Creating a minecraft skin with blockbunch this is easy as follows you click on minecraft skin down here and then you can pick from a bunch of different entities in my case i will be working with the steve model because the resolution in this case there will not Be the default 16 by 16. i want to have four more pixels per individual pixel i had in the past and thus choose to work with 32 by 32 instead i’m going to keep the posts active because it allows me to see more of the model and also where the Skin is applied and then i’m going to show you something else i like to do when i’m working with skins and now we get presented with this model of steve that has a bit of a pretty big texture from blockbunch you can see where things are this is usually applied when you add Templates to something but in my case there is something i’d like to do differently with this competitor when you’re just working with skins the way you are here because if i wanted to paint let’s say for example on the inside of the arms the way i have to do that is either by Deselecting arm or hiding it or deselecting or hiding the body like that and then painting but maybe i want to see everything at once at the same time then i go to file i go down to convert project i change the project into a bedrock model i go confirm go into Animate click on add animation just confirm and then i’m going to pull apart the model so i can see all individual pieces at once this is a super effective way to get a full view of the character because you can jump from anime to paint it stays in the Same pose as in your anime tab if you go back to animate and then edit it is now brought together like it was before it’s non-animated if you go to edit and then go to paint then it stays that way as well so you can preview your character Back and forth as you’re working go to animate with your animation active then to paint and you can continue painting with it broken apart if i’m not using photoshop where i simply could take my skin and just increase the resolution to 128 128 instead from the original resolution Then what i can do is to right click here in the background bring in a picture by load and in this case i’m going to locate one of my skins here in the computer give me a second there we go we have this one over here click right So now that one is brought in if i right click again and i click on back and i click on position i can now drag this skin and place it somewhere where i can see as many of the colors as possible where i want to work then i click on Stop background positioning right here and i close this little bar up at the top now my previous skin as you can see here is located in the background i have all of the different texture fields and colors that i need in order to be able to make my skin in The higher resolution in the next step now what i will be doing is starting up what i think with the face work up some of the details there and then go to the body because i do believe the body is slightly simpler alright so i’ve just Briefly started to lay out the shape of my mustache and then also of course use the paint bucket tool to paint around the head this has been done by going into the anime tabs i brought the model apart then go into paint and i hid the Hat layer on the hat layer i also started to paint a bit of the mustache to give that nice defined mustache that it actually has in the skin in game but you compared to here the 32×32 resolution is so much more detailed in comparison 16×16 simply because we have Four pixels per pixels that we had in the past this would have been a 16 by 16 pixel this is a 32 by 32 pixel so you get a lot more definition to work with here i’m going to draw out a little bit more of the face and then come back and show You what it’s like gosh uh this is quite creepy okay so i brought it down slightly but i still think this guy looks way creepier than my normal minecraft skin does so i’m gonna tinker a bit around with the face and try to get that type of facial design that i Think could really work with the eyes and so on maybe i’ll have to brighten this up but this is closer to what it would sort of resemble if i were to try to bring it over and also notice with 32 by 32 i can actually put my eyes center In comparison to facing inwards like i have to do over here to sort of bring the same feel to the picture once more i brought the eyes down lit just a little bit and you can see that it starts to look very different to the Original skin and what i want to try to do here is to give it a bit of more of this playful type of feel if i were to click out here and deselect you can see how this guy yeah he looks a little bit more playful i’m not sure i want to continue Working with this type of expression and see exactly where it goes but yeah this is something like this maybe i don’t know we’ll see we’ll see we’ll see small update i’ve just gone in and i’ve actually taken a few more of the pixel colors around here you can see on The mustache there’s two different pixels right here and then we have another bright one up here in the hair so what i’ve done is that i’ve taken those over and tried to bring them into the mustache design to now shade it off a bit and i think that came out all good We’re gonna have to continue now and explore a little bit more of what the overall feel and identity of the main head is but one thing i thought i’d show you a bit about is if we want to paint and we take down the head layer not the Headlight but the head top layer thank you what i want to do here is to just bring in a little bit shade to the edge so i’m going to pick this color that we have right here and you can see that there is this little little little little tangy Color difference out here on my character skin but it’s barely visible what i want to do is to just give a little bit more oomph to that so we can see it and then what i’m going to do is i’m going to use it around the edges here on The face and as you’re going to see as well i’ve also added a bit of a fall of shadow but just a little bit around the face like that to bring out some more detail and also potentially shade out the eye sockets like this and i’m gonna add a slightly Darker color once more down here nothing more nothing less just a little bit darker like here do a bit of a a pillow shade and then slightly more up in the very corner like that if i go into edit and i bring it out a Bit you can see we start to get that round shape to the feel of the head that is just a very simple way to do it by actually just surrounding with slightly darker colors and keeping the brightness in the center another thing i can do to sort of bring That forward is to once more pick up the center collar then brighten it just slightly and sort of draw out a bit of a shape not too much of a shape but just a shape about right here that is symmetrical across the board that is slightly too bright so we’re Going to pick this color layer down here again just move this slightly slightly that i think is a