Sniffer & Snifflet Coming to Minecraft THIS WEEK + 2023 Mob Vote CONFIRMED!

Last year Mojang asked us the community to decide between three potential Minecraft Mobs the Minecraft Community decided on the sniffer and so now that mop is coming to the game as early as this week however the slipper we’re going to be seeing in Minecraft is going

To be very different to the sniffer we voted on quite a few of those things are temporary but some of those changes are permanent it seems and so let’s talk about the new sniffer versus the old sniffer but let’s also mention that the mob vote has been confirmed to be

Happening this year we now know some new details about that so let’s go into all of the new 1.20 stuff including new features the sniffer and indeed the snifflet and the mob vote as a whole after not many major announcements in January February seems to be the big

Season of 1.20 stuff and this is an incredibly exciting time that you can subscribe if you want to stay up to date with but with that said let’s talk about the sniffer because it was announced via minecraft.net with an official confirmation that the sniffer is coming to Minecraft 1.20 this hasn’t actually

Technically been confirmed till just now when we vote on a mob it is only coming to the game at some Future Point the goat is the most famous example of this but there is never a direct confirmation that it ties into the theme or even is

Coming in the next update and so this is fun to see but it’s also fun to see that the sniffer will be coming in a very soon Bedrock beta preview and also a Java snapshot this is happening very very soon this is the exact same timeline they’ve said for the archeology

And given that we’re seeing this announcement between then and your Wednesday I think that literally as soon as two days from now we might be playing around with the snipper but the sniffer we’ll be playing around with won’t be the finished version as these clarify here in the earliest snapshots betas and

Previews you’ll be able to find the snipper in creative mode without all of its functions for example finding and hatching the egg so the sniffer is going to be coming to Minecraft this week however we’re mostly going to be seeing the model the point of Bedrock beta

Previews and the point of java snapshots is to you know kind of bug test things is to get feedback on stuff and so we’re mostly going to be giving those forms of feedback on the model and the design and the animations and not so much on the actual Behavior we have seen these

Now we’re gonna actually be adding those things they have confirmed before 1.20 they’ll be adding different functionality however it’s going to be different to the Minecraft live version which you might recall was found in underwater chess shipwrecks was the thing that were mentioned uh for some reason shipwrecks were going to have

This weird archaeological feature however after adding a feature directly named after archeology it’s the archeology uh you might know about and so after adding that they’ve decided to change this mob and instead of having his eggs found in chess they’re going to be found in suspicious sand they say

Right here the suspicious sand also contains other objects like Pottery shards uh which to me is confirmation that suspicious sand will hold at least three things there is Pottery shards which are used to make these pots we saw confirmed last week there is the sniffer eggs which are used to make these giant

Guys and then there is going to be at least a third option is this going to be a brand new item I don’t imagine so it could just be again emeralds or diamonds it could be anything uh you know kind of pointless if they really want to make it

They can do anything they want in there but there is going to be other objects besides Pottery shards and the sniffer which does add some extra legs to this whole archeology thing and also you can see the Synergy between these two features hopefully and uh yeah once uh

They say you’ve been after egg it’s time to help it hatch I implore you to pay close attention to this part of the process because you have not lived until you’ve seen a snifflet burst out of its shell Yes you heard it right there when

A sniffer bursts out the shell he is not going to be a sniffer he’s a snifflet at first because that is a baby sniffer’s term this is super adorable and it is also interesting that we’re going to have a Minecraft mob which doesn’t become a baby by taking two versions of

Itself but instead it becomes a baby by hatching from a shell okay you know just again interesting uh Minecraft stuff right there uh there is obviously the chicken which does that right now but you can also free those will you be able to breed the sniffer it doesn’t

Necessarily sound like you will anyway once your sniffle is born and you’ve stopped cooing over how cute it is it will grow up into a snipper this mob is not only huge you can say that again seriously the the size of this mob is really hard to gauge from some of these

Pictures right here so instead just really look at it compared to the size of the player in this video from before but also uh there is this interesting thing that it will the the sniffer is a botanist and so can sniff out snip out seeds that used to exist when they first

Roamed the Overworld you can plant them to fill your game with the new decorative plant again there’s an interesting thing here do they mean plants as in multiple types of plants or do they mean plants as in uh you know multiple off the same plant for instance

You can have one type of sausage and you can have sausages or you could have five different types of sausages and that’s sausages too there is a interesting thing about single plurals here do you know what you want an English less than the middle of this you know sometimes uh

There are fet words which are the same when they’re single and plural so sheep as an example fish is another example but if you’re referring to lots of types of a fish that is fishes wow there we go fun fact of toy cat maybe it’s also fun

That there’s one sheep there is two sheep there is three sheep unless we’ve got like five different types of sheep in which case there’s five different types of sheeps you know it’s an interesting way to distinguish it’s called the singular plural and now you know about English but you’re here to

Learn about the sniffer damn it and yeah he’s super cute uh however most of the features won’t be coming right away but it is a fun way to kind of tie archeology and have more features in there and so it sounds like the next snapshot whether that’s this week or the

Next one is going to be a potentially big one however in this exact same post where they basically say here’s the sniffer we’ve changed it a little bit but without really saying it that way uh they also do make some confirmations about the mob Vogue so they ask which

The features that are going to be included in Minecraft 1.20 this is a confirmation that over the next few weeks they are going to be keeping up these announcements I mean it’s incredible we saw archeology a 20 uh you know 2020 feature uh finally uh be announced last Friday then we’ve got the

Sniffer coming to Minecraft that said today it sounds as though they are working out like a hybrid announcement style for updates they mostly work on features than the announcement and then a few days later we can play them for ourselves it’s a very interesting idea

We’ll see if it works out for them and in this case it is something I am very excited for and so that has been the news regarding the sniffer which again we’ll be playing around with potentially as soon as this Wednesday I think the sniffer more than any other feature is

Going to inspire a debate about what really makes something minecrafty versus what makes something feel like it’s a mod and honestly the answer is going to be really hard to come across because the sniffer is much bigger and much weirder than existing mobs it has animations which are to a much higher

Standard but shouldn’t Minecraft be going for a higher standard over time or should they be still aiming just to add features to a 2011 game it’s a it’s a real hard challenge to think about I mean if you look at the dragon egg as an example that is a feature that was

Clearly designed to bring Minecraft into the future but the art style didn’t follow and so it looks so weird by today’s standards is Minecraft going to drag uh 1.20 us into a slightly better future or are we going to have some more features that remind us of a weird past

We won’t know until the future but what I do know just before we leave news for today something I found that I have no idea where to fit this is the fact that on the Java Edition you can actually cure baby zombie baby zombie villagers while they’re riding a chicken and so

That means that the Villager can eventually Crow up and so then you have a villager who’s riding a chicken even if he’s got a profession I thought it was stupid and I had no idea which video to include it in so I did it but this
