side. I turned that “garage” into just a bedroom on the inside, it’s the primary bedroom on the first floor. So it’s not really a garage, but you can pretend, and that’s what I did. I did put a fake car from debug in the driveway, Just to kind of like, fill in the yard a little bit. And I will say, I am extremely proud of the landscaping on this one. I feel like that driveway really fills in the space on the lot, and I added in like, A little fake fence and some more decor, there’s like, some gnomes and stuff, but I felt like the whole thing really came together really nicely. I forget at which point in the video it happens, but I had one of the weirdest Terrain paint glitches I have ever seen happen when I was building this house. So I genuinely don’t really understand how this is even possible because I know that there’s a lot of terrain paint glitches, like generally the one that I’m used to is it just deleting the terrain paint. Sometimes when you reload into the lot, the terrain paint just disappears which I’ve seen, like I’m familiar with this, it’s been happening for years. But in the backyard, I was trying to make a little sand pit. I wanted to have like, A lot of kids toys and like, playground stuff in the yard because we have so many kids. So I put like, one of the giant boat playground thingies, and I put a little sand pit because when you have Island Living, your Sims can like, actually play in the sand and build Sandcastles and stuff, so I made like, just a box and I filled it with sand terrain paint. And I was gonna put like, some toys and stuff in there basically, nothing too fancy, but kind of a cute addition. Well, I put a fence around it first and then my Twitch chat was like, Oh, you should try to put a half wall instead, see how that looks. So I switched the fence to a half wall, and that proceeded to change all of the terrain paint in the backyard to sand. So I had made like, a big back patio using that same gravel that’s in the Driveway in the backyard, it changed the entire back gravel into sand. It deleted the front gravel, and it kept all of the dirt. You’ll see it in the video, I genuinely do not understand how this is possible because it like, deleted one thing, changed another, and then kept a third option. And I guess the part that I find so confusing is like, how did it delete the front yard terrain paint, but then like, change the backyard terrain paint? And why did it change the backyard terrain paint into sand? Like, how? How? How? I don’t know. I didn’t even notice that it had happened until I was like, going to like, furnish the patio, and I was like, now hang on. Now why is this patio sand because I did not do that. For some reason half walls and terrain paint are really buggy in this game. The terrain paint obviously has like, so many weird glitches, but the half walls cause some weird things too, like I think it’s the half wall’s fault that the terrain paint bugged like that. And I don’t know if you’ve seen, but sometimes when you try to place a half wall, Or paint a half wall inside the house, it’ll like, delete your clutter objects if you’ve like, placed clutter on the kitchen counter and then you try and put a half wall down, it’ll delete the kitchen clutter even though the half wall is not in the kitchen. It’s really, really weird, there is some very strange Sims bugs these days, but whatever. At least they’re usually fixable. The terrain paint one was really annoying though because I had to redo the whole thing. Okay, now floor plan-wise and like, interior furnishing-wise, I wanted to have again, as many bedrooms as I could. I managed to fit six and I think that like, for playability, this is actually a really good layout. There’s four bedrooms upstairs, and I think three bathrooms. Two of them have ensuites and then one of them has like, a Jack and Jill bathroom shared by the other two bedrooms. And I put all of the kids and like, teen rooms upstairs, up there. And then downstairs, we have the primary bedroom and the toddler bedroom, so when you’re actually playing, it would be a lot easier to like, bathe the toddlers and not have them have to go upstairs. I even put in high chairs which I never ever do, I actually find high chairs really annoying for gameplay so I like, intentionally don’t use them because I think it’s easier to not have to, but I did put some of those in and then there’s two more bathrooms downstairs, There’s like a hall bathroom for everyone to use and an ensuite for the primary bedroom. So in total, it is a six bedroom, five bathroom house. It’s got a lot of amenities like a big kitchen and all that cool backyard stuff. I don’t know why I’m doing a sales pitch like a real estate agent, but it is a nice house. And color scheme-wise, I had this idea that I wanted the main living space to be kind of neutral. I’ve been doing a lot of like, really colorful builds recently so I thought That it might be fun to have the main living space be very neutral color scheme, almost as like, an oasis amongst all of these kids. Like, maybe the mom has insisted that the living space has to be very clean and comfortable and Cozy, and then in the bedrooms, the kids can just go wild with decor, she doesn’t care. I think I’m also