When it comes to Minecraft and Mojang’s development of the game, I would bet they constantly put in various bits of code that allow them to test new features as they’re making them. Things like pressing F5 in classic versions of the game to spawn the Steve mob. But ever since I posted my rarest versions of Minecraft video, I’ve had a massive amount of requests to do a video covering the versions of Minecraft that had the sorts of “debug” features in them, and all of these versions, in one way or another, were released to the public. So lets just go ahead and lets check them out! So before I get things started, I’m not here to cover the history of snapshots in this video, or versions of the game where things were sort of incomplete. I want to specifically look at features that can be classified as debug features. So alright, Since I’ve covered all of the pre-alpha versions of Minecraft in detail in past videos, lets start with alpha 1.2.2. In this version of the game, just press the F4 key on your keyboard. Bam, Nether portal! Press it again, another nether portal! Press it 14,000 times and, uh, yeah. Fun fact about this too is that while it does work in the nether, the portals themselves won’t spawn over water in the overworld. Kind of interesting. Next up is by far the most requested version that you guys wanted me to look at, which is beta 1.6, test build 3. While this version isn’t available in the launcher, it’s still available on one of Mojang’s update servers to this very day. I’ll be sure to have a link in the description below. While there’s a few little things here and there that work differently, or that are incomplete in this version, Like Advanced Open GL not working at all, etc., The big thing is that when you generate a world with this version, chests containing a full stack of every single block and item from that time, spawn near your spawn point in the world. This includes things that you couldn’t normally get through any other means. Feel free to open up the chests and test all of them out. It’s pretty cool! Alright. The next three I’m going to be going through in pretty rapid succession, since there isn’t much to say about each individual version. When beta 1.8 prerelease 1 became available to the public, Mojang forgot to remove the ability to use the F6 and F7 keys to rapidly change the time of day. In beta 1.9, pre-release 1, the very act of jumping in game increased your total experience. Again, probably to test out how experience worked. In beta 1.9 pre-release 5, while you couldn’t trigger this one, without a very small mod, you could spawn the Ender Dragon into your world, and it would die with just a single hit. Again, usually when features like this are implemented, they were just intended for Mojang To test out the various features ,and not removed upon release on accident. It’s still pretty cool though! So the last item on our list is an intentional debug feature that has existed since release 1.8. If you hold the shift key on your keyboard in Minecraft Java while selecting A world type, eventually you’re going to see a debug world option. Upon loading this world, it’s a grid layout of indestructible versions of every data value of every block in Minecraft. What’s cool, too, is that this updates automatically between versions when you spawn a new debug world in a new version. Useful for resourcepack makers who want to see what every block will look like. One thing to note though, since every single block is completely indestructible, don’t activate any pressure plates or put a minecart on a detector rail! It will spawn thousands of entities and your game will crash. Using a comparator though, specifically drops 36 stacks of itself. Kind of odd. The nether also works in this version, as well as the end. Good luck trying to defeat the ender dragon on survival mode in this map though! I don’t think you’ll pull it off. And that just about covers it. In a future video, I’m thinking about covering the history of snapshots as well, so be sure to be on the lookout for that. And while I know I say this quite a lot, it really does help that, if you enjoyed this video, to please leave a like on it, Because it would really help out myself, the channel, and the video quite a lot. So I hope you all enjoyed. My name is AntVenom, and I bid you all farewell. Thanks so much for watching. Video Information
