Pixlriffs – Curing Our First Zombie Villager! ▫ Minecraft 1.16 Skyblock (Tutorial Let’s Play) [Part 8]

Hello everyone my name is pixariffs and welcome back to skyblock 116. i hope you guys are having a good day in today’s episode we’re gonna go back to the nether because we have some vital ingredients to acquire in the previous episode we set up a zombie pigman farm we have plenty of gold

Rolling on in now i spent a little bit more time there off camera got myself up to 24 gold ingots and enough gold ingots from smelting the gold armor that i’m getting from the general mob spawner down there occasionally we get pieces of golden iron armor or at least chain armor

Dropping on in and that has allowed me to acquire a little bit more gold i also used the iron that i had remaining to grab my first hopper and i’ve been trying to get enough iron for a second one just so some of that gold can be gathered automatically unfortunately so far

I’ve only had a chance to get three iron ingots and then smelted up some of the iron gear that we were getting from the mobs down there for a fourth and we need five ingots for another hopper but ideally i want to get some automation some automatic collection for

That gold farm set up pretty quickly because the piglens keep picking up any gold items that are around there that the zombie piglens end up dropping so once i’ve cleared out the form of zombie piglens the regular pigelins swoop in and take all of the stuff that is rightfully mine

But the good news is now that we have enough gold here we’re able to make some golden apples and we can start thinking about curing some zombie villagers we’re going to set up a separate spawning platform for those and we have to do a little bit of work first because of course

The golden apple is not the only thing we need to cure a zombie villager we need potions of weakness and for that there are a couple of options first of all you can potentially get a witch to throw a potion of weakness there is a small chance of them doing that

If a player nearby does not have a weakness effect already however that method is kind of unreliable and takes a little while compared to the slightly easier but again slightly more dangerous alternative of venturing into the nether to look for blazes blazers will of course only spawn in nether fortress coordinates

And luckily for us we know where another fortress is already and so i have brought all of the bridging supplies i could spare which is a few stacks of cobblestone slabs we’re gonna head out here into the distance and then on my right hand side somewhere over here

We should start to see the ghostly shape of the nether fortress tower in the distance and i’m going to try and up the gamma so you guys can see that but wow that is quite the distance away we’re going to start bridging out from roughly about this point here

And sooner or later this is going to be worked into the network of pathways we will have traversing the nether and i would love to create a nether hub that takes us to different places in the sky block overworld but of course in the nether there’s no substitute

For just a good old bridge now if this nether fortress tower is anything like the last one and it kind of looks like a face from this angle with two little pointy ears and everything this this is all made out of bottom half slabs so we won’t find anything spawning

On our approach to the tower which is actually very forgiving of the map maker because we could just end up getting fireballed off into the void by some blazes if they spawned in here by default but it looks like it’s all made out of bottom half slabs and we should have no problem

Heading over here without anything spawning in the meantime and from here we can hop on into the tower wander down the staircase and claim our first prize which is a bunch of netherwood not to mention the soul sand it’s growing on and since we will need all of this for

Our later potion brewing i’m going to take all of the soul sand with me not to mention all of the glowstone because right now that is lighting up this bottom half of the tower which could otherwise be a spawnable area and so by removing all of the light sources in this area

We’re going to make it spawnable for anything that wants to spawn down here there’s going to be a couple of zombie pigmen maybe a wither skeleton or two and hopefully some blazes and so that we can avoid getting fireballed by those blazers if they do

End up spawning i’m going to do my best to block off the remainder of this area making sure there is a limited amount of space for the player to get through and right now i need to crouch and jump to get through that and what i’ve done here is create a

Little switchback which should hopefully make things a little bit safer for us we can also create some rails along the side here but i don’t know quite how much material i can spare to do that making sure this is all bottom half slabs once again so nothing will be able

To spawn on it and there are some bottom half slabs on top of the blocks around us but what this does is allow us to break line of sight with anything that might be inside the fortress things like blazers that could attack us from range there may even be a couple of

Regular skeletons that end up spawning in here as well and that way we can break our way in here whenever we want to and just replace that barrier whenever we are done making sure that nothing will be able to fireball us in the meantime because we have this little kind of tiny

