Hello my name is triodar today i’m going to be showing you how to make a dark nether portal in minecraft let’s get started so let’s take a closer look at our dark nether portal of course i’ve taken a little inspiration from the dark portal from world of warcraft but uh that’s Only true in in the rough outline of it when you stand back and look at it but when you take a look at all the details here we have quite a few differences from that for instance we have a uh maximum sized hexagonal nether portal incised into a large frame That has a sort of a wolf head on top of it there made out of some obsidian of course we’re using a lot of a copious amount of obsidian and redstone and the new couple deep slate blocks i quite like these of course we have our nether guardians Here very scary looking holding their swords on either side of the portal presumably if you are unworthy they will they will strike you down possibly i haven’t seen them do that yet though and of course behind them we have some inscrutable runes etched into the frame here not really sure what they say We probably don’t want to find out now considering how the rest of the portal looks in fact this this portal may be so dark that it may go to someplace worse than another let’s take a look at the back of course it’s designed to have a facade orientation meaning that this is the Back and the other side is the front like you see done here but the the frame is the same on both sides we just have the statues standing on only one side and because i’m sure you’re going to ask me how is it possible that we can have a hexagonal Nether portal in minecraft i know you type in the comment now here’s like triad or wait that is illegal you cannot have a hexagonal nether portal in minecraft and that is true you cannot but what you can do is make a really big square portal and then put a hexagon in Front of it so in that way if we just go ahead and light that up there we can uh from the front here we can give off the illusion that we have a very illegal hexagonal another portal but from behind of course this is just a standard maximum size to vanilla nether portal At the back here and you can also see that the interior is filled with cobble so you’re only going to need all the rare materials here for just the exterior facade and i think it’s going to be pretty neat if you don’t want to use this for Another portal uh things that you can use this for if you just break the break to frame here and there we go uh you can use this for an entrance to perhaps a cave base like if you build this right in front of a mountain face sort of blend the Mountain into the sides here you can use this as an entrance to your base and indeed this is what i use it for in my north world it’s the entrance to the dark element city of neriak in that map but before we start with the phases here Let’s take a look at the very small bill and materials you will need to construct this you only need three types of blocks of four if you want to count the cobble what you will need are five thousand nine hundred and forty seven blocks of cobbled deep slate Three thousand and thirty six blocks of obsidian quite a lot you probably want to go to the end and just dismantle the pillars for the dragon to get that much and 526 redstone blocks we don’t we’re not actually doing any redstone with them we’re just using them for decoration Conversely if you want to change how the portal looks you could use perhaps magma blocks here for that instead maybe even some regular glowstone but i would like to use something red for this to make it look a little more ominous and if you want to fill the portal in Solid and make it not just a shell you would need a 17 04 blocks of cobblestone as i showed you behind here it is filled in solid back here with cobblestone but if you wanted to make this a shell and like so and not then save yourself All the cobblestone you can do that as we go but the reference model i’m going to be showing you here today is of course filled with cobble now the dimensions for this is as follows it is 59 blocks wide across the front 28 blocks deep back that way and 62 blocks Tall down here all the way up to the top there so first you want to um i think probably the best thing to do is for you to mark out a rectangle of 59 by 28 with your cobble deep slate but we need to take a nibble out of that rectangle Because it is going to come out right here so we want to take four blocks out of it and then place this block here and then from here we want to place what one two three four five six seven eight nine and then turn the corner for four blocks here And then go all the way all the way to the back there and that’s going to be what from this block here one two three four five six 19 blocks to get all the way there to the back and as we go this uh this portal is symmetrical by the way So the the right half here is a mirror image of what is on the left over there so as we go i’ll be focusing on probably half of the portal but realize if you just draw a little center line straight down through here and divide it into a That this side will be identical to that side so all you have to do is just place the mirror image of that on the other side and uh in the middle here let’s actually go into the next phase take a look at that so for this one we’re going to be Going up two uh two blocks for each additional phase as we go but we’re going to be 3d printing it from the bottom up you already have this level down here so on top of that what you want to do is place the same pattern but you want to use Obsidian instead of the cobble deep slate and in the middle here for the stairs let me count these out for you so from the corner here it’s going to be one two three four five thirteen blocks and then you can count thirteen blocks on the other side and fill in the middle With this very simple stair pattern here just couple deep slate and i’m sitting in alternating with each other like so and if you want to you can perhaps you could perhaps knock this out and place some some half slabs here of some additional material perhaps some black stone or something Now something that would uh complement the cobble deep slate but i don’t think we have do we have couple deep slate slabs i i don’t actually know if we have those or not um i usually just use the full blocks but if you do have cobble deep slate Slabs or something like that you might want to substitute those here so you can just more easily walk up and down down your