bit too little like there maybe and then just paint over this there shouldn’t be a lot of rice you can probably barely see this but if you go Into edit we click deselect it is there it’s just very very very very very stealthy but there is this little little little little weak light on the forehead just to bring in some more shape to the overall design kind of remove them keep that shading potentially even remove the corners like That or is it the owners on the inside i want to move um yeah that’s the way you want to do it then bring the hat layer back on click out look at that it looks a bit more juilly now i didn’t know the art spy cab avatar was gonna Look like this at 32 by 32 but he’s coming along nicely i do feel like i’m getting the shapes where i want them another thing that i want to add as well on this one that is not present in my origin actually it is present i do have A bit of a beard as well here i i see that now and some eyebrows okay we’re going to get the eyebrows in i think we may do most of them in the hat layer i’m actually going to bring you through this process a bit i don’t look angry do i No that’s pretty flat so we’re going to do a bit of like a pretty flat line right here just to bring it over and then in the hat layer we’re going to do sort of the same but we’re going to add a bit of shape to it right here and right there We’re going to sort of do the the beard as well will the beard be connected is it just like that that looks a little bit posh yeah you look a little bit pushed that way so what we’re going to do here is to add this little touch to the cheek like so Then add a bit of an edge to it because i want to keep the main portion of the color in the middle then have it just briefly latch on like that see is it the same okay it wasn’t the same but this one is dark okay good do that There we have it little bit of shade a little bit of shape now you even feel like there’s a mouth in there even though there isn’t just because you have that little beard shape down there this is coming along really nicely maybe i should do more of these videos you guys Tell me down in the comments by the way if you want me to create more how to draw your skin in a high resolution videos because i wouldn’t really mind picking up some of my patrons and kind of do this for a random one of them every month something like that as well Could be fun we’ll see about it though as i said comment down below and i’ll look into what i want to do with this i do feel like this guy’s coming along nicely okay so i’m going to continue painting a little bit try to get the Rest of the head down and then i’ll update you when i’m there when i started drawing out the head you saw that i did this sort of pillow shading effect around it on the side so where to go to this side you can sort of See it we have the dark and the dark and the dark like that what i want to do now is actually try to get the same thing with the corners here brought all the way across but the corner cannot be done the same way as here over in the hair Parts where there is more than one type of color around it so what i do instead is i bring my brush down to opacity 10 and pick a darker color draw out a bit of shape of what i think the corner should be i keep on holding my brush When i do this entire draw process and then let go and then i go in again and i do the same shape like so and then i go in again and a smaller shape and then to the corner thus i get that nice pillow shading effect and a nice gradient that goes Around along with it i’m going to continue doing the same thing on the front here then bring out the hair and then i’ll come back at you when i’m done with it all right we sort of got that in you can see i’ve just put Down some of the lines up here i’m going to stand go back into and actually work on the sort of hair the sign is going to fall off the head but you know that i left this side open and what i want to do now is to bring this Side over in a nice and nifty way so i’m going to go into paint and i’m going to go into copy paste and use the paste tool and bring that corner down there all the way to this position here and then click on nothing actually Because if i just click and drag i can move it around like that so i’m going to drag it and put it over here flip it and then click place now it should be placed over on the other side nice and simple quick and easy just like that And i think this works out really good i’ve gone around and actually added the hair as well as you can see it’s close to the original the one we have up here and then just try to keep it all consistent i didn’t decrease the density of the eyebrows because the previous one Where i had the slightly thicker ones it made the character look a bit sad and almost a bit depressed or yeah i didn’t want to have that feeling so i took them away and tried to make them a bit less dense and thus tried to create this a bit more open-minded expression he Looks a bit like oh i could be out on adventures potentially we’ll see about it and i do think they all came up together really well so that’s the head also did that bit of a circle shade here and down in the bottom you can see here So i’m going to continue out with the rest of the body from this point on and if there’s any techniques you want me to go through in a future video actually making a proper minecraft skin from the ground up then do tell me down in the comments below because i would be really Happy to do so Is All right there we finally go i’ve just finished up the 32×32 skin and this is of course my old skin but i’ve been taking a look back and forth between these two and i can just say that i think i will stick to my old skin there is um something slightly un Uncanny about the high resolution version though i really like it i think it came out great i do really love the amount of detail i might actually use this for some videos in the future we’ll see i mean for example hightail it’s a really good example of where this guy could Potentially fit in in comparison to the old minecraft skins but there’s just something about the minecraft skin here that you know it feels like me it’s been me since i started channel out and then yeah this is me and it was really fun experimenting in this Video and as i said if you want me to do more skin videos and if you want me to do tutorials on skins like that on the channel then do tell me down in the comments below and i’ll look into doing that it would be fun to explore them a Bit uh yeah i think as in terms of how this one turned out we can probably do better and more and crazy stuff still there i do like him though like it’s not bad but yeah i just prefer my old skin but he looks cute yeah Well with that i’ll leave you be if you haven’t already become a patron you can do that by checking over at the earth pack of patreon if you haven’t subscribed you know you can subscribe by clicking the little subscribe button here somewhere in the channel and there’s also a notification bell if you Are
