Hello everyone sally here and welcome back to another bedrock edition tutorial today i’ll be showing you how to build a very simple cheap easy and reliable item sorter and item filter in your bedrock edition worlds these things are absolutely crucial in so many different ways to help you stay organized sort out Your items from your mob farms your minds and in general your junk chests these are seriously one of the most important pieces of redstone that you can have in your world and today i’ll be showing you a new design that you can build as of the most recent bedrock Edition update before we get too far into the video if you’re not aware of what an item filter is it’s an incredibly basic little bit of redstone that is going to be sorting out items from an input so this would be the input to your system we can throw pretty much Anything that we like into this system and this item filter will sort out one item type it can only do one item per slice but this one is sorting out blocks of diamond anything that’s not a block of diamond will be going into the output chest and blocks of diamond will be Going down into this chest here so you can of course set up an entire array of these sorters and just put them one next to each other often to infinity basically to build your own little storage system this is incredibly convenient for mob farms and mines and Any place where you have a bunch of a bunch of different specific item types that you want to sort out into different columns so for example this one is set up for all of these various items here if we toss these items into the chest along with a bunch of other stuff that Is not being sorted by our system all the items that should be sorted go into their appropriate chest and everything that doesn’t fit inside of the system we’ll go into the overflow so this right here is a pretty standard items order that’s been around for basically like a Decade it feels like and we have many different ways of building this little item sorter this is a very customizable little system and in today’s video i’ll be showing you a brand new one that we can build as of 1.17 using the target block so let me explain why and how we Can build a new one the most recent bedrock edition update 1.17 has fixed target blocks these things will now conduct redstone power which means that we can now use them to build item sorters so as you can see if we power this with a repeater it’s going to Turn off that redstone torch and more importantly these target blocks actually redirect redstone lines so as you can see this is a straight line of redstone if you put a target block next to it it’s actually going to redirect that redstone line and then we can use this Target block to power redstone torches and repeaters and any number of other things just by powering the redstone this is very similar to the soft inversion that we have on pistons which is what we previously used to make item filters on bedrock so as you can see if We power this lever that is going to extend the piston but also turn off of these redstone torches and this is a little bit of a quirky mechanic of a bedrock edition that we’ve been using to make item filters previously if you’re familiar with bedrock edition item sorters then you will probably recognize This design right here which is a very standard bedrock edition design you would have your piston to redirect that redstone dust so that you could tile this that would turn off of the redstone torch when this redstone gets powered but with this one it of course requires A piston which requires iron and cobble and logs and redstone kind of expensive and you would also need a piece of obsidian to block that piston from extending and making noise which is a little bit of a downside but nowadays we can actually make this system significantly simpler and cheaper as Well simply by replacing that piston with a target block and that is pretty fantastic this of course is 100 tileable and one wide tileable as well so of course this is minecraft there are many dozens of different ways to build these items orders and there’s also two main Types of items order as well this right here is like the big standard design that you’ve probably seen absolutely everywhere for years and years this is the impulse sv items order and it works lovely on java edition however on bedrock it is slightly unreliable due to this repeater and magic reasons so due To this additional delay sometimes the items that should go into your chest end up in your overflow and it’s just a bit silly so there’s also this way of building it but again this has the same issue on bedrock edition with that repeater and then using target blocks or Pistons on bedrock edition you can build it in this way an absolutely tiny little item sorter of course this one isn’t perfect it kind of goes forwards a little bit and your chest layout has to either be like this nice a diagonal kind of looking thing or you can move it Backwards and just have a nice like stack that goes forwards it kind of pushes it forwards a lot but maybe that’ll work fine for you depending on your situation or maybe you only need a single double chest so it’s not a problem regardless of all that this is Probably the main bedrock edition design that you’ll be using going forwards is the same as the previous designs but we swap out that piston for the target blocks and it has absolutely no issues on the front side either you get a nice lovely stack of chests going upwards and It just looks nice and clean so as you can see this system has the ability to be tiled next to each other and indeed all of these items orders that i just showed you are indeed one wide tileable now the nice thing about these ones is that they have three redstone dust so They are actually an overflow proof a system which means that even if this first slot of items hits 64 it is never going to break these slots next to it but that does mean that you need 41 items in the first slot so it requires a Kind of a lot of investment this kind of system is the best of four items that you’re going gonna be getting a lot of like your cobblestone your stones your mob drop items and other stuff like that but there is an alternative system for the more valuable items such as diamonds Or with the skulls or other things that you don’t get that much of and that is this kind of item sorter right here this is the very standard one that you would use on java edition and this has been around for years and years as well as You can see again it’s got that repeater so it has some reliability issues now on bedrock edition you can actually build this one right here which i just came up with today and i haven’t seen it around before and it just works pretty well so this one has the same kind of chest Issue on the front where everything gets bumped