Labyrinth to navigate before we end up getting into the fortress but before we try and get any enemies to spawn in there i’m going to head back to the overworld and deposit all of this soul sand and netherwards because there is no replacement for that in the game i don’t

Know if we can buy it from the wandering trader but i doubt it so let’s make sure that gets home safely so we can regrow it and potentially brew some potions a little bit later on if anything i would say the number one rule for this map is that if the map

Gives you any resources do not treat them lightly make sure that you grab everything and that it gets back to your base safely because you don’t know when or if you’ll be able to get any of it again but with that done we return to the nether and

It’s time to start trying to spawn cycle this fortress because yes the blazes have begun to spawn and i’ll take oh dear okay yeah we we are gonna have a little bit of trouble making sure the blazes stay inside the boundary of the tower and there’s a wither skeleton down there as well

He should be easy enough to bait back out to this area and if he can be encouraged to come up the stairs that is we should be able to block him off with the limited height here alternatively i can just use the bow to take pot shots at him down here

And maybe we will get ourselves out first with a skeleton skull if we are lucky but i doubt it i don’t have looting on any of my swords or anything like that so chances are we aren’t going to be getting lucky today naturally it’s going to be a very straightforward task to

Just go back and forth to this fortress a couple of times see if we spawn anything if we don’t walk away go back again and sooner or later we should have spawned enough blazes that we’ll be able to get a couple of blaze rods and that will allow us to craft our

First brewing stands the other thing that’s worth noting about this fortress if you haven’t seen the previous skyblock series i did is that up here on the top of the tower is an active end portal the game does not require you to find a stronghold in this skyblock map

Instead there is simply an active end portal here and you can go and fight the dragon any time now i don’t consider myself necessarily prepared to fight the dragon quite yet i would much prefer to get some better gear on the go beforehand and i feel like there is still a lot of

Our skyblock adventure that we can do without fighting the dragon beforehand but believe me we are going to get to fighting the dragon and beyond in this skyblock series it’s just going to take a little bit of time to get there and after several attempts to spawn mobs

In here i’m really not seeing particularly high spawn rates and it occurs to me that the reason for that may be because i’m close enough to the center of the world that we’re still seeing mobs spawning down there on that very efficient zombie pigman spawning platform so i think instead

What i’m going to do is try and get myself at least 128 blocks away from that by creating a platform out the other side of this nether fortress which is going to be potentially a little bit risky since i’ll have to travel through the nether fortress in order to get back

To the platforms that link me to the rest of the world but here’s hoping that we’ll see a few better spawns if i end up positioning myself further away from the center of the world in the first place Well we’re already getting a few more with the skeleton spawns i can tell you that much are there four of them down there looks like it might just be three either way can take them out with a couple of bow shots from up here trying not to tangle with wither

Skeletons if i can possibly manage it and it looks like they’re actually having trouble getting up the stairs just because of the height of the slabs in there so that’s actually not a bad thing yeah there are five or six of them down here actually there are even more than i initially

Suspected which is good news because there really weren’t that many spawning at all when i was standing on the opposite end so here’s hoping we can just take these guys out and we’ll be able to spawn some blazes okay we have a couple of blazes contained within the body of the tower

Let’s see if we can hop down here give them a couple of quick taps with a sword and not get set on fire too much hopefully we can keep them down there and oh we didn’t get a blaze rod from that one let’s see if this other one will

Deliver because i am very keen on making sure we get some blaze rods today i want to start curing villagers and it will open up so much of the game to us if we do but alas of course we don’t end up getting one this time around This time there’s at least one more blaze down here and hopefully just by virtue of the fact that the other ones didn’t this one will give me a blaze rod fantastic well we actually need two blaze rods of course because one will make the brewing stand but you need blaze

Powder in order to power the brewing stand now it needs to have fuel in the fuel slot and so once again we’re gonna have to wait for another blaze to spawn but that didn’t take long at all and there’s a couple of them down there now it seems like the skeletons that spawned

