MINECON 2015 Costume Competition

Ladies and gentlemen please welcome vue and martin hello i forgot to wait for the music to quiet down hello everyone you may recognize this guy hello hi here we are at minecon 2015 costume contest what we didn’t really tell people is that this is actually the semifinals oh okay yeah so tonight

During the live show which no one really knows what it is do you know what it is i’ve heard rumors okay i’ve heard that parts are known but we’ve never seen the whole embellished product shhh don’t tell people that well tonight we will have the final five

And we will do the final part of the costume contest tonight but here today we have a massive it’s hard to see but we have a massive line of people who have dressed up in their saturday best to be here and show you their love for minecraft

Wow oh i was wondering like hello let’s see so we have our panel of judges who are going to come up right now please join us judges and what we’re looking for in a costume as any good judge knows is creativity and how much work and love you see in

The product that they created have you seen any good ones yet martin yeah i kind of had a walk down the line i’ve seen leds um i’ve seen kind of like group costumes as well they’re quite like tightening it in together so i’m excited it’s quite dark over there so

I’ve not had too many spoilers yet no i think we should keep it dark so we don’t shadow some smoke over there and judges so what are you guys going to be looking for when judging this costume contest oh hello hello hey yeah they’re mike’s lydia can speak for everybody it’s fine hello

Testing testing there we go so what were you saying creativity creativity yeah i mean just the sort of the work that goes into it and everybody’s just putting amazing just thoughts and it’s just i love it i’ve seen like there’s like dragon costumes and entertainment costumes so it’s just the creativity

Sorry it’s not very uh original i’ll go with originality so nothing wrong he said it right at the end all right well we’re going to start bringing people up and here’s the thing you’re going to be here for a while there are a lot of people who are going

To come up so we can save our applause for towards the end so your hands are not totally beaten together by the end of this otherwise you the applause would just kind of go down naturally but not due to lack of enthusiasm so we’re going to bring people up we may

Talk to them a little bit about their costume if they can’t talk through the costume we may not do that there’s a lot of helmets there are a lot of helmets so we’ll see how that works but let’s start bringing people up i already feel like i want to run away

Off the stage right now already whoa look at this even the legs work if i was in a dark criminal i saw those two piercing bulbs i’d be terrified that’s amazing come on this way close to our table i’m going to guide you a little bit

Right up here let’s come right up here that’s amazing i love the find a step take care excellent that’s perfect well okay i almost said give a round of applause but i had just told you not to do that but seriously awesome first contact costume all right lydia says to let you applause

Let’s do this oh my god so good do you guys have anything to light up eyes those eyes are terrifying in the best way possible my favorite part is the the feet because they kind of flop when he moves it’s the best that is awesome that is so cool all

This family oh really i had to take a picture of them quite sneakily uh during the opening ceremony well hello guys so what is the theme of this costume diamond casual wear tiny casual wear excellent well come on up to the front of the stage all together here

It’s so cool how long did it take to put all of these together how long did it take to put all of these together actually this was made by my good friend kathy jones of god save the queen fashions in atlanta and it took about three weeks wow and that’s for the

All four of them as a whole that is brilliant well then how long did it take you to put it all on so 30 minutes okay judges well i can’t be that i i’m a kind of biased judge in this case because it’s friends but adorable i love it

The family that plays together stays together yeah i love that everybody’s matching i like how um uh the kids have shorts but but you have pants it’s awesome and i’m digging your crinoline i like it i love it thank you guys and good to see you this is dedication wow wow

Oh my god this is amazing i’m just gonna i’m just gonna lie down here for a second here we go how’s it how’s it going down here oh it’s good yeah how long did this uh costume take to put together about two weeks and i think the most important

Question is how did you tackle the stairs just then um it was really hard because it’s really hard to call and so i slid up from me are you able to are you able to stand up and you want to crawl across the whole thing

I don’t know i can call i think okay i’m sure by time he gets over to the judges they’ll be able to you’ll be able to get across let’s do it oh judges what do we think dedication is the word i would say that is awesome i actually saw that walking like around

The expo hall and i was a little confused because they were carrying it in a different way and i thought it was uh like the wolf but it’s amazing i like you’re doing like the worm crawl it’s so awesome that’s what i was gonna comment on did you practice the the silverfish wiggle

Can you do a little little wiggle yeah the tail out the back awesome wow that’s a multi piece costume that definitely deserves a round of applause purely for the crawl there we go dude all right we’re going to let him walk we’re not that cool oh here we go here we go