portal like so there let’s go on to the next phase we’re going up two more blocks at the top here So you want to put on a a top of couple deep slate just like you did down here and then you want to set one block back all the way around and just incise that with cobble deep slate and then behind there we want to start putting obsidian down Of course where you see the cobblestone now these are blocks that are not visible from the exterior of the portal so these are going to be the places where we build our two scary statues holding the swords over there like so and behind them we have our frame Our really big frame for the portal so if we draw a center line let’s just i think i think it’s about right here and divide the the thing in twain like i said so you can see from the back here you want to place uh two blocks of obsidian Of just a band of that and go around the corners here we want to have three and four there for that and then over here is going to be one two three four five six and uh for this pattern here i think i think if i just show you this from the Top down it’d be the easiest explanation like that there let me just show you the entire thing at a glance from the top down for those of you that can build directly off of that as we go remember all you have to do is pause and and replicate what you see on Your screen and in that way build it at your own pace so inside here this is going to be where our um another portal is going to be so from our center line here we’re going to count one including the center line one two three four five six Eleven to get over uh that far and we won’t have just a couple additional blocks obsidian around there and then the rest of this as i said can be either either cobblestone or you can leave it empty if you want to save some cobble and just build it as a hollow shell And we also finish our stairs here at the front as well right there and we will move on to the next phase two more blocks uh right here we’re doing the sword so i’ll just replace this with a red wool or a fire coral or whatever so you can see it More easily right there it’s just it’s right on top of the uh what we did over here just just that there and then behind that you want to just stack up the cobble deep slate here for the the very simple statue we are going going to go up two blocks On this statue because it’s it’s not it is a very large statue but it’s not a very highly uh detailed statue so in that way i think it i think we can do that um let’s start i think uh but let’s start directly behind the statue And take a look at the frame behind that so we can see we’re already using some of the redstone blocks or the inscrutable arcane runes we have etched into the frame and just uh three blocks of uh obsidian there and then some couple deep slate right here five of those And of course as we go the the back of this is going to be the same the exact same as the front so if we draw another little line along here you can see that what you build on this side is going to be the same you just Want to flip that to the back and you want to have that be in line with the portal frame here in the middle so as we go i’ll be showing you roughly one quarter of the frame behind the statue and that’s because the other three quarters are exactly the same design So here we have a little bit of redstone there the uh gap in the middle here for our portal frame of course right here we’re building up our portal frame right here and uh to save some time if you want to i think that this is a maximum Size nether portal it should be 23 by 23. i will i will double check that at the end of the video if it’s wrong i’ll put up some some text on the screen with the right numbers but i think it should be a 23 by 23. if memory serves But if it doesn’t like i said i will correct that with a note on the screen um i think that’s all there is actually we’ve already built the base and the last phase like you see done here we just have the base and on this we are putting a a statue over here The same exact statue over there and then the frame behind that so it’s it’s not that complicated so we will move on to the next phase here so we’re building a bit more of the sword here with the obsidian and the redstone and for the lower parts of the statue Here we’re just stacking this directly up with the coupled deep slate uh there’s hardly any block very va a variation at the lowest points behind that let’s take a look here at uh a bit of the arcane room in our first little room down here very plain sides And just a cobble deep slate here just a solid sheet of that until we get to our hexagonal nether portal frame of course one of the tricks we use the we want to make the frame that we put in front of the square portal to be obsidian so In in that way it gives you an optical illusion that it is actually an an illegal hexagonal nether portal whereas it is actually just a standard vanilla another portal like i said not very complicated to do so we’ll go on to the next face here sword at the front here just the same I think the statue is as well uh nope we have we have two additional blocks right here on on both sides all right there let’s take a look here if i can fit in behind the well i should actually show you this from back here probably Because it’s the same so it’d be easier to see so i can get a better angle of it not have the statue be in the way all the time there we go and as you can see our hexagonal nether portal it’s being set back it’s well it’s being set over One block for every two blocks that we go up like so and hollow on the inside and there so a next phase soared just the same and i think uh it’s almost the same here just for these little two blocks added for the statue to represent the the the folds in Whatever evil garment is covering the beings guarding the portal here all right and let’s take a look from the back here as well you can see that we are setting back the frame here on the side as we go to give it just a subtle slope It’s it’s not sloped as severely as the hexagon is it’s sloped a little bit more gently another full room right here in the middle and details here as well and over here again for hexagon done like so and we will go on to the next phase so we’ll start with the statues We just have an additional block hanging out over here on the side and two more on the back now like that of course the statues themselves are also symmetrical by the way so if we we draw a little line here from the sword like that the right side