ilmango – Minecraft News: 1.17pre3 New Spawning Conditions For Glow Squid

[Applause] Hey guys welcome back to another snapshot video today i’m going to report on the changes in 1.17 pre-release number three there was already a release yesterday but i didn’t make a video about it because there was only a couple of bug fixes that weren’t too interesting in terms of gameplay changes

What was interesting was that moching also announced a release date for 1.17 it’s already in seven days on june 8th so let’s talk about the first change this will affect all types of mobs that get attacked by goats they will no longer retaliate as you can see here the

Vindicators get ramped by the goats but don’t bother fighting back anymore also the iron golems over here get attacked by the goats and don’t fight back so one direct consequences you can now use goals for any type of mob form really to kill the the mobs especially if you use the

Screaming goats that are a bit more aggressive um yeah there’s no chance that your goat population will be reduced over time also the natural gold population that would spawn in mountain biomes also won’t be decimated over time anymore foster most spawn and get attacked at night for example

Next talking point axolotl and glow squid spawning since their spawning conditions have changed so previously the conditions for them to spawn was below sea level and they should have a non-water block above so the non-water block condition was added to brandon just from spawning in normal rivers and

Oceans so if you look at any of the water blocks here there is not a non water block above there’s basically a second height map kept track of that but then he had situations like this one here parts of a tree were hanging over the river now we had a leaf block above

So glow squid were able to spawn right here so once you want to prevent it and make sure that glow squid and axolotl would only spawn in caves instead so they added two new conditions first condition was that they could only spawn absolute darkness so sky light level zero

And the second condition is below their spawning space there should be um a natural stone block so like normal stone and decide deep slate and so on so we can maybe head underground we can find an example um let’s see oh yeah okay here we got a ravine

So if we look at this water block here next to the stone block so the light level is zero it means the squid could spawn but there needs to be an uh stone block a natural stone block at least five blocks under the spawning position which isn’t

The case here so the glasgow axolotl couldn’t spawn here but they could for example spawn in those lower water blocks here you can also check that out in the creative world just last week i was working on a glow squid farm and previously it basically was enough to have a normal squid form

Because you also had closed grid spawning in there in case you had a block above the water blocks so this is no longer enough will also be kind of hard to adjust this form to work with closed grid since we need the stone blocks below

Let’s maybe try to set up an area where we could force the glow squid to spawn as you can see we don’t have a single axolotl or glow squid in this area if i would replace the iron blocks of stone blocks that should change immediately there we go we got glow squid and

There’s some accidental on the side here so those new spawning conditions will definitely make it a bit more tricky to make a farm for his glow squid usually it was enough to basically build a squid form then he also had some glow squid spawning in there now i probably need to

Make an extra form and you also couldn’t just use fall damage to kill them so it would be definitely a bit more tricky there’s one more topic i want to talk about it wasn’t really mentioned in a patch notes so i would assume it is a bug the hostility between mobs in peaceful

Difficulty was completely changed so there’s a couple of mobs that really don’t like each other for example the polar bear would always attack the fox the fox in return would attack attack chickens wolves will be fighting yamas and so on none of this applies anymore in peaceful difficulty as you can see

The polar bear is no longer interested in the fox um there’s a couple of those examples we have a chicken here and a fox they also not would have fox also is not hosted or was the chicken anymore um and basically all the hostility between the animals was removed here’s

Another example snow golem also is no longer interested in fighting a striker in peaceful difficulty let’s compare this with the snapshot just from a couple of weeks ago so this difficulty peaceful here and ocelot would immediately attack a chicken the polar bear would still

Try to hunt the fox and if you have a snow golem he would try to attack the shoika but i think there was also always a buck the shulker never tried to fight back despite being attacked would be kind of nice if that’s also the case because

Then we could make a shahika far more peaceful as well so one requirement for schuylkill farmers are shaka bullets and there’s currently no known way to get those in peaceful so since this change wasn’t really mentioned in the patch notes i would assume that it is a bug was probably a

Side effect of changing some other mob behavior for example the mobs no longer attacking the goats when being attacked so i hope this will be restored to the normal behavior again and peaceful that’s all for today thanks guys for watching and see you next time bye [Applause] [Applause] You
