Hey what’s up everybody its ball guy yes and today I’m gonna be showing you guys how to build a chess system like the one I have here using hoppers if you end up building this chess system or if you have any questions about it feel free to leave me

Before we actually build a giant chess system it’s important that you guys understand the way that hoppers actually work so what I’m gonna do here is I’m gonna put a chess down and I’m going to point a hopper into this chest I pointed to hopper to the chest by actually

Right-clicking on the chest itself opera’s will always point wherever you actually right-click so if I right-click the ground right here as you see the hopper is actually pointing downward into the ground but if I right-click the chest while holding shift hopper will actually point toward the chest okay so

As many of you would assume if I actually drop a thing of magma cream into these hoppers they’re going to go through the hopper and into the chest and as you see that’s what’s happening right now and it’s draining from the hopper going into the chest but now what

When it gets more complicated is when you add another chest on top I’m gonna go ahead and put one more chest up here and I’m going to have another hopper that is pointed to this chest above the hopper that’s pointed to the lower chest so now what I’m gonna do is I’m gonna

Clear out the bottom chest though all 64 magma creams are now back in my inventory there’s nothing in any of these hoppers or any of these chests so what I’m gonna do now is I’m gonna jump up to this chest and I’m gonna do the same thing I’m going to pick this magma

Cream and I’m gonna drop it in to the hoppers right here and so now the question is where would you think that this magma cream ends up I just dropped them all into this top hopper but judging from a lot of the messages I got in my previous video you guys probably

Would have think that all the magma would end up in this chest here but that’s not entirely true so if we look we’ll see that only half of the magma ended up in this chest and half ended up in the chest below and there’s currently nothing else left in the hoppers so the

Reason that this happened is that the way that hoppers operate is that every game tic they actually pull and push at the same time and so what I did is I dropped 64 magma into this upper hopper and every game tick one went down and went in because the hopper below was

Pulling at the same time that the hopper above was pushing into the chest that’s why you have an exact half amount going into each chest just so that we can test it I’m gonna do the same thing again just to make sure that this is definitely what happens and so what I’m

Doing is I’m gonna drop an another 64 Magma right into the top hopper as you see it’s all in the top hopper and it’s getting drained but the question is which where does it go and as you’ll see the exact same thing ends up happening yep you see they’re both filling up and

They’re both gonna stop at exactly 64 and there we go 64 in there and 64 in there it was split exactly in half and that’s because as I said before when you put anything into this hopper every tick of the game 1 is getting pulled into

Here and 1 is getting pushed into the chest so it’s pull and push so the important thing to know here is that hoppers also pull they don’t just push a lot of people were messaging me that my hoppers were pointed in the wrong direction but I actually knew that the hoppers below

It we’re going to suck the magma out of the hoppers above so I actually designed it like that on purpose so now that we know that hoppers work like this they pull and push we can now go into making the chest system but before we actually build our own chest

System let me just show you the way that my current cactus magma farm chest system is set up so as you see here every opera that I have that’s collecting all the magma all around the farm they all funnel in to these rows right here in the middle and so if you

Look underneath here you’ll see they’re all pointing to this very row right here the one that I’m looking at right now and this row is actually going all to the left as you see here and it’s above a row that’s going all to the right and then the row right below that is

Actually pointed toward the chests you could have actually started your chest system right here where this hopper is but because I already had a lot of these chests built I didn’t want to redo it so I just added two more rows of hoppers here so what’s actually happening here

Is that all of the magma cream is getting pumped into this row here so if none of these rows are full what will happen is a hopper right below it will pull one mamuh cream out and one Memo cream will actually get pushed more to the left this will keep happening then

The row below it will have the magma cream pulled out to the hopper below that but it will also push one to the right now a lot of you guys pointed out that this hopper here is pointed out into the air so technically although that’ll slow the speed down a tiny bit

It doesn’t surely matter as far as losing magma cream because what’s happening is the magma gets here it sees that it can’t actually push and so everything gets pulled down below it nothing is actually getting stuck here and the same thing is true down here this one’s pointing into

The wall but it actually is going to get pulled down as you see it’s actually full but that’s because all of these are full so basically this chess system is designed so that all the magma cream will fill up every column and so you don’t end up with one column full and

Then you’re losing magma cream because that’s full so even though as you see here this whole column is full it then moves over to the next one because when the hoppers actually try to push it into here and they see that this is full it’ll then get sucked down and

Everything will just get pulled down into the next column but as you see this column is actually full as well that’s because I’ve waited a while to collect but then it just moves on to the next one see this one as you see is still

Empty so as I click here you’ll see this chest is actually ill empty but it’s flowing all the way down here so if I run down here eventually I’ll get to a chest that’s full yeah there we go see so it’s actually everything that would have went into these two columns because

These two columns are full are now going into this row see as you see this is filling up pretty fast and also the same thing is true for this side so a lot of people were pointing out in my last video that all of these hoppers are