Down here may have been taking out the blazes which is actually pretty funny i don’t think i’ve ever seen that really happen before so yes we have a couple of blazes down here hopefully one or the other of these will give me another blaze rod and we’ll be good to go

Well luck was finally on my side a couple more blazes ended up spawning and i now have three blaze rods quick look at the stats though i’ve killed 10 blazes and it took me that long to get three of laser rods so i really really didn’t have all that much luck on my

Side but the most important thing is i escaped with my life and now we have enough blaze rods that we can start brewing some potions which means we have everything we need to start curing zombie villagers aside from a zombie villager with three cobblestone and a blaze rod we now have

Access to brewing which is fantastic stuff now let’s get this set up over here the back of the tool shed let’s break down some of these blaze rods into blaze powder we have a fully fueled up brewing stand and now the question remains where are we going to get the

Glass bottles for brewing from well chances are i have a couple of those already yes i certainly do and i have a few more here in the form of healing potions that i could always drink and that would leave me with an empty glass bottle thankfully the mob farm has produced enough witches

In its time that i can get a few glass bottles on the go already so i’ll need three of those we’ll set this up in the brewing stand now and the other ingredients we will need for the potion of weakness don’t even include the netherwart that we got from

The nether earlier all we will need is a spider eye of which i think i have kept a few spares in here some sugar which i have plenty of sugarcane in one of these chests yes there we go and some brown mushrooms which you’ll remember we ended up getting from the mushroom

Island the other day and i have a couple of those here in this chest now i’m only going to take one out of here and make sure i have another one there because while we can get brown mushrooms in other ways i plan on growing a giant mushroom over here once we have

Access to pods all which we can get very easily from growing a natural spruce tree a two by two spruce tree so we don’t need to worry too much about regrowing brown mushrooms we’ll have giant mushrooms before long either way a fermented spider eye is what we need as our first

Ingredient that’s going to go in there regardless of whether there is netherwart in there it’s going to brew up a potion of weakness and then we’ll need to turn that into a splash potion of weakness using our ample supplies of gunpowder from the creepers in the mob farm and that’s gonna net us

Three splash potions of weakness which along with the three golden apples we have is enough to cure three zombie villagers we could even potentially end up getting a little bit more gold using the splash potions to splash more than one zombie villager at a time and

We would end up being able to cure multiple of them at once preserving the splash potions of weakness but we don’t need to worry too much about that because once we get a couple of villagers cured we’ll be able to breed up villagers and from there we should have infinite access to

Villages although we might want to zombify and cure them in future to get better trade prices because resources are scarce here in skyblock now i’m going to get a few more fences and fence gates and trap doors and stuff like that on the go here because one of the things i

Want to do is set up a spawning platform at the bottom of the world where we’re going to be able to find zombie villagers nice and easily and i think i’m going to do that as an extension of my animal farm down here simply because that’s already at the bottom of the world

And it seems like a sensible enough place to start spawning zombie villages now that we have access to soul sand and we got some soul sand from the nether fortress we can use that to create bubble columns allowing us to create a bubble elevator which will propel the villagers up to

The surface if we want to keep them closer to the center of the action at the top of the world there by my other farms but i think this is going to be a great place to start looking for zombie villagers because we just need to create a spawning

Platform out here in the void make sure it’s dark and then zombie villagers will spawn in there along with some of the other mobs i am going to create a little staging area out here somewhere that i can put a fence gate and that way we can trap

The zombie villager in here if we need to that’s going to be nice and straightforward and we’re going to need to set up an area with trap doors to make sure that the zombie villager has something to walk over and we can open that up and prevent any

Other mobs from following any generic zombies or creepers or anything like that we do not want to follow us into this area So this is all looking a little bit rough and ready for now but i think it should work out just fine we’ll create a 5×5 spawning platform over here we’ll put a little hood over the top of it and we’ll probably fill in the back and sides as well so that it’s

Dark in here even during the day and that will allow us to get a few more mobs in the meantime if it’s not already dark but the sun is setting right now so if there’s a chance for us getting a zombie village in nice and easily then