of this statue Is identical to the left side of the statue by the way and let’s take a look here at the back sides are just going straight up at the moment and we will move on to the next phase here so a bit more of the statue Take a look at that from the top and the sides here a couple more blocks on the sides there here in the middle we have gotten as far over as we can get with the portal so we are changing directions on it we went up with this slope here but now We’re going to reverse that and go with that one there just like you saw in the tour section i think uh i hope with shadows and everything all the blocks are high contrast enough to see because sometimes the obsidian can be can be a bit of a pain All right let’s go on to the next phase here no changes on the sword just yet like uh take a top-down view of the slice of the statue here i just got an additional block right here and i think uh everything else just goes straight up from the last phase Over here a bit more of the portal another inscrutable arcane roon on the side here and i think i’ve shown you enough of this now that you can see that what we have for the slope here this is going to be a repeating pattern So it’s going to go up at the same slope on the edges as we go like so and we will move on to the next phase here we’ve got a few freestanding blocks out here i think uh these are the arms good at the arms so from the front here these are just Three blocks out from either side right there let’s take a view from below here and here for the portal frame again a bit more of our hexagon and i think all this is just going straight up a bit of that room right there and all this is also going straight up On the sides here all right let’s take a view of the next section start with our statue so we have the the folds of the garments of the arms are hanging down right here and this pattern give you a good slow view from all angles of this and from the top right here And then from the back we are starting to finish our hexagon at this level here we have another little bend here with the cobble deep slate and the obsidian another little rune on the side here and another set back with the obsidian over here all right next phase same details for the sword We’re just building a bit more of the arms right here i’ll show you that from the top down here and let’s lower down and take a good look at it from all angles take a look from the inside right here no surprises around the back though We have a hole visible right here though for that take a look at our portal frame we’ve got just a band of redstone and then a band of obsidian across the front here i think we’ve quite gotten to the point where we can turn on our portal Details on the side here one more roon right there in the middle and another setback on the side here all right let’s take a look at the next two block phase and we’ll begin with our statue here at the front the sword is now making contact with the statue Take a look at this uh from the underside here you have just a couple blocks like that there and then uh two more blocks on the sides here all right let’s take a look here we’re building the lowermost section of the wolf over the gateway I really designed it to be a wolf i was just trying to design something i thought looked cool and everybody said it looked like a wolf and then i realized well yes it actually does so we have a we have a stylized wolf head over the gate another lower part of a roon Right here and no surprises on the sides there so here in the middle this is going to be right right on our center line and there’s just two blocks and then a bit more obsidian five blocks of that there and we’re also placing at this level the topmost Section there which means we should be able to do that and light up our portal all right next phase a bit more of the statue here take a look at this from top down first and now here at uh this uh two block slice here is what we need to focus on Just a bit of cobble deep slate around the back and that’s pretty much all there is to that all right so here the front section is a reminder right here in this block is is our center line so you want to make this pattern with the obsidian right here And then it’s just on a background of straight cobble deep slate now let’s swing around to the back and take a look at the side sections we have another little bend here right there the top of that roon right there and another little bend with the obsidian right there All right let’s go on to the next phase here take a look at our statue we have a couple deep slate here these are supposed to represent sort of uh the the robed hands are clashed together around the sword at this point here like so And we do have a number of uh block setbacks right here at the front for that and one more here at the back and then just here at the front we do have those there like so and we’ll take a look at the design over the doorway and then the frame Right so to orient yourself here here’s our center line you want to make this pattern here with the obsidian and then over here we want to do this for the designs on the side we have another little room we’re making right here and another setback here for the the cobble deep slate All right the next phase quite a lot of phases still to go now here we have the the pommel of our sword just a couple blocks obsidian done right here and i believe we finished the arms we just have these two blocks right there and the rest of this we’re going to be Building now the shoulders and then the head of our statue let’s take a look at this the design over the doorway so to orient ourselves again center line right there and the obsidian design like so all right back here finishing off yet another room right there and no surprises on the exterior over Here that’s just going straight up again so we will go on to the next phase here a bit more of the pommel for our statue four blocks of red stone and four blocks of obsidian and then i think probably another block of obsidian on top of that and then some details back here Some block cutouts for this section of the statue here at the front and we have a one block overhanging back here all right details here at the front or or we’ll see a design we’ve we’ve made most of it and behind that we have a couple of more block setbacks here Right here and that for the obsidian another room here on the side we have course we have runes going all the way up the the portal frame and then a block set back there