Hello everyone my name is pics Horace and welcome back to the Minecraft Survival Guide hope you guys are having a good day today we’re back here at the mountain project and I’m gonna make a start on a secret project inside of this the tallest of the mountains so far in Fact the tallest period I think we have actually got a peak on this thing now I’m probably gonna modify that slightly so it’s not so spiky at the top but it comes to roughly 220 blocks high it’s actually why it 220 around I think here This is roughly the spot where if we get to 17 are right there so 220 up a few blocks at the top and this seems like even though it’s not quite finished yet this seems like the kind of mountains that anybody who is a mountain at living Species like dwarves in like the lore of JRR tolkien and so forth are probably going to want to claim as their home and I’ve mentioned in previous episodes potentially making this section of the cliff face here into some sort of door into a dwarven base and I think today is The day we’re gonna do that I’ve been doing a little bit of redstone wrangling off-camera just to see if we can fit a redstone door into this space and I think even if we have to adjust the overhang a little bit here and there I Think we’ll be able to get it done we’ve done some honey block piston doors in the past some honey block and slime block combo piston doors and I think one of those is going to be perfect for fitting into this space so I’m gonna head off and get some supplies for that I’ll see you guys in a second okay so we’re back and I’ve got the resources I think I will need this design is actually going to be fairly light on a redstone components the main thing you’ll need is a lot of slime blocks and a lot of honey blocks as well as an Adequate supply of observers and sticky pistons I have also brought a little bit of glass with me because we’re going to need that to transmit the redstone power up a tower of blocks and I think we’re gonna make a start carving out this section here and making sure there is Some room on the other side because yes for a start it’s a little bit dark in there but also we need some place to stand while we can build out the rest of this and since these blocks here are the ones that are going to be moving I’m Actually going to start making a floor of furnaces here because furnaces are of course not in push of all blocks they actually look quite cool as floor tiles and I need to make sure that this section is going to be isolated from the movements of any Slime blocks or honey blocks that I have resting against these blocks here because this section right here is where we’re going to be building our redstone door whoa and the big problem is that we get stuff dropping on us from above I really need to light this whole place up Better of course you can hardly see it to begin with but yeah we have the ravine problem the infamous ravine problem of Minecraft where creepers will end up dropping on you from above if you’re not too careful so for that yeah I should probably light this up and I May need to make a couple of repairs to the side of my mountain now yep that creeper was very much not a team player although he did at least fall on me before I started placing any of these more valuable redstone components so we’ll take that as a small Mercy the problem of the using furnaces of course is that anytime I want to place anything on the may end up right-clicking and opening the interface anyway let’s get started on our piston door these are going to be made out of interlocking sections of slime blocks And honey blocks in much the same way as we have done doors like this before and for the sake of this design I’m going to keep the whole thing fairly consistent in terms of the blocks we’re using even though we don’t technically need all five of these slime blocks here to pull Three blocks over it’s going to help for the design that I have in mind and yeah you know what I think we might just have enough space to fit this whole mechanism inside the mountain we’ve already got so on each side we’re gonna be building out these segments of five slime blocks or Hunny blocks in a kind of mirror image like so and then we need to alternate the other kind of block on top of them like so so anytime a slime lock could be touching a slime block in these cases it’s gonna be a honey block instead and We have a two block high section like that as well basically making these sort of loose fat L shapes each time we do it and we’re gonna do this whole thing six blocks high which is roughly the size of the cliff face that we have on the Outside here if I start breaking through on this side that’s probably going to be oh we’re actually relatively few mobs which is quite nice yeah this whole thing is only seven blocks high we have one block up there that we are not going to move and For the sake of this design I think I am going to have to put a block there which isn’t gonna change the silhouette of this door all that much but it is going to make sure that one block that couldn’t be dragged around by these slime blocks can be removed and we can Just put a block in front of that to prevent there being a hole there later now I should be able to just fill these back in right and we’re good to go let’s open up the redstone box and let’s get some sticky pistons and some observers Which is what we’re going to be using to move this whole segment around two blocks away from either the honey block or the slime block that is sticking out of this side we want to make a two deep section of pistons like so sticky pistons in this case and this is going To be a double piston extender of the similar design that we have built before and if I start to remove these blocks here yeah we’re gonna have to modify the overhang there just a little bit but hopefully that should look okay from the outside on top of these we’re going to Be placing some observers facing in towards at the redstone door contraption like this and like this and that is going to be providing power to the Pistons making sure that they can pull these things around once we got this in place we can start thinking about where The redstone current is going to travel which is probably going to be underneath the floor here and we should have enough room to do that so we can start making a tower of these going inwards like so we’ll need three of those one for every block which sticks out of the side of This design and the cool thing is no matter how big your door is you can actually tile this design