BLUE ICE EXPLORATION! | The Minecraft Guide – Minecraft 1.17 Tutorial Lets Play (143)

Hey there everybody how you doing it’s me wattles here welcome back to the british version of the minecraft guide in episode 142 the last one we went to the nether and found a bunch of things it got me thinking about one thing and one thing only i actually forgot it but

I can just explain it to you it kind of does the same thing basalt basalt is such an amazing block and i think it’s going to work really well with all the things that we’ve been building here we need basalt so we didn’t find a basalt delta last episode which was great

However there’s an easier way to get basalt of course basalt generating for a little while i’ve been thinking about builds that could potentially be really useful to us over here in this area uh one of those builds is definitely going to be a basalt generator i think it’s going to be really good

Today we’re going to enchant and then explore the goal is silk touch first we’re going to be soaked out for what we want to do so let’s just go for it oh let’s just go for it let’s go for it all right well that was really easy the goal

Was soaked touch we need a soaked touch for what we’re gonna do today to make up a soil generator we need three things we need sole soil we need a lava bucket which i could get pretty easily and we need blue ice the goal today and the exploration trip

But if we have to leave them i’m fine with that too really the only other thing that i’d like to bring is extra map supplies in case we have to go off of the map i’d like to try and keep everything on a map i’m kind of low on iron though so i

Can’t really afford like a bunch of maps so i’m thinking one more compass that should probably be good and then extra paper to expand the map i think i need like yeah that should be good so i was in the garden where the glowberries won’t grow and i noticed something on the horizon

Do you see that over there like way off in the distance like editor so previously we have explored a little bit on this map but i don’t remember seeing that gigantic mountain over there look at that thing that looks massive that’s where we’re going to start i

Think i really hope that finding blue ice is going to go pretty oh my gosh there’s foxes there’s foxes i’m so sorry we cannot scare them i think i hope the job of finding blue ice shouldn’t be too hard all that we’re really looking for here

Is cold biomes if i can find a mountain bomb that goes really high up kind of like this one over here then i could find water patches in the mountain and actually just take the ice and craft packed ice and then craft blue ice or i could find a frozen ocean anything

Else that we find along the way is a bonus so this mountain right here is this really the big one from a distance that i was seeing i think it is i mean it has to be it’s nowhere near as big as i thought the colony is here chickens it appears

That this mountain belongs to the chickens i’m trespassing they threatened me so we have to leave there’s so many eggs though i will definitely take the eggs hey another ocean with squid i could always use more ink sacks this is perfect and turtles too it’s amazing we should

Import some turtles over to the base or set up like an ocean outpost so uh there’s no getting around it we’ve been in this ocean before but genuinely for some reason i have the memory of a snail and i can’t remember if i found anything interesting in this ocean specifically

Like an iceberg or anything like that so we’re gonna head into the ocean a little bit but then i think we should probably head over to the new map because that stuff i have definitely never seen before and new stuff is always way more interesting oh this is really good to know a

Shipwreck over there we have to check out the shipwrecks very soon at some point uh for moss blocks wait why are they in the ocean ocean boxes what is this like what are you doing all the way out here are you really hunting fish how did you even like move all the way

Out here this is so far out to be like loaded in there’s no way this is loaded in from the base what are you doing go back to the land we have to go to the shipwreck soon because there’s so much stuff we actually still haven’t done anything with the ocean

At all in this world i want to do more stuff with 1.17 but hopefully before we end this world i’d like to set up an ocean monument farm and do a bunch of ocean stuff like trident stuff uh maybe even creeper farming yeah there’s so much potential aha another tall mountain that’s really

Good to be honest i think the mountain is probably going to be our best bet today i mean unless of course we found an ocean on the other map you never know it could work out like that but i’m kind of more leaning towards like a mesa on the

Other map that would be like amazing i wouldn’t be against farming ice on top of a mountain so we can get blue ice but it doesn’t look like there’s any lakes up here oh no way no way there is a goat though i still need to import those things

There’s so much stuff that i need to do this is like a huge mountain range actually so many mountains and like floating islands too it’s actually kind of crazy um let’s keep exploring the mountains close that’s getting close it’s more like it oh no oh no no no

Not right now well i’m trying to explore really really not right now i don’t really have time for this come on take the take the banner captain up oh this is kind of bad too they’re so strong why are they so strong stop it take the banner captain up take