all right and next phase here i said one block of obsidian there and We have finished the the sword and everything so we’re now focusing on these sections here or the uh the statue here at the front and it’s pretty it’s it’s extremely flat along the back it’s it’s done that way intentional in case you want to um now that you know how to build the Statue design well when we finish it you can you can separate these off from the rest of this model here and if you want to just build them straight against something you can do that or just perhaps uh one individually you you will be able to do that also so You’re gonna going to get a couple of builds for the price of one out of this particular tutorial so here we have just a couple more blocks obsidian right there for the frame and more back here as well they are being set back like that like that there We’re now curving them over a bit more aggressively now the roon though and we have setbacks on the side here all right next phase here we have a bit of the uh the face of our statue so it’s very deliberately meant to just be a uh a straight sheet of obsidian or some Black block with a red eyes that you can use in there to make it look you know extra extra scary and then we have a couple of block setbacks there and a couple along here and now one at the back all right let’s take a look at our door frame again Like so just a couple of blocks subsidy in there in the middle and on the sides and at the back here of course everything is now going straight up right here for a little bit another bit of a room here in the middle and straight up on the sides there So let’s go on to the next phase here now we’re putting in the the the scary redstone eyes for our statue um i think the red makes it look nice and scary uh you can use as i said perhaps some magma blocks for this as well uh might do just as well But as i said here is our uh hooded face of course uh it’s shaped like this you have to imagine the the statue is covered in like black robes like imagine a nazgul from lord of the rings that’s essentially what one of these are like so and we’ll take a look at the Door frame now locate our center line right there i think these are the last couple of blocks of obsidian for that and take a look back here a bit of one more rune again right here and uh setbacks here for for those blocks there all right next phase we’re putting now The hood on our scary statue just one little block cut out there for that we’re almost done with those so in our locate our center line here like so and we’re building the the lower most portions of the uh the big red i think it was like a diamond feature I don’t really know what you would call it it’s roughly shaped like a diamond it’s just it’s just meant to look uh a big red and scary is the only reason i put it in there let’s take a look at the back here things are now going vertical for this section again Another little bit of a rune right there i don’t think we have too many more runes left to build and we’re just going up at a 45 degree diagonal on the side here for all of that all right next phase here it looks like that we are now um We’re finishing these statues that we have been building for quite a while like so don’t want to stare into those eyes for too long um on the side here we just have block setbacks here or that there and you want to make sure your hood is just a little bit pointed At the back at the back here all right let’s locate our center line and uh now from this point onwards we will only be building the big frame behind the statues like so of course we finished with our wolf’s head over the hexagonal entrance and we will take a look at the details Here on the signs all we’re doing now is just filling in some places we got another roon here and another set back on the side there all right next phase here take a look at the top and now the front of course we’ll start with the center right here very easily marked We just want to do a double tall band of obsidian across there build in a bit of another rune right here more obsidian molding on the sides and then just straight cobble deep slate on the edge there all right next phase here working in a bit more redstone here in the middle again More obsidian another little bit of a rune and no surprises on the side there for that all right next phase here we’re in home stretch now redstone details right there for that in the middle more obsidian on the sides and we’re finishing off these these runic uh panels That we have been building for quite a while which i wasn’t really sure what to call them i guess we’ll go with runic panel uh when you build things like this that don’t really have much of a counterpart there’s not really a um a great vocabulary To use to describe all the various parts here in the middle again more i’m sitting on the side here a little cut out there for that block and some on this side for that and then just straight deep slate on the side all right next phase here we have a Step back for two blocks for that there and a three block step for that that there and then just obsidian for all of that and then behind that you want to put in some deep slate three block step back there for that and we’ll go on to one of the last phases here Second to last i think so here are the details for this design like so just a couple more step backs here this distance is going to be about one two three four five six seven blocks and so for that there and then our next to last phase here We’re just wrapping our deep slate around the the front design right here putting obsidian behind that like you see done here and a bit of cobble deep slate to cap that off there and then we can go on to the next phase where i think i i think we go up three blocks For these these last three blocks right there for that and because on the top here all we’re doing is putting on a last little bit of cobble deep slate which is going to be what by block stick there for that and once you have done all of that your very scary looking Hexagonal dark nether portal will be complete so i hope you have enjoyed the tutorial for the dark nether portal this has been a requested build that i’m just now getting around to doing remember the entire world is available with the reference model in the video description If anything was unclear and you need to come here and take a look at it for yourself for for java version anyway i want to thank you very much for watching and i will see you next time You Video Information