drawing inspiration from the fact that this family used to live in that 50 by 50 lot in the base game, just like the default — I think it’s called Oakenstead, That lot, just with the default house that’s there. Which by the way, did not have enough bedrooms. It had like, three bedrooms. Not enough space for all these kids. So I was kind of drawing inspiration from like, that sort of fancy mansion vibe. And then in the Kids rooms, I put like a bunch of toys everywhere, like really bright colors. I even had them have matching ensuite bathrooms, so there’s like a pink kid’s room and a pink bathroom attached to it. So the upstairs is way more exciting than the downstairs is. And um, we’re doing that terrain paint that I talked to you about now. I don’t know if you can see, but it changed all of that paint to sand and watching this back, it looks like it happened before I even placed the half walls. So I must have like, misunderstood, but like, You can tell that it changed all my terrain paint in the backyard to the sand. I used gravel, why did that happen? And then here I am noticing it. I like, genuinely could not believe this when I streamed this build. I was like, how is this even possible? Because the dirt is all still there. So it didn’t change all of the terrain paint, it just changed some of it. I don’t know, I guess maybe it’s not actually the half wall’s fault, so is it like, the terrain paint’s fault or the floorings fault? I Idon’t know. And then it deleted the driveway, just gone, but the dirt’s all still there. I really genuinely do not understand this. Have you seen this? Has this happened to anybody else because like, this is new to me, And I build a lot in this game and I’ve never had this happen before. Luckily it didn’t take too long to fix because I had already like, done all of the shaping of it and like, I just had to put the paint back into like, the holes between the plants essentially. But it was still really weird, it’s just — I don’t know. I find it very shocking that we’ve had these terrain paint bugs like, since the game came out. This is not new. I mean, this one’s new, but like the other one with just deleting terrain paint in General, that’s been happening for years, and it just is that way. It’s never gonna change, our life is just like this. Anyway I’m furnishing the sand pit now and I tried to make this really cute. I tried to put a lot of toys out here because I was kind Of envisioning that maybe the average person might use this house for like, a 100 baby challenge or something, just maybe with like, eight Sims instead of 13, and so I tried to make there be a lot of toys and things that were useful for that. I also made like, a little custom tea party out in the backyard. I like lined up a bunch of toys like teddy bears and ladybugs and stuff around a little table and put a tea set on it, because I loved the idea of the kids pretending they were having a tea party. Basically I intend to use this house to visit my family members because I have this legacy challenge that I’m playing right now. I would like to be able to come here and use their toys, so I put a lot of them. And now we’re moving back inside, you can see I cut out the bathrooms because it took me a very long time, I was being kind of silly, but basically the bathrooms, I made each of them a Different color of the same tile so there’s like, a pink one, a green one, and a blue one upstairs. I guess blue is not the right word, it’s more of like, an aqua. It’s very bright. And then downstairs I use the same tile again, but I did like, A beige one in the hallway, and then like, a light blue one in the bedroom. I really liked the idea of each bathroom being a little bit different, I feel like I never do that because I don’t usually care about bathrooms all that much. In this house I actually tried with the bathrooms a little bit more which is new for me. I guess I just have in my head that it’s like this tiny room that my Sims are never in and I always play with the walls cut away so I can’t even see it really. So I kind of just put like, the default, you know, necessary functions in there and then like, call it a day. There’s a toilet, there’s a shower, you know, it’s fine, but in here, I tried to add some personality at least. So we have one like, sort of pink and blue themed bedroom. This one I was sort of picturing as being a kids bedroom. I put a lot of toys and like, some cute decor and stuff. We have one that’s all green, and I liked this room a lot because I was sort of thinking it would be more of a teens room. The green is a little bit much. Like, there’s a lot of green, but I used loft beds in here and I used two loft beds and I kind of placed them in a way that like, gives each kid kind of their own side of the room almost. I wanted the kids to feel like they had their own space, so they each had a loft, they each had a desk under it, and then I tried to put like, some clutter that might fit their personality. So I pictured one was into music and one was into art, so one side has like, an easel and some like, little artsy decor, and the other side has like, a little guitar and some posters and stuff. This is also just good for like, skill building in general, if you did happen