Beating the game the amount of stuff that you can do places you can explore and things you can build are crazy i’m a fan of survival island maps i’ve been playing them since minecraft alpha and beta and i’ve also played some survival island mod packs recently which made me think

What are the best mods to create survival island experiences in minecraft without all of the other random mods that confuse things in all of these mod packs that i’ve been playing this was also an idea from a subscriber who sent me the challenge of making the best survival island mod pack

Well challenge accepted in this video i’ll be showing you how to turn minecraft into a survival island game without further ado let’s get into the video so first up we’re going to need some kind of terrain generator to form our island of course without this we’ll have to go

Scouting in a new world to find a perfect sized place which is not fun the survival island generator mod is a highly configurable mod that lets us use the brand new islands generator preset when creating a new world in order to make a new survival island that fully supports custom biomes

The islands don’t have a climate system so sometimes deserts and snow biomes may spawn alongside each other but this gives us the perfect new system to have a fairly nice-sized island to survive on that isn’t one of those 10 or 20 block islands that most maps give you

This island generator by default spawns a forest island so this is all we really need to survive in you can basically configure it so you only spawn on one lone island in the world or so that you have the ability to be surrounded by other islands too

This is the one that i’m going to do because i want other islands to spawn and for us to put some other biomes on there so we’ll be spending most of our time on one island but let’s add some biomes into the game too there’s a big choice

Of biomods but for this one i chose to go with oh the biomes you’ll go which adds a creative set of new ones to the game the reason why i chose this one over by ohm so plenty is because that has its own generator and thus didn’t want to work with the

Custom islands generator type that we need to use here this will serve the purpose of diversifying the world and our surroundings if we decide to venture out to the other surrounding islands scattered nearby next up let’s make minecraft just that little bit tougher if this is a survival island game then

Where’s the survival element let’s enhance and change the mechanics of the game’s survival system to offer us an additional challenge and to spice things up a little i chose to add the survival mod which enhances the realism of the game the survive mod is really nice and this makes it slightly more

Difficult through the additions of mechanics like thirst stamina and temperature to the game the first bar is placed above the hunger bar and means you’ll have to drink water by crouching and drinking from a water source block or drinking a bottle of water it’s important to not let this go low

The temperature system in the mod also lets us know how hot or cold the current biome is with the brand new wool armor added in the mod it helps increase your resistance to the cold in certain biomes whilst the stiffened honey armor improves heat resistance when in the desert

This is important so you don’t get hypo or hypothermia although we’ll be starting off in a forest biome this makes exploring the surrounding islands and biomes still more challenging you’ll also need to sleep when playing with this mod in order to function your body will become slower or weaker with debuffs over time

And you’ll lose vision for an example not only this but to touch it off the stamina system is impacted by certain actions in the world like running jumping and more and it’s only refillable by sleeping for the mobs we won’t actually be adding any new mobs to the game instead

We’ll be upgrading the looks of the current vanilla ones sure it would be interesting to add tigers and random other dangerous animals to our island but the game already has danger at night and we can’t really control the spawning of these certain mobs here the basic mobs in minecraft get an

Upgrade with a better animal models mod which replaces the models of the existing vanilla creatures and adds new textures and animations to them too making them look far better than before this just makes the game more immersive and it adds some realism and change to normal minecraft

Because we’re trying to stray away from the original minecraft look and feel here next up is the dynamic surroundings mod this mod consists of multiple segments sound control environments and mob effects the sound effects mod minimizes repeat playing of specific sounds over time cutting down on certain noises it also

Adds sound blocking to prevent some sounds from playing as well as sound volume scaling that decreases or increases the volume of certain sounds that are too soft or hard the cave reverb is probably the best thing about this mod because it adds sound decay to the game that’s

Larger based upon the size of the cave as well as sound occlusion that dampens sound effects the further they travel through blocks this just generally makes the world sound so much better and it adds a huge layer of realism which we’re going to need here the mob effect segment adds sound effects for

Players villagers and certain other mobs when making footprints as well as adding particles on soft surfaces when you’re moving and walking there’s breath particles in the colder and underwater regions of the game tool or weapon swing sound effects item toolbar changing sound effects and it also disables the critical particle

Trail when you use arrows the environment part of this mod adds new biome sounds random sound spots new village sounds waterfall splashing acoustics an aurora borealis effect that has the chance to spawn in the northern sky above in some biomes fog is now also based on weather time of day and the season

The steam fire and bubble jets fireflies that float around flowers at night and there’s new water and lava drip visuals and sounds this is a huge impact to the game’s believability and it makes surviving alone very different which is what we really need from this set of mods

So we’ve improved the world generation we’ve improved vanilla features and we’ve expanded upon the engine and the sound system now let’s get into the visuals portion of our mod pack we’ll be installing optifine for the sole reason of making everything generally look better for this setup we’ll have to use

Optifine’s forge mod to allow forging optifine to work concurrently together this mod is called optiforge and it allows forge and optifine to run alongside each other without any problems optifine will let us enable animations for certain blocks in the game like grass and crops and tree leaves

And make them appear to blow in the wind it will also allow us to add more particle effects and make the game look higher quality with certain enhancements now with the use of optifine we can now install shader packs to entirely overhaul the game’s visuals if you’ve seen my three recent videos