This is up there in the top 10. that’s pretty amazing strangest experiences of my life that is true yeah is this not every day for you no i play a lot of minecraft but nothing quite like this all right let’s bring up our next person oh wow i’m scared

I’m really hoping there’s no projectiles off this way i’m gonna back away and leave you oh wow did the leds go all the way around or is it just on the front i see that’s amazing how long did this take to put together 15 hours how long sorry 15 hours 15

Hours to put this together wow so we’ve got cardboard glitter paint we’ve got leds all over the place each pixel is a different piece of wood oh wow each pixel has a different piece as well so they’ve actually i brought this together as one huge humongous piece

This is very impressive i’m scared that the projectile heads are going to come flying out uh what do you think judges i uh it’s amazing like the lights are awesome it reminds me of like christmas lights and like it outlines a skeleton super cool i’m really digging the glitter paint on

Those front panels i like that if withers looked as awesome as that i might not be so scared of them let’s look at the audience and give them a good look pretty cool huh all right thank you so cool straight towards him wow this is brilliant i’ve seen people make

Paper craft swans but this is next level is there a raw we can get out of there sorry is there a roar we can get out there a raw nice that’s actually pretty good i wasn’t expecting that and who are you who are you playing in relation to the dragon um i’m the

Dragon’s master oh right okay we’ve got the sword to tame him as well what do we think judges a duo piece i love the purple eyes that’s very authentic do you want to turn this way people can see the eyes there’s like a very thin bit of kind of like purple netting so

You’re still able to see through it but one more roar sorry one more roar thank you guys thank you so much there we go oh oh oh this is amazing this is like a tiny enderman it’s an enderman isn’t it oh sorry enderdragon oh okay

Oh wow we’ve got the wings out the back to the wings flap oh they do oh this is brilliant and the tail is all individual pieces and it’s all stuffed this is great did you make this by yourself or with some other people well my mom just made it herself it took

About a week so it took him about a week that’s great have you been wearing this to school or anything as well probably not probably not goes against the dress code it’s not quite school uniform what do you think judges the most adorable cosplay yet you’re so adorable can i have a hug

You’re so cute awesome thank you so much wave to the audience all right okay oh my god it’s the mojang logo here we go now the secret’s out i i should point out actually that he does have some padding across the bottom of this so he didn’t just fall onto the

Hard ground he’s got a giant bit of styrofoam inside of there which is good how many times have you practiced that fall none no no they just winged it that’s exactly what i’m doing right now this is great did it hurt more than you expected a bit it’s the adrenaline the adrenaline keeps

It going forth that’s what i was aiming for what do you think judges the logo did you is there like a mattress pad on the side that you flopped on you really thought this through i’m impressed head pad that was good let’s give a round of applause for the mojang logo

Oh this is very cool who are we dressed as bridge dog from the york’s cast bridge dog he’s a friend of mine this is great so this is like the whole foot to head everything how long did you do much research to kind of bring the costume together uh

Research you could say that took about nearly two years of gathering fan art but uh but the costume took about three weeks to put together and you’ve even got a little pocket watch there as well yeah all all the little shebangs so would you say that rich dog’s your favorite yogscast member

Or is there someone who you might prefer more don’t worry it’s okay okay good good that’s good let’s find out what the judges think so everybody this is ridge dog from the yogscast his minecraft character what do you think andrew i think it’s amazing i really like the boots

It’s like i feel like it completes the outfit that’s amazing you did an awesome job it was mostly handmade apart from the trousers they were my dad’s that i had his golf trousers that i had to steal he’s not happy he’ll be fine now you’re not you’ve been

On the screen it was worth it it was worth it here we go thank you very much there we go all right we’re gonna start moving people along a little bit faster because we have way more than we really expected so things will move along a little quicker

These are a much more recent addition to the game yes and these still scare me i don’t understand how they work i just know they hurt me whenever i’m near them i don’t like it this is great can we even say hello there’s no there’s no way i’m saying

At the audience isn’t that cool that’s brilliant i think this is up there with adorableness hello there team who are we dressed as i am dressed as lying in bed mons which in the woods uh minecraft skin oh brilliant okay and then we’ve got two other people as well

Where we dress them no i’m just dressed as a minecraft skin of aurelian oh aurelian okay brilliant and yourself i’m dressed as a microscope of fake stevia oh amazing it’s nice to see other youtubers represented up here it’s brilliant so there we go you want to give a little

Wave to this camera just here in the crowd oh that’s a serious place that means business thank you guys i feel like the knee pads could have been given to that other guy who fell over he probably could have benefited from those would have really helped that would have worked thank you