Silk touch come back home with me copper blocks i have something good for you at home i almost completely forgot how soap touch works obviously i could bring this back obviously it’s a really really cool mountain in here and the darkness over there kind of dangerous but also really

Sweet but i don’t think i’ll ever be back here so i might as well just take the copper right now while i’m here i need so much copper i think another thing on the to-do list is gonna have to be a copper mine i need a lot of copper

Oh this is perfect that looks promising this is exactly what we’re looking for a big mountain kind of flat where the lake could be with a ton of snow and look at the mountains over here too have you ever been here i don’t remember any of this this is gigantic

Perfect perfect perfect perfect exactly perfect this this is what we need ice right here we can still touch this nine of these are going to come back down into a one block of packed ice yeah it’s going to be expensive and then uh one block of packed ice

You get eight more of those and then come back down into one blue ice block and that’s all that we need one block of blue ice is gonna be good this is perfect but i still would like to try and find a frozen ocean this is good to know

And i’ll remember this right here but we’re gonna keep moving but if it comes down to it we could definitely come back here and farm over here uh for a little bit we come back over to the great mountain and stand around and farm ice just for a

Little while it wouldn’t take too long and then we would be able to have one flock of blue ice this is perfect okay so i need to mark this place for sure i’ll leave the crafting table here and mark it with the banner now that i’m looking at it this mountain range is

Kind of gigantic like it goes all the way from that ocean back by our base uh kind of on the other side too that big mountain all the way to this spot right here like this huge and it keeps going so many lakes in here with ice these are all ice machines

Basically and it just keeps going mountains as far as i can see look at this look at this look at this they’re all icebox up here they’re all just ice ice patches this is how we’re gonna do it this is 100 how is this gonna be done

It’s just gonna happen like that okay that’s great let’s keep exploring ah ha well well well a room in portland actually why is there no lava here that’s really weird what do we have oh that’s garbage that’s like the worst one i’ve ever seen yeah that’s rough

That’s really rough i will take it and now that we have a diamond pickaxe i will absolutely take the crying obsidian too this stuff is so amazing looking yeah this is a really weird ruined portal though there’s definitely meant to be lava around this thing like i don’t even know what happened here

That’s so weird i’ve never seen that before so i figured since we’ve already done pretty much a clean diagonal up towards the top of this map we might as well finish it off we’ll continue the diagonal up to the top of the map it looks like we have a dark oak

Forest right here and then once we’re at the top we’ll cut over onto the other one and start exploring that one now that we have fortune and silk touch a world of possibilities has opened up we can go back to the mines and pick up all of those deep slate ores including

The deep slate diamonds i can actually redo the crane a little bit oh i can actually redo the crane a little bit if i can find a beehive i can bring the bees back now i actually like exploring over dargo forest because you could just literally walk on the trees usually the

Trees pretty much like all connect and you can just travel across it like this on top of the trees you can see basically everything around you from up here it’ll be pretty hard to miss important things and it’s just easy to travel alright so

Over at the top of the map now the dark oak forest turned into a normal forest that’s pretty cool and the mountain range continues this mountain range literally cuts all the way up there are so many goats in here i’ve seen so many a lot of sheep too

Llamas even like the whole zoo is here like all of them pigs sheep cows goats they’re literally all here horses too you see what i’m saying you see what i’m saying what huh what it’s not been that long how does that even how is it even possible i thought they were meant to

There’s another one oh this one is easy too this one is so easy it’s way smaller uh take the take the banner one out take the banner there we go the banner one is gone why is there a second patrol though i thought these were meant does not spawn very

Often that’s so weird i mean i’ll take it but it’s been like less than 10 minutes it continues i’m convinced this is the biggest mountain range it continues all the way up here to the top corner of the map and so here we are moving over on to the next map

The plan here is to explore this map a little bit look for some cool things but not entirely i don’t think i’m going to make a clean cut all the way across the map this time i’m going to go in a little bit of a ways oh oh nice ah

Huh they’re all over the place in this world uh-huh uh-huh uh anyways there it is we found one there it is i mean you got to give a huge props to minecraft generation one of the warmest biomes and right next to one of the coldest ones yep that’s perfectly logical

Makes sense all right so we’ve done it this place is actually just off of the map i think if we make the map right here hopefully we’re going to end up on the new map we zoom it out all the way and yep here we are bottom corner of the new map