To use this house for a baby challenge, there is plenty of space for skill building in here. And I will say that in my experience, usually with this sort of challenge, I think it’s nice to have more beds than you actually need. I would probably change one of the bedrooms and do an extra toddler bedroom or like, put more toddler beds downstairs or something because sometimes you might have four toddlers and three teens, or you might have six children, you know? Like, when you’re playing a baby challenge, things are constantly changing, So it’s good to have extra just so you don’t need to keep renovating everything. Oh gosh, okay, this yellow and blue bedroom that I’m doing right now with the yellow walls and that like, black and blue furniture, my Twitch chat hated. They were like this is the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen, the color scheme is weird. Kayla, you suck. They really did not like this bedroom, I kind of liked it. I was really trying to do like, different bedroom color schemes that I don’t usually do because I wanted to branch out, you know? I’ve been trying to like, use the base game in different ways, and so I thought I’ve never used this bed with this wall, let’s try it. Oh no, chat did not like that. I still think it looks okay, but they thought it was like, Really weird to have the light yellow walls and the dark beds. I don’t know, I think it’s fine and it’s not that deep, but it’s okay if you don’t like it, I understand because I’ve heard it. But I pictured that bedroom could be like, I don’t know, It could be like, a teens room or a kids room. And then this last one, this lighter blue room, I ended up making it very blue and orange, and I thought this was like, definitely a kids room. I tried to use like, every different bed option that we had, So I was using a lot of the different swatches and stuff. Luckily there actually is a pretty wide variety of like, kids furniture in the base game these days which is kind of nice, it’s really fun looking back On this and seeing like, how much the base game has changed since it first came out. Obviously those beds that I used in the pink room and that blue and yellow room are both new, sort of. They’re actually from Parenthood, but then they made them base game, so I don’t know, That’s nice because there’s more base game beds. I’d love to see even more base game beds, but you know, I’ll wait. Or at least just more base game bed swatches. I need to stop because I Get on this every time I do a speed build, but like, if they were to just update some of those base game beds with a few more swatches, my life would be so much better. It would improve everything, I would really, really love that Sims team, if you could just do some recolors. Some really simple ones, like solid color, not even pattern. Just like, some solid color plain swatches in a few colors, some pastels, some dark color, I need like, a few more options, okay? Anyway, this last bedroom is the toddler bedroom. I tried to use the little race car beds in like, A green and orange color because I don’t know if I’ve ever used those in that color, and the whole room is like, very green and orange basically. I put a bunch of toys in here too. I just wanted to make sure the kids didn’t have to like, go up And down the stairs because toddlers are so bad at that, but that is pretty much the entire house. I actually cut out the primary bedroom from this video because it took me so long. I tried like, four different color schemes so I’m Gonna pop into the game now and give you like, a proper tour. It’s always kind of hard to see when it’s like, sped up and spinning around so much, so now we can like, actually take a look at it and I can show you those bathrooms and stuff. So it’s called the 13 Sim Family Home on the gallery. I placed it on this lot kind of diagonally across from the Goth family if that helps you locate it. Oh no, the whole thing’s on a platform so now my columns look weird, hang on, let me try to fix it really fast. Okay, well here is the finished exterior. I really, really like how the front of this house looks. I’m like, genuinely very proud of it. I don’t really adore how the garage looks, I tried to do a fake garage door and I tried to use different windows than I normally would, But this is just kind of not the vibes. I did it with just the base game and it’s on a diagonal which really did not help. When I’m doing builds with packs, I’ve used this door from Snowy Escape instead and this I feel like looks way more like a garage door. Oh, the platform does not help, okay, well, I couldn’t have used this anyway, but I do think that that looks pretty good as a fake garage door sometimes. I am just destroying this entire house, but like, look, it doesn’t really clip, And it looks like a door and it also functions like a door. So that’s kind of a pro tip if you have Snowy Escape, but for our purposes, that does not help because this is base game and diagonal and on a platform. Anyway, when you come up this little pathway, We’ve got a little wraparound porch right here, I put like a chess table and stuff. Oh no, the wallpaper is messed up, it deleted my column. Ugh. I’m telling you, these bugs are so weird. Why did it delete my