That’s amazing thank you very much we’ll follow that carrot you definitely have to lead oh no they’re probably the three mobs i’m scared most of in the game we are in the nether we are and we’ve got a wither out the back as well probably the most terrifying of the three hello

Little poke out the front so did you three help each other make these costumes or did you work on them individually myself we both um made we had a help with the pain and we um made the bolts ah cool so it was a nice little group effort what about the uh

What about the weather back here how did you make yours um my grandma made it ah that’s adorable so there we go a nice three piece of mobs thank you very much you guys great job guys way to go all this is a self-contained one are these are these your legs

Supposed to mimic them we’ve got the we’ve got the chest out the back that’s brilliant for storage and the carrot on the stick this one has shoes this one has shoes yeah these are adorable little goal issues i like it that’s great do a trot right here real quick

Those are awesome that looks really good guys so great give us a twirl the legs are amazing perfect i didn’t notice the potion there as well there’s a little potion down the side there as well what was that sorry it makes pig noises oh what this makes pink noises

Oh you’ve got like a little switch that’s very cool awesome thank you guys i want to make a texture pack where the baby zombies have pink sneakers another family creeper squad i’m getting a bit of a slenderman vibe off the guy at the back i’ll be honest it’s pretty terrifying so

Who have you got what’s your name uh what’d you say my name is uh nice to meet you we’ve got another zombie down here we’ve got a creeper we’ve got lots of different styles so are you all family i feel like this guy’s going to be a

Come on the stage come here how we going what are we dressed as creeper just as a creeper are these little bits of dynamite here we’ve got dynamite we’ve got this really nice little tnt bag down there so did you have to buy the bag and sort of custom

Paint it oh brilliant can we get a little twirl with the dress as well they’ve got all the little squares as well drawn on for the creepers typical style that’s amazing give the crowd a wave and i’ll give her a bit of a round of applause that’d be brilliant

People dressed as other youtubers but neverest themselves that is amazing that’s great so are you uh related are you just friends yeah oh you’ve never met before oh okay there we go or unless i’ve got some technical issues it’s fine if you wanted a quick wave to the camera

A common trend of like riding animals but this one they made the shoes oh wow they’re not sneakers are they shoes are we going barefooted for this one big feet and their legs as well what are the legs stuck with is that just newspaper with wrapping paper oh okay wrapping paper

That makes sense this is a huge costume how long does this take to put together four weeks i mean three weeks oh a couple of weeks oh okay and is the character anyone specific or is it just say again sorry oh it’s alex oh got you that’s amazing that’s so good so many

Riding ones this week that’s fantastic thank you so much this guy is so cool he’s got the shades on he’s looking cool raging contagion raging contagion this is brilliant are we all here as a group yeah oh this is very cool i’ve never seen a sword quite like this one before

We’ve got the is this an emblem or have you literally like glued a golden apple um yeah i’ve i’ve glued a golden apple on is that for the the health boost um well it’s kind of decorational just as i’m carrying a golden apple oh cool amazing stuff and

We’ve got a creeper here what are what are these parts about is this to sort of be a mixture oh it’s a okay i didn’t see this okay let’s face the camera just here so one side we’ve got the creeper and if you turn slightly we’ve got the gas

The slime and a little bit more and we’ve got the end demand on the other side as well so we’re covering like four bases with this this is brilliant steve wait this might be i think this might be herobrine hello hello hello are you dressed as herobrine yes do you really exist

Whiskers here they’re very quiet they’re kind of like little wireframe and actually it’s like a fluffy yeah it’s actually like a furry um i guess a beard like a santa stampy doesn’t have a beard but it works that’s fantastic thank you very much guys thanks guys awesome work

These are very very cool cosplays i really like this dress as well if you get a little closer with this dress this dress is essentially you need to see this clothes a minecraft world we’ve got like a door and the stones making the house we’ve got all the different kinds

Of ores across the bottom there which are beneath like the surface level this is very cool did you make this yourself or was somebody else um i made it myself i’m well done it’s very very cool and your costume as well we’ve got the creeper top just there how long did this

Take to put together to get all the pieces two weeks two weeks oh cool is the face paint getting itchy yet or a little bit it’s okay there we go thank you so much thank you guys i love both of your costumes it’s very intricate oh she has a portal

Our judges are busy tallying scores and coming up with their decisions on who will make it to the finals tonight who is who was your personal favorite you know the thing is your first personal favorite was based on the fact that they were a mushroom and that happens to be my favorite mom