Now all i need to do is find blue ice i have all of those other blocks of ice too though which are really nice i think what i’m going to do is just keep them with me but blue eyes we should be able to find one block here

Easily this is a massive frozen ocean too these are some of the biggest icebergs that i’ve seen in this world like look at that this huge blue ice here we go this is exactly what we were looking for we could actually grab a couple blocks of this stuff since this year this is

Amazing i was fine with going back to the mountain like really and just manually farming the ice and crafting up the tears but this is so much better it’s so much easier i think we’ll try and get like maybe like 16 of this stuff just to be

Safe and i mean while we’re here we might as well get packed ice too uh we’ll get like 16 pack dice actually maybe we’ll get like 32. we’ll get 32 pack dice 16 32 61. yeah i should definitely fix that there we go so here we are we have a jungle biome we

Have a tiger biome a tiger biome and a frozen ocean biome we’re so far from the base now though i don’t think i want to explore this map too much the inventory is kind of getting like full all the way here but this is truly amazing a brand new frozen

Ocean and now that we’ve been to the nether we could definitely link up to this frozen ocean definitely link up to the jungle right here if we wanted to definitely link up to the desert too that we found a couple episodes ago i’m completely out of inventory space

All the way i had to drop the paper on the ground i need seeds i need seeds i found something a parrot a parrot one seed two seeds three seed four five how many seeds do you need no no how many seeds do you need here here here yes yes perfect perfect

Come with me oh that’s amazing it matches the armor like perfectly too okay now that i have a parrot this would be trickier to get this thing home i’m gonna have to pause every once in a while and wait for the parrot to catch up there needs to be a better way to

Move mobs around like it’s so difficult and this jungle is so massive this place is huge and it looks so cool too okay you know what i just realized where i am i i’m clearly in the jungle which means bamboo i definitely saw bamboo earlier i’m gonna try and not backtrack

But if i can find bamboo somewhere melon that’s very cool but bamboo all i need is a little bit of bamboo just like one piece of bamboo like right over there one piece of bamboo then i can make a bamboo farm and get scaffolding so i

Found another one of these this one is no lava 2 but i guess it’s kind of normal because it’s in the water anything good um not really no but also kind of crying obsidian that is really good that is very very nice so this is pretty interesting from the jungle we move over

Into a swamp bomb right here another gigantic mountain with a swamp on it and the plains boil now that i have this bird though my plan has changed my plan is to move back on to the other map the one that i’m on now and basically just cut diagonally

Through the jungle whatever else i find and get back to the base moving mobs is so painful like you have to move so slow and wait for them to catch up moving mobs is painful like you have to go so slow wait for them to catch up

But look at this we were just talking about this i almost didn’t even realize it’s been in front of me the whole time vines vines are here how did i not think of that like they’re literally right in front of me the whole time right in front of me well that was by

Far like the best exploration trip that i’ve been on in a while especially in this world like that was good everything that we needed to find we found easily ice right there blue ice packed ice and normal eyes right there we only really needed the blue ice but we’ve got it all

And we know where to get more crying obsidian is amazing i definitely could add it to the setup over here maybe a block of crying obsidian right there that would look nice and then maybe uh this one right here we’ll change this to crying obsidian too i’m starting to get

So many of these banners again i don’t even know what to do with these things bamboo is amazing for now i’ll plant one right there and i’ll try and harvest it every once in a while that’s pretty sweet 17 blocks of copper ore fortune 3 how many will we get fortune 3

Is amazing copper is amazing fortune 3 is even more amazing it has to be like three stacks right ah two stacks i mean hey two stacks isn’t bad we’ll throw this in the autos melter over there extra flint and steel those are always good and all of the raw ores

Inside of the auto smelter need a little bit more fuel though that should be good episode 143 it’s a link first off thank you so much i wanted to show off this amazing gradient here because look at this perfection black stone to deep slate to tough to endocyte to calcite

Like that’s perfect i don’t think you could eat it any better i mean i don’t think it’s just me but gradients are so satisfying especially when they work out perfectly like that gradient right there that’s perfect it goes from that and steps right down into that almost perfectly i think you

Could probably expand it with maybe some concretes in there maybe not but that’s a solid gradient like that looks good i need more calcite for what i want to do on that mountain by the way anyways thank you so much for watching the exploration episode i hope you enjoyed it