We should be able to do that here now let’s head on over here let’s grab the trapdoors and place them in this spot here those spiders over there should not have an easy time getting to us if we end up closing this off and opening

That up there we go yeah that should be totally fine and we’ll just wait for a couple of zombies to spawn over there we can clear out the mobs that are over there if we need to now despite the fact that we are pretty close to my existing hostile mob farm and

Mobs are probably spawning in there as we speak the mobs on this platform are spawning quite freely thanks to the fact that it is right down here at the bottom of the world where mob spawning is at its most efficient so our proximity to the existing mob farm is not

Too much of a problem what is a problem is the sheer amount of skeletons that have spawned over there that’s kind of frightening now with this area all set up and it seems like it’ll be manageable if any mobs spawn over there i should probably make sure i brought all of the

Potion ingredients and stuff with me so that we can cure a villager if we get one down there so let’s grab the golden apples and the splash potions of weakness we’ll bring all of those down there and we’ll drop them here in the chest for the animal farm that way

If anything happens to me we shouldn’t need to worry about it because all of the supplies to cure the zombie villagers will be close enough by in this chest Yes we finally got one this gold armored body here is going to be our new best friend now let me see if i can place a fence gate in here behind them there we go and then just through precision targeting with the bow and arrow i should be able to take out

The zombies around him and that’s going to leave him open to curing as our first cured zombie villager let’s yep there we go we got the last of those now let me see what i can do about this situation because the trapdoors over there are still closed and we definitely want to make

Sure they are open so that nothing comes over to disturb our zombie villager friend here so there we go all of that has been opened up and we can probably sleep to make it daytime so that we get fewer spawns in here and this guy can start curing with a splash potion of

Weakness thrown at his face and a golden apple implanted in his chops we are ready to cure this guy and get him in here as a full-fledged villager the other zombies will continue to wander towards me and towards our new friend here but hopefully they shouldn’t do any harm because they’ll

Just drop through the trapdoors like they have been doing this whole time and i’m gonna stand a little bit offset from the villager here just in case any of these skeletons come into firing range they shouldn’t but i don’t want them shooting my zombie villager if they do

And i want to make sure that this zombie villager does not despawn while he’s curing so i’m going to babysit him for a little while longer i’m not certain if once the curing process starts it is possible to walk away from them and have them not despawn but

I really don’t want to take that chance so i’m going to wait around a little while longer until he is cured and then hopefully we should be able to let him out of this containment pen maybe get him back up to the island in a minute but at the very least

We can choose his profession there we go our villager is cured we reach the goal the cure and the rest of these can now despawn hopefully the sun will come up very shortly and we should be able to get far enough away from the farm so that we don’t have any

Issues with them and now we get to choose a profession for our brand new villager friend and i think in celebration of the fact that we have cured him using potions we are going to make him a cleric with the brewing stand that i’ve got up here does mean wasting the blaze powder

That we’ve already put in the fuel slot but that’s not a big deal i have another blaze rod and some more blaze powder left over gonna tuck those in there for now and a cleric is an interesting choice for a first village and not the one that

Most people i think would go for a lot of people would go for something like a farmer so that you can trade all of these crops and stuff but i have a particular goal in mind here and that goal is getting a nice easy renewable supply of redstone dust which clerics will give

You as a second tier trade so with a slightly discounted rotten flesh trade look at that he’s already trading us redstone dust that’s fantastic news and that means we can trade away all of this and there we go we got the gold and lapis trades unlocked as well so once we

Have an excess of gold we should be able to get ourselves a decent amount of emeralds from this guy but in the meantime 24 redstone dust in an instant and even some emeralds left over if we wanted to trade for some lapis the lapis gets us blue die as well even though

We should be able to get corn flowers from the plains biomes around here but now we’ve got these trades locked in we can get ourselves all of the redstone dust and emeralds that we need thanks to the amount of rotten flesh i’ve been gathering he will even start trading us

Glowstone as well which is going to be very useful in future and i think that is where we’re going to wrap up this episode of skyblock 116 with 48 redstone dust already acquired and the chance for a little more in future thank you so much for watching this episode of