Going into this row right here but the thing is is that even though this row will fill up first what will happen is because of the way the system is set up the hoppers that can’t get into this row they’ll go into this one which then

Points to the right and it’ll just keep on going down the down the line as you see here the magma is still getting pumped down here and it’ll keep going until it gets to an open hopper to go into did you see this rows full this

Rows full but this row is not and so all the magma are going through the hoppers until they get to this row and then they’re going down and so it’s pretty awesome because you don’t end up actually losing any magma and all you have to do is basically add these two

Rows of hoppers above any of the hoppers that are feeding your chests so now we’re gonna do it over here just to say that you guys can see how it actually works so I’m gonna go to this old area where I used to have a chess system here

But we’re gonna actually rebuild it from scratch so this last row of hoppers here is facing it downward and all these other hoppers are actually pointed toward this last row so this is the row that we want to focus on this is where all the current magma that would be

Getting collected in your farm would and up so now we want to turn this into a chess system what you don’t want to do is immediately place the chests right below this row of hoppers because what’s gonna happen is then if one row gets full there’s nowhere else for your magma

To go and it’ll get stuck so what you want to do is make it so that the magma spreads out among all the rows and so the way that you do this is you build one row going to the right and one row going to the left it doesn’t actually

Matter the order but what we want to do is hold down shift and space bar so that we can fly here and we want to point them to the right that’s what I’m doing here I’m playing all these hoppers to the right by actually looking it matters

Where you actually click your mouse you have to click your mouse toward the direction you want the hoppers to point now yes technically I don’t have to have the last one pointed toward the wall I could have that pointed down but I just end up doing it toward the wall just

Because it’s easier and in case I want to ever expand the hoppers in the future that way it’s already pointing in the right direction so again I want to do the same thing one row below it so I’m gonna place one stone here so that way I have something

To point the hoppers against and then I’m just gonna point the hoppers here like this and I’m gonna go down and there we go so what you have here by adding these two extra rows as you make it so that whatever you’re collecting will automatically fill up every row

Eventually it may still fill up one of the rows faster than another row but you won’t actually lose the magma or whatever is you’re collecting because once one row gets filled up it’ll just move on to the next row so what we want to do is put one more row below this and

This row below it will actually point to the chests so what I’m gonna do is I’m going to build stone that comes out just a little bit here because the only reason I’m doing this is so that I have something to point the hoppers at if I have to actually click somewhere to

Point the hoppers so now what I’m gonna do is I’m gonna point the hoppers toward the stone and then I’m gonna break that stone after I place these hoppers so there we go so I now place the hoppers that’s gonna be going into the chests these stone are

Going to be replaced with chests so I’m gonna do that right now but what I’m gonna do is I’m just gonna place one more stone here but now I can actually place some chests and with chests in order to place them next to each other you have to alternate between chests and

Trap chests you can make trap chests by using one regular chest and a tripwire hook and you can make two trip wire hooks by using an iron ingot above a stick above would plank in your crafting table so what I’m gonna do here is I’m gonna

Place a chest right here and then I’m gonna hold shift and spacebar to fly here and I’m going to place a trap chest next to it then I’m going to alternate it and place another chest then a trap chest then a chest then a trap chest and then a chest

And then we’re gonna squeeze in a trap chest and actually I’m going to get ready to stone here because I don’t need this here alright so now you have the start of your massive chest system so now everything that you collect will go into these chests so from here you can

Continue to expand your chest system and make it super massive if you want to the way that I have over here the very first chests in my chest system I usually leave both spaces available for hoppers so I’ll actually make the next set of chests right here next to it like this

Even though this is actually leaving more space than I need the reason for this is that if you look over here if I have a hopper here pointed toward the chest I can then actually make the chest system go out this direction as well out over here so after you build another row

You can simply connect that by placing hoppers right underneath the chests here like this this will continue the chest system so that it’ll continue and then it’ll actually end in this this row of chests right here for any additional chests that you add on to your chest

System you can actually make it more compact what you can do is you can actually build the stone down here like this and for the next set of chests you can start it actually here which is one block right below the chest that you

Placed above it so see what I did here I just built this chest row right below one half of the chests that are above it and I can still have room to build the hoppers below it but it saves one bit of space so see I’m gonna place the hoppers

Here there’s still room to pull out the items from the chest above but it saves a block of walking space now the reason I didn’t do this over here for this first set of chests is because this allows you to actually build a whole nother row of chests going down

Diagonally this side on the left side as well now you have room to place hoppers on here that are pointed down to another section of chests and so that’s the basics of how to make a chess system guys you have the initial row of hoppers that get all the items pushed into them

And then below that you have one row all the way to the right then you have one row going all the way to the left and then below that you have the row that pushes all the items into the chests and once they’re in the chest they just funnel downward into as many