to forwards quite a bit but again because this is for valuable items you’re likely not going to have more than a double chest of like wither skulls or diamonds anyway the main pro of these two redstone item filters is That they can be set up to require a vastly less of your valuable items so as you see i’ve changed up the item filter to only have two of our valuable items and then a bunch of filler items this is a perfectly fine thing to do however it Is not overflow proof so there is the possibility that if you do fill up your double chest and your hopper and you get 64 items in your first slot that is going to power more than two pieces of redstone dust and therefore it can power these sections next to it breaking the Entire system keep that in mind it’s not a perfect system it does have some downsides but it’s going to require thousands and thousands of valuable items in order to ever break there’s also a third type of item sorter that is for non-stackable items this one doesn’t have any form of filter and it’s Actually raised up a block from the standard item filters so as we see if we put some regular stackable items through here this is only going to get a signal strength of one and all of those stackable items are going to end up in the overflow chest but if we put through Some non-stackable items that’s going to make this activate with a signal strength of three and all of those non-stackable items will go down into the chest so this is a very nice addition to have on any form of storage system where you’re going to be sorting out stackable and non-stackable items so Those are all the basics of item filters and item sorters on a bedrock edition if you want to learn a lot more about these learn the exact mechanics behind how exactly they work how the redstone works and if you want to see a bunch of other item sorter designs including some very Fast items orders i’m going to direct you to a video that i made a couple of months ago detailing like 20 different item sorter designs definitely check that out if you’re interested but otherwise let’s just hop into the tutorial shall we to build a standard items order with overflow protection You’re gonna need a seven long area that is at least four blocks tall so we’re going to start off this build by placing in ourselves three double chests going upwards like so you can of course put more double chest on top of this you can Put less a double chest you can have the double chest going down into the ground you can do just about anything you want it’s seriously very flexible to the system that you want to build regardless we’re just gonna have three double chests for now we’re gonna put a hopper Going into the back of each one of those double chests you have to crouch to place in these hoppers place in yourself a temporary block with a hopper facing into that and then remove your temporary block we’re gonna place in ourselves a solid block right here at this layer With a comparator reading out of it like so go ahead and put another solid block right there and then we’re going to place in ourselves a piece of glass a temporary block a saw block there and a solid block is there and now we can go Ahead and place in our target block and the redstone torch on the side of it we now need to go ahead and remove that block and that one right there and cover up all three of these blocks with a piece of redstone dust that is now the Actual items order itself done but of course we need to install the item filter and configure the system so that it actually sorts items for us so if we want the system right here to sort cobblestone we’re gonna drop a stack of cobblestone into the front of that and Then we’re gonna put one filler item in each of the other four slots these should be items that are not going to be going through your items order and you can even name these items with a custom name that way none of these other items ever come through the system stack with These ones and eventually break your system making it not overflow proof so when all is done and dusted you should have a total of 41 items in the front and then four filler items in the back side so that is a single item filter if you want to build more of these you Simply put chest to the left or to the right of the original pillar put your hoppers on the back side get your pointed hopper right there and then of course you rebuild all of this redstone so you continue these two blocks your target block and your redstone torch Your redstone dust your glass and all the rest of it just goes exactly where the original slice is you can build it really easily once you have your first slice so now of course you need to set up the item filter inside of this hopper i’m going to set up this one for Cobblestone as well and now we need to set up a hopper line going across the top to actually deliver items to these two slices so we’re going to place in a temporary block right there with a chest on top of it that is the output chest place the two hoppers going across the System pointing into one another and then a third one and a chest on top of that this is the input to your entire system so now if we want to test out our system we can toss in a stack of cobblestone and a bunch of other random Items as well all the random items will go into our overflow chest as you can see there and all the cobblestone will go through the system get sucked down into this hopper as you can see it’s filling up that first filter and then the redstone will start activating all The cobblestone is going to go down into this first chest here once that chest and all these hoppers fill up then this item filter is going to fill up with 64 items and the cobblestone is going to go over to the next slot which is also sorting out the cobblestone if this one Right here was sorting out like stone for example then the cobblestone would simply go into your output chest because there’s nowhere in the cobblestone slot for it to go so after that little tutorial it should be pretty obvious how you build this little item sorter for your valuable items that does not have Overflow protection it’s basically the same process but this one does require a slab right here that way the redstone can actually go down this block and power your target block you could also put a piece of glass right there if you felt like it but of course slabs are Cheaper now the item filter for this one is simply two valuable items five filler five filler five filler and 5 filler of course you’ll want to rename these ones properly that way nothing ever gets in here and your system is less likely to break if you learned something new from This video or just enjoyed it in general then of course be sure to leave a like as it really does help out the video and the channel an absolute ton if you’re new here then maybe