upwards pretty much infinitely as long as you alternate slime blocks and honey blocks you don’t have to worry about any of this colliding with each other for a quick Demonstration of how this works I put a block next to this sticky piston here and a button on top of it to activate the observers and how this works is we push the button there we get a double piston extension which were attracts this section of the door and the way It’s going to work is that the redstone current will meet all of these observers activate all of the observers and Pistons at once meaning every single section of this door will get retracted at the same time we need to copy the design of pistons and observers on the Opposite side making sure that we pillow those up in exactly the same way and then underneath here somewhere around there we’re going to start taking out a redstone signal that’s going to travel both directions both this way and that way and with the addition of a couple of repeaters we can Synchronize the timings so this entire door opens at once or if you prefer and if you have the space you can always add some delay to each set of Pistons so sections of the door open at different times which could be quite a cool effect but personally I like the effect of the Entire door opening at once for this design we’re going to figure out exactly where the redstone wire is getting power from in a second but for now we’ve just laid out an area here it’s gonna be sent through a repeater here to make sure the Signal is maximized so it can go up a glass tower and the glass is going to go in front of each of these Pistons like so and then we’re going to start a tower upwards so this entire thing can be basically a two by one footprint making It nice and compact well come all the way to the top here place a your redstone dust on this piece of glass and that one and then we want a piece of glass in front of that like so there we go transmitting the signal upwards don’t worry if the observers pulse the Pistons For now it’s not gonna do anything to the layout of the door then we want another dust there piece of glass in front of that so that’s forming a tower that the redstone current can travel up you can also do this with glowstone or any other transparent block and then Once that’s come down to here can’t see the redstone dust through the underside of the glass but it is there trust me once it comes down to this section here we can have it going down and connecting to the repeater there and now any input On this site if it’s a stone button for example which I think I have a couple of spares of in here if we press the button at like so all of these Pistons should now activate dragging that section of the door across and we can close it once Again using the same a formation oh that looks like it’s broken something so it’s probably dragging another block with it let’s take a look at what happened there has that one bin messed up by another block that was above it I think it might have been oh no that’s it of course it’s Actually been dragging these blocks around underneath here because I set those out temporarily and was going to remove them afterwards okay so we should just be able to put all of this stuff back in place I’ll disable these pistons for now and activate the mechanism again and it should just push everything back Into the right position but yeah that was a little bit confusing there for a second once again that is why I made this floor here out of non-potable blocks at like furnaces because I was worried something like that was going to happen but no worries we can pop another Sticky piston in place there and everything should be back to normal so now when I press this button down here the entire door should move yeah it looks like that is dragged across no problem and it closes again perfect okay great that that’s what we Wanted to see and we can make some of these things out of slightly more visible blocks a little bit later if we want to but yet it’s gonna be good to have at least a temporary redstone wire in place so we can see the door in action crawling under here thanks to That nifty electric crawling effect we can actually take a signal out this way and have it come up underneath these rows of Pistons over here and once again we might have to make a couple of quick and modifications to the outside here so we can make sure that this all sits in a Tower but then yeah okay once we’ve removed those blocks we should be able to tower the redstone up here nice and easily so once again we’re gonna have a repeater here to boost the signal a little bit and the signal can get taken up a Tower of glass up here will pop a Block in there and a block up here as well once we’ve got the redstone in place like so and just two more pieces of redstone dust we should have this door all wired up let’s head around the side here to our temporary input button press the button and the entire door Should have moved at once let’s take a quick look and see if that worked yes it did perfect okay and once I’m stopped colliding with the ceiling we can come out here and I can show you that is how the outside it looks now not bad do we Make any weird modifications to the overhang it’s looking a bit boxy there but I think we can probably create a little bit more of an organic shape there and that is quite a sizable looking door I think that’s pretty good should be able to just hop in and enter Our Dwarf Fortress from there we can even set up something underneath this that could maybe swap these blocks out for stairs that would be kind of cool if we can swing it with the space we’re working with here but I like that a lot and now we just need to figure out a Place on the outside where a button is going to go I think this block here seems like a sensible place for it will pop on down there and let’s see what space we have behind oh wow and that actually lines up pretty well looks like All we need to do is make sure there’s a piece of redstone dust on this block here and then yep that works famously great stuff Wow okay um and I guess oh we might have to make that into a stone stair just to make sure it doesn’t cut Off the redstone signal here with that be not a problem pop a temporary block there stone stairs here and boom you would never know that wasn’t a full stone block we can put another block over the top there and now the mechanism for our door is complete and a very Discreet stone button there is actually gonna make it look like it blends in with the rock and without knowing that button