columns when I placed the wallpaper? That makes absolutely no sense, but again, whatever. When you first walk in, there’s like a little entryway, nothing too fancy, just a small little hallway where the stairs are. And then you come through that archway into the kitchen, dining, living space, it’s all kind of one room. We have the kitchen back here, I really like how this sort of fit into the nook. I felt like this whole floor plan kind of came together really nicely. I sort of expected to struggle more, but I think with how the house is shaped, There’s a lot of like, natural spaces that kind of make sense as the different rooms. So this is kind of like, the perfect size for a kitchen, this table fit here so nicely, so it seemed like the floor plan came together really easily. I used a lot of like, neutral colors and beiges in this living space. I even put some toys over here and like, kind of on the coffee table to make it seem like the kids have been playing out here. Back here in the “garage,” it’s actually the primary bedroom and again, I cut this out because it took me so long to decide on a color scheme. I still don’t like this, but it’s fine. My poor dear Penelope has her own fireplace, she’s got a huge ensuite bathroom, And I put a bunch of toddler potties in here too because there’s a bunch of Sims here, she’s probably doing some potty training in this room, but she’s got like, a tub and a shower. I also put a little bassinet in the corner because we don’t have a baby’s room and I Figured it’s very possible that she or any Sim that you’re playing with, might have a baby when they have this many kids already. Because I was kind of going for like, one 100 baby challenge vibes, so I put a bassinet there. For that challenge, I’d probably put two, or maybe even three, but we have one. And then we have a little hall bathroom, nothing too fancy, and this is the toddlers room. I used some things I never use, I always kind of forget about these little shelves, but this shelf Is base game and it is so cute, there’s like, so many good swatches on this, highly recommend. I should use it way more often than I do. And then when you go upstairs, there’s a tiny little hallway and then a bunch of bedrooms, so we’ll start over here in the pink one. We’ve got two beds, a bunch of pink decor, they also have a laptop which is kind of nice and they have a little tiny pink and yellow ensuite bathroom. I really did have fun with the bathrooms in this house. I put this little bonsai tree so you can do some more skill building, And then we have that green bedroom I was talking about. So over here we have like, the artsy side. They have like, some pencils and a little artist tablet and like, an easel and stuff. And then over here is like, the musician side, So they have a guitar and some posters and like, a laptop and stuff. Also Baby Yoda and a crying mirror, it just felt like it fit so I added it. And they have a green and yellow ensuite bathroom. I also used this little mirror, I never use this, but it kind of works. And then down the hallway we have that yellow and black room that everybody hated so much, but I still kind of like, I still kind of think it’s cute. This one is supposed to be maybe a teens room, maybe a kids room, could kind of go either way. And then they have a shared bathroom with their siblings, so there’s two doors in here in between both the rooms. And then the younger siblings maybe have this sort of like, blue and yellowy, I don’t know, it’s kind of a random color scheme, but it sort of works. So in total, eight Sims can sleep upstairs, two Sims in the toddler room, two Sims in the bedroom, that makes 12, plus a baby, 13. This my friends is — oh, the backyard, sorry. I was gonna say this is a house for 13 Sims, no, we have a backyard too. Okay, so anyway, you come out the back door, we’ve got like, a woodworking table and a bench. Over here there’s another back door off the dining room that just has like, a bench and another trash can. I also managed to put a hot tub back here, there’s like, Some lounge chairs, we have a table and a grill, there’s a little garden, we have the pirate ship, and we have that little sand pit that I made. I tried to put a bunch of toys out here, with my little tea set I was Imagining the Sims might sit here and here in the empty spaces and they could play. Obviously that’s pretend, they can’t, but you know, it’s a good story. They can play with these toys, and they can also use this. I wanted to put the science table outside because then it hopefully Wouldn’t light anything inside on fire, and I stand by that choice. A lot of my Twitch chat was mad about that being outside too, but I kind of like it. Anyway, that, my friends, is a house for 13 Sims. Like I mentioned, it is base game, So if you wanted to download it and like, delete a few beds to play in, you totally could. Or potentially, if you also have like, MC Command Center and a random Sim in your save who just keeps having babies, might be good for them. But on that note, I am going to end this video right here. Thank you so much for watching. If you like Sims videos like this, I play The Sims literally every day here on YouTube, and I also stream The Sims all the time on Twitch.