is there walking around it like so you would barely notice it from the outside which is great for a secret entrance you could even if you want to Dress it up with a couple of dummy buttons to make it look like you’ve just scattered some buttons around as though there is fallen rocks from further up in the mountain maybe like a little avalanche or something made a cobblestone could come down the site here and any of these buttons could Potentially be the secret entrance but the one you’re looking for is this one over here great I like that a lot and on the inside of here we can start mapping out where we are going to lay out our door fan base and a bit of a time jump Later because I just spent a bit more of a twitch stream building up some more of these mountains we have one of these guys apparently just becoming a mountainside hermit now like the villager over at founders Forge I like observing pillagers from the tops of these mountains they sort of act like The Penguins in those penguin games you know the ones where they go up the stairs and then just go down the slide and that kind of I don’t know whatever mechanism it is or magnetism that kind of rocks them back and forth they just end up going down the same section over And over again in a spiral that’s sort of what pillagers do when they don’t have anything to path bind to when they don’t see you they just sort of mill around in the same area and they occasionally get stuck up the side of mountains I wonder if I’m gonna run into Any of his friends while I’m down here but one thing I do need to do before we continue any more work on the door which is up there in the side of the mountain is definitely light this place up some more you all right up there buddy he’s Having target practice on the stone up there yeah fair enough I do need to do a lot of lighting underneath here I need to craft a bunch more torches and we need to start placing them around here because I would very much like to make Sure this is a mob proof area I haven’t been lighting this stuff up as I go and that is a big problem as you can see from the fact that the zombies and creepers are now spawning and apart finding their way towards me but I think the next stage all interesting I always Like these little patches where you get to see the snowy gray and more about that later I guess but yeah I I’m thinking what we’re gonna do is start out by building kind of a bridge leading down from this thing it’s gonna be like a bridge walkway kind of Thing that’s going to lead down into the main structure of the mountain because if you think about the dwarf ruins they’re the mines that they explore in Lord of the Rings for example they ended up going down into the earth and finding a bunch of stuff below the surface and while Obviously we are entering in the side of a mountain so we’re not technically going underground as such it’s going to be nice to have an entrance where our this annoying little guy so that we can have an entrance where that door will lead downwards into the bowels of the Mountain and we can build a bunch of cool stuff on the surface without having to dig out too much of the terrain around it that is the idea so what I think I want to do is build a walkway that leads down from that and have a Grand bridge that maybe comes down to maybe not all the way to the ground but at least like to at least half way along here and maybe the pillars that we’re going to build in here can rise up around it I think that’s gonna look pretty epic and I think we’ll start off By building that in the form of a time-lapse Hey folks welcome back I hope you enjoyed the time-lapse and I think we’re probably going to leave this bridge construction there for the time being I want to do a lot more work on this but I simply don’t have either the time or quite frankly the stone right now I’ve Been trying to work on getting a little bit more stone we’ve had the cobblestone generator running over there for a little bit just to get myself a little bit more smooth stone because this entire thing seemed to be that kind of make more sense to be made out of smooth Stone I like the idea of them working on this thing the dwarves who are going to be inhabiting this underground area and just hearing the entire thing out of the rock so that like this whole thing would have been completely solid and they’d have left these kind of pillars of raw Stone which eventually I think over time I want this to sort of be like an abandoned civilization and eventually this whole thing would have fallen into ruin and decay and so I kind of shaped out all of this stuff in stone and we could probably go in and texturize this A little bit with stone brick later once I’m happier with the layout of things but I like the fact that the stone is almost if not like melting then at least it’s kind of got stalactite and stuff forming it’s that like tight to the ones that hang down from the ceiling I’m Pretty sure anyway yeah there is a way to remember it I can never quite remember it but this section around here is sort of linked by these loose bridges or sort of support kind of structures here and there that have just become laden with rock over time or maybe the Rock itself has just kind of you know used down somehow I’m not quite sure how I’m imagining this but I like the idea of it all just kind of eroding and drooping down like this gives it this ghostly almost haunted feel to these pillars and the pillars are pretty tall It goes up to there which is I think maybe you know some 40 or so blocks above the ground and I like that sense of height in here I want to work with that sense of height a lot because we have a lot of it to play with inside of Here and I really want this place to feel a little bit special but it’s going to require a lot of resources so I’m going to need to go off-camera and do a little bit more of the resource gathering side of things or at the very Least afk around here so I can produce a lot more stone stone is obviously kind of the theme here I’m using it to create all of the mountains as well so I’ll need a heck of a lot more of it if we’re gonna do any more on this project later on but I hope you’ve enjoyed this look at the start of what’s eventually going to be a bit of a dwarven ruin base down here and it’s kind of fun to be able to hide all of this under the enormous mountains that we’re building and so I hope you enjoyed this episode over the Minecraft Survival Guide my name has been Pixar if so don’t forget to leave a like on the episode if you enjoyed
